Ζούμε ακόμα σε Δημοκρατία;

Σήμερα η μη εκλεγμένη κυβέρνηση του τραπεζίτη Παπαδήμου με υπουργούς σοσιαλιστές, δεξιούς και νεοναζί θα ζητήσει ψήφο εμπιστοσύνης απο την Βουλή. Οι πολίτες της Ελληνικής Δημοκρατίας έχουν την δυνατότητα να... δουν τις εξελίξεις στις τηλεοράσεις τους!

Επιτρέπει το Σύνταγμα μια μη εκλεγμένη κυβέρνηση, με πρωθυπουργό έναν επίσης μη εκλεγμένο τραπεζίτη, να εξαγγείλει ένα πρόγραμμα που δεν έχει ψηφιστεί απο τους πολίτες μέσω εκλογών; Και ειδικά όταν πρόκειται για ένα πρόγραμμα που βάζει την χώρα σε μια θέση απόλυτης εξάρτησης απο τραπεζίτες και τοκογλύφους, που στην ουσία παραδίδει τη χώρα σε έναν ξένο οικονομικό οργανισμό καί οι επιπτώσεις του θαείναι τεράστιες για τα υπόλοιπα 20 χρόνια.

Είναι δυνατόν ένα τέτοιο πρόγραμμα να επικυρωθεί μόνο με τη ψήφο των βουλευτών στην υπάρχουσα Βουλή, που εκλέχτηκε πριν μάθει ο λαός για την πραγματική οικονομική κατάσταση της χώρας; Τα κυβερνητικά προγράμματα δεν πρέπει να ψηφίζονται απο τους πολίτες; Ζούμε ακόμα σε Δημοκρατία ή έχουμε μια κοινοβουλευτική δικτατορία;

Και βέβαια μη ξεχνάμε ότι ο τραπεζίτης Παπαδήμος δεν είναι ένα νέο πρόσωπο στα Ελληνικά πράγματα. Αυτός με τον Σημίτη μαγείρεψαν τα στοιχεία της Ελληνικής οικονομίας για να μας βάλουν στο Ευρώ χωρίς να είμαστε έτοιμοι για κάτι τέτοιο, όπως φαίνεται σήμερα. Και μετά έπαιξε το ρόλο του οικονομικού σύμβουλου του Παπανδρέου που μας έφερε στα σημερινά χάλια. Είναι μέλος της Trilateral Commission και του Bilderberg group και έτσι είναι με το μέρος των τραπεζιτών και των δανειστών μας. Και βέβαια δεν τον ψήφισε κανείς.

Η Κρίση των Γαιδάρων

(Μετάφραση από το ιταλικό κείμενο το οποίο ήταν μετάφραση του γαλλικού και πάει λέγοντας. Φυσικά τα κείμενα αυτά είναι μεταφρασμένα σε όλες τις γλώσσες γιατί ως γνωστό στην ιστορία αυτή εμπλέκονται επιχειρηματίες, τραπεζίτες, δημοτικές αρχές και φουκαράδες χωρικοί όλου του κόσμου καθώς όλος ο πλανήτης υπόκειται στους «κανόνες της αγοράς» των γαιδάρων.)

Μια μέρα εμφανίστηκε σε ένα χωριό ένας άνδρας με γραβάτα.

Ανέβηκε σε ένα παγκάκι και φώναξε σε όλο τον τοπικό πληθυσμό ότι θα αγόραζε όλα τα γαϊδούρια που θα του πήγαιναν, έναντι 100 ευρώ και μάλιστα μετρητά. Οι ντόπιοι το βρήκαν λίγο περίεργο, αλλά η τιμή ήταν πολύ καλή και όσοι προχώρησαν στην πώληση γύρισαν σπίτι με το τσαντάκι γεμάτο και το χαμόγελο στα χείλη. Ο άνδρας με τη γραβάτα επέστρεψε την επόμενη μέρα και πρόσφερε 150 ευρώ για κάθε απούλητο γάιδαρο, κι έτσι οι περισσότεροι κάτοικοι πούλησαν τα ζώα τους. Τις επόμενες ημέρες προσέφερε 300 ευρώ για όσα ελάχιστα ζώα ήταν ακόμα απούλητα με αποτέλεσμα και οι τελευταίοι αμετανόητοι να πουλήσουν τα γαϊδούρια τους.

