Well I am back,I just had to take a long vaction but there is nothing better than home. The fishing continues to be one of the best in the last couple of years now that our tourist season is in full swing our boats are going out almost every day of the week and tuna is everywere this year, this past week I whent out with capitan victor on an 8 hour charter, about 22 miles out from the marina outside the northside of the bay to an area called (el faro) we were useing big eye live bait and laned some bonitas to put in out tuna tubes for extra bait, although the tunas are small they shure put up a geat fight,on the average it took me about 20 minutes to land each tuna useing 20 lb test line, the tunas were about 15 to 50lbs on average.thanks to victor and his deckhand for a memorable fishing trip.until next time.
this fishing season is off to a great start and the first week of October has been one of the best weeks in months! We are landing mahi-mahi from 15lb to 40lb, sailfish and marlin.

This week Michael Mark and friend went out for 3 days, first day 4hr (that will keep you in the bay) and Michael landed 5 mahi-mahi, then next day 8hr and amber jack and mahi- mahi, and 3rd day 8hr they landed a 90lb sailfish, mahi-mahi and some red snapper between 10lb to 15lb (bottom fishing)
so they had a great fishing weekend!
As you see, mahi-mahi can be landed inside the bay and outside the bay for the moment.
Untill next time!
We are in September "El mes patrio" or "the month of our country" as we all know it in México.
In the early hours of September 16, 1810, father "Don" Miguel Hidalgo (Catholic priest), accompanied by several conspirators –Iganacio Allende, Doña Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez- rang the bell of his little church, calling everyone to fight for liberty. This was the beginning of the Independence war against the Spanish colonial goverment, which lasted 10 years.

This event has since assumed an almost mythic status.[5][6] Since the late 20th century, Hidalgo y Costilla’s "cry of independence" has become emblematic of Mexican independence.

Each year on the night of September 15 at around eleven in the evening, the President of Mexico rings the bell of the National Palace in Mexico City. After the ringing of the bell, he repeats a cry of patriotism (a Grito Mexicano) based upon the "Grito de Dolores", with the names of the important heroes of the Mexican War of Independence and ending with the threefold shout of ¡Viva Mexico! from the balcony of the palace to the assembled crowd in the Plaza de la Constitución, or Zócalo, one of the largest public plazas in the world. After the shouting, he rings the bell again and waves the Flag of Mexico to the applause of the crowd, and is followed by the playing and mass singing of the Himno Nacional Mexicano, the national anthem. This event draws up to half a million spectators from all over Mexico and tourists worldwide. On the morning of September 16, or Independence Day, the national military parade starts in the Zócalo, passes the Hidalgo Memorial and ends on the Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City’s main boulevard.

A similar celebration occurs in cities and towns all over Mexico, and in Mexican embassies and consulates worldwide, on the 15th or the 16th. The mayor (or governor, in the case of state capitals and ambassadors or consuls in the case of overseas celebrations), rings a bell and gives the traditional words, with the names of Mexican independence heroes included, ending with the threefold shout of Viva Mexico!, the bell ringing for the second time, the waving of the Mexican flag and the mass singing of the National Anthem by everyone in attendance. In the 19th century, it became common practice for Mexican presidents in their final year in office to re-enact the Grito in Dolores Hidalgo, rather than in the National Palace. President Calderón officiated at the Grito in Dolores Hidalgo as part of the bicentennial celebrations in 2010 on the 16th of September, even though he had to do this first, to launch the national bicentennial celebrations, in the National Palace balcony on the night of the 15th.[7][8]

The following day, September 16 is Independence Day in Mexico and is considered a patriotic holiday, or fiesta patria (literally, holiday of the Fatherland). This day is marked by parades, patriotic programs, drum and bugle and marching band competitions, and special programs on the national and local media outlets, even concerts.
the tuna continues to amaze me,We are still landing tuna in the 6hr charters at the south side of the bay.
they are much smaller than what we are use to in these waters. (20lb to 150lb) but put up a great fight, specially using light 20lb test line.

We have been using live bait, castmasters of all kinds & luhrs and all seems to work just fine.
Small dorado (mahi-mahi) and sailifish are finaly starting to show up, but Marlin, are still a no show in the 8hr charters. you still need a 10hr to 12hr charter to have a chance with the blue and black marlin.
hopefuly soon we will start spoting Marlin in the 8hr range

do not forget to visit Puerto Vallarta fishing for more information about our charters
Sorry for the delay with our fishing report but we are finally back.
This week I went out fishing on the 28ft panga "la bella del mar" with my friend Bob, captain Torri and "Flaco" as deckhand. We headed out to the southside of the bay to an area called "El Faro" just outside the point of the bay, used luhrs, castmasters and live bait and to our amazement, everything worked throught the day and we landed pleanty young yellow fin tuna in the 20lb to 35lb range.
this is just the beginning of our tuna season and the big monster tunas (200lb to 350lb) are just around the corner.

