Twitter Rarely Suspends Accounts - But Now We Know It Happens

2021-01-09T05:47:00.004+01:00

Screendump from Twitter

If you have used Twitter for some time, you will probably already have met people who deal hatefully against you. You can report them, but Twitter rarely ever does anything about that. You can see that because the aggressor still has the account active even after you have received a receipt saying that Twitter acknowledges that the account broke their Terms of Service.

That can be quite frustrating because it infects the whole platform when there are people who keep being aggressive, and thus destroy the experience for others in this social network.

Trump Got His Account Suspended

The current President, Donald J Trump, actually got his account suspended after the riots against Capitol Hill on January 6th 2021. A long overdue decision as this man has been spreading hate ever since he ran his campaign for office - and even before when he spread lies about the birth of former President Barack Obama insinuating that he was not a 'real' American...

It is hugely positive to watch that there IS a limit to what you can say on Twitter. 👍

I have always insisted on being positive on both Twitter profiles. Both my Danish profile and my English profile are accounts that consistently insist upon good netiquette, and I have blocked many users who failed to respect the Twitter Terms of Service.

It is going to improve the quality of the Twitter platform that they limit the level of bad bahavior you can show online, so I applaud this.

What are your thoughts, dear readers?

Wishing all a good weekend.

How to Use Twitter More Effectively

2020-03-17T22:40:00.001+01:00

Sometimes people wonder how to use Twitter more effectively. Actually, there is no single answer to that question, but I feel it is time to tell at least how I use Twitter because this may inspire you too. My profile page can be seen here: https://twitter.com/henrikblunck

Originally, Prime Tweeter was created as a blog to write separate articles about each Twitter user worth following, but it quickly became outdated. I have therefore chosen to write this article as a recommendation to follow my profile. You can then see the people I follow, and maybe that can inspire you too. :-)

Write a Clear Message
You need to be clear and concise when you tweet. Your message needs to come across in language everybody understands. In that way you avoid misunderstandings, and some people WILL misunderstand. Some do this wilfully to waste your time, but with experience comes the ability to know when to stop wasting time. Others will ask good questions, and these are the kind of people you want to communicate with.

Huge Potential for Good Advice
You can learn a lot from constructive criticism. In fact, many use Twitter as a testing lab for new ideas, and that is highly effective because Twitter is populated with a lot of people who know their subjects so well. You can find expertise that would take hours to search for in a matter of minutes. That is the power of Twitter.

The More You Contribute to Others The More You Will Get Back
The law of good karma works so well on Twitter. The more you bring to the table, the more you will actually get back. When you show good qualifications in a certain field, you will attract more interesting readers to your blog or other websites - and it brings value both from linkbuilding, but certainly also because of qualified organic traffic.

Sometimes, this feels like you are speculating in traffic, but nothing could be further from the truth. You want to focus more on good content for your followers, and for that purpose you use hashtags on Twitter.

Hashtags are small keywords that will alert people to the subject of your tweet. When you are discussing the blog software WordPress, you add #WordPress to your tweet. When you're talking about the sitting President, you can use #Trump, and by using these hashtags, you're telling people what you're talking about. The magic with hashtags is that they are searchable, and Twitter users often use these searches when they're looking for specific information, so it's highly effective...

The best way to get acquainted with Twitter is quite simply to get over there and see what's in your timeline. You will quickly get the feel of conversations, and practice makes perfect.

Good luck on Twitter - and do remember to write a comment if you have any questions. It might inspire me for another article on this blog. :-)

Contrasts on Twitter Between Obama and Trump

2017-04-17T21:27:00.000+02:00

If you are an old-timer on Twitter, you no doubt remember the days when then-Senator Barack Obama ran for office. He was a pioneer on social media such as Twitter and Facebook. He won largely because he understood just how you could be positively engaged with your followers.

His successor, Donald J Trump, is certainly also active on Twitter - but in a very different way!

No one could ever claim that current President Trump has been any encouragement towards anybody on Twitter. In fact, he thrives on opposition, and his followers seem bent on twisting anything that is being said without any consideration of the thought that 'if the shoe fits'... :-)

The contrasts are very sharp - and when you only have 140 characters at your disposal, it can be a real challenge to use this media successfully when you're dealing with a negative mindset such as that presented by Donald J Trump.

