Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan passed away

Former chief veteran and reformist election commissioner passed away on Sunday at his residence in Tirunelli Chennai after suffering cardiac arrest. He was 86 at the of death.

TN Seshan was a retired 1955 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre. Seshan had earlier served as the 18th Cabinet Secretary of India in 1989.

Tirunellai Narayana Iyer (TN ) Seshan, former Chief Election Commissioner and the man responsible for ushering in electoral reforms passed away today. He was 87 years old. TN Seshan was the 10th Chief Election Commissioner and had served form December 12, 1990, till December 11, 1996.

He was popularly known for enforcing Model Code of Conduct. Seshan also waged war against the tendency of politicians to flout the model code of conduct, which they were supposed to abide by.

TN Seshan was a retired 1955 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre. Seshan had earlier served as the 18th Cabinet Secretary of India in 1989. He had also won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his services to the government in 1996.

Adapted from a Italian-made Tecnam P2006T twin-engine propeller plane, the X-57 has been under development since 2015 and remains at least a year away from its first test flight in the skies over Edward Air Force Base.

Non-traditional agricultural exports from Peru to China comes to a total of $ 60 million between January and August 2014, which shows an increase of 64 percent over the same period last year, The report came from the Foreign Trade Society of Peru (ComexPerú).

This figure is close to that recorded around 2012, when the export shipments of the non traditional agriculture products to China totaled $ 67 million.

Items boosted export shipments of this sub sector between January and August of 2013 are fresh grapes with $ 28 million and a growth of 154 percent over the same period in 2012.

Also, algae, which recorded an export value of $ 23 million, up 38 percent; tara powder, an amount exported six million (41 percent), and the giant white corn, with shipments 336.064 (60 percent).
The agricultural sub-sector showed a remarkable dynamism in the period 2006 to 20012 to grow at an average rate of 56 percent per year, driven by the preferences obtained through the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Peru and China.

ComexPerú said that in the period from January to August 2013, non-traditional Peruvian exports to China totaled 247 million showing an increase of 20 percent.
Trade with China in 2012 reached 15.683 million dollars, making China the largest trading partner of Peru.

Meanwhile, traditional Peruvian exports totaled 7.849 million dollars last year.

China will boost its economy by relaxing requirements for business registration

China will boost its economy and the emergence of new entrepreneurs, especially in the SME sector by relaxing the requirements that the country now has to register a new business, company, said the Chinese premier, Li Keqiang, quoted by the media Chinese.

According to a statement issued by the Chinese State Council, Li said these new measures "will help expand private investment, strengthening the foundations for economic recovery and create more job opportunities."

The new measures include the elimination of the minimum capital required to set up enterprises: in the case of a limited liability company (LLC): 30,000 yuan ($ 4,900), to form a single company 100,000 yuan ($ 16,433) and 5000000 yuan (US $ 822,102) for an incorporated company.

Also there will be no limitations on duration for the contributed capital, which in turn will no longer be a requirement for the registration of a company- so the duration and amount of capital to be invested will be decided by the founders of companies.

"By expanding market access and establishing a system of modern, efficient and transparent business registration, we streamline government administration, create fair competition and support small businesses, especially innovators," said Wen in statement, quoted today "China Daily".

It was also reported that the annual inspection companies will be replaced by an online information system in which they will have to make public their business operations and increase the transparency of their negotiations.

Other requirements such as business location will also be simplified, while firms who commit deceptive or aberrant practices be made public.

The measures will promote a fair and competitive business environment, said the Chinese State Council said in the statement, adding that it will also mobilize social capital and are in line with market expectations of social investment to expand and strengthen the economy

"The minimum requirement of registered capital was created to protect creditors, but because in many cases (employers) offered it served a minimal role," said the expert private economy of the Academy of Social Sciences of China, Ju Jinwen, according to "China Daily".

He also noted that the elimination of this minimum capital investment lowers the threshold for betting instead on monitoring intermediate level (with the public online system).

"The ultimate goal is to promote entrepreneurship among private investors," he said Ju.

Other experts added that the measures will drive more people with less money to launch their own companies, through a more convenient and fair procedure.

Director Damian Chapa Has been chosen by Indie film company Munich International pictures to write and direct an unauthorised film associated with Gerry Adams and 'the troubles'.

Munich International Pictures, an Indie film company, offered actor/director Damian Chapa to compose and direct a biopic regarding the actual life of Gerry Adams and the controversy around his arrest.
A spokesman for the company says the film will be named: GERRY ADAMS unauthorized.

