Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.

-Ronald Reagan

An epiphany hit me as I watched Hannity’s Boom Town special about Washington D.C. last week. Las Vegas, for all the trouble it can get its roughly forty millions yearly visitors into, is a staggering tribute to free market honesty.

How is this possible for a place that thrives on gambling, drinking, and sexualized shows based on Pirates of the Caribbean?

Because unlike Obama’s 2008 false claims about presiding over an open and honest administration, Vegas truly is transparent. No one of adult intelligence has any illusions about what the glittery desert town is. Vegas is fun, superficial, and provides tremendous entertainment value in order to earn its wealth.

It doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.

Not pretending to pay for your healthcare and not paid for with your tax dollars.

Which brings us to our nation’s capital. D.C. is a near total fraud. A place that stages semi-mock battles between Congressional Democrats and Republicans – although there are some solid Elephants in Washington thanks in part to the Tea Party - while pretending to be America’s guardian angel and then robbing us blind. What makes this even more distressing is when you consider that this glossy, parasitic, Washington, is the same city from which the great Reagan once led our nation out of the Jimmy Carter darkness from.

Of course, Hannity’s use of the term, “Boom Town”, to describe Washington D.C. is painfully ironic. D.C.’s “success” stems from the antithesis of what a Boom Town is supposed to be. A Boom Town historically results from an explosion of wealth due to generating some great value to the rest of the nation. Northern California had Silicon Valley, Texas had oil, Detroit had the autos, the Dakotas have oil and gas, and Vegas itself, through massive tourism.

Unfortunately, Washington D.C. generates nothing. Its opulent existence is due to the billions of yearly tax revenue the federal government strong arms from the rest of the nation. And while many Americans believe that their sacrificial thirty-five percent is going to the betterment of the country, it is for the most part, not. Our tax dollars instead fuel a Federal Budget that is now close to four trillion (up from two trillion ten years a go) and a permanent political class lifestyle that rivals anything seen on Rodeo Drive or Midtown Manhattan. Additionally, D.C. is currently ranked number four in the nation for generating millionaires; the average compensation of federal government employees is now $120,000 per year; and seven of the ten wealthiest counties in America are counties that border D.C.

Naturally, most liberals will think this is great. They won’t care that D.C. also ranks third in the entire country when it comes to income inequality. Nor will it bother them that D.C.’s rise to the nation’s top in new building construction, Lamborghini ownership, and foreign wine consumption all results from a system of crony capitalism, and a new type of pseudo specialty, Political Intelligence. Nope, liberals are mostly concerned with shiny things and won’t care about D.C.’s nefarious means. They also generally don’t understand what the role of the federal government is supposed to be in the first place; Washington’s corruption won’t distract them from their usual obsessions of the planet’s temperature going up and down, gay marriage, and government funded, on demand abortions – crony capitalism, blah, to a lib that’s boring.

Liberals like Italian super cars but they don’t like American capitalism.

However, if you are reading this article – and appreciate it - you are most likely not a liberal, so let’s take a look at what crony capitalism actually is.

CC occurs when a business’s success is tied to its connections with government. Thus, rather than earning revenue by providing Americans with a great service or product, a company rakes in a profit as the beneficiary of political favoritism in the forms of gaining legal permits, government grants (hello GE and Solyndra!) and special tax breaks.

This is a huge problem.

Corporations have discovered that they can make more money by lobbying than actually producing things. Thousands of good looking, twenty-something year olds are deployed by crony corps to influence pedal politicians and special interest groups – a career choice that suddenly makes being a Vegas bookie or shot girl seem pretty damn noble. This mutation of America’s economic system not only taints our competitive, free market but also encourages otherwise bright people to follow a shallow path of hustling instead of doing something of actual societal worth.

And D.C.’s warped version of the American dream doesn’t stop with crony capitalism. From the world of lobbying comes the offshoot career of “Political Intelligence”. This is our capital’s version of legalized insider trading. Under the title of Political Intelligence, ex politicians get hired by D.C. based hedge firms to go to the Senate floor to find out if a certain piece of legislation is going to be introduced that could have a big effect on the markets (everything from fossil fuels to healthcare). Thus, these hedge firms obtain a huge advantage over the public when it comes to their ability to capitalize on sudden market shifts and consequently distort a particular company’s value for everyone else.

And Obama tells us to worry about Wall Street.