I won't get into politics on this blog. If you want to know more about that, you can check the blog World Politics 101. But I will say that it IS quite a challenge to watch our timelines during the last 90 days since Trump entered into The White House.

So much negativity!

We need a different voice. We need a positive search for solutions instead of digging our own graves because of all the wrong solutions in search of short-sighted peace. We need more lasting peace, and we need to maintain a good tone, even when opposition is so negative as they are towards a positive agenda.

Best of luck to all who try to keep a good atmosphere on Twitter. You are very much appreciated. :-)

Twitter Marketing - Should I Follow Everyone Who Follows Me?

2016-08-16T22:10:00.000+02:00

There are many new users of Twitter who almost feel as though they were obligated to follow back anyone that follows them. Their doubts are a good sense of the normal ethics that say that we should be equally interested in people who take an interest in us, but it can cause some confusion for Twitter users when they lose all understanding of this micro-blogging universe just because they thought they had to check every single tweet that came in their timelines.

Follow Active Tweeters
I have always advised following active tweeters. To say it straight out: if someone follows you, yet has no tweets, follows 25,000 people yet is followed by no one and has a username ending in 5567 that person is probably just a spammer who will be deleted by Twitter in due course anyway.

On the other hand, you can have a user with a user name that was taken long ago. Their are many Donnas or Joans in the world - but real people will be known by being followed by others, and being active with tweets before they begin to be interesting.

Use Twitter the Right Way
In an ideal world everyone you follow will follow you back. This could happen for the few who have chosen a niche where everyone is truly interested in what each have to say to one another. But the normal average will be that about half the people you follow will follow you back.

But why worry about who follows you back? If you do write valuable tweets other people will notice your tweets when they search Twitter, and you will get lots of other followers. The main focus should be on sharing valuable information - not on trying to force others to follow you. Simply because it won't work anyway.

Some Don't Re-Tweet
Even people I know very well are "Scrooges" when it comes to returning the favor of a re-tweet. Either they are ignorant of the principles behind Twitter, or they simply don't care about reciprocal cooperation. Don't let such people annoy you, but keep sharing as you find valuable tweets. That is the best way to proceed because otherwise you begin to lose momentum when you begin worrying about how others don't know how to use Twitter more efficiently.

As long as you use Twitter much better, you will have a competitive edge over others, and you will never have to worry about others overtaking you once they see the errors of their ways, and try walking in your footsteps back on track.

Twitter Power - It Is An Effective Type of Social Media

2016-02-12T00:57:00.003+01:00

Current US President, Barack Obama, has approx. 6.28 million followers on Twitter. When he wrote a tweet, I saw an interesting development. During the first minute, he got 178 retweets and 337 likes. During the first two minutes, numbers had grown to 696 retweets and 1,200 likes.

Obviously, not many of us have millions of followers, but the power of Twitter is still present. People enjoy Twitter, and for my own part, I was somewhat off Twitter whilst I was on Facebook. When I dumped Facebook, I quickly regained the pace of Twitter. Of course, not nearly spending as much time on Twitter as I did on Facebook, but certainly enjoying the ping-pong of quick debates with people across the globe.

In a matter of seconds you can update yourself on timelines based on media you follow, and can get acquainted with news even before it appears on your television.

If you ever doubted the power and benefits of Twitter, you should get on Twitter and check it out. It is a real goldmine of good information at your fingertips in real time.

Someone F*cked My Twitter Account

2014-12-13T09:37:00.000+01:00

Pardon my french, but someone f*cked my Twitter account, Prime Tweeter, which was intended to keep people alert on what I wrote to commend fellow Twitter users.

It is no secret that the project has been sleeping for some time - but never actually abandoned. Yet, someone used my account to follow 500+ people whose only quality was that they were either pornographic, arabic profiles or just plain trash accounts meant to sell weight loss products or muscle enhancers...

I apologize for not having secured the account. What a loss if someone has unfollowed due to that - and, unfortunately, some have.

Restitution has been initiated. Firstly by unfollowing all the bogus accounts, and now a few articles will be released to make everyone more attentive as to how to protect passive accounts.

One element I did find was that the infringing party didn't write any tweets while holding the account. Very clever, because I follow this account from one of my other accounts. I tweet both in Danish and English, so it was only natural to cross-link so I could see if tweets began appearing on my English timeline.

