We have set this blog up so we can give you far more information than can be placed on our main web site.

We provide quality horse racing betting selections for the UK race meetings and believe we are one of the best around.

So far out of over 400 "tipsters", we have consistantly proved to be in the top 3, a feat which is quite rare among the competition, and something we are quite understandably proud of.

Of course you can go back to the "proofing" sites and double check/verify, its only natural but we hope you will come back, sooner rather than later because the statistics dont lie, and we know what its like trying to find a good service (been there and worn the rain mac).

Many betting services around today will offer you a service that claims hundreds of points profit every year, what they dont like to tell you is you might be laying horses rather than backing them, what this means for the punter is they will need a very large bank to make the kind of profits that they claim to make, heres an example;

We back a horse at a starting price of 10/1 for 10 pounds, if it loses we lose 10 pounds, if a laying service tells you to lay a horse for 10 pounds then your liability will be 100 pounds, meaning you lose 100 pounds, not 10.

Ok, so in real terms if a backing bank of 1000 pounds is used and we want our maximum liability to be 2% or 20 pounds we would back every horse for 20 pounds.
Now using the same starting bank but for laying instead of backing and we use the same liability, IE 20 pounds, you would now only be placing 2 pounds down to lay the 10/1 horse, so if you win the bet you would make 2 pounds and if you lost the bet you would lose 20 pounds, hopefully now you can see how deceptive "laying" profits can be.

We strive to offer our clients an honest and profitable service, the selections used on the main service are for "Backing" only. The profits generated each year are genuine and freely obtainable using the Betting Exchanges, all our results are clearly proofed to two independent services here and here who we have no contact with other than in a proffesional manner.

The latter service used for proofing is "Place" only proofed and this has only begun very recently.

Desert Orchid

One of the greatest race horses to have ever lived.

Desert Orchid was born on 11th April 1979, bred by Jimmy Burridge, Desert Orchid was an unremarkable horse in his early career falling at the 1st fence in only his first race, he never managed a 1st place all year and remained a maiden.

He was trained at the David Elsworth stables, a grey gelding. In his second season he hosed home in his first race start, beating the favourite (Lucky Rascal) at Ascot by 20 lengths.
He ran 8 races in the season 1983/1984, winning six of his starts.

The following season saw him struggle winning only 1 of his 8 starts. In the 1985/1986 season Desert Orchid was sent over the bigger obstacles after falling in his first race over the smaller hurdles, he won four races this season and eventually ran in his first grade 1 race at Cheltenham in the King George v1 chase, winning by 15 lenghts.

Desert Orchid was to win various valuable races over the next few years, but perhaps his greatest achievement was to come in the 1989 Cheltenham Gold Cup, the hair still stands up on the back of your neck when you watch this.

Everything seemed to be against him, the going was heavy, the distance was a step up but he battled all the way, he was a close second to Ten Plus who had been going very well when he fell 3 out, at this point Desert Orchid was joined by the mud loving Yahoo, what we witnessed next was pure courage and determination from one of the greatest race horses to have lived.
Desert Orchid dug in deep and at one point it seemed like Yahoo would win but that was not to be, on the run in he accelerated past Yahoo and won by one and a half lenghts, the cheer from the crowd was immense. His jockey, Simon sherwood was quoted as saying "Ive never known a horse so brave, he hated every step of the way in the ground but dug as deep as he could go."

Desert Orchid was to win the Gold Cup four times along with other top class races before he was retired in 1991, Dessie died aged 27.

Betting exchanges

If you are new to the internet you might be wondering what all this talk is of "betting exchanges" is about.

The betting exchange started about 7-8 years ago, the original exchange was "flutter," here you could back your opinion against anybody who was willing to lay your bet.
There was,nt any bookmaker involved, it was all "peer to peer" and it still works the same way today, only on a far bigger scale.

The problems associated with trying to get your money on with your friendly bookmaker when you are a winning punter dissapeared relatively quickly overnight, there is always somebody willing to take your bet on the exchanges.

