Introduction

Digital India is a campaign launched on 2 July 2015 by Government of India with a main initiative includes plans to connect rural areas with high speed internet networks in all over India. Digital India is the dream project of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to ensure that government services are made available to citizens electronically by improving online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity or by making the country digitally empowered in the field of technology.

Concepts And Components

The vision of campaign Digital India is growth in areas of electronic services, products manufacturing, marketing and job opportunities etc.

The whole concept of Digital India campaign is a combination of three basic components.
1- Digital Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen.
2- Delivery of services digitally.
3- Digital Empowerment of Citizens.

To make the campaign successful the government aims to target eight challenges of the Digital India.
1- Creating Broadband Highways.
2- Public Internet Access Scheme.
3- Universal Access to Mobile Connectivity.
4- Reforming Government through Technology.
5- Information for All.
6- Electronics Manufacturing.
7- Digital or IT for Jobs
8- Electronic delivery of services.

Service And Facilities

Through the campaign Digital India the Government of India facilitating various services including several projects and products have already launched or ready to be launched.

Digital Locker

Digital Locker system provides secure access to Government issued documents and aimed at eliminating the use of physical documents and enables sharing of verified e-documents across government agencies. The sharing of verified electronic documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. It will help citizens to digitally store their important documents like PAN card, passport, mark sheets and degree certificates.

Attendance.gov.in

Attendance.gov.in is a website, launched by Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on 1 July 2015 to keep a record of the attendance of Government employees on a real-time basis. This initiative started with implementation of a common Bio-metric Attendance System (BAS) in the offices of central government.

MyGov.in

MyGov.in hasbeen impliminted as a stand for citizen engagement in government through a "Discuss", "Do" and "Disseminate" approach to share inputs and ideas on matters of policy and governance.

Swachh Bharat Mission Mobile app

This app is being used as an interface between people and Government organisations for achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission.

Electronic Sign framework

E-Sign framework allows citizens to digitally sign a document online using Aadhaar Card authentication

It also includes E-Hospital app to ensure the best medical services online.

National Scholarships Portal

National Scholarship Portal is a one stop solution for end to end scholarship process right from submission of student application, verification, sanction and disbursal to end beneficiary for all the scholarships provided by the Government of India.

Next Generation Network

BSNL has introduced the Next Generation Network Scheme to replace 30 years old exchanges, undertake large scale development of Wi-Fi Hotspots throughout the country.

Conclusion

There are various initiatives that conduct research on digital India for performance evaluation.

The impact of the campaign Digital India will generate a huge number of IT, telecom and electronic jobs opportunities in all over India and will make India a digitally empowered country. The success of the campaign ensures the best education, health, agriculture and banking facilities in all over India.