Have a nice weekend, and hope you come back to Prime Tweeter

Make 2011 Your Best Twitter Year

2011-01-08T22:54:00.002+01:00

Make 2011 your best Twitter year by sharing and retweeting more generously. This blog was actually designed to give praise to Twitter power users. Twitter was designed as a social network of micro-bloggers who share within their field of special interest.

Happy New Year everyone. :-)

Britt Malka Was Winner in August

2010-11-15T15:01:00.003+01:00

Actually forgot to mention that Britt Malka won the vote for Prime Tweeter in August.

Voting was incredibly low, and I just have to realize that Prime Tweeter never got the attention I felt it deserved. Have fun tweeting everyone, and congrats to Britt for tweeting so well. I hope she keeps up the good work, and you can follow her here:

Perhaps Bad Habits Can't Be Broken Anyway...

2010-09-20T12:47:00.004+02:00

You may be wondering about the title "Perhaps bad habits can't be broken anyway", but there is a very good reason for that title.

When I started this blog, the intention was to bring praise to the people on Twitter who made a difference without necessarily using auto-response systems or artificial systems to generate followers. I even showed an example of a unique DISfollow of all followers, after which this one user chose only a few users worth following, and left it up to the rest if they wanted to keep following him. That user was Joel Comm. A unique user, and also the author of Twitter Power - the book that was recently released in a version 2.0.

This blog was also started to RENEW the system instead of boring FollowFridays, the so-called #FF hashtag, that noone really reads anymore. Inflation takes out the value of any currency when done at nauseum.

All of the above motivations were spiced with informative articles about how to tweet more effectively, and even an e-book was created, all to NO AVAIL whatsoever. Even a majority of the candidates nominated didn't care about the nomination...

Need I say, I am moving on to other avenues. It was fun while it lasted...

Nerode Abraham - Third Candidate in August

2010-08-30T18:38:00.006+02:00

Chances are you have probably never heard of Nerode Abraham, but that is a shame. He is chosen as the third candidate because he makes a difference. His Twitter profile describes him in this way:

Family guy, teacher, and entreprenuer by heart; love working with the kids and makin a difference. Like martial arts good books on religion and havin a blast!

I fully understand his appreciation of working with kids. That should be at the heart of all family involvement. Nerode is an honest man, and that deserves appreciation.

On the negative side everyone that follows him could have wanted him to tweet more often. Once you read what he has to say, you truly want to read more from his pen. Check out his Twitter profile. You won't regret doing so because he has much to offer, and therefore he is proudly presented as the third candidate for Prime Tweeter.

Nerode Abraham follows 698 people, is followed by 575 people, listed in 2 public lists and has written 143 tweets.

Britt Malka

2010-08-12T01:01:00.002+02:00

Britt Malka is our second candidate for Prime Tweeter in August. She describes herself in this way:

Full time writer and reader, part time night elf in World of Warcraft.

Britt has shared her expertise in both Danish and English. She is a prolific writer of booklets describing how-to's of many computer programs. Furthermore, she has addressed the subject of earning money online for numerous years. She has also shared many tips on using your computer more effectively on a Danish blog entitled "Tips & Tricks", and currently offers many ideas for using your computer online on her other blog "Godteposen".

Britt was in fact a big inspiration for my beginning to look into online business, and I can warmly recommend you check out her many blogs on many different subjects.

She has great expertise also in hypnosis, and enjoys many types of hobbies. She became a grand-mother just recently, and currently resides with her husband, Cyril, in France.

Britt Malka follows 437 people, is followed by 707 people, listed in 14 public lists and has written 2,150 tweets.

Alex Arthur

2010-08-10T01:01:00.004+02:00

Alex Arthur describes himself like this on Twitter: "e-Marketing: knowledge, tips, techniques and mindsets"

Alex is very good at sharing valuable ideas with his followers. A few hours ago he gave this tip about SEO [Search Engine Optimization]:

Identify the websites which send traffic to your competitors & try to get your links or ads on them. Do a search using linkto: then the URL

Alex Arthur is good at describing list building, and when you visit his blog, you will notice that he maintains a good online credibility.

You can get lots of valuable information from his blog, so I warmly recommend you check him out. One good article example would be the article entitled "Is Your Salary Keeping You From Becoming Rich?" which describes a lot about the mindset, and differences between slaves (who work for pay), and independent people. Well worth reading indeed.