The beauty is you can stake large bets on the back side and also the lay side (just like a bookmaker taking your bets). You can act as bookmaker if you wish,

Also the exchanges have a pretty active "place only" market where you can just back the place part of a bet if you wish.

There are millions of pounds traded every week beetween punters offering different opinions on the outcome of virtually all the majour (and minor)racing/sporting/financial/reality tv shows, you name it and its probably there.

Bank Management

If you are serious about making money from your betting then you should have a bank/s put aside for the sole purpose of betting. This money should be viewed as money you can afford to lose, not your wages on a friday night or at the end of the month that you have to pay the bills with, it should be money you wont miss if everything goes pear shaped. Most of us have been there, I know I did on a few occasions although I never risked the "Bills" money, I would sit there in the pub and think to myself I had unearthed something that couldnt possibly lose and if I put my remaining £20 on then I would have 2 or 3 times more to have a really good night out, you guessed, they mostly fell at the last when in front or pulled up after half way and I would be on my home again... sober.

Never drink and gamble on the horses at the same time, the only time I do have a drink and gamble now is when Im having a few games of poker, mostly for fun and never big amounts of money.

Everybody has losing runs and we are no exception, what we can do though is protect our bank to a reasonable enough level to withstand any losing runs whilst balancing this with making sufficient profits for our efforts.

How long have you got ? By this we mean how long do you want to stay in buisness as a (hopefully) winning punter. I can guarantee you will be out of buisness pretty quickly if you set your stakes to high.

Ok, so what do we use? We use 2 banks, 1 for the win part and the 2nd bank for the place part. We are also testing a "staking to win 1 point" bank which is proving to be profitible.

Our win bank is divided into 50 parts for the year (or 2%) and this is the stake we will use all year.

Our place bank is divided into 25 parts (or 4%) and this is the stake we will use all year.

This is a personal choice and one we would gradually scale down as the profits grew, by scaling down we mean reduced the percentage we staked,

Eg; we might eventually end up placing only 1% of our win bank on each selection instead of 2%, we would scale down the place bank stakes in exactly the same way.

All this builds added protection into our banks and means we can handle losing runs far more comfortably.

You have probably read over some of the posts and are wondering what "points" are and what that means, I will explain in more detail later.

Proofing

Please note that ALL our bets are fully proofed on the morning of racing to the tipping league, here we proof our bets to "win only", there has been the odd exception for us to reccomend each way or place but this is very rare and something we wil not be doing in the future.

Ok, for "place only" we have just started to proof these with the racing index, every bet will be to place so we can see quite clearly what the different staking method results are, for every selection.

Remember "tipping league" for the win bets and "racing index" for the place bets.

While we buid our selections up with racing index you can still see "placed only" results at tipping league by changing the "tipsters recomended bet" box.

How are we doing ?

The past two months racing has seen nothing but frustration, Our selections are in the main placed on the NH races, intermittant meetings from one week to the next, strange weather patterns, all providing us with an uphill battle.

Normally the flat racing would provide us with some steady profits too, albeit not as much as the NH but steady none the less, again for some of the reasons mentioned above we have been very cautious this year.

A shocking run off 2nds and 3rds has tested our confidence.

Looking at our last hundred bets shows we have made a 16 point loss to starting price which when we reccommend a 2% stake would have lost you 32% of your bank, we prefer to think of it as "loaning" our money out to the bookies and expect it back with interest.

Using Betfair prices would have shown a 26% loss.

Now for the good news (we do have good news). With the flat season coming to a close and the main NH season about to get into full stride, we fully expect normal buisness to be resumed.

What happens if we had backed the same selections to "place" is a totally different picture ( you can back to place only on the exchanges), here you would have made 12 points profit.
Considering the place strike rate is much higher we would use double the stake we use for "win only" bets, in this case we would use 4%. Your place bank would be up by 48%.

Since starting proofing we have achieved a 33 point profit over 300 bets and a 50 point profit using Betfairs prices, these are for the win selections, you can see that using 2% and betfairs prices you would have doubled your bank.

The same selections using your "place" bank would have achived 32 points profit on Betfair and an increase in your bank of 128%.
