Daley | Those Who Wait

2015-02-07T11:37:00.005-08:00

If you haven't heard of Daley, you need to head to YouTube, Spotify immediately after you listen to this live version of his song "Those Who Wait" below. He's such an exceptional artist and this track really spoke to me. The song-writing is just spot-on and I see my life within his words. I think the phrase "slow and steady wins the race" is the perfect way to describe this track and this is something I have to continue to tell myself when I'm moving too fast. His album, Days and Nights, is currently out and it is amazing! Check him out now! Enjoy!

New Music: COIN | "Run"

2015-01-26T14:19:00.000-08:00

It has certainly been a minute sing I have updated my blog. It took some real focus to get me to my last semester in college. Only a few more months and i'll be "free!" On this cold and boring Monday, I have come across something the belongs on my "Summer Feels in the Winter" playlist. The band is called COIN and they have plenty of great songs. They even have a free download on their official website for their song "It's Okay". Their newest single "Run" is pretty good and it makes me wish I were in 80 degree weather with sun and a nice breeze...but I guess this will have to be enough. You can stream it now via Idolator.com (just click the link) and ENJOY!

You Oughta Know: Sweet Da Kid

2014-04-06T19:36:00.005-07:00

If you're into rap, you might find this new guy someone to keep tabs on. His name is Sweet Da Kid (real name unknown). He is currently an underwraps artist and all we know about him is the crazy song "Don't Forget The Name." I can't wait to hear more from this guy and hope it comes within the next year. You can download the track here and check out the video below. Enjoy!

Magic Man: Paris

2014-03-11T15:42:00.003-07:00

One of my favorite bands right now is Magic Man! They have come such a long way in just less than a year, and I have been so thrilled to work on their projects for marketing. I've had the opportunity to see them five times and every time their performances get better. They are making some great strides in their music and visibility. I love "Paris" and they finally have their first official music video for it. Check them out and you won't be disappointed. These guys are my personal favorites and their success means a great deal to me since I've seen them perform for 10 people to hundreds and hopefully by the end of SXSW, a good thousand. Enjoy!

Sleeper Agent

2014-02-08T06:19:00.000-08:00

Just now getting into this band, Sleeper Agent, and I have to say I am a fan. I saw them a few weeks ago in Atlanta at Terminal West in Midtown and it was an awesome time. They have such a cool alternative rock sound. They note bands like The Pixies (which I saw this week and they were sick) and Cage The Elephant as their influences. I hear a combination of both those bands making up the sound for Sleeper Agent. They are about to drop a new album called About Last Night on March 26th and if it sounds anything like "Waves," their newest single, it will be great! If you go to their site, you can download a free copy of the new single. You can also catch these guys on tour now!

Foster The People

2014-01-26T18:46:00.001-08:00

Finally, a new Foster The People album is on the horizon. With the announcement of a March 18 release date, comes a chance to pre-order and hear anew song "Coming Of Age." They created a cool mural on a building in California. It's considered the largest mural in the west coast. Check out the time-lapse video and hear the new song. Enjoy!

You Oughta Know: Kesington Kross

2014-01-17T18:35:00.003-08:00

Recently signed to Epic Records by LA Reid, Kesington Kross or Kes has released an EP entitled Audio Justice that is sure to make waves in the music industry. This is a new year for R&B and Kes is taking the genre to an entirely new level. The sound is classic, yet so current. From cool hip-hop, pop vibes of "Gimme Your Love" to experimental sounds from "Arabian Paradise," Kesington has something for everyone. It will be interesting to see what Kes continues to create in the future. Take a listen to his debut EP below and check him out on Facebook and Twitter. Enjoy!

Music Video Munday: The Neighbourhood

2013-10-21T19:28:00.004-07:00

The Neighbourhood has been steadily climbing the charts and breaking through to the mainstream scene. They are well known for their #1 hit single, "Sweater Weather," but the recently released single "Afraid" has been gaining a lot of speed on the charts as it heads to the top 20 of the US Alternative charts. They just released a new music video for the new single, and while it is graphic, it captures the very essence of the song and I could not be more excited to be working on some of their stuff. It speaks on the insecurity and vulnerability of man in its darkest form. If you ever get the chance to see these guys live, do it! I saw them in Atlanta at Music Midtown and they killed it, and then they sold out a show in New York City during CMJ where they electrified the entire venue full of fans, music geeks, and music industry execs! Enjoy!