Μετά συνειδητοποίησε ότι στο χωριό δεν έμεινε πια ούτε ένας γάιδαρος και ανακοίνωσε σε όλους ότι θα επέστρεφε μετά από μια εβδομάδα για να αγοράσει οποιοδήποτε γάιδαρο έβρισκε έναντι 500 ευρώ!! Και αποχώρησε.

Την επόμενη μέρα ανέθεσε στον συνέταιρό του το κοπάδι των γαϊδάρων που είχε αγοράσει και τον έστειλε στο ίδιο χωριό με εντολή να τα πουλήσει όλα στην τιμή των 400 ευρώ το ένα. Οι κάτοικοι βλέποντας την δυνατότητα να κερδίσουν 100 ευρώ την επόμενη εβδομάδα, αγόρασαν ξανά τα ζώα τους 4 φορές πιο ακριβά από ότι τα είχανε πουλήσει, και για να το κάνουν αυτό, αναγκάστηκαν να ζητήσουν δάνειο από την τοπική τράπεζα. Όπως φαντάζεστε, μετά την συναλλαγή οι δύο επιχειρηματίες έφυγαν διακοπές σε έναν φορολογικό παράδεισο της Καραϊβικής, ενώ οι κάτοικοι του χωριού βρέθηκαν υπερχρεωμένοι, απογοητευμένοι, και με τα γαϊδούρια στην κατοχή τους που δεν άξιζαν πλέον τίποτα. Φυσικά οι αγρότες προσπάθησαν να πουλήσουν τα ζώα για να καλύψουν τα χρέη.

Μάταια.

Η αξία τους είχε πατώσει.

Η τράπεζα λοιπόν κατάσχεσε τα γαϊδούρια και εν συνεχεία τα νοίκιασε στους πρώην ιδιοκτήτες τους. Ο τραπεζίτης όμως πήγε στον δήμαρχο του χωριού και του εξήγησε ότι εάν δεν ανακτούσε τα κεφάλαια που είχε δανείσει θα κατέρρεε και αυτός, και κατά συνέπεια θα ζητούσε αμέσως το κλείσιμο της ανοικτής πίστωσης που είχε με τον δήμο.

Πανικόβλητος ο δήμαρχος και για να αποφύγει την καταστροφή, αντί να δώσει λεφτά στους κατοίκους του χωριού για να καλύψουν τα χρέη τους, έδωσε λεφτά στον τραπεζίτη, ο οποίος παρεμπιπτόντως . ήταν κουμπάρος του δημοτικού συμβούλου. Δυστυχώς όμως ο τραπεζίτης αφού ανέκτησε το κεφάλαιό του, δεν έσβησε το χρέος των κατοίκων, και ούτε το χρέος του δήμου, ο οποίος φυσικά βρέθηκε ένα βήμα πριν την πτώχευση. Βλέποντας τα χρέη να πολλαπλασιάζονται και στριμωγμένος από τα επιτόκια, ο δήμαρχος ζήτησε βοήθεια από τους γειτονικούς δήμους.

Αυτοί όμως του έδωσαν αρνητική απάντηση, γιατί όπως του είπαν είχαν υποστεί την ίδια ζημιά με τους δικούς τους γαιδάρους!!

Ο τραπεζίτης τότε έδωσε στον δήμαρχο την «ανιδιοτελή» συμβουλή / οδηγία να μειώσει τα έξοδα του δήμου: λιγότερα λεφτά για τα σχολεία, για το νοσοκομείο του χωριού, για την δημοτική αστυνομία, κατάργηση των κοινωνικών προγραμμάτων, της έρευνας, μείωση της χρηματοδότησης για καινούρια έργα υποδομών.

Αυξήθηκε η ηλικία συνταξιοδότησης, απολύθηκαν οι περισσότεροι υπάλληλοι του δημαρχείου, έπεσαν οι μισθοί και αυξήθηκαν οι φόροι. Ήταν έλεγε αναπόφευκτο, αλλά υποσχόταν με αυτές τις διαρθρωτικές αλλαγές «να βάλει τάξη στη λειτουργία του δημοσίου, να βάλει τέλος στις σπατάλες» και να ... ηθικοποιήσει το εμπόριο των γαϊδάρων.

