Finding crib bedding that is simple and sophisticated is really difficult (let alone finding a crib set with one color that isn’t boring!). We would like to introduce you to a company that is new to the nursery bedding scene but is making a big splash: Angel Baby. Although some of their designs incorporate multiple colors, they all possess a certain simplicity that Melisa and I are really drawn too. As Little Apple Design, we are often faced with a bit of a design challenge when patterns and various colors take over a nursery. Adding patterned crib bedding on top of it can result in design overload for the room. Elegant and simple will keep the balance right. Angel Baby has a catalogue of beautiful, high quality crib sets made from the finest Egyptian cotton exceeding 1000 thread count. Baby will sleep in the lap of luxury with these silky smooth crib sets. Crafted in Europe, Angel Baby bedding aims to create a superior look and touch beyond comparison.

With clean lines and soft classic colors, these crib sets can easily coordinate with nursery art and décor choices to create an elegant designer nursery. The bedding arrives in a gorgeous gift box. Find a local retailer here.

Vintage…modern…marvelous…

So, I came across this new bedding at Target: The Dwell Studio for Target Studio Fun Dot. It’s available for the nursery and comes in toddler bedding too! With such vibrant colors, it would be super easy to find pieces to incorporate into this posh primary palette. You can snag the entire crib set for about $70 right now!

The art pictured would add a little touch of vintage, which I found at the Land of Nod, along with the modern drum pendant light. The monogram is a vinyl decal found on a random search on Etsy. This entire look could be complete with paint for the walls and a few additional accessories on a super small budget! Love the look? E-mail me with any questions at rebecca@projectnursery.com or better yet, just “Ask Rebecca” on the Project Nursery Forums.

Mom Carly injected a little personality into her baby girl’s room with some big design ideas! This is no cookie-cutter girl’s nursery. Note the big wall graphic modeled after the DwellStudio crib bedding. Or how about that molding which makes the tall ceilings a little more cozy? And finally, the angled crib: Have you ever considered angling your crib? Just some fun design for thought and a beautiful, soft, original nursery to inspire…

Child’s name: Avery
Age: 3 months
Location: Novi, Michigan

What was your inspiration for the room?
When I thought about what my future daughter might be like, I envisioned a playful, laid back, unique girl and I wanted the room to reflect that personality. I also wanted it to have personal touches and not seem “generic” or too “matchy-matchy.” It started with the Dwell Charlotte bedding and just grew over time as I added new pieces to the design.

What best describes your decorating style?
Casual and comfortable. I usually lean towards more neutral colors, and had originally planned on a chocolate brown and ivory nursery, but I decided to branch out and have fun with this project! I like a room to reflect personality and not feel like a museum.

Some nights the kitchen is my enemy. It’s not the actual preparation of a nutritious and delicious meal that gets me down. It’s the thought of sweeping and plucking up bits of food from the kitchen floor for the third time in one day that sends me over the edge. We are eating out tonight, I declare! But wait, is eating out with two toddlers really a night off? This will require “inside voices”, bottoms to stay on designated chairs and massive amounts of patience from the wee ones. Looks like I’ll be eating my meal in three bites and 30 seconds flat and call it a night. Busy mom of three, Grace Paik was so fed up with these types of eating out experiences she created The ChalkMat. Part placemat, part chalkboard, The ChalkMat is the perfect way to engage and distract your kids while eating in or out..

As part of Grace’s company Sam and Bellie, she created this affordable and eco-conscious line of eating products she named Jaq Jaq Bird which means “chirp chirp bird” in Korean and happens to be the nick name of her 3rd child. These products are completely PVC, BPA and phthalate free. The line, which can be easily folded and carried on-the-go, also includes bibs (with a smart pocket), aprons, and activity splat mats. You can use chalk or crayons on The ChalkMat. By George, it might just save me some sanity and let me finish a meal. Yes!

It’s time to start thinking about planning your winter parties! I am planning my best friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday party in a red and aqua Snowflake theme! There are so many ideas and inspiration out there for this theme, and I thought I would share a few of the ideas I’ve collected so far! Here is the invitation that I just designed! Adding a little embellishment like this rhinestone is easy and adds a sparkling custom touch!

Santa will be visiting the party, which is always so much fun for the kids! We’re working on a craft activity for the kids, if you have any ideas, please share them by commenting!

I’m all about getting the biggest bang for your buck so I totally understood when mom Joanna shared her vision to create a nursery with a some longevity past the baby stage. A modern yet fun space for her baby girl, Marin, just born this past October that could last through her toddler years. She picked out a sophisticated color palette of raspberry and lime and set off to find all the pieces to fill the dream nursery for her daughter. We knew it would turn out stylish since Joanna has an Etsy shop filled with beautiful pillows for the home.

What was your inspiration for the room?
I wanted my room to be able to grow with the baby. So I didn’t want to get stuck into a themed room that was to babyish. I wanted it to be Modern and fun and able to fit with her as a toddler. I knew I wanted to do a Raspberry pink and Lime Green color way, so I started with fabrics and found the bumper fabric which I fell in love with and based the rest of my color choices off of.

What best describes your decorating style?
I love to mix clean lines with traditional elements. I also love vibrant colors that are set off with crisp whites which give the room a clean feeling and help the colors to pop.