Music Video Munday: HAIM

2013-09-23T11:09:00.000-07:00

Probably my top band obsession for the past seven months! HAIM is one of the top rising bands of this year and will continue to gain awareness into the 2014. Their new album, Days Are Gone, drops on the 30th, which you can pre-order on iTunes here. This album will easily be nominated for a Grammy, and I expect it to win! They are funky, they are classic rock and they channel inspiration from Fleetwood Mac, Destiny's Child and TLC. They incorporate everything into their sound. I got the chance to hear them live during SXSW and was blown away by their overall quality and entertainment factor. With top hits like "Don't Save Me" and "Go Slow," they are for sure to breakthrough successfully.

Here is their newest video "The Wire."

Quadron

2013-09-14T18:50:00.001-07:00

It's been a while since I've put up another blog, but I come back with a great musical treasure that has been hiding from my ears. The Denmark duo group is called Quadron and features Coco O and Robin Hannibal. They are a combination of indie/neo-soul with some oldies/motown and R&B elements. This group reminds me of an Lauryn Hill and Solange combo. I got a chance to see Quadron at the One Music Fest in Atlanta, Georgia. It was an amazing experience and everyone was dancing and vibing to the atmosphere that Quadron brought to the show. Coco O, the lead singer of the group, is a power house and by the end of the show she was blowing notes that took the crowd to another place. While Quadron has had two successful album releases, they are starting to gain more traction in the United States. Their most recent album, Avalanche, is pretty dope. Some of my favorites from the album include "LFT" and "Baby Be Mine" and "Better Off." My absolute favorite track is "Pressure" and Coco killed it as her last song of the night. The crowd favorite was one of her singles called "Hey Love." I'm so glad I got a chance to check them out. You can find some of their content below! Enjoy:)

John Legend: Made To Love

2013-06-20T22:58:00.000-07:00

John Legend is literally teasing me with this new single, "Made To Love." If his upcoming album, Love In The Future, is anything like this track it will be nothing short of greatness. It's futuristic soul and I'm so ready to take off on that musical journey. The single features Kimbra and it's quite obvious that she fit right in to what John Legend was trying to accomplish. John is definitely reinventing himself and his new album may not sound like Evolver or even Get Lifted but it will be so much more than that. The song was first heard on the 2014 Chevrolet Impala commercial and it was a more stripped down version. If you haven't heard is other two singles, look up "Who Do We Think We Are" (the music video is cool classy) and "The Beginning." You guys don't understand how bad I need this album! If I ever had a musical muse, it would be this brilliantly talented man! Have a great Friday and enjoy the sounds of new soul!

FYI this is my 70th blog post, and i'm dedicating it to John Stephens!

Oooh I've never seen anything
It's much more than you and me
Extraordinary machine
Oooh I've never loved, I've never loved
Never loved someone like this
All I know is...

[Verse 2: John Legend]
Oooh, have you ever known
We laid your eyes on
The perfect work of art
I knew right from the start
Oooh, I was never sure of a God before
But I know he must exist
He created this...

#ThrowbackThursday: Eagles

2013-06-20T14:06:00.000-07:00

Today was a chill day, and while I was outside in the cool Austin breeze I kept singing "Hotel California". It only seemed fitting to put this on my throwback post. "Hotel California" is one of the greatest songs of all-time as suggested by Rolling Stone and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The guitar interplay between Don Felder and Joe Walsh (also one of the greatest guitarists of all-time) at the end of the track is real life. They displayed a true sense of what the good life would be like in California; Almost like a surreal experience or high that you never want to come down from. Well anyways, have a chill day, and enjoy.

