Luke, our man on the road, has an enviable job indeed. Roaming the Northern Hemisphere passing out bars to one and all, spreading the good word about PROBAR and meeting so many cool people. What else could a guy look for in a gig?

One of those “cool people” and a recent beneficiary of Luke’s PROBAR philanthropy is Jon Glassberg of Boone, North Carolina which is a hotbed for top notch rock climbing.

After eating some bars he sent us this summary of what it’s like to eat a PROBAR, along with some images from the life of a climber in Boone.

Eating a Pro Bar is like foraging in nature except you don’t have to eat grubs and berries to make a keen snack. What really tickled me was the meal replacement concept that a compact Pro Bar was able to give me: unadulterated raw power. I went from lethargic and uncoordinated to the top of my game with one Koka Moka as a morning snack.

A long weekend of backcountry bouldering with first ascents to be done comes with its share of cleaning boulders, long hikes, fording rivers and fighting your friends away from your Pro Bars. I am a big guy and fueling my massive frame is no easy task…

2 bars a day at 360 calories a piece makes 720 durable and hard working calories at a mere 170 grams.

In the face of all the other food options that claim to be both convenient and wholesome for my voracious appetite, I choose pro bar because their advertising isn’t just a hollow promise; it is a follow through on a commitment to provide a healthy sustainable food for an active climbers lifestyle.

~ Jon Glassberg
Boone • North Carolina

I particularly liked this more candid exert from an e-mail that Jon sent us. I hope he doesn’t mind me posting it here.

I ended up eating a handful of the PROBARs you sent me and I have to say they made the 20 or so miles of hiking we did this weekend a whole lot easier. 2 of those bad boys a day really helped.

I can’t get enough of the Apple Cinnamon. Something about hiking in and out with only a few bars and a sandwich makes carrying a pile of “other food” seem silly.

Thanks Jon for the feedback and welcome to the PROBAR family!

While biking across this great country, Mike Mann and Carolyn Hall finally found us, I mean to find Art, the founder of PROBAR. But they had to wait until Idaho, and a town I’ve never heard of. (They started in MA).

If only they would have found Art and PROBAR in Ohio, orPA. Regarless, they found us and had a tale to tell. We’re just glad to have been with them for the last stretch to Oregon.

It all began in Kooskia Idaho, in isle 4 at the local grocery store. A friendly-lookin’ guy came up to us and asked if we were cyclists, to which we replied looking down at our ridiculously silly looking outfits, “Yep, we’re riding across the country.”

“ Have you guys ever heard of Probar?” he asked. Well we hadn’t up to that point, and had been snacking mostly on gas-station donuts and cheese ‘product’ crackers.

He looked at us mildly surprised. “Oh man. These things are full of awesome raw food.” Being the label readers we are (or should we say, used to be before this trip) we asked what was in them.

“Well… they have organic rolled oats, organic brown rice syrup, organic raisins, organic dates, organic raw sunflower seeds, organic almond butter, organic cashew butter, organic raw coconut, carob chips, raw cashews, organic rolled rye, organic brown flax seeds, strawberries…” He continued to list all the ingredients verbatim. ”By the way, my name is Art, the Founder of Probar.” He said smiling.

After talking for a while, Art went out to his truck and gave us a whole pile of bars to take with us on the rest of our journey. We rather gleefully took them and tucked them away in our panniers.

These tasty bars were especially helpful going through the Columbia River Gorge (west-bound) where we were battling 15 to 35 mile an hour headwinds for several days.

Without them we probably would have been totally exhausted, run down or weeping by the side of the road. In the end we were extremely grateful that we had run into Art at the little grocery store in Kooskia, Idaho.

Check out some of these images from their ride. Hopefully Mike or Carolyn will chime in with a comment about their home-made “Broken Bike” sign and the adventure that followed.

Here’s some of what Jeff of Gear Geeks had to say about PROBAR:

Probars are kind of like energy bars that pack a bunch whole, organic, raw ingredients into a healthy bar that’s not like eating a cardboard box, like some other energy bars. They taste decent and really do fill you up…

Park City, Utah – September 15, 2008 – Industry leader in wholesome, nutritious organic whole food bars, PROBAR, announces the launch of the 2008 - 2009 nationwide RV tour. The eye-catching and brightly branded PROBAR RV is set to drop by and offer samples at several coffee, smoothie, and climbing gym locations as well as natural product tradeshows across the country.

