[Travel] Osaka Day 1

Back to blogging my japan trip to the most detailed as possible since is almost 3 months past.

We touched down in the afternoon and took the train to Namba station where our hotel is near. Traveling in Japan is a Breeze and I m quite surprised as I was prepared for the complicated train maps.

It din take us too Long to reach Namba station and find our way walking towards our hotel. On our way we took some street food which is highly recommended by some bloggers. Haiz. My Pigeon brain can’t rem where but is always with Long queue la

So after walking about 15mins we reached our hotel. After checking in and wash up we head down to dotonburi for dinner

After that we head back to hotel and zzz lol. Frankly speaking if I were to return to Osaka, I would make sure I spend more days in one picfecture 😂

But quite good exposure as I plan and execute the plan all by myself

[Travel] Japan trip

So back to backlogs of my Japan trip. August has a wonderful Long weekend where I can just simply take minimal number of days and I get to go on a holiday.

Was thinking of where to go and what to do. So hub gave me some choices like UK, Japan or NZ. Did some research and I decided on Japan despite the weather is Super hot during August.

I took up the planning on where to go, what to do, where to stay plus eat and Budget too. After I did up my itinerary, I shared with hubs and he just approved and financed all the expenses. Lol. So we went for a week in Japan. Our first trip to Japan and our first couple trip after so Long.

The trip to Japan was meant for touch and go type whereby we get a feel of Japan and easier for me to plan the next trip which is in Feb next yr.

So I planned 2 days in Osaka, 2 days in Kyoto , 1 day in Mt Fuji and 2 days in Tokyo. Personally I like Kyoto most after I been to Japan.

So off we went. Left our two kids with my parents plus helper on a Super early Sunday. Boarded our scoot to Osaka!

So our weekends started to pack with a lot of activities now. As kids grow older, we started enrolling them to more and more activities. Making sure they are exposed to music,sports..etc

We started Swimming lessons with happyfish when Zach was 3 and Hannah 2. So far they been progressing well. At the same time we also introduce piano lessons for Zach too. So my typical weekends will be Saturday, Swimming plus dinner with his grandparents. Sunday, piano plus time spend with my parents.

Now we also started bringing them to libraries and they Super love it. This week, they read about the story of the crane and the crab. They also did some activities after the storytime.

A typical time spend with my mum will be spending time at the playground too.

Wow. Been a Long while. Almost a year ya? Just realise I blog my Aussie post and not even half way through it. This yr I been to Genting with my parents, Japan with hub so I Guess I better start blogging again ya

So time really flies. My Son is 4 and girl turning 3 this month. Today is their school holiday. Decided to bring the kids out since I took leave to pei them. Yala. I wanted to clear some work at home but then... better do Mother duties manz

Kids when they are Not fighting, they r always adorable. When they r not cranky, u get a sane mummy. Hahaha. Else is a safe insane mummy u see right here.

Amazed by the sharpness of the tamron lens despite it is a 17-28mm. Zoomed into 28mm and I still can get sharpness of the images plus some post editing too la.

The weather is super hot today. But lucky the kids r ok with it.

I think this picture got some feel la hahaha. Backlight. I love tamron lens. Since my Nikon days, tamron never fail me.

I do hope they enjoy their day today haha especially I m dead beat on my way driving back. Lolx

As they grow older now, they are more n more aware of surroundings, asking questions, telling you what they see and how they see things. Sometimes is quite interesting to chat with them, of cos without their tantrums.

So we went to Melbourne for a 10days8nights holiday with the kids. And they Super love the holiday. Will post more later

Time flies. Is May. Month of birthdays. Which means I m one yr older very soon. Today is Labour Day and a Super rainy day.

Was going tru some Instagram and triggered some random thoughts. Was Wow-Ing at Sonyalphaclub over some pictures took using Rii. Well I wasn’t a Sony fan after my NEX cos I found the Color rather off.mayb is the skills la. But I somehow feel that Color lacking compared to Fujifilm t1 and my Nikon until my latest found rii. I like everything about it except the battery drains Super fast. It even drains if I never use it. So end up I got three batteries and 1 charger that allows me to charge 4 at one go which is convienent for travelling.