"Hotel California"

Eagles

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
"Please bring me my wine"
He said, "We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine"
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man,
"We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "

Album: Kanye West

2013-06-19T15:20:00.002-07:00

Is Kanye West demented, or could he possibly be one of the most sane and truthful artists of his time? That is the question I continue to ask myself as I listened to his sixth album, Yeezus. In what is his most darkest and vulgar projects to date, he goes well beyond his normal artistic ability to just opening up his most inner thoughts on race, religion, power, and women. This album is an open diary of an artist who knows very well of his influence on a large portion of society, and chooses to use his mic for the purposes of "sticking it to the man." Corporations, record label execs, and other business outsiders will never have an influence on Kanye which allows him to do exactly what he wants, how he wants, and whenever he wants. At a time in music where his colleagues including Jay-Z, Beyonce and a host of other highly regarded artists are partnering with companies to ensure mainstream promotion and success, he chooses to reject all of that and do things his way, and what we get is authenticity in all its narcissistic glory. This album was not intended for radio, which I enjoy more because I feel like I am experiencing the real Kanye.

The nasty production cooked up on this album is unlike anything out right now and his inner circle of musical architects brought their A-game to help paint a picture of the world in which Kanye dwells in. Rick Rubin was the executive co-producer and he brought a contained perspective to Kanye's album with his concept of stripping down the sound and creating a simple, and minimalist tone (which was most likely Kanye's goal) What could have been an overwhelming, and unappealing experience turned out to be a real work of art. The futuristic touch of the synthesizer was brought to the album courtesy of Daft Punk, and gave the album the edge that is not only different, but potentially a game changer for rap music. While there is plenty of EDM and Chicago house styled elements on the project, Kanye ventures off into experimental hip-hop, Marilyn Manson-esque industrial rock, and even some Hindi and Hungarian musical elements. There is a plethora of experimentation on this album (which he recorded in a Paris hotel) that proves Kanye is constantly reinventing himself and not allowing his work to become another album akin to the high concentration of mainstream music we hear today. Other producers on this album also include Bon Iver, No ID, and Hudson Mohawke.

The album opens up with a Daft Punk inspired track, "On Sight." This is definitely giving me that European dance club vibe that you find down a dark alleyway. In his most humble tone of voice, he tells us basically how ill this album is about to be and that anything you have previously heard, it is no longer worth your time. The chorus is particularly interesting when it says "He'll give us what we need, may not be what we want." because I get the impression that he knows exactly how we are going to approach his album. The critical response toward this album is split, some get it, some don't, but I do feel he's giving us something that is well beyond our time.

"Black Skinhead" is a very bass heavy, industrial song with loud drums attacking the lyrics while West engages in a dialogue that discusses interracial dating, anti-racism, and anti-establishment (anti-everything not good to Kanye). The tribal nature of the song makes the song like it's his call to war and it's the world versus King Kong AKA Yeezus AKA Kanye West (it's all the same). He also takes jabs at the current rap industry saying that nobody is pushing the boundaries anymore, but he'll take care of that. Then he ends with himself literally screaming "God," which we will infer that he is talking about himself. Which lead us to his next track "I Am a God" and if you bought the album, you'll notice that it also features God himself. I literally don't even know how to feel about that. It's narcissistic, ballsy, clever, degrading.....it's everything. Here he basically professes his greatness despite being criticized for his actions, fashion, and music. Until someone he feels is greater than him takes him out, is the only time he will bow out. On the discussion of if he really thinks he is God, it's a stupid question to ask. One of his first hits was "Jesus Walks," and in the track he has two different meanings of what God is, himself (god) and a higher God. There is some biblical truth to that and i'll let you look up Psalms 82:6 as reference. His argument that he is a "close high" god makes it seem like he feels his music is divine and that you just can't touch him. The line I love the most on this track is when Bon Iver goes "Ain't know way i'm giving up on my God." This is some definite wordplay because not only is he never gonna give up on his religion, but he is not gonna give up on himself either.

"New Slaves" was the song played on SNL, as well as projected on the streets of various major cities across the world. This song defiantly gives a slap in the face to idea of corporate control. He feels lots of people bow down to corporations especially privately owned prison companies that make money off of locking up men and women of color. This album is full of exposure, and Kanye is telling the public what's going on. He's seen more than the average person, and therefore I feel like he does deserve a lot of credit when he discusses topical issues such as the DEA and CAA involved in immoral activity. Frank Ocean comes in at the end creating a contrast in the tone of Kanye's aggressive nature to a more soulful conclusion, and it creates a free and unchained experience which I infer to be Kanye trying to say that he is free and not bound by corporate control, racism and power hungry execs.

