Pseudo/Sentai - New Full Length in July of 2013.

Prog News posted by Smurph — The Ghosts of Problems Past return to haunt the Sentai after an interdimensional jewel thief by the name of "The Vanishing Act" leaves P/SHQ in utter disarray. With many of their mission reports gone, the Loracle (their Zordon-esque lady-type computer... lady in a tube) is left with scattered memories that are now compensating for the freeing of space in her mainframe. All of these memories contained problematic specters with incomplete stories due to the Sentai's Hydra-like lack of focus. With time to fester and grow angry, the Ghosts are ready to end the Sentai's story altogether.

To keep the Loricle immortal, the memories of the spirits must be allowed to manifest into their original state, to recreate the memories that once trapped them in the Lorbryinth.

The first single (or rather, single and post single) off the album, House of Harbors, is available for download or streaming at bandcamp!

Mike Portnoy is leaving Adrenaline Mob

Prog News posted by PabstRibbon — From the band FaceBook page A Message From Mike Portnoy: It saddens me to announce that the 4 upcoming shows in Latin America this month supporting Halestorm will be my last with Adrenaline Mob.Unfortunately, I have scheduling conflicts that prevent me from being able to fully commit to the band's future activities at the moment. As I cannot be in two places at the same time, I don't want to hold them back and have to wait for my schedule to re-open up to resume activity.I'm very proud of what we started together and the music we made over the past two years and I wish the guys all the best in the future.

New Ozric Tentacles Box Set of First 6 Albums

Prog News posted by johnobvious — Just saw this on their website. This year Ozrics celebrate their 30th anniversary. To mark the date, Ozrics are finally granting the wishes of many fans, by re-mastering and re-releasing a series of classics from the catalogue, which have previously been out of print for nearly 20 years. Ozric Tentacles "Vitamin Enhanced" Box Set contains the entire first 6 albums recorded by the band. These first six albums were originally only available on cassette, handmade by the band, and only sold at festivals and concerts. In 1993 these tapes were transferred to CD, and 1994 released limited edition box set, only 5,000 copies of this package were ever made, making it a rare treat for collectors. As time passed, with so many other releases to focus on, these albums fell out of print and distribution. Now they have finally been given the attention they deserve, countless hours of audio and visual re-mastering have restored this wonderfully unique package to a modern day standard that is sure to please any fan. Ozrics kick off their 30th anniversary tour in August with a run of festival performances, where for the first time fans will meet the band's new drummer, Balázs Szende. "We've thrown some pretty tough tracks at him for the next tour", says Ed, seeming entertained by the thought of the challenge he had set, "So far we've been amazed. He really understands just what each part is trying to say, and when it's meant to say it. It makes things easy when that part comes naturally; it's something you just can't teach." Ozrics continue their Europe tour starting October 10th, back home in Bristol, UK. Last year saw a tumultuous upheaval for the group. Upon arriving home from an extensive 40 date tour through North America and Europe, which included debut performances in Russia, the group was immediately evacuated from their home and studio. It was located directly in the path of the most destructive forest fire in Colorado history. The band had only moments to grab their most important possessions, before they were escorted out by Police and National Guard. Fans watched the fire's progress as the band continued to their last concert, a festival near Philadelphia, they were unaware of what would happen, but fairly certain it wasn't looking good. That evening, as the band took the stage, the fire destroyed their home and studio as they played, taking with it all of the bands past archives and masters. Those who knew the circumstances described the performance as "a real life tribute to the phrase: The Show Must Go On".