Η ιστορία άρχισε να γίνεται ενδιαφέρουσα όταν μαθεύτηκε πως οι δυο επιχειρηματίες και ο τραπεζίτης είναι ξαδέρφια και μένουν μαζί σε ένα νησί κοντά στις Μπαχάμες, το οποίο και αγόρασαν με τον ιδρώτα τους.

Ονομάζονται οικογένεια Χρηματοπιστωτικών Αγορών, και με μεγάλη γενναιότητα προσφέρθηκαν να χρηματοδοτήσουν την εκλογική εκστρατεία των δημάρχων των χωριών της περιοχής. Σε κάθε περίπτωση η ιστορία δεν έχει τελειώσει γιατί κανείς δεν γνωρίζει τι έκαναν μετά οι αγρότες.

Εσύ τι θα έκανες στην θέση τους;

Τι θα κάνεις εσύ;

Περί Εκλογών

Φωνάζουν όλα τα κόμματα να γίνουν εθνικές εκλογές. Και τι θα αλλάξει με εκλογές; Θα εξαφανιστεί το χρέος μήπως; Θα συγκινηθούν οι διεθνείς αγορές και θα μας μειώσουν το επιτόκιο δανεισμού; Θα δείξουν ξαφνικά ξένοι επενδυτές ενδιαφέρον να επενδύσουν στην χρεωκοπημένη Ελλάδα παρόλη τη γραφειοκρατία και τις μίζες που πρέπει να πληρώσουν διάφορους πολιτικούς και άλλους ενδιάμεσους για να πάρουν άδειες να κάνουν κάτι;

Το μόνο που θα γίνει με εκλογές θα είναι να αλλάξει φρουρά στην εξουσία η συμμορία που κυβερνά και ίσως μερικοί απαταιώνες στη Βουλή που θα χάσουν την θέση τους απο άλλους απαταιώνες που ξέρουν να λένε περισσότερο πειστικά ψέμματα. Η γραφειοκρατία, η ανικανότητα των πολιτικών να βρίσκουν λύσεις πέρα απο κομματικά συμφέροντα και η νοοτροπία της κλεψιάς και απαταιωνιάς και του προσωπικού συμφέροντος σε βάρος του συνόλου είναι πράγματα που δεν αλλάζουν με εκλογές και δημοψηφίσματα.

Πιστεύει κανείς ότι οι πολιτικοί, σε διεθνές επίπεδο, είναι εκπαιδευμένοι και έχουν σαν σκοπό να βρίσκουν και να εφαρμόζουν λύσεις σε προβλήματα;

Οι πολιτικοί δεν ξέρουν να βρίσκουν λύσεις. Αυτό που ξέρουν και κάνουν είναι να πείθουν τους ψηφοφόρους ότι έχουν σκεφτεί λύσεις, χωρίς να έχουν καν ερευνήσει το πρόβλημα που συνήθως ούτε καν καταλαβαίνουν, πού είναι καλύτερες απο αυτές των πολιτικών τους αντιπάλων και προσδιορίζονται με βάση κάποια γενική και συχνά θολή πολιτική φιλοσοφία που ακολουθεί το κόμμα τους με τελικό και πιό σημαντικό σκοπό να αρπάξουν την εξουσία για την δικιά τους καλοπέραση και οικονομικό όφελος.

Όποιος πιστεύει το αντίθετο είναι ή αφελής ή μέλος αυτού του μηχανισμού και επομένως έχει κάτι να κερδίσει.

Glenn Beck and his Dreams of a Nazi Youth Camp

Glenn Beck subscribes to the same ideas as the Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik since they are both right-wing Christian fundamentalists who hate anyone and anything different to them so it is not surprising that he does not care for the actions of his European alter-ego.

Furthermore, he compares the young people killed to some Hitler youth organisation.

This Labour Party Youth Camp in Norway is a tradition which goes back to the 70s. Similar camps and political gatherings especially during holidays or the summer are not unusual in Europe. Political parties in Europe are not like the two parties in the U.S. and they have various groups and organisations within the communities (e.g. in schools, universities, syndicates) which have events like concerts, travels and camps. Comparing such a camp organised by the Labour party to a Nazi youth camp fails in many levels but mainly due to the fact that the political philosophy of a Labour party is the exact opposite to that of a Fascist party which in fact is very close to the one of today's Republican/Tea party combo.

