A Statement To The Press By Jon Anderson

Prog News posted by glassonyonpr — For immediate Release A Statement To The Press By Original YES Vocalist / Songwriter Jon Anderson 2/8/2012 - Asheville, NC - In response to recent rumors circulating about music legend and original YES vocalist / songwriter Jon Anderson being asked to re-join YES - these rumors are unfounded and false. Jon Anderson is busy with his solo career; he is currently on tour performing solo (tour dates and venues listed below), as well as recording new music. Jon also had this response to recent quotes in the news by Chris Squire that he is in regular communication with Jon: "I haven't spoken with Chris in four years, and the only e-mail I have received from him in the last 3 years was him asking for free tickets to my show in Mesa, AZ last week - very sad, but true." Jon Anderson, who has one of the most recognizable voices in music, and is best known for his work with YES, Vangelis and Kitaro, as well as his innovative solo efforts, recently completed a successful tour of the east coast in the US with fellow YES member Rick Wakeman and a solo tour of South America. Jon's solo tour promises to deliver an exciting mixture of material from his prolific solo career, collaborations with Vangelis and classic YES songs, along with new compositions from his new CD 'Survival & Other Stories'. A return to the long-form composition that Jon Anderson is best known for, ("Close To The Edge", "Gates of Delirium", "Revealing" and "Awaken"), OPEN is a 21-minute exhilarating musical journey; a pioneering effort that weaves intricate melodic and harmonic themes within a classical music framework whilst showcasing Anderson's iconic vocals and timeless melodies throughout. In many ways OPEN is a return to Jon Anderson's musical roots, as YES music continually flows through his veins, making it only natural to revisit now and again. Coupled with wonderful orchestration by his neighbor and good friend Stefan Podell, messages of peace, love, light and freedom are further explored within OPEN, making listening an uplifting and joyous experience! " 'Forever taken to that place of understanding,' are the first lyrics of 'OPEN', as though I am always remembering my true musical journey. To create this work, I sat with my 19th Century guitar and strummed ideas last spring 2010. Songs just poured out of me that week, and before I knew it I had created a long form musical idea, and with the help of Stefan Podell's powerful orchestration, we put together what is now 'OPEN.' It has 4 movements all intertwined, and seems to have a life of its own. For those who love this kind of music, I feel so happy to present it as one of many I hope to create over the coming years. My love 'Janee' has helped in production with her unique musical observations and her angel voice. I am so happy and thankful... Many Blessings." Jon Anderson - October 2011 Jon Anderson's OPEN is available as a digital download and can be obtained at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/open-single/id474552662?ls=1 In other news, Jon Anderson and fellow former YES member Rick Wakeman have released 'Anderson / Wakeman - The Living Tree In Concert Part One' CD on Gonzo MultiMedia. The legendary duo performed a series of successful concerts in the UK in 2010 in support of their critically acclaimed CD release 'The Living Tree', and recorded several of the performances.

Benoit David has left Yes...says Squire

Prog News posted by Harold-The-Barrel — UPDATE; I'm not sure how reliable this blogspot is but its just says what we already knew was going to happen, that despite yesterdays rebuttal by Jon Davison that his joining the band was only temporary, Chris Squire has seemingly put that idea to bed...Benoit David has left the building! http://www.noise11.com/news/exclusive-yes-recruit-another-new-singer-20120208"Yes have a new lead singer. Benoit David is out. Jon Davison is in.Chris Squire with Yes"Jon Davison is coming in because of Benoit's departure. I always hope that when there is a member change in the band that it will be a permanent thing. Only time will tell really", founding member Chris Squire told Noise11.com this morning. "I don't know if I'm meant to be telling you this yet, so I guess you've got a scoop,"Like Benoit David, Jon Davison was discovered fronting a Yes covers band. Benoit had joined Yes after the departure of original singer Jon Anderson. He has been suffering from respiratory failure this year and could not continue on for the Australia tour in April. However, his departure is permanent."Yes, he has officially left Yes," Chris says.Benoit David joined Yes in 2008. He sings lead on the latest yes album 'Fly From Here'."People have left to go off to do various projects and solo projects over the years," Chris says. "Some like Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman have left and come back. In Rick's case, four times. It's always been a fairly flexible in and out door for some members of the band. At the last count, including Jon Davison, he is the 18th member of the band. It has never been personal problems. It's just things that happen at certain times".Chris says he is still friends with Jon Anderson and in regular communication. "We email each other. We have a cordial relationship," he says. "He is out there at the moment doing some solo shows. He is a lot healthier now than he was a few years ago when he was suffering from his breathing problems. He is getting back into it. I have never closed the door on working with Jon again. He has left the band before and come back and left it again and come back. It is an unusual situation. We will work together in the future but right now we are promoting the Fly From Here album which is our first studio album in 10 years".The Australian setlist will feature the new album plus Yes classics. "We will be doing the new material from the Fly From Here album. It will pretty much the same as the Europe setlist around Christmas time,' Chris says."There are songs from a couple of different eras. The 70s of course, 'Roundabout', 'I've Seen All Good People' are very popular songs as was 'Starship Trooper' from 'The Yes Album'. From 'Fragile' there is 'Heart of the Sunrise' and sometimes we do 'Long Distance Runaround'. Then there is the '90125' must which we don't do that much as we'd probably like to because that was a different guitar player in there, Trevor Rabin. Steve Howe is back in the band. We do a little bit of music from that era, the mid 80s " This is getting beyond a joke now Yes (official) YES Recruit New Singer Prog rock band YES were forced to cancel the last 3 shows of their European Tour in December due to the illness of lead vocalist Benoit David who has still not recovered. To avoid disappointing their fans on the forthcoming Australasian leg of their world tour, they have found a replacement singer. Jon Davison will join YES as lead vocalist for the upcoming dates in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and Hawaii. YES really appreciate Jon Davison joining them for this leg of the tour and are sure this arrangement will satisfy all YES fans. http://www.facebook.com/#!/yestheband Harold-The-Barrel2012-02-08 07:12:31

