I was reflecting back to where I got my starts online. It came down to Associated Content and Brijit. I went back and forth on which I like better, but now the answer is clear! AC just never paid enough. Brijit was different. Writing for them was a great way to exercise my mind and do some REAL writing that made a difference for people. Sure, they only paid $5 per 200 word abstract, but that mental flexing really did do me good.

I also found Brijit at a time where I didn’t know if I’d be able to stay home with my little guy or not (you can read some earlier posts for this journey Knowing that I COULD make money with this site was inspiring.

So, Jeremy (founder of Brijit) are you still out there?

We want to bring it back! There has to be some way to get writers to produce high quality work, without having to use a huge amount of investor leverage. I know I’d write abstracts for a byline (instead of money) linking to one of my websites…many, many others would do the same.

Flip the switch back on and I’m there! Otherwise, I just don’t have time to read the news

It’s now been about a year since I started this blog, and I feel like I’ve come a long way! I’ve read through some of my earlier posts where I got started writing with Associated Content and Brijit (which, sadly is no more) and struggling to find a way to earn money. Then..BAM! As soon as I started offering my writing services everything took off.

Now I feel like I’m at another crossroads- the one where I move from building other people’s online businesses to building more of my own. Yes, I’ve been affiliate marketing and creating my own products for a while now, but I’m now about 1/2 and 1/2. I’ll work on ghostwriting projects, then my own.

This has worked well for me, but there is always that uncertainty. For instance, how do I know that I’ll actually make money from my efforts? The truth is that you don’t know. The other truth is that when you DO make money it will be more than worth it. Something I put the same amount of effort into that has my own name on in tends to make me a lot more money in the long run.

It can be scary, however. Ghostwriting offers such an immediate and easy income that it’s hard to make that leap fully. Truthfully, I don’t know that I would ever want to totally quit my ghostwriting. It’s a great way to connect with clients from all over the world, and get the chance to research topics I never would have dreamed of researching.

For now, I plan on continuing to build my own affiliate marketing and product creation business while earning that solid ghostwriting income. That seems to be the best choice for me, how about you?

If you have a Macintosh computer, then you’re definitely going to want to listen to this!

I think a big part of the hang up people get about writing articles is organizing the research. It can seem very daunting to have to take notes or copy and paste and try to figure out the order of your article etc.

The best way that I know to organize writing for articles and eBooks is with the software Scrivener. (not an aff. link) It’s a really fantastic way to organize your thoughts, and to see your notes while you’re writing (because you can split the screen…one half notes and one half word processor.)

It’s for Mac…there is something similar for PC I haven’t tried here at PageFour

Here is my process for writing articles:

1. I get a feel for what my niche wants/needs to know by doing the market research. This is a one time thing, other than keeping up with news and developments.

I might refer to: Amazon books, other websites, Google Alerts, Google News, Blogs, Magazines, etc.

My favorite thing to do is look on niche forums and see what questions people have. Look for either really hot topics or even ones that no one seems to have the answer to.

2. I take notes and come up with article themes, then I do my keyword research to fit those themes. I have used Nichebot, but am starting to go to the Google tool more and more.

3. I’ll make a notes section in Scrivener for each keyword/article I’m going to write. As I go through and do my research for content I will copy and past relevant information into the appropriate article tab. That way I don’t have to go back and forth and waste time. If I find something that’s relevant I have it automatically organized and ready for me to write.

4. When I’m done the research I’ll just open up each tab with its organized notes, write my article on the other side of the Scrivener split screen, and I’m done! I just go down through the tabs and write my little heart out.

I’ve found this to be an organized, efficient way to write articles that doesn’t have you running around like a chicken trying to find info, organize it in your head, and then type.

I also included a big write-up about this in my favorite membership site, Earn 1K a Day

Hello there loyal blog readers. I’ve made the decision to totally separate this blog and my other blog as some of the themes started to overlap. This blog will be dedicated only to writing topics, and marketing information and tips can be found at Work at Home for Moms.

I think this will work out best because some of you are not interested in writing and some of you are only interested in writing. Those of you who straddle both Internet marketing and writing can just read both blogs

Thanks so much for your support. Wow! I can’t believe that it’s been almost a year since I started my online journey. It’s funny to go back and read my posts from last fall. I’ve come a long way if I do say so myself!