People like Glenn Beck (and Sarah Palin but in this case due to complete ignorance) are in the habit of manipulating history and events to fit their purposes and this may work for people ignorant of such matters but certainly not for Europeans who after all experienced Fascism and Nazi occupation first hand.

So, his views not only insult the dead young people of Norway and their families but also the intelligence of people in general around the world. Europeans view Glenn Beck and the Teabuggers (i.e. the U.S. version of the Nazi party) as funny cartoon characters but perhaps, after the events in Norway, it is time to take these ignorant religious fascists seriously and take steps to ensure that Europe remains insulated and free from such dangerous demagogues and their ideologies.

Review of the movie: The Rite (2011)

This is my review of the movie "The Rite (2011)" as I posted on IMDB.

This is a typical religious movie designed to promote illogical supernatural fears, unquestionable submission to the authority of the church and belief in imaginary entities of good and evil that have tormented the psyche of people kept in ignorance by design throughout the history so that a few people in power could enforce their will and rule on the uneducated masses.

Religion is a form of control mechanism that presents the people with an eternal afterlife in stupid bliss and love by force for the creator versus a severe punishment for those who prefer to think rationally and for themselves rather than blindly follow the nebulous commands of a celestial dictator as conveniently and cunningly interpreted and re-interpreted by his representatives on Earth to suit their desires, ambitions, thirst for power and delusions of grandeur.

And the key word in this is "afterlife" because no promises are made for the real and only life we people ever have because the earthly life should be devoted to the service of the celestial dictator and in particular his earthly representatives and all other types of artificial authority figures our society has invented to satisfy people's pursuit of power and domination.

The movie goes to incredible lengths to persuade us of the existence of both the benevolent and malevolent supernatural religious entities by exposing a rational person who made the wrong decision to waste his life by becoming a priest to a wild variety of extraordinary events that cannot possibly be interpreted in any other manner than the supernatural and in particular the delusional preachings of the Catholic church.

Therefore, the message of this movie is this: when coming face to face with extraordinary events suspend your logic and rational thinking processes, run to a library and read an ancient 1st century book written by illiterate bronze-age people suffering from psychotic episodes and everything will be explained for you in full detail, including the name of the supernatural entity responsible for the harm.

If there is something that can be described as sacrilegious in this movie it is not the display of upside down crosses but its great offense against the billions of people who lived and worked and died for our civilization to reach its current level of knowledge and quality of life fighting against the superstitions and irrationality of our primitive past.

I’ve been watching the revolution in Egypt with great interest and hope for the people to succeed in finally removing their dictator of 30 years. The main thing to notice in this situation is the great struggle of the dictator to remain in power by coming up with various tricks (fire the government, claim that he supports the poor etc.) which underestimate the intelligence and the will of the people. Power is like a drug and those addicted to it will try anything imaginable, usually extreme violence, to keep their daily dose.

In our society, the idea of obtaining power and becoming a leader of some sort is indoctrinated from childhood as a mark of someone’s success in life. And yet it this idea that is the cause of most problems in the world with money used as a tool to obtain power, climb hierarchies and eventually rule people in some fashion.

Why is it that there must always be a division of people into rulers and ruled?

Because most people believe that the alternative to having leaders and organise in hierarchies is complete chaos. Because people are taught to believe that the majority of people are stupid and incapable of organising their lives and make decisions for the society without the guidance and supervision of some ruling group.

This idea extends to all aspects of human life, including religion which has the form of an organisation with a clear hierarchical structure and a person on the top who decides what is the true will of God, how people should live their lives etc.

The possession of power inevitably leads to corruption and in spite of their own good intentions leaders become corrupt and abuse their power for their own benefit. At the same time, the leader maintains an order and system that keeps him in power and the society under control by suppressing the people not in power, effectively turning them from independent thinkers to sheep that obediently follow their shepherd to the slaughterhouse. The power of initiative, the sense of responsibility and the self-respect of the people is stolen from them and consolidated in the leader. The leader favours only those who are willing to support him and help him remain in power while he spends most of his time fighting wars in order to eliminate potential competitors rather than performing his duties. He is therefore compelled to become an autocrat and an enemy of democracy.

