As you've seen from some of my previous postings, I do tend to have issues with dry hair and skin in the winter months. I know I am not alone. And I'm happy that there are some products out there to help me out.

The Upper Canada Soap Naturally Signature Collection in Golden Maple Sugar Body Soap shown above is fantastic. I love the gentle soap that I can use on my skin. The smooth soap is easy and quick to use in the shower every day. I even used mine to shave my legs with. It helped leave them silky and not dried out like regular soap would.

I also really like the ATOPALM Moisturizing Hand Treatment. This is a great lotion that I can quickly put on my hands every day as needed. If my hands are really dry I can use it each time after I wash my hands during the day. And another thing I like to do is put it on just before I go to sleep at night. It gives the lotion time to soak into my skin and keep it moisturized while I sleep. Plus since I'm not brushing it off or washing it off with water then, it makes my hands silky and soft when I get up in the morning.

It's always good to learn about other cultures and countries. Some people are fortunate enough to be able to take trips around the world and visit new places. Then there are some of us who can't do that, so having some other resources to help us learn more about families around the world helps. That's why the Families of ... series is so great for families. You can teach your kids about different countries and cultures without having the hassle of air travel with children. The newest Families of Philippines and Families of Germany DVDs bring us into the homes of people living in the Philippines and Germany, so we have a little taste about what things are like in their countries.

Awaking early in the morning from his sleeping mat, Khim bathes, eats, and then makes the 10-minutes walk to his public school, which boasts over 10,000 students. Studying plants, computers and other subjects, his favorite class is science. On the way home from school, he stops in the local video arcade to play games with his friends. Later at home, he completes his chores, which include feeding their goats, collecting firewood and cooking the rice for dinner. A fan of dance and karate, Khim is an active, happy boy!

Shahani, 7, lives in the capital city of Manila, a thriving city boasting many modern skyscrapers. Living with her mom, dad and older sister, the early riser (5 a.m.!), gets help from mom getting started in the morning before she's off to school, where she wears a name tag to help the teachers with the over 5,000 students. During the 10 months she attends school, she studies English among other subjects. Mom shops for fresh fish and vegetables every day while Dad works as a children's costumed birthday party entertainer and also teaches dance, which Shahani also studies (and excels - she won a local competition and was featured on television). Enjoying adobo stew for dinner and mango for dessert, she and her sister welcome friends over in the evening for games and fun, then it's off to bed for rest before her big test the next day!

Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany, is a parliamentary republic consisting of 16 states, boasts one of the world's largest economies and is the 14th most populous country in the world. The divided parts of East and West Germany were united in 1990 after the celebrated destruction of the Berlin Wall.

In Families of Germany, meet seven-year-old Sophia from the village of Reimershausen, who lives with her parents, sister Johanna and brother Simon. After a breakfast of bread, cheese and jam made from the fruit in their garden, she is off to school where she and her 19 classmates study English and biology among other subjects. Sophia studies guitar after school when she's not helping out at a neighbor's farm where twice a week she feeds cows and collects eggs from the chickens. Following dinner, she heads back to school cfor crafts and skits. During the weekend her family eats breakfast together, then enjoys activities - this particular weekend they are celebrating St. Martin's Day, visiting Marburg Castle and attending her sister's choral concert. A bedtime story from mom and dad and it's off to sleep!

Ole is ten years old and lives in the capital city of Berlin with his parents, two brothers and two tortoises. It's Halloween, so we get to tag along as Ole carves pumpkins, prepares treats for his neighbors before taking two trains to spend the day uptown, where we see conversation bikes, Segues and tour boats on the river. Upon their return, they head out for some trick-or-treating. The next day it's back to school where Ole studies English and math while his dad, an engineer, works at a jet plane factory and mom teaches at an animal museum. After school it's time for homework and dinner before heading off to handball practice. It's been a long day, so bedtime is a welcome event!

These DVDs will make a great addition to your DVD collection. It's great having education videos that your children and you can enjoy together. They are also great in a school setting. These are perfect for the school library to use in classrooms. It's a creative, fresh way for students to learn about countries. As a teacher, myself, I think kids will enjoy this as an additional way to learn. It shakes it up from the old boring textbook too.

Not You Too!

As a blog reader, one of my biggest pet peeves about blogs is partial feeds. If you read through blog posts in a feed reader, you know what I'm talking about.

I like being able to read a full blog post in my feed reader. Then if I really like the post, I will click through to your blog and leave a comment. (Or I will click through for a fun giveaway that I want to enter too.) But when I have to click through to your blog simply to read the rest of your post, about 99% of the time I won't do it. I don't like messing around. I want to be able to read through blog posts quickly, and save the ones I need to come back to. When I can't read a whole post, I lose interest quickly.

