Many of us were baptized as infants, have you ever thought about why and what that really means? Were you forced into something you did not want or were you initiated into the great Body of Christ even while you were still completely dependent on your parents? Often times the scripture verse at the top of this page is used to refute infant baptism rather than supporting it with a host of other scripture passages and a constant teaching of the Catholic Church over her 2000 year history. We will discuss this tonight and where our Church draws its theology from on this topic.

Have you ever been told by your parents not to use words like stupid or to make threats directed toward people? Maybe you have even had your mouth washed out with soap (ask Jill Barriga in the Youth Office about this) when you were little, or even this week! Tonight the goal is not to undo all of these valuable lessons your parents (and mine) taught me but it is to help us keep it in perspective when we read the words of Sacred Scripture doing the exact opposite.