This road trip will have newly appointed National Sales Nomad, Luke Evans at the wheel while recently promoted National Sales and Marketing Manager, Jason Lambert, will coordinate and organize the tour’s schedule and itinerary from Park City, Utah.

“We are a small, grassroots company with big flavor,” says Lambert. “This tour is an awesome way to reach out and solidify our brand while most importantly connecting more with people and giving them a more personal look into not just our product, but our vision and passion for healthy food and a healthy lifestyle.”

Lambert has been a pivotal asset and key factor to the company opening the door to the coffee and smoothie shop markets. Prior to his promotion, Lambert was responsible for adding an impressive number of new customers to the PROBAR family, thus resulting in stronger brand awareness and popularity.

“Jason has an extraordinary presence,” notes PROBAR’s CEO, Jeff Coleman. “His hard work and dedication has been one of the fundamental reasons for PROBARs growth and expansion. We are thrilled to have him as a member of senior management.”

The RV tour will include Art Eggertsen, PROBARs founder and current Director of Research and Development at various locations speaking on the subject of his expertise – food and its benefits for your health and the environment. Eggertsen has dedicated over 15 years to promoting and educating individuals, everyone from athletes to recovering cancer patients, about leading a healthy life through eating well.

The PROBAR RV hits the road early September with first stops in Idaho and Washington areas and exhibiting at the annual Coffee Fest in Seattle. If you see Luke and the PROBAR RV, say hi and see if he has a free bar for you. The RV has scheduled stops in the following major cities and surrounding areas for the remainder of the year before turning course east: Portland, Eugene, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, and Albuquerque.

If you are interested in having the PROBAR RV stop and visit your store, please contact Jason Lambert, Jason AT theprobar DOT com for more information and scheduling opportunities.

PROBAR, created in the mountains of Utah, is the choice for wholesome, delicious organic food in the convenience of a bar.

We hear from customers quite often that they are looking to go to a raw diet or to at least supplement their diets with more raw foods and when you’re on the go and craving something more than celery, PROBAR seems to land on the radar sooner or later.

We’re glad that Pam and her husband found PROBAR and have kept it as part of their diet.

My husband and I started out about 5 years ago being overweight and though we didn’t really have any real health problems we knew down the road what these problems could lead to. And that was just one road we didn’t care to go down!

So we started searching out healthier version of what we liked and a more sensible diet which lead us to eating the raw food diet.

At that time there just wasn’t a whole lot of raw bars out there or anything that resembles non-cooked bars that tasted good. One day we were in a health food store and found PROBAR and we were elated to find it but the true test would come when we ate one….OMG! we were in heaven!

The flavor just comes out and grabs you!

Now, even though we are not on the raw diet anymore these bars are still a staple in our diet. The new flavors are so excitable and yummy! So now we feel like we can have our cake (bar..lol!) and eat it too! Keep PROBARING folks cause they are the BEST!!!!

That’s our story and were sticking to it…lol!!!

Pam Striker/Ohio

While PROBARING may not be an accepted word, we’ll keep doing what we do best Pam. Thanks!

What more can I say? PROBAR customer and health bar fanatic Steven Hatzakis sums up just how awesome PROBAR is far better than I could ever do. Check out his testimonial.

PROBAR is by far the finest, most compact ration or meal replacement energy- exercise bar that is currently on the market today and that I have ever tried before. I have shopped at almost every health food store in NYC and have purchased many health food BARS over the last 8 years and have yet to find anything that comes close to this bar.

As a health enthusiast, advocate and amateur endurance athlete - I have always been very aware of food product ingredients and how companies process their foods products.

Since late 2000 I have always looked very carefully at the ingredients when purchasing various meal replacement bars or health snacks as the market for health snacks starting to grow and become more and more popular, there were only a handful of companies that I choose.

Since coming across TheProbar.com it is with out question the first bar I look for when food shopping. The list of ingredients will impress even the most inexperienced shopper and dazzle the bar lovers with a rainbow of flavors in each bar. I either eat one when just hungry, throw one in my briefcase to take to work or take a few with me during a long distance run or bike ride when I need to replenish energy.

