Ramases : Cult Rock Band of Seventies

If there ever had to be a list of the most eclectic musicians/rock groups, then Ramases would be a definite contender. Very little is known about this enigmatic person, and very little in terms of music was ever produced. However, his two albums, especially the first one, have built up a form of cult following within progressive rock circles.

Born in the late thirties, in Sheffield, England, Martin Raphael worked as a PT instructor in the army after serving a conscription period and after that started a lucrative business as a central heating salesman in Scotland. One day, whilst in his car he claimed to have had a vision from the Egyptian Pharaoh god Ramases, who informed him that he was actually the re-incarnation of this deity and that his duty on earth was to inform the world the truth about the universe.

He has created two cult albums making them as the superb example of space/folk/rock music. Space Hymns and Glass Top Coffin.

They will be blown away at the first sight and never talk about a single word about that hip hop crap anymore lifetime. Both the audio and video quality are top notch, and Roy's voice really shines. Kamelot prove that they are the masters of their trade and this concert might very well go down as one of the defining moments of their history

Not As Good As The Book / The Tangent

Impressive ! The masterpiece is divided in 2 Cd's.

The complexities of the composition are similar to Yes albums. I think The Tangent is a true progressive band that has shaped the progressive rock music combining the sounds of 70s and modern music. Based strongly on the best practises of symphonic rock this music flows from a mood to another smoothly and creates long enjoyable passages of great instrumental and sung music. There are elements of folk, etnic and jazz blended in a way never before in an eclectic way.

01011001 flows perfectly. I feel like I'm listening to a true concept album this time.
Also, the vocalists are amazing. As much as James Labrie is a great talent, the mix of artists on this album blows the Human Equation away. Any fans of Evergrey, Pain of Salvation, etc. should check it out one of the best released progressive metal albums of 2008

Trisector / Van Der Graaf Generator

Good composition, thoughtful lyrics and short tunes make Trisector work. Hammill, Banton and Evans created a decent effort.

The Bedlam in Goliath / Mars Volta

It's not possible to divide this album into sections.. the tracks seem to flow into one another. Most of the album is composed of heavy hard-hitters like the opening track "Aberinkula" and "Goliath", but there are also deviations on this formula that make the album all the more interesting.

The song "Tourniquet Man" will take listeners by surprise after listening to louder tracks 1-5, and the track "Soothsayer" represents the album cover art the best in that it adds a Middle Eastern flavor to The Mars Volta's already unique style of music.

Spiroygra had released in 1973 one of the cult albums all times. Widely regarded today as one of the great classics of British 'acid folk', copies of this album are rare and expensive today, almost impossible to acquire.

ELOY - Proud of German Prog Rock Scene

If we call Eloy as "Pink Floyd" of German Symphonic and Space Rock genre, it is not because they copied from them but they made such original compositions that delivered them to legend level.

Especially Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes and Ocean was a great success musically. Eloy makes a wonderful stream of music. Believe me or better watch the following videos :)