Please share with us your choice of paint colors, furniture, art, diy tips, etc.
Our first step to our room was prepping our walls to be able to accommodate the decals and wood grain below the wainscoting. I put my husband to work and he floated (removed the texture) from the walls with the huge tree decal and also on all four walls below the chair rail. Once the walls were dried and smooth, I painted below the chair rail with a pearl white. Next, I mixed a glaze, which is a mixture of glaze, paint and water. The glaze is painted over the base coat and removed with a wood grain tool to create the effect of wood grain. (You can make a glaze from any color you choose).

The tree decal, bird cage and birdie decal I found online. I wanted to add an element of dimension to the tree so I added the 3-D flowers which I also found online at Umbra. The tree comes in 3 huge pieces; I cut the section out where my chair rail was and applied it to my chair rail separately instead of wrapping the tree on it, and this helped it stick to the chair rail better. The bird cages were applied to a smooth board I had cut to size at the hardware store. I painted the board pink then applied the cages and birds. My husband made a frame from extra chair rail we had from around the closet. I already had the book shelf which I had purchased at IKEA, and I wanted to make it work in the room. So I decided to get a two toned crib which brought the dark brown from my shelving and the white from the dresser. The crib is a 3 in 1 crib so it will accommodate her as a toddler. The dresser, closet system, mirror and lamp shade are all also from IKEA. We had a regular closet in the room but it didn’t make sense for organization. I had my husband rip the doors off and get rid of the header so we could use the maximum space that was available in the closet. I consulted my IKEA catalogue after many measurements and chose the correct fittings for what I wanted to store. The nice thing about the IKEA systems is that they are interchangeable and can be moved around or new elements can be added as she gets older.

The rocking chair was a lucky find. I found the upholstered rocker at babies’ r us for $140.00 because the fabric was trashed on it. So I snatched it up, bought some fabric and had it re-upholstered and then I had exactly what I wanted! I made the monogram pillow with extra fabric I had from the bedding. I have a small business making pillows called Dio Dio Domestic Couture. I’ve had plenty of experience making pillows but never made bedding before. So I got gutsy and decided to make my own bedding since I couldn’t find what I was looking for anywhere. I bought a bumper and bed skirt to use as a pattern and returned it to the store after I got the measurements
from them.

My sister had an old mobile from her daughter’s room that she had given me. It didn’t match my room so I made the little apples and pears from a Heather Bailey pattern. www.heatherbailey.com. The pattern is for pin cushions so I just needed to reduce the pattern on the copy machine to get the size I needed.

What is your favorite item(s) in the room?
I have to say my favorite item in the room is the onesie I framed. I found out I was pregnant on my husbands birthday so I ran out and bought a onesie and made it to say “baby gick” he opened it and saw our last name with baby and that is how I told him I was pregnant. After I found out we were having a girl I added the flowers and framed it with a frame from IKEA which I spray painted white.

Is there anything else you would like PN readers to know?
Possibilities are endless when you let your creativity flow. You need to look at the potential in something, anything can be spray painted or altered to make it just what you want. If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t be afraid to try and make it yourself, you may be very surprised and proud of yourself!

Dylan’s parents shows us that their little boy’s nursery theme can grow with him through his toddler years and beyond! The love of the open sea lasts with a simple, clean nautical theme from the start!

Child’s name: Dylan
Age: 2
Location: Raleigh, NC

What was your inspiration for the room?
I love nautical decorations, so I chose to go that route when decorating Dylan’s nursery. When it came time to upgrade his room and get rid of his crib, I decided to keep the theme. I found the life preserver that hangs above his bed and fell in love with it. It was my inspiration for designing the rest of the room.

What best describes your decorating style?
I like clean, neat styles. I’m usually drawn to traditional rooms and decorations, with a few modern touches thrown in.

Please share with us your choice of paint colors, furniture, art, diy tips, etc.
The bed, dresser, and mirror were all found for great prices at Ikea. The paint is by Behr. The toy bins and the life preserver that hangs above the bed were found at HomeGoods. The personalized growth chart was ordered through a local kid’s boutique. Comforter and bedding were found on clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond. And the small pillow and the blanket at the foot of the bed were part of a set sold at Babies ‘R Us and made by Nautica.

What is your favorite item(s) in the room?
The bookcase is my favorite item. I saw something similar on Project Nursery and fell in love with it. I told my husband exactly what I wanted and the measurements, and he built it from scratch. It’s the perfect bookcase for my son to grow with and holds a ton of books.

Is there anything else you would like PN readers to know?
I’m always drawn to kid’s rooms that aren’t too busy or overly baby-ish. I love that my son won’t grow out of the design in his room and can be happy with it for many years.

Designer Lisa Masterson started Avalisa with the intent to have people enjoy life through their surroundings. You may be familiar with Lisa’s rug designs for Avalisa because they are some of the most attractive rugs for kids room on the market. Now Lisa has declared a new mission, to help others experience life more fully through color and design. It is true that vibrant color makes you happy. Maybe that’s why its hard not to “ooh” and “aah” at a real life rainbow.

Avalisa recently added Animal Faces to their collection of stretched wall art. These beautiful and bold faces hung on their own or coupled with two geometric canvases result in a stunning effect. Perfect for the modern and chic nursery. My favorites are the Punk Lion and the Queen Cat face. Don’t miss taking a look at the entire stretched canvas collection and Avalisa’s fine prints as well.