Chapa has revealed that he's "used to controversy after being the only person who has directed biopics about Roman Polanski, Bobby Fischer and Marlon Brando."

Chapa won the Best Director and Best Drama awards at the New York International Independent Film Festival.

Chapa states that, "The story will be created on historical facts regarding Gerry Adams' rise to the Sinn Fein leader and then his arrest. Chapa said, "The timing of Adams arrest seems interesting since Sinn Fein had been poised to make significant gains in elections in the Republic of Ireland."

A partner in Munich International pictures had been quoted as saying, "No matter where the artistic endeavor of the film lands, for sure the spirit of the film will be empathetic to both sides of the troubles victims," Munich Lawyer Nicola Mayerl heads MIP.

Atleast 18 Dead as Violent Tornadoes Hit Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa

As the day broke over a dark scene of broken trees and ruined homes there, weather forecasts informed that tens of millions of people — from Iowa to the Gulf Coast to the Carolinas — happened to be still in the path of a days-long storm system.

“The worst is not over,” said Kevin Roth, a meteorologist for The Weather Channel.

Faulkner County, Ark., particularly the suburban area of Mayflower and Vilonia, was the roughest hit Sunday. Ten people had died there, and respective authorities said that at least 150 homes had been damaged.

Bulldozers and backhoes were getting deployed to help rescuers comb the debris and search for survivors. Crews tried to be confident, however they expected the death toll to climb in the sunlight, the sheriff said.

The damages in Arkansas may have been made by more than one tornado, produced from a so-called supercell thunderstorm. Two other deaths were linked to the tornado outbreak, one in Oklahoma and one in Iowa.

Fast Camel Street, Camel Hump Street, Virgin Camel Street, and Baby Camel Street…the UAE can expect to have many more camel streets name as part of your immediate future, as indicated by Abu Dhabi Municipality.

It is planning to rename much more than 1,000 roads throughout the Abu Dhabi emirate. There is also supposed to be an Anchor Rope Street and countless streets named after desert plants, gazelles, jewellery and the pearling industry.

Authorities claim it is the biggest street renaming project have you ever witnessed in the Gulf, which cover 80 per cent of the land area of the UAE – and the Abu Dhabi federal government expects to achieve the complete mapping system online by the end of 2015, with a digital satellite navigation system to follow.
With one thousand new street names, that ended up being numerous local history researching. While the accurate English translation has not been successful for many of the names, we have started giving literal translation from Arabic.

Acts of bravery emerge from pilloried ferry crew

She was later found dead. Some people been working from rescue boats to break windows with hammers and extract people stuck in cabins to safety. Almost a week after the wreckage of the South Korean ferry, with increasing outrage over a death count number that would ultimately come over 300, the public popular opinion against the crew of the Sewol has been savage and fast. "Cowards!" social media users roared. "Unforgivable, murderous," President Park Geun-hye said Monday about the captain and a few crew.

Some of the crew fled the ferry, including the captain, but not all. At minimum seven of the 29 crew members are missing or dead, and some of those who survived stayed at or near the ship to help passengers.
Much more than 100 people are verified dead and nearly 200 more are still missing.

Captain Lee Joon-seok told passengers to remain in their cabins as the ferry began sinking and filled with water. He took at least half an hour to command an evacuation and apparently escaped on one of the first rescue life boats.

Everest dangers are clear from the Icefall fear

On Everest, everybody is aware that the Khumbu Icefall is dangerous. They've already well known about it for many years for its danger.

It is known ever since the very first Everest mountaineer, George Mallory, turned away from the Khumbu Icefall in 1921, insisting that it was not possible to pass.

This is a river of ice, a kilometer or so of continuously shifting glacier punctuated by deeper crevasses and overhanging hills of ice that can be as high as 10-story buildings. It can easily move two meters (six feet) in simply 1 day. Crossing over it could take 12 hours.

In the Khumbu Icefall, crevasses might open — or perhaps close — in less than a day. Ropes will probably be snapped by the shifting ice and leave ladders damaged. Emerging glaciers — on the Icefall itself or on the Western ridge of Everest — can separate off in a moment, triggering off avalanches that deliver 1000s of ton of ice straight down the mountain.

That is exactly what occurred a week ago when a section of glacier sheared away from the mountain peak, triggering an avalanche of ice that killed 16 Sherpa guides as they ferried clients' gear up the mountain. It was the most hazardous disaster in Everest climbing history. More at

Google celebrates Earth day 2014 with animated doodles of Rufous humming bird & others

On the celebration of Earth day 2014, Google has arrived with six animated doodles sketching some species. The doodles illustrated these species in their unique environment in a colorful way.
