Source was swedish Dagens Nyheter. Quick search on google gave result only of one Slashdot.org article, which referred to same Dagens Nyheter story. Openleaks.org was tweeting 44 mins ago, "site coming soon". So nothing else, only source being swedish Dagens Nyheter and right now I really wouldn't believe anything what swedish media is trying to push out regarding Wikileaks.

This thing smells and pretty badly. If there was rumours about WikiLeaks being CIA operation, more likely I would bet my money that Openleaks really is something fishy, related to CIA operations. Why Dagens Nyheter article is written in english, since they normally write in swedish? Use google translate for reading comments there, most of them are in swedish and comments are really suspicious about the whole news.

Why Wikileaks group would split right now? There is nearly 1,200,000 supporters on Facebook and everything is going forward, despite of US goverment enormous pressure.

So... I would say, Openleaks is hoax, don't believe in it.

http://www.openleaks.org - Who is query leads to Berlin, Germany.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagens_Nyheter - DN is biggest newspaper in Sweden.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://protechblogger.blogspot.com/2010/12/openleaks-probably-hoax.html' title='Openleaks?
I'm following #cablegate hashtag on Twitter.

@ElijahLynn "Syria...had refused to cooperate with President Bush because it did not trust him and because..." #10DAMASCUS8

8. (S) Syria, Asad explained, had refused to cooperate with
President Bush because it did not trust him and because the
Bush Administration had wrongfully accused Syria of
supporting foreign fighters. When President Obama assumed
office, Syria tried to be positive. Asad he had proposed to
Special Envoy Mitchell the idea of a border security
cooperation initiative with Iraq as a first step. (Post
Comment: Asad's recollection is both selective and
inaccurate. U.S. officials first proposed a border security
cooperation initiative to a reluctant FM Muallim in May 2009.
President Asad agreed to participate after meeting S/E
Mitchell in late July 2009.) "This was a small step for me,
but big for you," Asad argued. Citing the U.S. inability to
control its long border with Mexico, Asad said the border was
not the major challenge. Syria's close intelligence
cooperation with Turkey enabled both countries to prevent
terrorists from crossing their 860-kilometer border without
relying on a huge border security presence. This
intelligence cooperation enabled Syria to "suffocate"
logistical networks critical to the movement of terrorists.
"In the U.S., you like to shoot (terrorists). Suffocating
their networks is far more effective," said Asad.

Thanks Facebook, again.

Whole story:

Binary Intelligence: Facebook Leaks IP Addresses

Being bored when Facebook is becoming boring.

Development during last weeks on my Facebook stream, it is so obvious, whole Facebook is fading away. Rich content is really missing, my stream is just full pointless announcements about who is who's new friend and who 'likes' which commercial or non-commercial services, pages, pointless groups for just showing off your personal frustrations, racism etc. one word: BORING!

Nowadays Facebook is becoming really boring place and people are also showing it off with their lack of imagination status updates or complete inactivity. What it means for the business built around social media services like Facebook... really bad times. Facebook stocks, sinking down. Social media and Facebook? Train already passed by.

There is also really a lot of people who dislike constant changes on Facebook privacy settings. I also dislike it and I have been seriously considering about deleting (not just deactivating) my Facebook account.

If there will come up really interesting alternatives for Facebook, I will probably do it or atleast deactive the use of my Facebook account. Lot of my Facebook friends have already started the great escape, it is obvious, you can see it on the news stream, it is really dry and boring.

What interesting Facebook is offering for me today? Nothing. Site has got lot of visitors who think ReadWriteWeb is just another Facebook re-design.

Quote from mattstratton.com:

Yes. Here’s what these rocket scientists did:

1) To log into Facebook, instead of going to http://facebook.com in their browser’s address bar (or maybe, heaven forbid, use a bookmark), these Facebook users simply do a Google search for “facebook login” EVERY TIME THEY WANT TO GO ON FACEBOOK.

2) They ended up clicking on the RWW link in the results (which makes little sense, as even though it was a top 5 hit, it was never #1)

3) They simply see the Facebook Connect button and assume that “logs them into teh Facebooks”

4) They log in and think that the ReadWriteWeb site is “the new Facebook”. And get all pissed off.

5) Hilarity ensues.

Hah.

Read more:

http://mattstratton.com/hilarity/hundreds-of-facebook-users-are-apparently-really-dumb

Excellent post, showing really the essence of how some people are using internet and search engines.

to put back your boxes tab:

1. go back to the page where you removed the Unnamed App from.
2. select "edit settings" for an app under the "added profile boxes" section
3. click remove, then click add when it appears.

Change feed title to 'Recent comments' or whatever you find suitable.

Simple? Yep, no coding needed.

On November 20th I setup an advertising campaign on Facebook for my startup, CloudContacts. The ad setup program crashed a few times but eventually I was able to get the ad running. I selected men and women from 25 to 53 with a college degree as my initial test audience. Facebook told me that there were somewhere about 33 million users for the demographics I selected. Clearly this 33 million number is just profiles they have, not actual activity.