Alex Arthur follows 10,198 people, has 9,859 followers and is listed on 138 public lists. He has at this time written 474 tweets.

Let Quality Be Your Guide

2010-08-05T15:47:00.002+02:00

Let quality be your guide when using Twitter. Numerous blogs are created that each run their recipes on how to build Twitter power. Many are speculative at best.

What IS the recipe for true Twitter power?

My best advice is to BUILD trust through good social behavior. Share what you know. Participate in discussions. Offer help where you can. Retweet what could help others who follow you - and start building a real online community around your special niche.

Don't worry about numbers. They are often inflated by auto-response systems. You can earn far more money by having a responsive group of 300 followers who actually READ what you have to say, rather than having a list of 20.000 followers who couldn't care less.

What are YOUR thoughts about Twitter? Please share. I want to know what YOU think, please.

Thanks very much beforehand. :-)

Prime Tweeter - July Voting

2010-07-29T16:37:00.002+02:00

We have now reached the first month of candidates for Prime Tweeters. Our list consists of four Tweeters:

Ari Herzog

Joel Comm

Annette Nack

ProBlogger

You will be able to vote for your candidate as Prime Tweeter in the left hand side of the page. Voting will start right now, and will continue until August 5th 2010 at 03:00 PM CET.

The winner of July 2010 will enter a yearly voting, and will therefore be joined by the winners for August, September, October, November and December in a voting for Prime Tweeter 2010.

ProBlogger - Expert Blogger, Author and Ad Salesman

2010-07-29T16:04:00.004+02:00

ProBlogger is known as Darren Rowse. He is a professional blogger, and he has helped many through his e-book "31 Days to Build a Better Blog". He has also written "Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income"

Darren is an Australian, so from our perspective he's from down under, but his tweeting certainly isn't. He is a person who is very good at sharing information on blogging. If you are going to run your own blog, many of his tips will be highly useful for you.

In many ways, ProBlogger does what the rest of us should also be doing. From time to time he will remind his new followers of important foundational articles that can help new people get started with their blogs.

The only thing that can be a bit annoying is that many of the ads he releases are for US-residents only. Somewhat surprising when you just read he is himself an Australian. Many of us do master the English language as either a second or third mother tongue - but are nonetheless disqualified from applying since many are not US-residents.

You will find many valuable tweets when you follow ProBlogger, and he is therefore the fourth candidate for Prime Tweeter for the month of July.

Are You a Mover or a Sleeper?

2010-07-20T16:58:00.003+02:00

I could have entitled this article "Twitter Is the Rebel Protection From Total Guru Domination of the Internet", but that might appear strange for this article. But think for a moment. Internet marketing is dominated by maybe twenty to thirty really big guys - gurus in their own minds - catered to by numerous wannabe gurus who all concentrate on marketing whatever comes from the guru-classed "experts". Below them you have even more affiliates running campaigns as a result of what the wannabe gurus present to them from the big guys.

Sound strange?

It shouldn't. Because it's the truth.

Twitter is YOUR unique chance to dominate the internet one tweet at a time when you remain consistent about your message, develop your niche, interact with your followers, promote the good stuff instead of only what comes from the big guys...

In other words, even the smallest project on Twitter can become the very biggest in a short amount of time. It just requires people to be movers instead of sleepers.

If you want to be a mover, who supports better interaction with users, you can begin tweeting about your finding this project where Prime Tweeters ARE to be praised for their being just that bit better than the rest of Twitterville. You can retweet what you find useful, and you can start the process of changing the way internet marketing moves.

Are you a mover or a sleeper? Please comment if inspired... :-)

Ari Herzog - Blogger and Controversial Views on Social Media

2010-07-14T15:39:00.004+02:00

Ari Herzog is the kind of blogger you like to hate. Don't get me wrong. He is a good writer, but often he can also have very controversial views, even towards Twitter. :-)

But I do kind of like this type of Twitter power user because he stands out. He has a message and a mission, and he is a man who dares speak out against some of the wishy-washy you see all over the internet.

His own description on Twitter speaks for itself:

Newburyport city councilor, transportation policy geek, and online media strategist. Tweeting infrequently: http://bit.ly/myonlineself

Becoming a candidate for Prime Tweeter is indeed a sign of being yourself, and I think it deserves praise to have created a brand that is noticed. As a third candidate for this month, Ari does stand out, and deserves to be followed.