What I like most about PROBAR is that you get a hefty amount of the best Calories from superfoods and good ratio of electrolytes (sodium and Potassium) which are naturally occurring as well as high fiber Carbohydrates, Essential Fatty acids, and proteins all of which are either plant or seed derived.

And last but not least the taste will excite and nourish anyone’s palate because of the huge variety and blend of fine ingredients (not to mention this product was clearly made with a lot of love) lol.

PROBAR is truly a must for health bar fanatics or anyone looking for the best superfood health/energy bar available.

Best Regards,
Steven Hatzakis

I arrived at the Beautiful Blue Sky RV Park to find that an RV parked in the spot next to where we were supposed to park had BLOWN-UP!

Seriously, the park manager said it was all caused by a Pop-Tart in the toaster. I am very glad that my schedule didn’t permit me being here for that as the PROBAR RV would have certainly caught fire!

It has been an exciting couple of weeks to say the least. Jason and I were fortunate enough to take a tour through the Starbucks Corporate Headquarters and do a Coffee/Tea tasting. They were very hospitable and it was interesting to hear their history as a company that has grown to where it is now……they’re everywhere!

Art and I did several events for REI (Recreation Equipment Inc) including a sampling at the Distribution Center and Corporate Headquarters. It was great to meet the peeps who make the REI gears turn and talk to them about PROBAR.

My escape from the RV park this past weekend brought me to the small Bavarian town of Leavenworth. I had heard about this place from my friend Jeremy Park who works for Outdoor Research. He was traveling there with some friends so I lucked out in having a guide for all things bouldering and also some of the great food spots in town. (Including the Munchen “Bratwurst” Haus that actually had a delicious Vegan Brat).

We had an awesome time exploring the different bouldering areas and wearing down our fingertips until we couldn’t climb anymore. I will definitely be going back to Leavenworth to finish up some projects.

Next time I go, my partner in climb and soon to be wife (Amanda) will be with me…..can’t wait!

Fitness instructor and PROBAR customer Jill Bellm could either buy our bars online or would have to travel a long way from Canada to the United States to find a PROBAR. That was then, this is now. Thankfully she and all of our Canadian customers will soon find our bars in smoothie shops and local health food stores as we’ve started to distribute our bars in Canada.

Check out her love of the bar that we’re glad to introduce in Canada.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEE this bar.

I’m a fitness instructor and I’m training for a marathon in San Francisco right now. I have tried MANY bars in the past - but I can say with out hesitation this is the most delisious bar I have ever tasted!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found out about the bar thorugh a girlfriend that is also training and had traveled to the states(Idaho) and found these bars down there. So she couldn’t stop raving about them!!!

I went to every shop I know that sells bars and no one here had them. I was very disappointed, so I finally went on line to discover that I could purchase them.

I’m on my way to Calgary tomorrow - so I’m hoping someone in Calgary has them. If not I’ll definately be ordering some on line. Hopefully Calgary will have what I consider to be the best #*@% BAR I have ever tasted!! IT’s THAT GOOD!!

I’m thankful that someone FINALLY came up with a fabulous tasting energy bar!!

THANK U!!!

We received this story from Allen Hughes who after discovering PROBAR in his meals while at the Boy Scouts of America’s Philmont Scout Ranch, he later took the bars to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he and a crew of scout volunteers teamed up with the Forest Service to create the Arrow Trail which is a mountain bike trail that has been well received by Jackson locals.

Thanks for your community service Allen and for being one of many new customers thanks to finding our bars at Philmont this past summer.

I was a participant in the Order of the Arrow’s Arrow Corp 5 this summer. This is where we sent 5000 arrowmen to 5 National Parks (1000 each) over 5 weeks. I was at the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

There were over 1100 participants on site for a week. We cut over 11.5 miles of new bike trail in the Teton Pass, removed over 5 miles of fencing in the Goosewing, redirected numerous raods in the Gros Ventre, and reduced fuels in the Falls Creek.

Probars were in our Philmont Scout Ranch meals and these little wonders sustained us at high altitudes >7500 feet, while performing strenuous activities invovled with trail blazing.

The organic grains mixed with the nuts and seeds all held together with the sweet fruit juice was a joy in the afternoon when the bodies were giving out. The bar was like a treat and the carbohydrates pumped us up for another two hours of work.

If you get to Jackson Hole, mountain bike the Arrow Trail and see what the Order of the Arrow and Probars have created.
