Hello

My wife and I moved to California from Florida in January. Nine months later we traded in one of (my favorite car ever) '06 Infiniti M45 (15.2mpg) for a Blizzard White Prius 3 w/ Navi.
She loves it and I'm searching to find out how I can fall in love with it like everyone else.
We paid $27,400 out the door ($25,149 before everything) and paid $1570 for an extended warranty (which I may cancel)

Any thoughts on the extended warranty if it's worth it or if I should just cancel?

Well about 3 weeks ago my dealer that I bought the Prius called and advised me they were offering incentives on trading in a 2010 Prius that had less that 10,000 miles. I dismissed them at first, but called the guy back and traded in my Prius for a 2011 Venza I can't tell you how much I like feeling the power behind a gas pedal again.. I liked my Prius but felt like something was missing, the Prius I had was missing a lot of the features that I wanted and the Venza came loaded with them.
But thank you everyone for helping me out on the forums! I might be back!

I know this has been asked before but I can not find anything using the search function. I wan't to get a relatively inexpensive power inverter that I can plug into my Prius power outlet or hook up to the jump start terminal under the hood, to power a few things in the house during a power outage. Tractor Supply store had a Schumacker 3000/6000W unit for around $129 that I was considering but the cords that came with it seemed that you had to bolt it right onto the 12v. battery. Can anybody recommend a good, easy to use power inverter. What is the biggest capacity you can use either with the power outlet or hooking up to the jump start terminals. Thanks all!

Torn between an optima SX and a prius. I really like the optima. I know my wife would prefer a Prius, but mostly because of the brand name issue of the optima.

It seem like Prius prices have finally fallen back down to earth. In reviewing the changes between 2011 vs 2012, at least for the top of the line model, the FIVE with NAV which is what I would probably get, it seems the only differences I can see are that the 2012 gets

1) gets HUD
2) gets fake leather and still then has a basic non-leather steering wheel.

Is there anything else I'm missing? If I get the 11 without nav, then no backup camera, but if I do get it with nav, are they the exact same system between 11 and 12 or is the 12 nav/screen still better quality?

Is Entune only applicable to base/non-nav cars?

Truecar.com makes it look like it's not hard to get an 11 for just about invoice. Is the 12 worth waiting for an paying MSRP for? Or get an 11 with an extended warranty?

Was thinking of surprising my wife this weekend.

I just picked up a 2011 Prius III with Solar roof package, pearl white on dark grey interior. I got it at $2500 of MSRP and took advantage of the 2.9% APR for 60 months. Is that a decent deal?

I have a question about the fog light kit: how does it wire into the inside of the car?

I'm happy to report the TPMS works as advertised.. On the day before I went on a 300 mile trip we were out shopping and the warning light came on when we left the grocery store for home. Looking at the tires nothing looked wrong and the car was driving normally. I got out my tire pressure gauge and sure enough the driver side rear was down to 18 psi. Looked at the tread and lo and behold there was a screw imbedded right in the middle. Got the tire repaired and made the round trip from Sacramento area to San Jose with no problems. Could have been a totally different experience had I not been warned!

we are excited to launch a new site Pack Up and Drive | Travel tales from our family of three, which is mainly due to our Prius! The site will focus on towns within a days travel from Middle Tennessee, as the Prius has allowed us a whole new feeling of freedom to explore!

We have new stories coming over the next few days everywhere from unique spots in Nashville to the Gulf Coast to Oktoberfest in Chattanooga. Each review, if out of the area, will also include a resort or hotel in the area, as well as great locally loved restaurants.

We're hoping to cross-market these trips with the Prius and include great shots of it in all the locations.

What a great vehicle, which opens up a whole new lifestyle of exploring and new experiences!

Best to you!

I was very annoyed with the constant verbal instruction of the Nav with every voice prompt, so, I pressed the voice button on the steering wheel to interrupt the instruction(s) and NOW I bypass at will every prompt! Takes seconds to enter my destination, and I CAN use voice while driving.

We just returned from our first trip with our 80 lbs German Shepherd and we're very pleased with how well he traveled in our new Prius. He had no problem standing and moving around the cargo area.

For safety he wears a harness and is connected to one of the rear anchors.

We configured the cargo area as follows ~

seat backs lowered
covered seat backs with the factory carpeted cargo mat rubber side up
installed the factory all weather cargo mat
installed a 72X36 rubber floor runner to protect the liftgate opening and rear bumper

It seems odd that no single piece rubber cover is available to protect the entire cargo area with the seat backs down but I couldn't find one.