Here are the campaign results:
81k impressions (majority of them in the first 7 days, nearly none since)
6 clicks total for a .01 ctr
$3.23 total spent

Read more + comments:

http://www.centernetworks.com/facebook-ad-campaign-results

Quick comments: Even result for clicks is horrible, I think 81 000 impressions sounds really good. You get your brand on peoples mind and maybe some did later a google search with brand name, instead of clicking ad.

US or whole world is really big market area. I bet facebook ads work better on smaller scale, like example targeted to certain country or region.

Are Digg users actually viewing digged links?

Ok. Many times I have been wondering if Digg users actually view links they are digging. Today I got some kind of proof they don't do it.

This IRAN- Police runs away video got into TOP5 on Digg News section. Right now there is over 400 diggs, but video has been viewed only less than 500 times.

Conclusion: Either Youtube stats are wrong or then Digg users are not really viewing what they are digging. They just digg because others are digging too.

Video clip is over week old, which is really easy to see from Related Videos on Youtube. Original video was uploaded 13.06.2009 to Youtube.

So Digg users digged into TOP5 News something which was over week old. I only can understand this weird scenario by stating that Digg users are not really viewing links they digg. Twitcaps allows you to search, browse and capture the latest images posted to Twitter via any of the popular Twitter image services (Twitpic, yFrog, Twitgoo, etc). From the Twitcaps interface, you may capture an image for later use, re-tweet the image on your own Twitter feed, or share the image on any number of social linking services.

I guess Twitcaps is also good way to find new Twitter friends and keyword is real-time. Usually blogs are using same cloned template.

So why to use cloned template? Why not to make unique design for each blog? If you blogs niches are quite similar, stantard design makes whole thing look more professional and it is also easier to maintain, since you can copy/paste code between blogs.

If you use your own php/sql-based service, you probably can control whole blog package from one admin panel. It also makes easier to maintain advertising, widgets etc. stuff related to your blogs.

So, what I suggest to do. Start blogging with one blog, tune it into top notch condition, then clone it into small army of blogs. Recruit writers or use guest columnists, if you don't have time to create content for all your blogs. You can keep your original blog as the mothership blog, where you drive your sustained traffic to your other blogs.

Comments? Without any additional code, banner was causing me grey hairs, because it was destroying left column layout. I think problem was with iFrames, which quite many banner exchane programs etc. are using.

My simple solution - without spending extra time for google searches etc. - was to use good old table structure. With tables it is quite easy to get your banners in decent order and look nice on your layout, no matter if they use iFrames code or not. Check example on www.w3schools.com.

Any other clever solutions for banners with iFrames code? Probably there are 3-column blogger templates with built-in slots for 125x125 banners?

This blog will get major face-lift with gfx and stuff, hopefully before New Year, meanwhile you can enjoy of current modest basic Blogger template. ;)

Want to know amount of web traffic for certain website or blog?

Forget Alexa, this is much more interesting tool for peaking amount of web traffic:

www.websiteoutlook.com/

Why? Because Alexa only ranks top 100,00 pages and there is plenty of interesting stuff beyond Alexa's ranking.

Basically idea for websiteoutlook.com is to estimate value for your own website or some other website, but you can use it also for other purposes, since it is showing amount of daily page views for any url you feed on it. I think it is quite cool tool for checking how much to pay for ad slot on certain website. You could use it for estimating where to buy entrecard ad slots.

Of course daily page views is not only measurement for estimating value of certain ad slot, but it is a good start. Most of other info (bouncer rate, returning visitors etc.) only webmasters know and they probably won't share that info.

FYI... websiteoutlook.com has 140,000 daily page views and value (based on web traffic) is $304161.8 USD... not bad.

Google search for your niche related blogs which have shoutboxes.

Chat- or shoutboxes on blog pages, how you could use them for promotion? I'm talking about in a way, where you are not going to be considered as pro-spammer, but kind of efficient way, so you don't have spent too much time with it.

My idea, this is actually development of Kid Tech Gurus tip

So original KTG's tip was this:

Type the following keywords in Google:

Cbox - allintext:[get a cbox]
Oggix - intext:"by. oggix.com"
Tagbox - "powered by tagbox"

My tip is:

Type the following keywords in Google:

Your niche keywordX + blog + allintext:[get a cbox]
Your niche keywordX + blog + intext:"by. oggix.com"
Your niche keywordX + blog + "powered by tagbox"

+ including one popular blog shoutbox here:

Your niche keywordX + blog + intext:"shoutmix"

So for example: 'blogging resources blog "powered by tagbox"'

And you get... oops! Check first result. So this was not KTG's own idea or it was just development of someone elses blog posting? KTG busted? Anyway, FYI... it would be allways nice to include source, when recycling someone elses older idea. ;) :D :D

Anyway... lets continue, so you can repeat search so many times as you can imagine good keywords related to your niche. When you find nice blog related to your niche, leave a message and maybe you could have shoutbox on your blog for webmasters to leave their response.

Since you search for blogs related to your own niche, I don't think it is so bad, you could consider it as networking.... or? :D :D

Anyway... I might give it a try, it is not such a bad idea, maybe twitter automated messages or feed flooding could be considered more spam than this idea. I think it is a nice and low cost method to network, specially if you are with low traffic and need to find new readers for your blog.

Any comments? :)