Nevertheless it is my new found love with the sharpness of the pictures. So I got one more love now

Good day. I finally made my decision to purchase a bean bag for the house. Cos I have been thinking about this for the super Long time since I stayed in Minton until now.

Been a while since I last post here. Many things happened in 2017 and I would probably summarized it in short here

1. I left Singtel and joined another industry. Something made me move but I Guess moving on is a good thing for me. I learn more and have more exposure now. I m more confident now too.

2. I shifted out of Minton and now I m back to a West kiddo again. Still trying to get used to my life here. My place here is great. The environment minus some of nasty neighbours here. Of cos. I met some good ones. With the upcoming cny, I only managed to get my dining table in place. Lol. So I Guess will need some time before I can do a showcase of my house

So now I stay at ground floor haha. I trying to convince myself that is a good move since I m fighting with cockroaches n insects now. Lol

It has been awhile since i last step into Farmart. We wanted to explore more outdoor activities for the kids and suddenly Farmart pops into my mind. So Farmart has quite a number of activities for the kids such as feeding farm animals - goats, rabbits, ..etc. and also prawn fishing. Seeing the activities suitable for Zach and so we head down to Farmart for some outdoor activities.

For a small amount of money, u get to feed the animals there.

Personally i feel that the place is nice for young kids especially they get really close to farm animals like goats. although there are not many type of farm animals there, Zach gets to enjoy himself by feeding the animals there.

[Recipe] Mummy Lai 's chicken rice - Mushroom chicken rice

I used to remember when my brother and I was young, we love to eat hainanese chicken rice. those were the days where recipes are not shared and easily available. So my mum created her own version of chicken rice and we love it so much until today we keep asking for it

Ingredients (serve 4 pax)
1. 2-3 drumsticks depending on the number of people u have.
2. 1-2 cups of rice wash
3. 10 pieces of mushrooms soak and remove the stem. Cut into slices and keep the mushroom water
4. 2 -3 slices of ginger
5. 4-5 clove of garlic keep the skin

Seasoning
1. 2 tablespoon of oyster sauce
2. 1-2 tablespoon of light soya sauce
3. 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
4. 1-2 tablespoon of chinese cooking wine (shao xing wine)

Steps
1. Marinate the chicken drum stick with the seasoning for at least 2-3 hours
2. Saute ginger and garlic with oil until fragrant
3. Add in the mushrooms and stir fry it for awhile before adding the rice
4. Add in the marinated sauce from the chicken and mix evenly
5. Put everything into the rice cooker. Add in the mushroom water
6. Add enough water to cover the rice (as per normally how u cook right)
7. Add in more light soya sauce to taste. place the chicken on top of the rice and set it to cook
8. Garnish with thin slices of lettuces if you like and serve when hot

we always wanted to expose Zach and Hannah to more outdoor activities. I happened to read up on Jacob Ballas Children's Garden and decided to bring them there. Somehow i felt that i made a mistake as they are too young to understand what is happening there. Perhaps, only the water pool and the tree house slide is more suitable for Zach. Maybe when he is much older, he will be more appreciative at Jacob Ballas Children's Garden? lol.

Nevertheless, we had so much fun that day trying to pretend for a lion hunt.

I have a super bored meimei here...the weather was super hot that day

somehow he relates garden, trees with lion. so we pretend play Lion hunt and singing lion hunt along the way to make the trip more interesting for him

He saw Singa and then got very excited over it. lol

[Food Review] Birthday Celebration @ Simply Peranakan Cuisine

Wanted to bring my helper to a Indonesian Restaurant but din manage to as it was fully booked and probably due to the break fast period so it was packed with people and they do not accept walk ins. so we decided to try Peranakan food instead.

we ordered some of the famous Peranakan dishes like zhap cai (mixed veges), ngor hiong, otah, ayam buah keluak, and their curry fish head

Their mixed vege is good. much better the one that i had from Pow Sing Chicken rice. The vegetable is soft and doesnt really have the kind of sour taste at all.

their Nghor hiong is quite huge in size compared to many. I find it abit chao ta on the surface. but overall this is good

their otah is quite different from the usual ones. Their otah has more coconut milk in it that makes the otah more rich.

ayam buah keluah, this is my favorite dish of the day. reminds me of the chicken i had when i was young.

the curry fish head is a little disappointing. although not spicy but it doesnt have the fragrant taste of curry. i guess probably i am used to eating curry fish head with coconut milk in it?