"Hold My Liquor" is auto-tune heavy and features Chief Keef and Justin Vernon. It's more or less about his issues with an ex and how he shows up to her house for sexual activities. He claims that he can hold his liquor, but the song completely negates that first statement and shows how vulnerable he is while he is under the influence. Don't give Yeezus anymore to drink.

"I'm In It" is what is-a sexual experience. He uses Martin Luther Kings "Free at last" line to describe the freedom of a woman's breasts. Of course, only Kanye would use a powerful line that promoted civil rights and equality and relate it to him being able to free a woman of her bra. Assassin, a Jamaican artist was featured on this track, with the largest portion of lyrics of all the collaborations featured on the Yeezus album.

"Blood On The Leaves" was also about an ex-relationship. And he uses a sample from the infamous Nina Simone rendition of Billie Holidays song "Strange Fruit," which was about lynchings. So once again, here come Kanye using songs with important messages to get across his frustration with a girl sitting across the court at a basketball game. He also takes shots at groupies and rappers, while sampling lines from Snoop Dogg and C-Murder. The track is pretty over dramatic in the very least. He dwells even further on failed relationships in "Guilt Trip" with a backing from Kid Cudi. This is actually my favorite track on the album. Some people forget that he is human, and capable of sadness, and this is definitely a portrait of his tattered feelings. The laser gun sounds that you hear on the track are a perfect supplement to the line "Cause it's the time when my heart got shot down." This song also samples Pusha T's "Blocka" track.

"Send It Up" which samples Beenie Man and features King Louie has a bunch of wailing sirens that sound like a club hit. It's more about groupies and drug usage, and more sexual content. It's not too much of a grand experience, but it's there.

Lastly, "Bound 2" is blast from the past track from old Kanye that everybody first fell in love with. He lays a soulful sample down and raps over it. Classic Kanye. This is one of my favorite tracks that speaks about finally having real love that actually lasts longer than his sexual encounters. It features Charlie Wilson, who is definitely the appropriate person for this track to talk about real love. He raps about marriage and his imperfections in dealing with women. I feel like he humbles himself here and hopes that the woman he marries ends up being able to put up with him cause Kanye is tired of being absent of true love for someone. More word play comes at the end when he says "I'm tired, you tired, Jesus wept," which ironically concludes the track, and the deluxe album version.

I really did enjoy the Kanye West album, and regardless of how others feel I hope he continues to speak as freely and uninhibitedly as he feels. Whether he may be stupid or crazy or a musical genius, he has definitely created a piece of work that people will talk about whenever they mention his name. I do feel that he has transcended rap music, and music in general and will continue to do just that. Crossing musical genres is and having the ability to freely speak your mind is always a sign of a musical innovator, and he's nothing short of that. If Kanye is insane, i'll have what he's having cause he's creating music that is beyond you and me. And if you disagree, please refer back to "On Sight" for his humble response.

Album Tuesdays: Daft Punk

2013-06-04T20:57:00.002-07:00

The Daft Punk album was released three weeks ago and since its release I have been in a musical coma that I never wanted to get out of. The album is called Random Access Memories and features a lot of instrumentation using the synthesizer. I was first introduced to the synthesizer from the Gotye album and since then I've always enjoyed the breadth of creativity that can stem from a single instrument. The album also features collaborations from Pharrell Williams, Paul Williams, Julian Casablancas and a few more. If you listen to mainstream radio, you should already be aware of Daft Punks song "Get Lucky" featuring Pharrell Williams. This track has successfully crossed over to mainstream radio with its funky vibe that reminds me of 60's or 70's night at a local roller rink. Pharrell is also featured in "Lose Yourself To Dance"which contains his irresistible high-pitched vocals. I've always said anything Pharrell touches would be gold, and there is no exception here. I don't think anyone would have thought of Daft Punk collaborating with Pharrell, but they make quite the pairing and it gave Daft Punk the right kind of exposure to reach a larger audience before the albums release.

