road trip?

Has anyone done anything crazy like driven to southern CA for a roadtrip? Dianne has/or will have, so many available....hmmmm.

My husband and son did a similar trip from Portland to Richmond over Christmas and had a blast! It was for an older Toyota Corolla inherited from a relative (and free :).

Crazy.

Head Lights -- Low Beam too Low (computer adj)

Last night was my first night experience in my new Gen III/Model II.
The low beam setting on headlights produced a beam that was too low.
Called dealer to request adjustment. He told me they are automatically
set by computer. I assume he meant the on-board computer.
He didn't think he could make an adjustments in the shop.
IS THIS TRUE? ANY IDEAS?

Anyone know the part number for factory fogs?

I'm planning on using my car as a guinea pig to create a fog light harness that works with the factory fogs and utilizes the blank where the parking assist goes. Before I can get started, I need to get my hands on a set of fog lights (either from a wrecked package V or from the dealer). So far my dealer has no idea when they will be able to get ahold of them, or even what the part number is. If anyone has any info that could help, I'd be appreciative. If they aren't TOO outrageously expensive, I may try to work something out with Danny so that whatever kit I come up with will be available through Priuschat.

2" Makes A Big Difference

Just this week my wife and I took delivery of her Series V (w/AT). So far so good.

Before deciding on the Prius V, I had an opportunity to take lengthy test drives in both a Series IV and a Series V that friends had recently purchased.

During those test drives it became very clear very quickly to me that the 17" low profile tires on the Series V made a big improvement difference in handling and just overall road feel compared to the 15" tires on the Series IV.

Although we only have 150 miles on our Series V, I am pleased with the handling. It seems solid on the freeway and stable in turns.

I know that we will be giving up some MPG but we can live with that. And we like the much sportier look of the car with 17" wheels a lot more.

I am in Michigan an my dealer has not received any Prius V. Ordered over 2 months ago no word. I am sad can not wait to get mine. Even though my father said it is a foreign car and I can not park it in his driveway.

Hi gang,

I'm wondering if everyone got the "Toyota HQ" "Product Quality Survey" that I received a few days ago. It generated a user ID and password for me and was fairly detailed.

I was sure to let them know about the cargo net issue. When queried about desired future enhancements I seized the the opportunity to advocate for PHEVs (couldn't help myself).

Anyone else receive one of those emails?

Auto Locking?

Since you really don't need to ever take the key fob out of your purse or pocket to get in the car or start the ignition, I was wondering if the doors automatically lock themselves after you (and the fob) have exited the car??

Could it be? Or is it too good to be true?

So I finally joined the owner's club! :cheer2:

I got a blizzard pearl tech package with solar on Tuesday. Ordered at the end of May. This is my first car, and after reading through many posts here on PC, I was fully expecting to have to argue about dealer installed add-ons and other stuff. Luckily it turns out they (Granville Toyota) were pretty nice. The only thing they tried to sell was the warranty, and a simple no thanks was enough.

They threw in body side mouldings for free and two vehicle services.. And wheel locks? This comes to my first question. In Canada, which accessories come standard? The carpet floor mats we get are one (I think?). Are wheel locks also something that we all get? When the dealer brought out the opened package, I thought at first he was going to try to sell them to me. Turns out he was just explaining that they're already installed and I should keep the key somewhere. (who would steal 15" Prius wheels?)
The dealer also went through a presentation and quick test drive of the car to show me where everything was. He even tried to show me where the LKA was :rolleyes: I didn't have the heart to tell him that there is no LKA in Canadian models. He fully admitted to me already that he wasn't familiar with this model anyway. Apparently this was their first tech + solar so no one there knew too much about it. He had been reading as much as possible in prep for my arrival.
He said to call him if I had any questions. He might not know, but he'd find out for me... That was nice of him, but with everyone here being so knowledgeable, I doubt I will be calling him much :p
Thanks to everything I read here, when the dealer couldn't type in a city name into the nav, I already had an idea that the nav was probably set to the wrong region. Same with SKS, when he couldn't seem to lock the door, it occurred to me that the other fob was probably in the car. This is a great place to come across all this helpful info :thumb:
He was very helpful in showing me where all the none D specific stuff was though. That was good.

But next question: when he was showing me around, he also said something I didn't really know how to gauge. He said that package D's are pretty rare. His dealership would only get 80 allotted in total... Is that very little? I don't know how many of one type of car a dealer normally gets so I really couldn't tell.

Question 3: we don't get the plasmacluster in Canada right? So it's not really clear to me, what does the micro-filter button do? I thought it would be blanked, but it's not.

Question 4: European and Japanese cars get the backup lines in their backup camera. Why doesn't the NA version have this? Cost? Though wouldn't the cost be negligible? There's already a processor that draws other things on screen when the cam is on, so I'd think it would just be slightly different software.

Speaking of other regions, I was a touch disappointed to see that there was no "blank" or door where the hud would otherwise be on a European car. I guess that means it would not be possible to retrofit the hud ourselves! Too sad, the hud is really cool!

Finally, I wish I could say I've really been enjoying my new Prius, but I can't. I've been busy all week that I've hardly set foot in the thing! :mad:

Hello All,

a few weeks ago about two days after I purchased my 2010 Prius IV, I noticed two drops of black liquid that looks like oil from the bottom front grill area. I saw this again today. (as shown in the picture) Has anyone experienced this? if so what is this liquid and what should i do?

High Performance Air Filter

At my first inspection of the engine air filter today, I found it to be made of paper. I was hoping to find it made of cotton at least but it isn't. Looking online, I found no one makes a high performance replacement yet :o. When they do, I'll buy one.

Question for 2010 Prius owners who owned Priuses before...

I have a question for 2010 Prius owners who had owned the Prius Gen2 hybrids.... What driving mode does the old Prius feel like compared to the new one... e.g. does the new Prius Power mode match the older Prius? does it match the ECO mode or somewhere in between?

i read/ heard somewhere that to save money toyota used some camry suspension parts on the new prius. the results were that the new prius has a great ride and is more standardized. sound goofy? i do know that the ride is now very nice and firm

Gen III in stock - Antioch Toyota

I stopped by Antioch Toyota (in town for business) and was early so I thought I would see if they had a V ATP car for me to look at. They had at least 6 Gen III available and 2 of those were V with ATP, one in silver and one in white.

They have a $1,995 dealer mark-up on the sticker but the salesman and sales manager both said they were flexible on that and seemed willing to sell me one for MSRP. Also the two I looked at did not have any forced options installed on them.

I am pretty sure when I am ready to buy I will give them a call and see what they can do for me when the time is right. And just because he was a no pressure, straight shooter, the salesman I spoke with was Roy Gonzales. Offered to let me drive the white one if I wanted; I declined. I would not want someone joy-riding in my next Prius. I know I am going to buy one and do not need to drive one first. Still nice of him to offer.

I have never been to their dealership before and have no association with them at all.

DVD Navigation - where to put the DVD

So I just picked up my 2010 Prius, and the salesman handed me the navigation DVD. For the life of me I can't figure out where it goes, nor can I find in the owner's manual where it goes.
Can someone give me a hint!