I understand that bloggers want more people to click through to their blogs. Maybe it's for stats or maybe it's for ad revenue. And honestly, those reasons don't bother me. We'd all be happy with better stats and a little extra money in our pockets. But you have to think about how many people this will turn away...like me. How many of your readers will not bother clicking through?

How do you feel about this issue? As a blogger? Or as a blog reader? What do you think about partial feeds? Are you OK with clicking through to finish reading? Or are you like me and that blog probably won't last long in your reading list?

DidiPop Everyday Adventures CD

Maybe you remember hearing the name DidiPop here before. Well if you did, first of all you have a great memory, and secondly you're right. You have seen her music featured here before. Last year I review DidiPop Goes to Hawaii. DidiPop is a great children's music artist that my family has really enjoyed. And now she's at it again with a new CD called DidiPop Everyday Adventures.

A little more about Everyday Adventures:

Routine becomes magic as DidiPop sings her way into children's hearts. "Everyday Adventures," her new CD co-produced in Nashville with Brad Jones, bubbles with rhythmic delight.

The lyrics deliver the empowering message that life can be a wonderland of fun, love and laughter. The song, "Yellow Car," inspired kids to count cars, make wishes and have fun driving with the family. "The Cool Alphabet Song" plays with sound as it both teaches and tickles imaginations. Later, in "Neferdidi," a dancing genie whisks children's [sic] to Paris.

Among the lessons children learn through this CD are: counting, the alphabet, French vocabulary, how to feed pets, table etiquette, days of the week and months of the year. "Everyday Adventures" is a musical adventure for the whole family.

And a little about DidPop- A Decade of Adventures:

2001: Deborah Poppink creates "The DidiPop Show" at the request of Chris Carter (creator of "the x-files") and writes 6 original songs for the pilot. She teaches music and is known as "piano teacher to the stars" in Los Angeles. TV shows "The x-files" and "Jack and Jill" use her songs and she signs a world-wide publishing deal with Bug Music.

2004: Deborah releases her grown-up CD and marries Bug Music president David Hirshland. She has Delilah and, after 20 years, takes a break from teaching and entertaining.

2005-2008: Motherhood inspires a fresh batch of songs. She has Hannah at 43 and soon after heads to Nashville to record songs with Brad Jones. She creates her first YouTube video titled "The Cool Alphabet Song". The song receives a John Lennon Songwriting Award, the video goes viral and is licensed to an English language teaching program in Holland. She debuts at The House of Blues as DidiPop.

2009: On a family vacation in Maui she writes the CD "DidiPop Goes To Hawaii" and records again with Brad Jones back in Tennessee. She hones her skills as an animator/videographer, developing a following on You Tube, and continues to perform.

2011: She releases "DidiPop Goes To Hawaii", creates an eBook, publishes a monthly newsletter and is featured in Ladies' Home Journal. She produces a series of holiday music videos and local kindergarten classes perform her songs in their school concerts. "DidiPop Goes To Hawaii" is a hit with libraries around the country and goes up for Grammy consideration as best children's album. "The Hawaiian Alphabet Song" wins the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Wilco invites her to play at their Solid Sounds festival in Massachusetts and her YouTube views top the two million mark. She releases her latest children's music CD: "Everyday Adventures".

I think it's great when a mom can create things to help children and other moms. Deborah Poppink saw a way that she could reach children through music. And the music is great for children, moms and the whole family. We have enjoyed the latest CD Everyday Adventures. I like finding children's CDs that I don't mind hearing over and over when I'm in the car with my son. This one fits that bill! It will make a great addition to your children's music library. It's perfect for kids ages 1-7 years old.

This DVD was fun and entertaining like you'd expect from Timmy Time. My son and I enjoyed it. The "Timmy Tries to Hide" episode is so funny. We all know what it's like to try to play a game with someone who doesn't get it. Ever try to play hide and seek with a very young child? It doesn't last long. I feel Timmy's pain. :)

We got the black & white Petjamas to put on Zachariah's Penguin Pillow Pet, which is from the Quilty Collection. And we got the Midnight Snack Snugglebag. The Petjamas fit nicely over our Pillow Pet. It snuggles right in around the animals head and even has velcro closures on each side of the head. There is a nice handle that makes carrying the Pillow Pet very easy. I like that the Petjamas still allow you to fold the Pillow Pet with it's own velcro on the sides. There was a minor issue with the velcro coming unstitched from the Petjamas when it's closed. I'm not sure why this happened, but it's not a huge deal. But if left closed, I think our piece of velcro might completely come off.

The Snugglebag only comes in two colors. But those colors go fine with many of the Pillow Pet options. Since the Snugglebags are reversible, you can choose which color you'd like to see on the outside. These are just like miniature sleeping bags. It's the same silky fabric with a zipper down one side. And the great thing about the Snugglebag is that you can use it for other stuffed animals in addition to Pillow Pets. Our Pillow Pet fit nicely inside when it's unfolded, and there is plenty of room if you folded it up in there too. It's like having a little pet sleepover when your kids use this.