We also spotted a few mahi-mahi but could not get them to bite.
The water temperature is now about 83º so we should start landing big blue, stripped and black marlin soon,so untill the next time!

the water temperature and our climate is finaly starting to warm up,so we are starting to spot bill fish getting closer to our bay of banderas, also mahi mahi, but for nowwe are in "african pampano" heaven. (of course we are not in Africa)
I went out with captain Nacho in a 26ft panga called "La Bamba" about 22 miles out to the area of "el morro" and the elephant rock.
We were fishing using live bait and early in the morning we landed 3 tough fighting amber jacks, one in the 45lb range and 2 in the 20lb range but around 12:00pm, we started hooking up the delicious african pampano non stop! one after another from 5lb to 30lb. in total we landed about 20 pampanos and 3 amber jacks.
the water temperature continue to stay cool and has not warmed up much,so we are still landing snapper, roosterfish and african pampano in the 8 hr charters. this week I went out with the "sea hog" with captain Victor on a 13hr charter, about 45 miles from the marina, outside of what we call "el banco" and near the Maria Cleofas island. we had one good fishing trip to remember! the tunas were everywere and we landed 3. 150lb to 175lb tunas and stripped marlin.

it has been a while since my last fishing report, with all the holydays and such...but i am back!

I went out just outside the marietas islands this week and had one good day of fishing.
Due to the cold water temperatures that have hit us for the past month, the type of fish that we are landing has changed. we are now in redsnapper´s heaven and also a lot of african pampano.
on this tour i used a lot of live bait and landed redsnapper one right after another using: (big eye) live bait.
they were around 10lb to 20lb snappers! I also landed a couple of roosterfish in the 35lb range and some african pampano. enjoy the pictures!

This week´s fishing trip took me out to the north side of the bay for an 8 hrs charter. We went to Sayulita and San Pancho area approx: 25 miles form the marina. we trolled at about 6.5 notts and had little luck for a couple of hours as We were looking for Mahi-mahi but then captain Cesar from the "Gaviota" spoted a sailfish sunning on top of the water! We procedded to cast a big eye live bait infront of him and hooked him.he put up a great fight! total fight time: 27min.

as the day progressed We landed two Mahi-mahi and hit the shallower waters and caught two red snappers but then landed a 40 lb roosterfish using live bait which was one great task to get him in.
So...We had another succesful trip! thanks to captain Cesar and his crew.

In the afternoon we cruise along the coast and watch for whale, dolphin,
manta ray and turtle sightings before returning to the Marina. We start the
against the boat at the end of the day. Our professional chef will prepare
you local specialties for a full dinner, made with the freshest ingredients
and tasty cocktails to compliment. When the stars come out we sail toward
Regarding about the incident that took place here in Puerto Vallarta last Wednesday, I have to say that is terrible but is well know by everybody that the drug lords are affecting our peaceful lives by doing this kind of acts, Puerto Vallarta is still a safe, clean, friendly, gorgeous city and beach destination to visit and live. Incidents like this one occurs not only in Mexico but also in the U.S.A, Canada,France,Germany,Spain,Argentina,Ecuador,Colombia and in many other Countries around the world, media is punishing us again with alarmist headers with the main purpose of keeping vacationers in their own Country. The place where the incident happened is located in Francisco Villa street,( behind Costco) and it was called “las pink-cheladas” this was a small business outside the touristic part of Puerto Vallarta where anybody could go in without the proper inspection or security check (making this place a perfect spot for drug dealers). Not in the main avenue, not in the boardwalk or Malecon, not in the old town, not in downtown, not the marina or the hotel zone. Thanks for your concern and let´s live a life full with joy and faith for a brighter future.Your Mexican Amigo: Juan Carlos

by: Juan Carlos

Get to the main maritime terminal, representatives of the Tour company you booked previously will be waiting for you at the main entrance. Once you are inside the facilities, feel free to walk around and explore the area while the rest of the passengers that will be part of this adventure arrive. In the terminal area you will find souvenir stands ,coffee stands, a big map of Mexico as well as Parrots, and seals to take a picture with. After your representative makes the call to board and you take your seats in the boat and get comfortable, the journey will begin. Get ready with your camera because it is very common to see wild dolphins, manta rays, and turtles behaving in their natural environment while you cruise along Puerto Vallarta coast in your way to “Los Arcos”.

“Los Arcos” (the arches) is a natural rock formation at the south side of the bay that holds impressive reefs, deep and mysterious tunnels, caves, arches and a colorful variety of sea life, making “los Arcos” a great place to practice scuba diving and snorkeling, Pelicans ,“bobo birds” and other species find “Los Arcos” the perfect place to reproduce. “los Arcos” is a Natural marine park where you will be able to practice snorkeling for approx about 30 min. after doing this activity enjoy an exotic drink while you get to the next stop, the Open bar will be ready with Beer, Tequila, Rum, Vodka and mixed drinks. Depending on the tour company you chose, the next stop could be 1.-the fishing village of “Quimixto”

Nestled at the edge where the jungle meets the beach, this charming little village has one of the most popular waterfall destinations. Make your way to this beautiful waterfall by foot, or optional by horseback.

2.- “las animas” beach.

this gorgeous sandy beach awaits you with a variety of sea food restaurants where you will have lunch (included)* and relax in this peaceful beach only accessible by sea.

During your return from your final stop, the boat and its crew will come alive with a festive Mexican party with contests and lots of fun.

By Jonathan Peinado.

Good morning to all my fishing buddy’s

This week has been a new beginning for dorado (mahi-mahi) in Puerto Vallarta, the heavy rains have filled the natural rivers to their capacity, and the river flow into the ocean has attracted the dorado to the bay, I went out for a short 6 hour fishing trip this Sunday around the river divide just inside the bay ,fishing around the tree stumps and palms that flowed out from the rivers to the ocean, these areas are a favorite feeding grounds for big dorado and other ocean fish such as Toro and smaller game fish, my partner Juan Carlos and I landed 4 Dorado in the 15 to 30 lb range and landed a few (bonitas).so it was a fun and successful fishing trip, cant wait for my next trip out. so until next time
