Super big! and Super fun!

This Pucca doll is super cute! I laughed when I saw it because it was so much bigger than I expected. I think it said it was 12 inches tall but it is 17 inches tall and 10 of that is the head! It has cute little red silk scrunchies around the hair buns that match the red brocade silk shirt and are removable. This doll could be considered a pillow. It is made from good quality fabrics and doesn't seem cheap at all. My 6 year old daughter has been playing and sleeping with this doll for the last 2 months since she got it. It is cuter in real life than in the picture. The shipping was also super fast!

Subscription revenues increased 13.3% to KRW 6,393 million (US$ 6,832 thousand) for 2007 from KRW 5,643 million for 2006. The increase resulted mainly from increased revenues from commercializing Emil Chronicle Online, Pucca Racing and Requiem in 2007.

Cost of revenues was KRW 13,746 million (US$ 14,689 thousand) for 2007, representing a 14.8% increase from KRW 11,978 million for 2006. The increase in Gravity's cost of revenues is mainly attributed to increased commission paid and partially attributed to commercialization of Emil Chronicle Online, Pucca Racing and Requiem.

As a result of the foregoing factors, gross profit for 2007 was KRW 19,940 million (US$ 21,308 thousand), representing a 12.2% decrease from KRW 22,710 million for 2006. The gross profit ratio declined from 65.5% in 2006 to 59.1% in 2007.

Selling, General & Administrative Expenses ("SG&A")

The Company reduced total SG&A by 8.2% to KRW 29,960 million (US$ 32,015 thousand) for 2007 compared with KRW 32,623 million for 2006.

This reduction in SG&A was attributed primarily to lower commissions and R&D expenses. R&D expenses decreased by 33.9% from KRW 9,229 million for 2006 to KRW 6,096 million for 2007 (US$ 6,514 thousand) because R&D expenses were converted into intangible assets (capitalized R&D cost) after open beta testing and into cost of revenues after commercialization. In 2007, the Company commenced open beta testing of Ragnarok Online2(tm) (May 28), Requiem (July 21), Pucca Racing (August 2), W Baseball (August 23) and Bodycheck Online (August 29) and commercialized Emil Chronicle Online (August 2), Pucca Racing (September 20) and Requiem (October 10). However, the open beta testing and commercialization of these new games contributed to increasing advertising expenses by KRW 2,751 million (or 81.6%), while simultaneously offseting a portion of the decrease in SG&A.

Pucca has also attained a small, but dedicated cult following in the U.S. after its release on television through Disney and products featured in "Morning Glory" stationary stores across America, mainly in large malls. The UK also has Pucca pencil cases / tins which have become quite popular, stationery and notebooks / diaries. In Israel, a Pucca branded snack was launched on May, 2006.

There is also an ongoing manhwa series in Korea, which has been translated into Chinese and German, of Pucca and Garu traveling around the world through an enchanted board game. Their friend travelers include Abyo, Ching, Mio, Yani and Ssoso. Ching, Pucca's best friend, is in love with Abyo, who is Garu's best friend. Pucca has a cat named Yani who loves Garu's cat, Mio. In the series, Pucca and Garu are the only human characters who very rarely speak (It is stated that Garu has taken a vow of silence). Instead, they communicate with giggles, grunts, and other various sounds (much like the online Flash cartoons). However, there are occasional instances in which Pucca can be heard to say one to three syllable phrases, and it is said by Ching that she is a good singer. This was shown in an episode where Pucca sang an opera song in a karaoke club.

To top it off, this month the company is publicly testing “Pucca Racing.” Co-developed with Gravity, the maker of Ragnarok, an online game enjoyed by over 40 million users worldwide, “ Pucca Racing ” has Pucca racing all over the world, stopping by all the famous places like the Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower of France, and the Parthenon of Greece. “We have been developing new characters – Canimals and Myo & Ga. The Canimal, named so because the toy is placed in a can, targets the two-to-six age group. Myo & Ga, meaning the hare and the turtle, is aimed at the 8-through-12 year-old set.

As a matter of fact, Arena Mobile, which owns the largest mobile content distribution network in Europe, has had its eye on us for the past three years and this year the president of Arena Mobile personally came to the Global Mobile Content Awards in Korea to sign a contract with us.”

So Vooz has signed a contract to supply content to Europe’s largest mobile content distributor, Arena Mobile. The contract will give Vooz royalties revenue amounting to 150 million won from Spain and the Middle East.

But more important than such monetary gains is the part this contract will play in expanding its business. It’s understandable, as Vooz has sold roughly three thousand different types of products in 130 nations since venturing out into overseas markets in 2002.

The company has partnered with top-rated companies like Walt Disney and Warner Brothers, earning 95% of its revenue from foreign markets. Pucca is leading the worldwide surge of Korean-developed characters. What is the secret to this remarkable success?

“Pucca is a character born out of careful market and consumer research. Vooz has gained enough experience in character operations to set up a digitalized and systematic management scheme for each character. We also try to meet consumer demands and keep up with market changes by distributing new manuals twice a year.

I believe Pucca was able to appeal to the European or American markets by playing up her Oriental features. Her strong, vivid colors stood out against the pastel-colored characters in the markets of the West.”

Pucca is the child of meticulous marketing strategy. Tailored to meet market demands, Pucca succeeded in making a strong impression on consumers from early on. Vooz constantly upgrades Pucca, releasing a Christmas version, a Hansel and Gretel version, and the Hangeul, or Korean alphabet, version of Pucca.

This is how this plucky daughter of a Chinese restaurant owner has become such a long-running character. Breaking the notion that character products should be in pastel colors like pink or sky blue, Pucca’s main color is vivid red, which has brought about a strong market reaction. Emboldened by the overseas success of Pucca, Vooz has ventured into new territory this year to broaden its customer base.

“Vooz is a multimedia content developer and Korea has more than enough resources for the online game content industry. Pucca was designed by Vooz Character Systems in January 2000. After some success as the flash animation series Pucca Funny Love, it was licensed for merchandising late in the middle of 2001. This gave it a firm foothold to further expand to a global market in 2002. Gravity's local partner Ini3 Digital will be responsible for the operation and management of Pucca Racing in Thailand. Pucca Racing is expected to move into open beta phase in Thailand on Feb. 18th, 2008. All the players will be allowed to participate in the open beta. Abyo
Abyo is very outgoing, competitive, stubborn, energetic, and excitable. He's Garu's best friend, and he's also good friends with Pucca and Ching. A practitioner of Kung-Fu, Abyo uses nunchucks as weapons. Abyo's signature move is a running gag in the series: he jumps up, yells "Hi-Ya!", and rips off his shirt at least once in every episode. His physical appearance is an homage to martial arts icon Bruce Lee, but unlike the late martial artist, Abyo's personality is very headstrong and impulsive and it is with this kind of attitude that he is often left with the shorter end of the stick. Abyo is the son of Bruce, the police chief of Sooga. He trains under Chang at the Turtle Training hall with Garu, Ching, and Ssoso. He's also a bit of a womanizer, yet completely ignores Ching's crush on him, much to her frustration.

Ching
Pucca's kind-hearted best friend. Ching is a very sweet, happy girl who is generally well-liked for her sunny, upbeat attitude. She is the daughter of Chang, the owner of the Turtle Training Hall, and she trains under her father with Garu, Abyo, and Ssoso. Ching uses two swords in battle. Ching is in love with Abyo, which he occasionally reciprocates, although he's usually too obsessed with other girls to notice her, which causes poor Ching no end of frustration. Ching has a pet chicken named Won who sits on her head. The eggs that Won lays apparently have magical properties.