Even though I’ve started stepping more into the marketing end of things I’m a writer at heart. It’s actually been a dream of mine since I was a little girl to be a published author. Nothing would please me more than to see my name in a glossy magazine these days.

While I really enjoy being an online ghostwriter, actually having my name attached to the things I write would be a dream come true. I recently picked up Jenna Glatzer’s “How to Make a Real Living as a Freelance Writer” to help me succeed with this dream.

I was actually going to make this a “fair and balanced” review of the book, and I still am, but I truthfully can’t find a single thing wrong with the book. I adore Jenna’s writing style and she leaves nothing out.

It’s sad to say, but I didn’t really understand what a “query” was until I read this book. Not to mention FOBs BOBs and Mastheads. For those of you who are freelancers for magazines that kind of langauge comes naturally to you. For me it was like a foreign language.

After reading the book I now feel like I can take a stab at querying magazines, dealing with rejection, rejoicing when I get accepted, and finally getting my name in print. I wouldn’t even really do it for the money (though getting $900 for an article instead of $15 sounds pretty darned good to me). It would be my ultimate professional dream to become a go-to freelancer for some of the major magazines.

I plan on dipping my toes in a little at a time, perhaps starting with some of the smaller mags. Soon enough, I’ll see my name in print!

I definitely recommend Jenna Glatzer’s book if you also have a dream of writing for publications. Writing for Internet marketers is great, but there are a lot of opportunities out there for even better writing opportunities.

Check it out here :

Ding, ding, ding. Has anyone ever seen me actually use keywords in my posts? No…do I feel stupid? Yes!

I’ve never really done much to market this blog. It’s growing at a slow but steady pace (actually, most people find it by searching for my name, I still don’t understand what is interesting at all about me to search for, lol). If I think back over the months, I’ve wasted time! My list would be bigger, I’d be making more income from the blog if only…I’d analyzed which keywords to use in my posts.

Geez, I preach this to the heavens, but have never given it any thought for ProjectWAHM. I’m going to add it to my list of things to do Then, I’ll rank higher in the search engines and get more awesome readers like you.

As for me…I’m putting myself through a personal challenge through the end of the month. I really think I’ve found my “holy grail”, but focus is still an issue. I’m not going to announce my holy grail, or exactly what my challenge is until August 9th. That is a special day for me, and I’m determined to have reached a few goals by then.

This has been an incredible year, but I want to make it a lot more incredible.

I’ll post about my progress without giving too much away, I want you guys to be totally stoked and on the edge of your seats to find out what I’m doing

I missed out on Membernaire the first time around…I don’t know why? I believe I was trying to be “good” and not spend money. Well, that was actually (for once) silly of me. Instead of digging into the Membernaire method and getting a planned membership site up right away, I fought with finding time to get a traditional model put up. At this point, I could have been making money already instead of putting it off

I’m a total Jimmy D. Brown fan, and he’s never disappointed me so I jumped on it this time! Membernaire sold out within a matter of days last time, and there might even be fewer slots this time. I was lucky enough to hop on right away, if you don’t want to miss your chance, check it out here.

I plan on digging right in and finally getting this site off the ground.

(I can’t believe how cheap he’s selling this!)

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how incredibly lucky I am as a WAHM. I mean…I get to live my dream of working at home and being with my little baby boy. Not only do I get to stay home, but I get to earn a full time income doing it. This opportunity did not exist as little as 1o years ago (perhaps even 5).

I feel like God has blessed me and given me a great chance here. I couldn’t be happier.

So, what’s the one thing that’s holding me back in increasing my profits? F-O-C-U-S

You’ll hear internet marketers cite focus as a problem all the time. Let’s face it, there are so many opportunities on the web that it can be so easy to jump from one to the other without actually completing them.

I’m getting better though. Every time I start to do something that is potentially taking time away from my business or my family I think to myself, “is this going to better my son’s life in any way, shape or form?” When I do that, it’s powerful. Yes, it puts some guilt on, but that’s what needs to be done.

I’m determined to double my income by the end of this year. That will help us pay off some of the debt we’ve accumulated as well as start saving for my son’s college education. I know it’s achievable and reachable by focusing. I have the tools I just need to continue doing what I’m doing, just on a larger scale.

Yes, the WAHM lifestyle is a lucky one, and I feel incredibly blessed. It would be silly not to take full advantage of all that has been given to me.