There is a lovable, fun, purple dinosaur that has always been a favorite in my house for many years. His name is Barney. First when my sisters were little, they enjoyed watching him each day. Then my son when he was younger started watching it. He was hooked from the very beginning. We have so many Barney DVDs. I haven't even tried to count how many we own (it's a ton). Now my nephews are just the right age to introduce to Barney. I hope that they enjoy him just as much as my son did, so I can start passing videos on to them.

This is important for me, because there are some pans and cooking tools that I inevitably end up wanting to use over and over.

The only thing that bothered me a little about this was I had to be careful where I put it on the sink. If it was near the faucet or sprayer, it would sometimes trigger and dispense soap when I didn't want it to. Or if someone put a dish into the sink and got too close to the sensor that happened to. You just have to be careful of where you place it, so that it isn't losing soap unnecessarily.

Have you seen the Shalom Sesame DVDs? They are so much fun. The Sesame Street muppets teach children (and their parents too) about the Jewish culture and Israel. I am not Jewish, so a lot of this is new information for me. I love learning about different cultures and traditions, though, so watching these is always a learning experience. It's the same for kids. The DVDs have some of their favorite characters teaching them all these great new things. And if you are Jewish, it's a great way to teach your young kids more about your traditions and culture.

There’s a temptation to stretch the legs out and that needs to be resisted. They need to be able to straighten themselves out naturally and gradually. Parents should allow for room in the swaddle – or sleepsack – for baby to bend at the hips.

Prescription Drug Abuse

I can't believe the stories that I hear about prescription drug abuse. And the statistics prove that it's happening. Actually my sister is a pharmacy tech, and she sees stuff like this in her line of work. They are trained how to spot people who are using prescriptions to sell. There are safeguards in place at her pharmacy that should spot people who are abusing their prescriptions, but there are always ways around the system too. This is a problem that is difficult to control too.

We got to try some samples of the Styling Gel and Structure Whip. The styling gel was great for when Zachariah need a little extra control. It helps his hair stay put and helps the frizzy stuff. The structure whip is perfect for fancier styles that need some hold. For my little guy that means spikes and faux-hawks from time to time. These are great for styling his hair without the worries of unwanted chemicals.

For us the gel and structure whip we only use them once in a while. However, it is handy and helpful to have on hand. I am definitely interested in trying the Spotless Tot very soon. This is something that would be easy to use for my son.

Bathroom Remodel

Have you gone through a home remodel? If you've done any work on your house, you'll understand how much work it can be. But most of the time it is totally worth it when you are finished.

Before we had our son, we decided to remodel the only bathroom in our house. Our home is over 50 years old and everything in the bathroom was original. We ended up gutting our old-fashioned bathroom and starting from scratch. If you've remodeled, you know that's a lot of work.

It also means you have to pick out everything new. You need to decide on a sink, vanity, mirror, toilet, bathtub/shower, tile, bathroom lights, and everything else. It can be a bit overwhelming. You quickly learn that there are lots of choices and you have to get a good idea for what you want.

Starting over does give you a great opportunity to put your own mark on a room. Our old bathroom was all in musky pinks and light browns. But the previous owner had painted over the tiled walls and drywall with white. It was boring and plain. And the pink that showed through, plus the pink/brown tub, toilet and sink were far from what I liked. And the old flooring was carpet. Ugh, carpet is not fun in a bathroom. I chose neutral colors, like white for the toilet and tub, and tans/grays for the sink and flooring. Then I found a great vanity, and cabinet that I adored. I looked at contemporary bathroom lights and paint colors.

Once I got a feel for what I wanted in the bathroom, it was fun to pick everything out. And in the end I found a fun shower curtain with colors that I adore. I was able to match paint to the colors on that. Now our bathroom is much more vibrate and functional for our family. Remodeling comes with plenty of headaches (there are stories for another time), but I think it's worth it in the end.

Who would have thought there was so much value in improving the tech at my office? My employees had been bugging me for years to upgrade the office but for me it all just seemed like a big waste of money. I hired a neighbor of mine to come in and do some IT work and he gave us all kinds of suggestions for making things better around the office. He talked to us about backing everything up and looking into Business VoIP and even working with an accountant to integrate all our books digitally. I think it’s good that we’re doing this and though I wish it didn’t cost so much but I know that at the end of the day it’s important to realize I’m going to get it all back some way or another, you know? It’s all about being the best boss I can be and for my office that means making it a more pleasant working environment for all of my employees to work in. That’s the goal!

Tiny Tillia Review

Have you seen Avon's baby product line- Tiny Tillia? They have products from bathtime care, like shampoo and baby body wash, to clothes, toys and accessories all for the little ones in your life. Their products have functionality and a definite cute factor that you'll enjoy.