Anekdoten recording a new album

Prog News posted by Jorvik — I'd hoped the "new website in development, please check back later" message that's been present on their site for the past few months would herald good news and it does indeed. [quote=Anekdoten]As can be seen in the first posting to this new blog we have finally started the recordings of our new album!... [/quote] News here: http://www.anekdoten.se/new-album-underway/ It'll be a good year if both Anekdoten and Camel release albums (plus seeing the latter live, can't wait!). Wow, can't believe A Time Of Day was way back in 2007. On the whole, I enjoyed the album. Musically it seemed to be veering towards more popular sounds and bits of it reminded me of The Doors. However, it was marred by having been made too loud. It'll be interesting to hear the new album and see whether it continues from AToD or marks a bit of a return to their earlier sound(s). I just hope they declare that "The [loudness] war is over" ETA: just spotted a post from four days ago: AToD has been remastered, hopefully this has undone the damage inflicted upon the original release. http://www.anekdoten.se/a-time-of-day-remastered-cd/ Plus cool pictures of them recording. I'd not noticed these two at first, it's weird how the front page only shows a single blog/news article. http://www.anekdoten.se/recording-in-atlantis-grammofon-2013/ Jorvik2013-05-30 14:38:19

Glass Hammer "The Inconsolable Secret" re-released

Prog News posted by cstack3 — Glass Hammer has announced a re-release of a special 3 CD set of "The Inconsolable Secret," available on their website: http://glasshammer.com/pages/features/Perilous.html The band discusses this in this brand new interview: http://somethingelsereviews.com/2013/05/29/something-else-interview-steve-babb-and-fred-schendel-of-glass-hammer/ This is a cool video about the project, they say: The Inconsolable Secret - Glass Hammer's 2005 double album featuring artwork by Roger Dean. This is the short video that was included on Disc One - The Knights. It features short clips of actual takes that were used in the final mix. The Inconsolable Secret is set for re-release in early summer of 2013 as a three disc deluxe edition. The two original discs are included as well as a new disc of remixes featuring Jon Davison, Kamran Alan Shikoh, David Wallimann and others.

IOEarth announce new vocalist: Linda Odinsen

Prog News posted by yam yam — Not really news, since this lady was announced as the band's singer at the beginning of the month: http://www.progrockmag.com/news/ioearth-confirm-new-singer/, but although a few members have mentioned this in posts within other threads recently, I didn't find a dedicated thread for this announcement anywhere on the site, and I feel that it most definitely warrants one. From the progrockmag.com website (link above):IOEarth have confirmed Linda Odinsen as their new singer, after they parted ways with Claire Malin.Odinsen, 25, stepped in at the last moment after Malin's health issues threatened the band's appearance on Yes' Cruise To The Edge event. They say in a statement: "Linda jumped into the breach and saved the day when IOEarth thought their Cruise To The Edge concert would have to be cancelled. She performed on the biggest stage in progressive rock with only a 4 hour rehearsal."Her dedication, devotion and guts at such at young age is amazing - to step up to this huge commitment at short notice deserves huge respect. IOEarth are so proud to announce she will be the band's new vocalist from now."Odinsen says: "I'm proud to be joining such a talented and professional band. Not only are they great musicians, they are wonderful people too. The support from the band and fans all around the world has been unreal."Co-founder Dave Cureton comments: "Linda is truly a great find. Her voice and presence fit IOEarth perfectly - she adds a whole new dynamic to the band."She flew from Norway to Birmingham, had a four-hour rehearsal, then flew to the USA, performing at the biggest gig of the band's career. It's just unbelievable. Thank God our co-manager Wendy Vissers-Hagenbeek made me call her."The past few weeks have been very stressful for us and the uncertainty as been unbearable, but we know we have made the right decision in bringing Linda into the band."Odinsen will make her first official appearance at the Celebr8.2 festival on May 11-12. Cureton says: "We can't wait to get on stage. I'd like to thank all our wonderful fans for sticking with us through this difficult time. Rest assured IOEarth are firing on all cylinders."Here she is performing with them at Cultuurpodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer (The Netherlands) on April 13, 2013 - a three-band festival with IO Earth, Panic Room & Heather Findlay Band. [TUBE]p4C_NLMq8d4[/TUBE] Full concert at 'Cruise To The Edge' March 27th, 2013: [TUBE]0OCEAvRlm50[/TUBE] http://www.ioearth.com/http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5063 yam yam2013-05-29 11:45:00
