The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has notified its revised working days and hours.

The office of State Bank Of Pakistan will remain operational from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with prayer/lunch break from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. whereas on Friday office hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with prayer/lunch break from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Banks/Microfinance Banks (MFBs) may prescribe business (banking) hours for public dealing as per their business requirements provided the business (banking) hours being observed by the field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) are complied with as a minimum benchmark for this purpose.

Further, in order to ensure the availability of basic banking facilities to the business community and the public at large, banks/MFBs may open their selected branches situated in major cities/business centers/commercial markets & hubs/ports etc. on Saturdays as per their business requirements.

For the information of customers, banks / MFBs shall prominently display in the concerned branch that this branch will remain open on Saturdays.

The collection booths of banks located at Custom Houses/Ports shall remain open 24/7 as per existing practice. EDB Advises All Automakers Against Regular Price Hikes

Passenger cars are getting more out of reach due to everyday price upsurges by the car assemblers. Since January 2022, automakers such as Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC), Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR), Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC), and a few others have announced multiple price climbs for their respective locally assembled cars.

Engineering Development Board (EDB) has issued a harsh warning to all local car assemblers in Pakistan against the recent price hikes. According to an official document the board has asked all local assemblers to provide their cost structures and explanation for the recent hikes upto 7^th May, 2022.

Automakers are inflexible that they have no choice but to upsurge the prices of their cars due to rising raw material costs, shipment costs, and devaluation of local currency.

The government is extremely worried and has taken a very serious view about the frequent price increases by local automobile manufacturers/assemblers. This state of affairs is clearly unacceptable and the government may consider to initiate regulatory measures, which may include fixation of prices under the Price Control Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act, 1977.

Floating Solar Panel Project in Pakistan by WAPDA

WAPDA is working to implement Pakistan’s first floating solar power project. Mohammad Azam Joya The General Manager of Tarbela Dam, revealed this while speaking at a workshop on the social and environmental impacts of floating solar panel projects.

Floating solar project will be executed in the Tarbela and Ghazi Barotha barrages and will generate 300 megawatts of renewable energy for national grid of Pakistan Each of these projects will have a capacity of 150 megawatt.

This project will take two and a half years to complete and will cost $325 million. Special funding will be provided by the World Bank for this project.

6G Technology commercial officially launch soon 2020-2028

In telecommunications, 6G is the sixth-generation standard currently under development for wireless communications technologies supporting cellular data networks. It is the planned successor to 5G and will likely be significantly faster. Like its predecessors, 6G networks will probably be broadband cellular networks, in which the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells. Several companies (Keysight, Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, Samsung, LG, Apple, Xiaomi), as well as several countries (China, India, Japan and Singapore), have shown interest in 6G networks.

China successfully launched an experimental test satellite with candidates for 6G technology into orbit, along with 12 other satellites, using a Long March 6 launch vehicle rocket. The satellite is intended to "verify the terahertz (THz) communication technology in space

It is understood that all countries have now joined the 6G race, after Nikkei and Tokyo-based research firm Cyber, Creative Institute investigated about 20,000 patent applications for nine core 6G technologies, including communications, quantum technology, base stations and artificial intelligence. Countries with more patent filings tend to lead in advanced technologies and thus have a greater say in industry standards.

6G connectivity has performance requirements that include a peak data rate of 1 Tbps, latency of under 100 µs, etc. Compared to the current networking technology, 6G can deliver 50 times higher peak data rates and reduce latency by 10 times.

PTA has decided to secure automated Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring and benchmarking system to benchmark voice, SMS, and data QoS Key Performance Indicator PTA QoS.

The system will have data collection and data analysis modules and related services incidental to benchmark PTA QoS.

These both voice, SMS, and data QoS KPIs for at least five operators simultaneously and will have the capability to expand to include more operators if required PTA QoS.

Both data collection and data analysis units should support all the technologies including but not limited to Global System for Mobile (GSM) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)/ Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA)/High-Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA)/High-Speed Upload Packet Access (HSUPA)/High-Speed Packet Access+ (HSPA+)/ Long Term Evolution (LTE)/ Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE)/ Long Term Evolution Advance (LTE-Advance) etc. (i.e. 2nd, 3rd & 4th generation wireless technologies) in all bands/spectrum, carrier aggregation in contiguous/non-contiguous bands/technologies and should also be capable to test 5G technologies.

The system would have to bear the specifications including the capacity to test and benchmark QoS across a number of mobile operators (i.e. continuous measurement of at least five mobile networks), with the objective to reproduce end-user experience in different mobile networks, device types, and wireless technologies (2G/3G/4G) operational in Pakistan including AJK Azad Kashmir & GB.

It should have the capability to perform field tests, measure, benchmark, and report QoS Key Advance Indicators (KPIs) as defined in mobile services licensees issued from time to time to Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) in Pakistan, PTA service quality regulation (Cellular Mobile Network Quality of Service (QoS) Regulations 2022).