We tried out several of the Tiny Tillia products. First one of their adorable blankets went to my little niece. She is 6 months old, and it was perfect for her. At 30"x40" I think it's a perfect size for cuddling baby. The colorful animal design on front was great, and I was pleasantly surprised by the soft fleece layer on the back. The material on both sides is very soft and warm. Grace snuggled with it right away.

We also passed the Tiny Tillia Diaper Rash Cream to Grace. (She hasn't told us what she thinks yet.) They use a 3-in-1 formula for the diaper cream with vitamin E in it as well. It's made to keep baby's skin soft and clean, and it's even great for sensitive skin. It comes in a generous 3.4 oz tube that's sure to last quite a while.

My 5 year old son, Zachariah, has been using the Duncan Dog Citrus Sorbet Shampoo & Body Wash. This is easy to use for him. He doesn't need much shampoo for his hair, so it's easy to use a little in his hair and then use his scrubbie for body wash as well. I really like the fresh scent of this too. And my son likes the cute little doggie on the front as well.

We tried the traditional recipe with all our family favorites added to it. Then for a sweet twist, I made the Muddy Buddies recipe. New Knitted Cowl

I just finished making this knitted cowl. I love it. I made one with different yarn for my sister-in-law for Christmas. (I forgot to take a picture of it.)

I enjoy this pattern. It is fun to make and turns out nicely with any yarn. I'm actually thinking of selling this one. If you're interested, you can contact my by email or twitter. The yarn is soft and warm. And it's washable too. This is great to give you extra warmth this winter without the hassle of a long scarf.

Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked Video Game

The new movie is out. "Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" is a great movie that your whole family will love. I was able to take Zachariah to see it before Christmas. I went knowing he would like it, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it too. The Chipmunks and Chipettes are together again and on a cruise this time. Of course Alvin finds a way to spoil things for everyone. Go see this movie, your kids will thank you!

Now you can find the Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked Video Game. It's currently available for Wii, Kinect for Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. We got the game for our Wii. We enjoy our dance games. I have all of the Just Dance games and some other similar ones too. My son and I can dance together to our favorite songs. Now my son can enjoy it a little more with Alvin and the rest of the gang dancing to their own music.

I like that the Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked Video Game is great fun for everyone. The songs have a wide appeal that my parents, myself and my son can all enjoy. The characters are easy to set up in the game. You can pick with Chipmunk or Chipette you want to be. And you can take survey to see which character you are most like. (Mine is Jeanette.) The dance moves are pretty simple, and as long as you are on the beat you'll do well with this. I think that it's easier for my son that the Just Dance games. The moves are simpler, so it makes it easier for him to get them.

There is only one thing that I don't like about the game. This is a common complaint with me about video games too. I have a 5 year old son who loves this type of game, but it's rated E10+. This is supposed to mean for everyone 10 years old and older. I've found that almost all of my dance games have this higher rating. I believe it's for some of the song lyrics. I haven't found anything terrible that I don't want my son listening to, so if he plays this game along with me I OK it. At least then if I do hear something I don't want him to, we can change the song or turn it off.

Starting Out Right in 2012

Thank you to all of my loyal blog readers and contest entrants. I appreciate each and every one of you. I hope that you had a fabulous holiday season with your family and are already settling nicely into this new year.

My family had a great Christmas. We've been dealing with some illnesses, which is why you've seen some absences here at PS Mom Reviews for a few weeks. Between traveling for holidays my son and I have both been sick and seen doctors (which doesn't happen very often for either of us).

We are happy to be home now from all the traveling. My house is a mess of toys, new Christmas presents, and Christmas decorations that haven't come down yet. I have leftover holiday goodies filling up my kitchen as well. My goal is to work through all this stuff this week in between other things going on and back to school/work hectic-ness.

I have been thinking lately about some things that I really want to work on this year with this blog. I have some goals that I want to make and work towards. This blog has come a long way from where it started. The same things that worked when I began, aren't really working now. But my passion and enjoyment for this blog still remains. So I think it's time for a few changes.

A new year is always a good time to work on new goals in life, so that's what I'm doing for my blog as well. Here are some things that I'd like to work on here:

Write more personal posts.
Get to know my readers better.
Be more honest and less "advertisement" sounding with my reviews.
Get reviews written and giveaways posted within 4 weeks of receiving items and getting started with PR reps.
Find more big ticket items for review and giveaway for my readers.
Seriously consider purchasing my own URL.
Write about my crochet and knitting hobbies.
Purchase DSLR camera to take better product pictures of my own.

Thanks for being a fantastic reader and sticking with me through the ups and downs. I'm sure this year will be filled with lots of ups. I can't wait to see what's in store for my life and my blog.