The sound of this album is not of this time! There's a mix of musical elements from the past (hip hop, disco, rock) along with some sounds that seem foreign and futuristic. I get that vibe when I hear "Game Of Love." The futuristic sounds of the synthesizer and the smooth elements from the guitar and percussion instruments create this beautiful experience that you want to recreate over and over again. This track is my favorite off the album. I bob my head to "Doin' It Right" which features Panda Bear. It has the right kind of tempo and flavor that encompasses old school hip hop elements with an alternative sound. Daft Punk has produced one of the most versatile albums I have ever heard. On one of Daft Punk's tracks, Giorgio Moroder, an Italian producer, provides an explanation for how he came about playing music and composing. He talks about the impact of the synthesizer on the album and music in general.

This album has easily become my favorite album of the year so far. There is something for everyone on this album and I hope this album will crossover into various age groups because its timeless nature. I doubt there will be a tour for this album, but I am still crossing my fingers for an opportunity to hear this album live. I encourage you to go buy this album now! Share it with your mom, your dad, everybody! This is real music and the people deserve to hear it.

Vampire Weekend: Diane Young

Vampire Weekend

Diane Young

You torched a Saab like a pile of leaves
I'd gone to find some better wheels
Four, five meters running round the bend
When the government agents surround you again

If Diane Young won't change your mind,
Baby, baby, baby, baby ride on time

Out of control but you're playing a role
Do you think you can go til the 18th hole
Or will you flip-flop the day of the championship?
Try to go it alone on your own for a bit

If Diane Young won't change your mind,
Baby, baby, baby, baby ride on time

Baby baby baby baby ride on
Baby baby baby baby ride on
Baby baby baby it's a light on
Baby baby baby it's a lifetime
Baby baby baby baby ride on
Time, time, time, time, time
Baby baby baby baby ride on time

If Diane Young won't change your mind,
Baby, baby, baby, baby ride on time

Irish and proud, baby, naturally
But you got the luck of a Kennedy
So grab the wheel, keep on holding it tight
'Til you're tunneling over into that good night

If Diane Young won't change your mind,
Baby, baby, baby, baby ride on time

Baby baby baby baby ride on
Baby baby baby baby ride on
Baby baby baby it's a light on
Baby baby baby it's a lifetime
Baby baby baby baby ride on
Time, time, time, time, time
Baby baby baby baby ride on time

Nobody knows what the future holds
Said it's bad enough just getting old
Live my life, they say it's too fast
You know I love the past, 'cause I hate suspense...

If Diane Young won't change your mind,
Baby, baby, baby, baby ride on time

#ThrowbackThursday: Stevie Nicks

2013-04-11T02:39:00.001-07:00

Some songs just seem to get better with age and understanding, and "Dreams" by Stevie Nicks is one of those songs. She originally wrote this song for the group, Fleetwood Mac, in the late 70's and it happened to be their biggest hit in the United States. This song has such a dance groove that was not as common in Stevie's other songs. I just can't help but vibe to it every time. The songwriting has to be one of my favorite works of Stevie Nicks' of all time, along with "Landslide." These videos are a more recent performances, but like I said, the songs just gets better with age. Enjoy!

Album Tuesday: Twenty One Pilots

2013-04-09T17:42:00.001-07:00

My new favorite alternative band is Twenty One Pilots. I first heard about them when I saw them perform at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas over spring break. A well-known name in the city of Columbus, Ohio, but not as well known to the likes of the music festival lovers in Austin. The band consists of lead singer and pianist, Tyler Joseph and drummer, Josh Dun. I was taken a back by their entrance because they were wearing masks, but as soon as I heard their first song on the set list, "Ode To Sleep," I was sold! I have literally never heard any band like them. It was original and no matter your preference of music, they touched on just about every genre. What I liked the most about them was their performance; Their ability to entertain was on a level that surpassed all of the performances on that stage that night (which included Travi$ Scott, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Tegan and Sara). It was electrifying and an experience that I never wanted to let go of. As dramatic as that sounds, that is exactly how I felt in that moment.