Science: An Error Correction Algorithm

I can think of two main reasons for the emergence of religion and supernaturalism in primitive people, both based on mechanisms developed in the human brain by evolution through natural selection:

Looking for Agents: Suppose you are in the jungle and you notice some strange signs in the area you live such as multiple small depressions on the ground, dead animals with open wounds and missing parts, peculiar sounds of unknown origin etc. You can either ignore these or consider them to be natural phenomena that you cannot understand. Alternatively, you can interpret them as a result of an agent, some kind of living creature which walks on the ground, hunts and eats animals and makes all sorts of noises that reveal its location. Clearly, a person who looks for an agent is more likely to survive an encounter with a flesh eating animal or some other similar threat since he will be prepared for such an event or perhaps even start a hunt of his own to remove the threat of the predator before he finds himself in a compromising position. Instead, a person who ignores these signs or interprets them in some other manner is less likely to survive the encounter. It therefore makes sense for evolution to favour the development of the brain mechanism which looks for agents for unexplained events since it can improve the chances of genes to survive. However, the human brain is not a perfectly working processing device, despite the claims of the religious, and it can be easily fooled. Misfiring of the mechanism that looks for agents can make people imagine non-existing agents for events that cannot be explained by current accumulated experience or science. Rain and lightning are then explained as the result of some deity’s wrath, tsunamis become the creation of a powerful deity or monster which rules the seas, the result of war campaigns are determined by deities who have a special love for a particular race or state etc. Ultimately, people cannot accept the fact that the biosphere on this planet and in particular their own perfect brains can be the result of natural and seemingly random chemical processes that are not guided or designed by some supernatural, powerful and for some unexplained reason always loving entity, even when science explains and provides evidence for such a natural process that does not require a supernatural agent.
Seeking a Purpose: It is very hard for the human brain to accept the fact that a lot of times things happen for no particular reason or ultimate purpose. Similarly, the human brain finds it very difficult to explain the existence of objects in the physical world that seem to serve no particular purpose. Seeking purpose to events and objects is yet another mechanism built in the human brain that provides evolutionary advantages to the survival of genes. When faced with particular events it is certainly to your advantage to contemplate whether there is some hidden purpose behind them and as a result avoid traps, such as plans of another animal, person or tribe to harm you. Furthermore, this mechanism can provide comfort and reduce stress and anxiety when terrible events happen by either realising or imagining that there is a good purpose behind the events after all. Ultimately, this mechanism is the basis for human curiosity and therefore the development of science which can significantly improve the quality of life and the survival of genes. Unfortunately, as with the case of agent seeking, a misfiring of this mechanism can lead to the creation of imaginary purposes to explain events when knowledge is not available, even in cases when events happen or objects exist (e.g. the universe) for no ultimate purpose. So, a person explains the purpose of death as the road to eternal life which is surely a comforting thought, the existence of the universe as the creation of a loving and caring supernatural god, the purpose of life as a test for the obedience of people to god’s wishes, the creation of life as the result of god’s love and his need to be eternally praised and worshipped, the death of a child as god’s need to enjoy the company of a pure and beautiful soul etc.

It is important to recognise these mechanisms for what they are: beneficial but potentially harmful, and come up with ways to utilise them for our benefit while minimising their undesirable side-effects.
I believe that critical thinking and in particular the scientific method is essentially an error correction mechanism that human beings developed which is capable of utilising the resources and capabilities of the human brain while correcting for errors due to imperfections of the brain’s structure and processing abilities. It is an algorithm that when employed can discard thinking processes that lead to erroneous conclusions, various superstitions and magical thinking.

Different people have different brains and therefore the conclusions of the brain of one person may differ to those of another person given the same input data. In order to correct for errors, the scientific method requires the following:

One presents a clear description of a reproducible process that led to certain results and conclusions.
One makes available objectively verifiable evidence that supports these results and conclusions.
Any other person can duplicate the results and reach the same conclusions by following the same process and examining the provided evidence.

In practice, the scientific method has worked perfectly well and unless evolution through natural selection ultimately leads to the development of a perfect and error free biological brain in the far future, this method will remain the only reliable way for the human brain to make sense of the world and its mysteries.
