Promotion of mental health and emerging evidences for effectiveness of preventive interventions have important implications for public health policy and clinical practice. Preventive interventions towards specific mental disorders are always multimodal strategies; brief psychotherapies are one of the ingredients of such interventions. Timelimited psychodynamic psychotherapies share the basic common ground of other psychoanalytic approaches and are effective tools into preventive settings, especially for early interventions in childhood and adolescence and for common emotional disorders.

In this paper Authors, firstly define the concept of prevention, in the light of the criteria recently proposed by a "science of prevention". They take into account the preventive potentialities of psychotherapy in particular the Systemic one, especially in blocking chronic evolution of psychic suffering. Under this profile the importance of mental health professional’s intervention is underlined: it become a "risk factor" or a "protective factor" with regard to the distress situations which it deals with. In order to confirm the prevention effectiveness of psychotherapy, some researches are synthetically presented: that of CNR about the Mental Illness Prevention, and those of Onnis and colleagues about the prevention of chronicity in childhood asthma and in adolescent eating disorders. Finally Authors underline the importance of mental health professionals’ psychotherapeutic formation, in order to guarantee an effective program of prevention chronic psychic distress, especially in the public services context.

This paper presents primary and secondary prevention theories and strategies aimed at health promotion in the developmental age and describes prevention strategies based on the Attachment Theory by J. Bowlby and prevention programs developed in the school environment and addressing children’s and teens’ health promotion needs. A description of the Life Skills Based Education and of the Peer Education Prevention Model is provided, being both strategies described in the paper as privileged methodologies to promote health with children and teens. The theoretical contribution coming from the cognitive model and the role of the Cognitivistic Psychoterapist in the context of these prevention strategies is underlined, though a multidisciplinary and trans-theoretical approach is suggested as needed in this field.

Prevention of depression in young people needs to adopt a twofold approach, prevention of illness based on risk factors and mental health promotion focusing on social and emotional wellbeing. This article describes the supportive policy context and resource base in Australia and the public health conceptual framework that exists. For young people, within this approach, action involves awareness raising and prevention as well as a focus on strengths, resilience and capacity building of organizations to work in ways that support young people. Universal and targeted preventive interventions are described including MindMatters a national mental health promotion program for secondary schools and innovative internet based strategies. These demonstrate that the prevention of depression in young people requires complex, multi-level strategies.

The rescue teams that deliver first aid are exposed to dramatic situations and suffer a sort of "psychic infection" because of the grief observed. The traumatic image is strongly attached to the psyche and can be "silent" but active for many years. Psychodrama sets emotions free, allows suffering and traumatic experiences to be worked out and prevents stress reactions and potential self-destructive behaviour.

The goal of this paper is to show, through a clinical case, a particular analytic attitude aimed at bringing out the stream of consciousness in which the classic dichotomy of internal and external, conscious and unconscious,semantic memory and procedural memory are abandoned. A sensitive knowledge, based on sensation and imagination, that allows, in the analytic encounter the opening to a new order of meaning through the value of a sensitive language. In other words, the Author proposes an analytical path that goes beyond pre-defined evolutionary pathways, and is focused on an individuation process that enhances the uniqueness of the patient.

G. case allows to make some observations on psychopathology and on the therapeutic strategies to use in this kind of case. G. is considered a patient with symptoms of dissociative compartimentation appeared after an adult sentimental relationship. The sentimental relationship described as well as the family relationships, make to assume that there is a copresence of a Dipendant Personality Trait. The two conditions of psychopathological suffering and copresence are analized to describe the manteinance dynamics and then the psychopathological decompensation. Some short notes on the therapeutic strategies to adopt in a cognitive perspective are added at the end of the comment.

The authors report as the clinical work in the psychosomatic field showed a relative inefficacy of the treatments if based only on the biological therapy (drug) or on the exclusive verbal therapy. Hence the need to develop a psychotherapeutic approach based on a structured integration of different techniques, compatible among them in agreement with "The movement for integration" arose in the seventies in the United States. The kind of approach developed is indicated by the acronym PIIEC (Integrated Imaginative Psychotherapy with Body Expression), which precisely involves the integrated use of different techniques with the aim to widen the possibilities for therapeutic intervention in psychosomatic perspective.

Pulp Fiction. The Quentin Tarantino’s postmodern cinema

The Author analyses the film "Pulp Fiction" of Tarantino which is, among the film directors, the main representative of the post-modern tendency: the systemic relationship is the protagonist in this film as well as in others of the same author: it put in evidence how the single character has no coherence and no consistency as an isolated individual. Postmodern style is one of the most expressive cultural aspect of the so called "globalization" that is the progressive interdependence of the systems in the planet. The film presents five interwoven stories putting in crisis the linear causality order in favour to a circular causality conception expressed by the film direction too. One of the film’s meaningful aspect is also the liking for the quotation of other texts and films of different cultures and times, (from thriller to western, to musical) that is not only the typical post-modern style, but expresses also, in Tarantino’s cinema, the condition of psychological and cultural instability of a globalized system.
