<p>This does not “secure” your site as feeds remain wide open for FeedBurner to find. It’s sort of like deadbolting your door but leaving your window open with only the screen on. If someone wants to view the feed they can.</p>
<p>It is useful for developing a site on a public server and testing out all aspects without actually making the site public.</p>