About a week ago, I bought their third album (which came out January 2013) entitled Vessel. The album fuses synthpop, rap rock and a lot of indie rock. It's as alternative as it can get! My favorite song off the album is "Car Radio" followed by "Guns For Hands" and "Holding On To You." Every song off this album just feels so good and I can never get off the leader singers quirky sound. The songs are lively and full of meaning. The song "Truce" is my favorite ballad off the album. They also have an EP called I encourage you to look up some of their live versions so that you can have a taste of their energy on the stage. What started as gigs performing at a bowling alley for five people turned into electrifying thousands! They truly deserve all that they are receiving and are continuing to rise to greater recognition especially under the good hands of Fueled By Ramen which brought us Paramore and Panic! At The Disco. They are currently on tour so check out their website for more info. Buy their album on iTunes! If you need a first listen before you purchase, I encourage you to venture to the NEW Myspace and give their album a listen! Enjoy!

#ThrowbackThursday: Chaka Khan/Marvin Gaye

2013-03-27T22:33:00.001-07:00

One of my favorite things to do is look up concert performances of artists. There's nothing like hearing a popular song being sung live. A while back, I came across a live performance of Chaka Khan doing a rendition of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." This is probably one of the greatest songs to ever exist in my opinion. This song is a perfect cap of the current week with The Supreme Court and the proposition 8 ruling. I love the Chaka Khan twist on this song and she is accompanied by The Funk Brothers, which are like Motown musical legends. The arrangement paid due homage to the late Marvin Gaye, but Chaka's vocal arrangement was brilliant and the scatting was a perfect touch. This was just a wonderful music affair and a great inspirational song for the week. Enjoy!

Music Video Munday: Justin Timberlake

2013-03-25T21:41:00.003-07:00

Justin Timberlake is back on the scene with a new album, The 20/20 Experience, and has followed up his return with another music video. He bring a greater concept to "Mirrors" through video that leaves you feeling refreshed with its originality in concept. It appears to be three different couples, or what I feel are the same people, just in different stages of their lives that seem to complement one another. Regardless of time, they never seem to stray from the idea that they are all one in the same. The seven years that Justin Timberlake has been absent from the music spotlight has done him well as an artist and obviously a man. He's more creative than ever and his songs are more significant and have amazing depth. I urge you to check out this video and his new album as well.

John Legend: New Single

2013-03-21T12:06:00.003-07:00

I have never done a blog on John Legend (which I find shocking), but he is my absolute, without a shadow of a doubt, favorite artist. His music is inspirational and his storytelling on his albums are authentic. It's been a long time since he has released a solo album (his third album was with The Roots-Wake Up!). He has also been doing some work for others including Kanye West and the movie Django Unchained. He is set to debut his fourth album entitled Love In The Future really soon. For the time being, he is releasing new music every few days, starting with his promo single, "The Beginning." This is our first view into John Legend's new sound since Evolver and it's safe to say that this is a better and more artistic John. The moment you hear the song, you should be able to hear the sampling and interpretation of "Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson that continues throughout with his own twist. His natural ability to emerge and stay current is what makes him so talented. For this album he will be working with Rick Ross, Kanye West, Hit Boy, and other artists. If this single is any indication of what's to come from his new album, it will be nothing short of perfection. Take a listen to his new single below and be on the look out for more on his official website or soundcloud.

#ThrowbackThursday: The Smiths

2013-03-21T03:11:00.002-07:00

This is my first throwback blog, and of course I have to start it with The Smiths. This is one of my favorite songs of all-time and . Johnny Marr and Morrissey are brilliant musicians and songwriters. The music alone is all I needed, but the lyrics could not have been more perfect. Happy Thursday!

Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me

Lyrics

Last night I dreamt

That somebody loved me
No hope, no harm
Just another false alarm

Last night I felt
Real arms around me
No hope, no harm
Just another false alarm

So, tell me how long
Before the last one?
And tell me how long
Before the right one?

The story is old - I know
But it goes on
The story is old - I know
But it goes on

Oh, goes on
And on
Oh, goes on
And on