I think most people would have realize that I am a mother of two now! a 2 yr old and a 1 yr old going to be ( turning one in Sept). I would confidently say that I am very contented with my current family life now - a doting husiban, two lively kids who fill my heart, 2 furry kids.

so I also realize that they are growing up very quickly..so are my furry kids. therefore, I will bring my camera with me all the time. just to capture precious moments spend with them. =). I used to think that iphone can capture everything, well, I cannot denied that this is the most convenient way but sometimes I feel that the photos are still not as good. so usually I will bring my camera out. everywhere I go, I will ensure that my cameras are with me other than my handphones - of cos my handphones has turn into Zachariah's toys..alamak...so I guess cameras are still the way for me..lol

somehow I still feel that traditional cameras still works the best for me. be it a micro four third / DSLR..

so as times goes by my requirements for a camera has also increase. so these are my top 5

1. from traditional heavy DSLR, I search for DLSR quality cameras that is of smaller size T10 / Alpha 7II
2. from many lens I used to bring to only 1 good quality one
3. from crop to full frame
4. from camera bags to camera wraps
5. my camera must come with WIFI so that I can upload my photos immediately without transferring to my laptop

so what is your fav? traditional camera or handphones for capturing your precious moments?

So, Hubs went to make appointment for Zachariah at the dentist. I guess this trip is more to get him familiarized with what dentist does and the equipments? and also to teach us how to brush his teeth..lol. I guess he is not pretty excited over this.

so the dentist manage to take a look at his teeth and also clean some of them

basically I feel that he is too young for this. but is a good exposure though. anyway. the total cost is about close to 100 plus for the experience .lol

[Recipe] Popo Lye's Hakka Yong Tau Fu

Ingredients
400 g of minced pork / chicken
500g of fish paste ( Ready made)
Dash of pepper
corn starch ( if use pork)/ corn flour (if use chicken)
Tau kee ( 1 bag from market)
Tau pok ( 6 pieces)
Tau fu ( slightly harder type)
Bittergourd half
Binja
2-3 Ti Po (dried flat fish)
1 slice of salted fish ( Mui hiong - Mackeral fish)
2-3 tablespoon of bean paste
light soya sauce to taste
water ( more if you want more soup)

Steps
Mix the minced meat in 1 direction. The tip is to make it into a paste by 1 direction so that the meat is not tough. Add in corn starch for pork and mix in 1 direction until it turns into a paste.

Add in pepper and fish paste. Mix evenly in 1 direction. I use hand to mix so it is easier for me to control. The end product should have a tangy feeling

Pan fry the salted fish until golden brown. Add in the salted fish into the paste and mix evenly
Pan fry the ti po until golden brown. Blend it into powder ( if you refer to have some texture, do not need to make it to fine powder). Add into the paste amd mix evenly

Cut the bittergourd in slides of 1 inch width and remove the seeds. Put the paste in between the bittergourd.

Cut a small hole in the tau fu and put the paste inside

Spread the paste on 1 piece of tau kee and then cover it with another piece

Note: you can put the paste on any vegetable you like too. For example Chili / lady fingers..etc

Heat up a wok with oil and deep fried the items and put aside

For Sauce
Add 2 table spoon of oil and salutee the bean paste until fragrant, add in the water follow by the items and shimmer it until soft. Serve when hot
The amount of water is dependent on the number of items u have and how soupy you want it to be. for me, i prefer it slightly more soupy cos i like to go with rice. =)

I would like to take this chance to share the story of this dish to commemorate my late Popo

My late Yeye suffered a stroke when he was in his mid 40s when my daddy was very young. At that point of time, my late popo raised 5 young kids single handedly by making yong tau fu and selling them. At that time, after my yeye suffered from a stroke, both my yeye and popo left the house ( my 2nd popo - yeye's second wife) and stayed in a kampong. Despite being very poor, my popo never fail to ensure that her children has food to eat and a roof to stay.