New e-book: "23 Facts and Keys to Being Among Prime Tweeters Right Now!"

2010-07-10T23:01:00.000+02:00

You need the brand-new e-book "23 Facts and Keys to Being Among Prime Tweeters Right Now!" if you want to start growing your commitment to using Twitter to get more devoted followers of what happens in your life.

This e-book has been priced so everyone can afford it. You get nearly 12.000 words in 23 short article-length parts that will cover all aspects you need to know to build Twitter power for a super low price of only $3.95.

I wish you all a happy week of tweeting. :-)

Joel Comm - Author of Twitter Power, Adsense Expert and Chat Show Host

2010-07-09T02:05:00.000+02:00

No list of Twitter power users would be complete without mentioning Joel Comm. Our second Prime Tweeter is therefore Joel Comm, CEO of Infomedia Inc.

Joel wrote Twitter Power where he shows how you can dominate your niche one tweet at a time. You can read a review of his book in the article "Review of Twitter Power 2.0 by Joel Comm".You would have to say that Joel Comm is sometimes controversial, but he gets his points across. He is respectful, even towards people with whom he disagrees, and I think Joel has made the internet a more fun place to be.

He is a former gamer. He sold one of his business ventures to Yahoo, and this is today known as Yahoo Games. His family blog site, WorldVillage, is an article database that supplies great content for families, and you will find many great articles on that site.

For those who have seen his shown Adsense Premier, they will notice that he also speaks highly of one of his competitors in the article database niche, EzineArticles' Christopher Knight. So Joel is not an exclusivist person. He has learned from his audience. There was a time when his blog only contained positive comments. He has later accepted more debate, and his blog has subsequently improved because greater nuances are added to the articles written.

Joel is very good at sharing both everyday and special events tweets, and there is a good relationship between tweets about everyday subjects and mentions of articles written. Furthermore, Joel has mastered the art of tweeting when he goes online. He runs his own chat show where people can write comments in a chat forum and get responses to subjects that interest them.

Annette Nack - Health, Writing and Chocolates

2010-07-07T11:44:00.000+02:00

The first person to be named among the many Twitter power users out there is Annette Nack from New York.

One of the most positive things about Annette Nack is her determination, and her willingness to share many things with her fellow tweeters. She is a participant in the EzineArticles HAHD 4 challenge, and has had periods of great inspiration on the subject of health, running etc.

What I especially appreciate about the way she presents her profile on Twitter is the fact that she admits to liking chocolate - a highly politically incorrect admission when one considers how some present their health pages. In many pages dealing with health it feels as though one has to be in one group or the other - either super-healthy (doing all the right things) or lazy (just because you also enjoy some of the good things in life).

It is nice to see a balanced profile with lots of funny tweets on long nights when something either annoys or inspires her. I had no hesitation in her becoming the first candidate here on Prime Tweeter.

Introduction to Prime Tweeter

2010-07-07T03:07:00.000+02:00

As I have described above, the purpose of this blog is:

Prime Tweeter is the blog that will regularly update the readers about Twitter users worth following. Real Twitter power is achieved by building a relationship with your followers, and this blog will name the best Twitter users both to commend power users, but also to inspire you about whom to follow.

I believe Twitter has been misunderstood by many, and therefore this blog is needed to provide people with high level quality information about who is worth reading on Twitter.

You can't nominate yourself for inclusion on this blog, but you may certainly recommend people you find worthy to be reviewed by following the Twitter profile Prime Tweeter, and adding your recommendation - either as a comment on this blog or in a DM to me.

Be aware that tweeters with only a few tweets and the last one being half a year old are NOT power tweeters. Twitter users regularly build a relationship with their users, and speculative people won't get any chance to be mentioned. I want to focus on quality of tweets, and therefore this rule is set immediately in the hope that those who nominate will focus only on the very best.

Each month those who were mentioned the month before will be added to a poll so YOU can decide who becomes Prime Tweeter of the Month, and at the end of the year there will be a nomination of the Prime Tweeter of the Year.

Welcome to Prime Tweeter. Build Twitter power by being involved with your audience, and prepare to be reviewed and perhaps chosen as Prime Tweeter of the Year.
