So Prop Junkies… I wanna make this whole Prop StAr thing fun and easy for everyone… me included hahaha

I’m making an executive decision (lol) and doing one LAST change to our Prop Star themed fun… I do really miss it being on FB, and seems our FB fans do too (the linkys are a tad annoying, dont ya thing?). Heidi and Sara started out as two friends with a love of crafting, pretty much making things for their children and sharing their beautiful work with others.  Crafting Adventures With Heidi and Sara offer boutique quality clothing for boys and girls and hats and hair accessories for all ages.

As many of you know.. one of our wonderful PI writers, Lindsey Mills Photography, and have enjoyed and cherished her wonderful posts and features her on Prop Insanity….

Sadly, Lindsey lost her studio in a fire last week   It set ablaze (under investigation), and all was lost…. every single tidbit of goodness in her photography world, G.O.N.E.

Lindsey not only lost her studio and all of the equipment in it… but she also lost all of her props in the fire. And as you know… Lindsey LOVES HER PROPS! So, Prop Insanity is going to be doing a fundraiser for Lindsey, and gathering anything from newborn hats, blankets, posing pillow, & wraps, to toddler goodies like headbands, hats… etc… anything, everything!

All of this… was lost…

We are looking for donations near and far… in every category possible, to help Lindsey Mills Photography get back on her feet and shooting behind the lens as she loves… and is so fabulous at!   As her motto says…  A LIFE… A LOVES… A LENS… so lets show her our support, gratitude and huge hearts by helping her get back to her LOVE, photography.

Happy Saturday (again – it seems like I’m always posting on Saturdays!). I’ve been looking forward to sharing today’s shop with you. Not only does Goodnight Mouse have the most adorable name for a shop, Jessica also knits the most beautiful newborn and baby hats.

Here is one of Jessica’s gorgeous newborn wraps, photographed by the talented Sarah Booth Photgraphy (she has kindly provided a couple of the images for this post). I love how it wraps around baby’s shoulders and creates a beautiful line to the image.

I really wish I could knit. I keep telling myself I’m going to learn, but I never get around to it. I even tried teaching myself via youtube videos, but I just don’t have the knack for it. So instead, I turn other accomplished crafters when I want to add to my newborn and baby prop stash. And Jessica with Goodnight Mouse is incredibly skilled at knitting. Her work is absolutely masterful – the stitches are perfect, and her designs are too cute for words. I absolutely adore this pixie hat!

I originally came across Jessica’s shop when I was searching Etsy for an aviator hat for a 6-month-old’s portrait session. I love the little earflap aviator hats, but the detachable felt goggles on this hat are the icing on the cake. This little man’s mom just about died from the cuteness when I put this hat on her baby’s head. And she says it’s the first hat he’s willingly kept on his head since he learned how to take hats off by himself!

Have I mentioned that I love pixie hats? One of my favorite things about Goodnight Mouse is the beautiful yarn colors she offers. Everything is soft, delicate, and perfect for newborns. And she offers a huge variety of colors for both boys and girls. The designs are simple, the fit is perfect, and the hats enhance the image rather than detracting from the beautiful baby being photographed. That’s my idea of the perfect prop.

These sweet li’l pixies work equally well for outdoor sessions! This particular model decided naptime was over by the time we took her outdoors, but the hat kept her nice and warm, and she was content to lie in my cradle for a few minutes.

Poppy Tree Frames

A frame shop with a great little twist.
Along side their gorgeously crafted painted frames, there also lies something truly unique and really fun…

Now in my new studio/store front, I have 4 Poppy Tree Frames frames… a gorgeous double layered one, 2 painted pretties… which you can see the great styles below.

However, my 4th and favorite frame is a real piece of work, piece of art…

Just when I think I’ve looked all through my favorite prop shop finding nothing on this day’s visit, I spy an open curtain exposing a wonderful, messy stacked high, back room. Over joyed, I ask if I could please look in the back.  The owner told me it was stacked thick and I was welcome to but please excuse the mess.

NO PROBLEM! I like a mess like a four year old boy likes mud!

Of course I found a load of goodies that I am having fun using.  Never hesitate to ask to browse the back room when hunting for the perfect prop! These two bucket boxes are just a couple of my finds that day from http://tatteredtiques.typepad.com/.

So I’d like to introduce the newest addition to our PI family… Mrs Sally Roeckell!

Sally Roeckell is a contemporary lifestyle photographer in Barrington IL who specializes in newborns, children, families. Sweet Sally does alot of vintage shopping and junk store mad propping, so I thought it would be a fun idea to have her jump aboard and share her vintage and 2nd hand goodies with all of us fellow Prop Junkies!

Aside from her love of photography, Sally has a busy life as wife and mother of four, which drives her passion to capture simple moments in children’s lives that are so fleeting. First of all… the yarn is yum yum soft!!!  And the color is perfectly toned for baby skin.  The craftsmanship that goes into this hat, its unreal, with attention paid to every tid bit and nook of detail.  Seriously splendid in every way, the form of the hat and the way its made… I adore it.  Speaking of adore… it’s adorned with tiny lil pearl like beads, giving it even more of a unique twist.  Twist… did I say that?  Because check out the ends of the hat, the lil tails are “twisted” in a spiral… DARLING!

It’s so beautiful, it even makes babies smile!