When I was in my teens, I was a very rebellious girl and I refused to learn anything from my popo. I speak no hakka nor learn the culture of hakka until my popo passed away in 2008 (even until now lolx). I started to know that she cooked wonderful dishes but these were all lost as she did not pass down her recipes. My only source of info will be my daddy. After she passed away, my daddy missed her very much that I decided to remake one of her dishes. After many attempts, I managed to achieve the taste that was "gone". So afraid that this recipe may be lost, I decidd to blog this down as part of my memory.

Last yr I brought Zachariah to the zoo on his birthday. Technically speaking is River Safari. At that time, he was only 1 yr old and I was pregnant with Hannah so I don't dare to explore too far..so I took on the small part of the zoo...Read here

this yr, I decided to be more adventurous and went to the main one. In fact, I went there 2 times straight in a week cos Zach din managed to see some of the animals he love. Since then, he started to fall in love with Lion. -_-

Now at age of 2, he is more interactive and he really enjoy the trip very much

For those who are going to the zoo, do take note of the important things to bring
1. umbrella in case rain
2. insect repellent ( very important cos a lot of mosquitoes)
3. hat / cap
4. water bottle ( refill is available - water cooler)
5. baby carrier ( I brought a stroller and I find it a hassle to bring it up and down the tram)
6. portable electric fan

Well this is not the first time I dine at L'Rez actually and is my XX time hehe. L'Rez is a restaurant operate by the NYP students and recommended by my Neighbour who is a lecturer there. The food menu is actually part of the students' final year project and the restaurant also serve as the internship place for them too.

L'Rez offer fine dining cuisine at affordable price and with 15 bucks per pax ( Public), you get to enjoy course meal. With a small top up, you can opt for their mocktail or their "high end" coffee like Cappuccino or Latte.

L'Rez also changes their menu every school term. For dinning at the restaurant, do call to make reservation and also check out on their website for menu and opening hrs. Note that sometimes due to school holidays or term break, the restaurant may not be open

this year i can finally eat to my heart content lol. no more control diet hehe and we can have couple time together. so hub brought me to Etna - a Italian restaurant. the place is very cosy and is packed with people. do make a booking if you wish to dine there. The food wise i would say that is very good especially their pasta. They are famous for baked fish but you will need to preorder. we ordered their grilled fish which is as good and is very fresh too

[Personal] Seoul Good Day 6 and 7

So Chris and I were thinking of exploring another place further away from the city area which is really really far. We took the train to the extreme last station to visit their indoor snow park call oneMount. Is really fun but taking a train for long hour with Zach is no joke cos he fuss alot in the train.

So we woke up in the morning and headed for some jukk place call Jukk. this place is slightly different from Megabon as they offer more variety of jukk. so we took our breakfast there and tabao some for zach for his lunch

so it was drizzling by the time we reach there

had a quick simple meal at one of their restaurant there. their Zha jiang meon is really good

snow park actually turn out to be a bad idea cos the place is cold and we are totally not prepare for that coldness...i mean is ok for us adults but really bad for zach
we din stay very long so we end up visiting their aquarium instead

we wanted to queue to sit the sledge but end up did not do that cos is super cold for zach so we left

so we left and went to their aquarium instead

is weird as they also have animals and birds in the aquarium haha

after that we took a long train back to Meonydong and then head to one of the local restaurant for some BBQ meat again...yummy

so for day 7, we took a afternoon flight insteadd of a night one..bad choice for us cos zach did not sleep throughout the flight and he was screaming and crying. it was so bad that the air steward requested us to move all the way back to the cabin to calm him down before returining to our seats.
