So......everyone know how trendy lash extensions have become the biggest hit over the last couple of years. For poor sad lashes like mine, it was awesome to not have to use a curler or a million coats of mascara.
I literally have never bought the same mascara more than twice because I'm always on the hunt for the latest and greatest. My fav stands as Urban decays curling mascara. Now I'm getting off point! ..... What's not trendy? The price of lash extensions. The ever so amazing blog called The Beauty Department, posted an amazing tutorial on trio lashes. You can cut your own from a strip or buy the actual trios. you can customize them by trimming what you want and dont want off a strip. The are much easier than applying individual or strip lashes and offer a natural pop. They are only temporary but great if you want to up your look without the drama of falsies. Here's the link!!!!

Backyard beauty

This lovely lady, Jaimie is getting married in her own backyard! She isn't used to wearing makeup and has a simple Midsummer Nights Dream wedding color palette. I evened her near perfect and porcelain skin in Aveda's beechwood tinted moisturizer and set with their mineral loose powder. Normally i don't recommend makeup that has SPF in it because it doesn't work well with flash photography, but a lot of photographers end up using Lightroom instead of flash since its used mainly at night and used in a more outdated style of photography. Next, Aveda has great blush/bronzer trios that are everyday user friendly and really natural. also used the twilight trio palette on her lids with Aura in the crease. Her gorgeous lips were perfected with their lip gloss, Coral. We tried a simple false strip lash instead of mascara to keep it natural. She loved it! Her hair was done in a loosely pinned side swept up-do, to let her stunning one shouldered wedding gown steal the show. Can't wait to doll her up on her big day in just three weeks!!

I had the honor of working for Alicia Tullio for her beautiful nuptials as the Faulkner winery in Temecula.
Alicia is a natural beauty and very low key with her daily makeup. She had the most adorable freckles, whih her hisband loves so we wanted to let those shine theough. We kept her look soft and light and went with Stila's amazing liquid hd foundation. Her gorgeous big brown eyes we accented in Urban Decays Smog. And we gave her a slight winged liner and topped her with a taupe pink lip. Muah!

I absolutely swooned over Jessica Chastain's Oscar style! Her champagne sweetheart neckline, silhouette snug dress made me weak in the knees. Her soft deep side part is easily achieved by curling with a 3/4 ing curling iron, parting at the end of the brow you prefer to part on and brushing your curls out with a soft paddle brush. Spray and coax the wave in the direction you'd like. Her simple yet classic approach to makeup is flawless and let's her own beauty shine through!! Swoon!!!

I had the honor of dolling up my very own best friend for her college graduation ceremony. Every once and a while a makeup artist is blessed with a canvas that has to die for eyes and that is the case here. No matter what color is used, her eyes always pop. On this day we used urban decays naked palette's Smog mixed with midnight cowboy, one of Urbans all time favorites. Along with a classic winged liner. We paired it with coral cheeks and a peach gloss to let her new platinum hair and eyes steal the show!

I know it's a long time coming but I really love leggings. I have a small waist and big top so I always felt like I could never get away with them but I have realized that when paired with the right shirt and shoes they look good on almost everyone! Intimate Rustic Ceremony

I finally got some photos back from a bride i did who was absolutely stunning. A makeup artists dream is to get a beautiful bride with flawless skin. And she is a total doll to boot!! Kerah and her husband Stephen opted for a very small and intimate ceremony with a rustic burned down house as their backdrop in the middle of the woods! And their little pooch was the ring bearer! We did a natural brown and blush smoky eye on kerah with peach cheeks and a glossy pout. For her hair we curled and teased with Aveda's Control Force. Kerahs hair has texture but is fine and doesnt hold curl for very long. We gave her a vintage pouf and accented it with a blush rose that matched her dress. Congratulations Kerah and Stephen!

Prep + Prime

Seems like everyone is constantly on the search for the best eye primer. While a lot of ladies swear by Urban Decays eyeshadow primer potion, my favorite by far is mac's prep + prime. It has an amazing consistency that works well for both dry and oily skin. For oily skin, a creamy primer still means a rubbed off look at the end of a crazy work day or night out. This primer fills in all the fine lines and is flesh colored so it masks any redness, veins or hyper pigmentation. I am personally so oily that i have to wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner. This stuff ROCKS!!!

Bridal makeup is so hard because it has to look like the bride, yet be flawless for pictures. Today i had the pleasure of dolling up cristen. Who is set to wed in september. She is an au natural cutie and doesnt usually wear makeup which made it a challenge for me. I did choose a hint of orange to accent her insanely gorgeous blue eyes. They are stunning! We also did a french braid pulled into a looped and pinned off to the side updo.

So any wedding...or special event even, usually involves a tear or two. Or complete waterworks. Don't fear my little criers. Stila has an absolutely amazing Waterproof gel liner that can be used with any type of liner brush so it can be also used in your waterline. Because of its versatility it can create a dramatic cat-eye, a basic subtle line to make lashes appear thicker, or a thin line to create a tiny pop to keep things more natural. Its only $20 and a little goes a long way. One pot will last you probably till it expires its shelf life of a year. I love it everyday. I have naturally very oily skin and blow drying and curling hair all day makes you work up a sweat. This is the only waterproof liner that does NOT cake and that i wont find hanging out on my cheekbones halfway into my day. ;) Yes Please.

Here are some great ideas for summer. A great way for getting a natural pretty look is to use bronzer and your own face powder to blend as eyeshadow with a dash of shimmer over your lid. Dying to get that surfer look? Aveda’s Pure Abundance Hair Potion is literally amazing. Step 1) Comb hair protector (their damage control spray is also excellent) and a lightweight styling foam through the hair. Step 2) Rough dry your hair until it is about 75% dry. Step 3 Take two inch sections and twist each one *away from the face. Step 4) Use your fingers to scrunch your twisty sections which blowing dry. You can use a little hair spray to help tame frizzies. Keep scrunching up, while pointing your blow dryer down, this will help keep frizz down. and Voila! Beach mama!

This is from our photoshoot with Raquel Ames Photography on the 8th. I really pride myself on accentuating the natural beauty of our clients and Malati’s was definitely captured! Mind you she had really great skin, but she was worried about not looking like herself. While makeup should cater to the photo, it should address the natural aspects as well. We gave her flawless skin and a light dusting of Aveda’s peach lights blush. Her eyeshadow was kept subtle using Smog and Buck in her crease and Naked on her lid. We blended with a MUD Pro’s translucent powder in Desert and hit her inner corner of the eye with Sin from the Naked Palette. Her brows were left clean with some clear mascara and she was given a subtle liner effect by mixing UD’s Creep with a little saline for a slightly more dramatic affect. Her lips were done with MAC’s twig and her own favorite Chanel gloss….Gorgeous! We flat ironed her hair and lightly pinned a half up do that was teased and sprayed with Aveda’s Control Force. Which also has a UV Protector in it for color! She loved it so much, she’s booking a Makeup Lesson Party for her and h er stay at home mama gals!
