Files

You have been able to upload files to projects in ProWorkflow for a long time but the file upload interface hasn’t really changed. We’ve just given it a complete overhaul and added some great new features:

• Upload multiple files at once with onscreen progress bars.
• Add files to individual tasks.
• Create custom folders for each project to organise your files.
• Assign permissions to custom folders
• Create private folders to store confidential files.
• Add a message when you upload a file and if you choose to send out an email alert then links to the files will be included that work even if the recipient isn’t logged into ProWorkflow!

These features are available from both the Project Details and Task Details pages, if you need any help using them then just let us know!

Project Details Page

We’ve got some much bigger updates in progress for the Project Details page but as a small teaser we’ve added a couple of new features we are sure you will love!

You can now click on any of the contacts in the “Project Contacts” section to see their contact details. It’s only a small change but one that we think makes a big difference to usability.

Next up, you can click on “Show Descriptions” to bring up the descriptions for each Task in the project, much quicker than having to click on the task and open up a new window!

Not only have we made additional API calls available (thanks for the feedback!) but we’ve also added a new permission and pagination on the API page in the app itself. As a developer you may not be setup with ‘SuperUser’ permission but still be working on utilizing the ProWorkflow API – if this sounds like you then ask your account holder, or an administrator, to add the new permission and you’ll be happy as a pig in mud!

The latest release of ProWorkflow (v7.3) is a massive change from the early v1+ versions and has totally transformed the way you can manage your projects, tasks, time and staff.

We know there are still a good number of ProWorkflow users on code with some users still using old versions of ProWorkflow back to version 1.0!

We want these early code users to experience what the ProWorkflow solution has become so they can benefit from greater ROI (and the awesome tools we’re releasing).

When on subscription accounts,  we manage backups, install updates automatically and manage the whole infrastructure for you. All you need to do is login and use it! We’ll do the rest!

CSV Importing

1. Click “Data” to access the Data Ribbon.

2. Click “From Text”

3. Locate the file you exported from ProWorkflow.

4. Click “Import”.

5. Change the file type to “Delimited”.

6. Click “Next”.

7. Uncheck the box for “Tab”, check the box for “Other” and enter the pipe character “|” in the text box.

8. Check the Data Preview is now showing data in columns, then click “Next >”

9. You can change the formatting for each column at this stage but is generally easier to do that after the import so just click “FINISH”

10. Select where to import the data then click “OK”.

XML Importing

1. Click the “File” Menu.
2. Click “Open”.

3. Select the xml file.
4. Click “Open”.

5. Click “OK” to keep the default option “As an XML Table”.

6. If this prompt occurs then click “OK”.

XML Importing (Custom)

1. Click the “File” Menu.
2. Click “Open”.

3. Select the xml file.
4. Click “Open”.

5. Click “Use the XML Source task pane”.
6. Click “OK”.

7. If this prompt occurs then click “OK”.

8. A list of available XML elements will be displayed. Drag the required elements to the worksheet.

9. Once all elements are in place, right-click on one of the XML elements in the worksheet, select “XML” then click “Refresh XML Data”.

10. Repeat steps 8-9 if you need to add or change any elements then click the “X” to close the XML Source section.

We had seen a few cases where there were several thousand unread alerts and this was causing some pages to load slowly. We think it’s unlikely that anyone will want to read more than 100 alerts and all of the information is still stored in the audit log so it’s still accessible if you need it!