Geo Andrade (Anabasis) releases rock opera "Airs"

Prog News posted by rustedsynapse — Greetings, Prog Archives friends and colleagues! You were all so very kind and welcoming of me and Barry Thompson's debut project of The ANABASIS "Back From Being Gone" ... might I humbly submit with hat in hand my latest writing endeavor? This is a rock opera that I wrote with the extremely talented Steve Brockmann (German recording artist and producer) based upon a subplot from a novel that I had planned to write in the dim and distant past (well, these things take awhile ) ... it's called "Airs - A Rock Opera", and we're quite proud of it and would really love for you all to check it out. Now, I've already passed this along in private to Andy Webb and Uwe Zickel for their advance reviews and thoughts and I believe that the album has since been turned over to the "Crossover Prog" team for consideration. We have two teaser trailers available (just follow the bouncing hyperlinks below) and we will be releasing more in the coming month as well as a full single, "Annabelle". Amongst others, he has played support gigs for such rock legends as Uriah Heep, Moody Marsden Band, and Hawkwind. Steve currently concentrates his musical work on various projects in his personal studio. Steve's releases include "Don't Sing" (2001), "Broskro Skrobro" (2002), "Expected Errors" (2007) and the upcoming "Pools Under Ganymede". George Andrade, story, lyrics and narratives, is the lyricist and Executive Producer for the progressive metal band The ANABASIS (10T Records). He has written adult and children's fiction, provides critical readings of screenplays, reviews novels for HorrorNews.net and is a freelance editor. He is listed in the Locus Magazine author index and has been an artist-in-residence for Very Special Arts Rhode Island. He also wrote, produced and directed the short film "Supports' which won RI Cable Award for "Best Entertainment/Variety". "A theatrical feast for the heart and mind, "Airs - A Rock Opera" tells her story with simplicity and elegance: on a small circular island in the Atlantic, Owen Doane has rolled through a stop sign and driven a car carrying two tourists - a mother and her 9 year old daughter - from the road to strike a stone wall. The accident caused the girl to suffer injuries that paralyzed her from the waist down, confining her life to a chair and thereby forcing Owen's father, Derrick Doane, to suffer the collapse of his company that had been built upon the Doane family heritage of pulling stone from fields before harvest and building walls after milling grain since they had first settled Manisses Island in 1664. He returns home from prison to mend the walls and fences that he has destroyed and soon learns to speak of wind and air - not stone and mortar - and through the help of those he's injured understands that our hearts are on strings. A powerful, vintage '70s/'80s rock score by Steve Brockmann conveys all of the loss, disillusionment, rekindled hope, reconciliation and ultimate redemption that is Owen's journey and is rich with soaring cinematic passages!" "Being such a fan of 70s art-rock, particularly Kansas, Styx and Genesis, I was honored and thrilled when George and Steve asked me to participate in the AIRS rock opera," says Paul Adrian Villarreal. "It was a pure pleasure to work on such a wonderful project and alongside so many other great talents. I can't wait to hear it in its final form, and for the rest of the world to hear it! Thanks, guys and let's do it again sometime!" "What can I say - it's an amazing piece of art and contains one of my favorite songs that I've heard in quite some time," says Gordon Tittsworth. ""Kites" always takes me to a better place no matter how many times I hear it." "... The songs ("Annabelle" and "Flight II") are both really great. I still have "Annabelle" circulating in my head. Every once in a while I'll find myself humming that one," says Dave Meros. "I don't know if you've heard the term, but when something enters your ears and stays there for a long period of time and you can't stop thinking about it whether you like it or not, it's called an "ear worm". Annabelle is one of my current ear worms." "The album's 18 tracks explore a host of themes and elements, twisting and turning moods with the whim of the emotive lyrics, awakening the script from just words on a page to the heightened sense of emotion of which they deserve," says Andy Webb of Prog Archives. "The continuity of melodies, the truly "human" concept, the mature and accessible compositions, and the fantastic production quality make this album shine, showing the great creative prowess of the minds of George Andrade and Steve Brockmann." "Airs - A Rock Opera" by Brockmann/Andrade is available for immediate pre-order through the official "AIRS" website or at Fencesound Music. All orders received by February 19 will be entered into a random drawing for a chance to receive one of fifteen 8.5x11 signed glossy prints of the AIRS logo and kite detail from the album cover design of Matt Willett and will be shipped in time to be received as close to the release date as possible.
