I have been playing with Squidoo lately and have created a number of lenses.

I have earnt 9C over the past few weeks, wow.

I am wondering if this will pick up?

Anyway here are my lenses:

My biggest problem with most of these lenses is the fact that they are UK focused. much of Squidoo is US focused.

Woolworths were offering a 'too good to be true' offer on LCD TVs
Blast a pricing blunder though.
Orders for the TVs exploded - some reports have it at around 1000
It seems that a mixture of computer error and human inputting may have led to a zero being left off the end of the TVs' retail price.

This sort of thing has happened previously with mixed results - some retailers have let offers through, others have not.

Callers using internet phone system Skype who might be tempted to tell a few porkies should beware - the user on the other end may have a lie detector.
Skype is to offer the KishKish Lie Detector, which is made by BATM, as an add-on for customers.

It analyses audio streams over a Skype call in real time and illustrates the stress levels of the other person.

Skype's software lets computer users talk to each other for free and make cheap calls to mobiles and landlines.

'Greatly enhance'

Paul Amery, director of Skype developer programme said: "This is a really excellent application, and the kind of thing we want to see more of.

"Lie Detector is the latest in a variety of product in our premium add-on programme which greatly enhance the Skype communication experience."

No price has yet been set on the application, or a roll-out date.

The lie detector is the latest products which Kishkish has designed for Skype users, with others including voice mail and call recorder.

BATM says it hopes to be able to provide Skype users with further additions in the near future.

As well as operating in real time the KishKish device can also record calls for analysis later.

Internet auction firm eBay bought Skype - which says it has 136 million users - in September 2005 for $2.6bn.

The Nintendo wii has been a bit of a sucess story amongst some affiliates this year.

Amazon.co.uk famously sold out of their entire pre order stock in 7 minutes, creating a good many sales for affilites. Now with the official nintendo wii release date tomorrow gamers who haven't ordered a console yet will probably be dissapointed.

Profiteering on the wii has begun alreads with many selling their safely preordered wii on ebay.co.uk and ebay.com Many going for excess of £350. Where the original console price was nearer half this price mark.

Amazon Astore Site Intergration - Use Your Own Domain Name

I have been toying with aSensibleStore.com in order to add extras to an amazon astore.
There service is ok and you may want to check it out.
What I wanted though is an astore that had my domain name, without doing any framing or 301 redirects.
What I came up with is this -
http://www.flavour-shaker.co.uk/ which is based on the new Jamie Oliver device of the same name. It is essentially an astore included in my domain. This is useful for two reasons.
I can further control Layout and extras (extra links - adwords rss feeds etc) and urls are resolved to my domain - http://www.flavour-shaker.co.uk/jamie/flavour-shaker-21/detail/B000INFF9A/
I can track traffic using google analytics or server logs
WHen a product is added to the shopping cast though the site jumps to the astore.
The script is very simple but powerful.

YouTube vs Traditional TV

The battle was on today TV vs Internet video sites - below is from BBC News

Video sharing site YouTube has taken online viewing to the masses
The online video boom is starting to eat into TV viewing time, an ICM survey of 2,070 people for the BBC suggests.
Some 43% of Britons who watch video from the internet or on a mobile device at least once a week said they watched less normal TV as a result.

And online and mobile viewing is rising - three quarters of users said they now watched more than they did a year ago.

But online video viewers are still in the minority, with just 9% of the population saying they do it regularly.

Interesting to see how this trend goes, will there be a TV vs Internet battle - or will the services merge in the age of Digital TV.

Personally I would like to see a merge and maybe have youtube as a channel on UK satalite TV.

There was fear/delight that it would be legal for spirits, beer, wine and tabacco products could be imported via mail order to the UK where the duty paid to the government on said items is very high.

But today the EU saw fit to stop this.

Shoppers wishing to get the benefit of buying cheaper goods abroad have to accompany the goods back themselves.

It had been feared a ruling going the other way would have hit thousands of UK retailers, could have spelled the end for the "booze cruise" and forced the UK goverment to recoup lost tax in other ways.

Good thing or bad thing - not quite sure.