So compare D.C.’s trickery to the Vegas casinos. Sure, the odds are stacked against us every time we sit down at the Black Jack table or Roulette Wheel, but we know this and accept the risk in exchange for the thrill – and real possibility of making some money. Even more important, you have to willingly travel to Vegas for it to get your cash; you’re not living in Iowa and being taxed by the Vegas Strip so it can construct planet sized hotels and throw video game and porn star conventions.

This brings us to the most critical difference between the two cities: accountability. Vegas has it. D.C. doesn’t

Vegas is effectively policed by the consumer. If people get sick of Vegas then no more money for Vegas. Congress, on the other hand, polices itself. No matter how sick of Washington we are, it still keeps taking our hard earned dollars. This will continue until we as taxpayers collectively throw down the hammer and says enough is enough. Being stuck with Democrats running things in Washington is bad enough – they are, after all, the party of big government - but the fact that the establishment GOP is partying right along side them makes the situation intolerable.

And this is why Americans miss Reagan so much. The Great Communicator was our last true small government President and our nation’s best leader of the twentieth century. He believed in a federal government that served the people, not one that extracted their wealth from them. And this is why America needs to not just win the Senate and keep the House in 2014, but place representatives in there that adhere to principles, that not only Ronald Reagan, but also America’s Founding Fathers envisioned the role of government to be.

We’ll see what happens in the next two years. But until then, Washington D.C. will remain the town that only the biggest suckers put their faith into.

And they can have it.

I’ll stick with Vegas.

As Hilary Clinton continues to prove that real-life vampires are in no way sexy, I’m convinced that the former First Lady is every bit as politically blood thirsty as her predatorial husband and as soulless as her ex White House boss.

The Line of the Senate Benghazi hearing, courtesy of Countess Clinton:

“What difference, at this point, does it make?!”

Hilary is a brilliant political blood sucker. She knows the difference. And she wasn’t about to concede a single blood stained drop of the truth.

So at Wednesday’s hearing, the former Secretary of State pulled the same stunt that Obama did in the second Presidential debate when Romney challenged him on the Benghazi issue. Get emotional, get indignant, and in Hilary’s case, shriek louder than any of the Senate Republicans were willing to shout. Yes, Rand Paul told Hilary that he would have fired her and John McCain displayed some toughness that would have been great to see back in 2008, but as a whole, the day more closely resembled an ode to the shrill, politically immortal monster. Democrats in Congress gushed over Hilary’s tenure as Secretary of State; seventy-two year old super-fan, California senator, Barbara Boxer – who wore a “Hilary 2016″ sticker on her jacket – stormed out of the hearing room infuriated over Paul’s comments; and afterwards, MSNBC and NBC News declared that Hilary’s ‘bold, brave’ performance solidified her spot as the 2016 Democratic Presidential Nominee.

You mean there’s a YouTube video we can blame for the attacks?! That’s great!

Still, despite Hilary flashing her fangs and sucking the fight out of the Senate Chamber Republicans, she really didn’t help her potential Presidential cause. The mainstream media will get bored in a couple of days (the msm had barely covered the Benghazi massacre up until the hearing). And with Hilary now out of office, Slick Willie’s better half will be reduced to slumming with the ladies from the View (Whoopie Goldberg on Hilary’s theatrics: The Bitch is back!) and maybe hosting an episode or two of Saturday Night Live.

In other words, four years is a long ways away. And while the female Clinton unit still possess the dark power to mesmerize liberals, her vampiric days of government service are probably over. New Democratic candidates will rise between now and 2016 and they will most likely use Hilary’s four years of scandal and ineptitude against her. With Benghazi being the final stake through her political heart.

The fiscal cliff! The fiscal cliff!

For the love of God! We’re about to go over the fiscal cliff!!!

Liberals love drama.

And no one is happier to bring it to them than their puppet masters : The Far-Left.

Yep, we’re back to the misery-loves-company dynamic of the Far-Left and liberals. It’s big, culture destroying, business. And, as usual, the Far-Left radicals set the programming while liberals ogle and drool over whatever entertaining dramatics flash in front of their faces. The formula is simple; keep it loud, keep it vapid, keep it trendy, and always, always make Republicans, conservatives, or Americans the bad guys.

This is why the Democratic Party has become more and more the equivalent of a hypertensive soap opera. Every week – or every day for that matter – America is shown a bloated episode of smug people doing hysterical things with the latest ratings grabber currently involving some sort of intangible scenic landmark known as the fiscal cliff.

And in case you were unaware:

THE FISCAL CLIFF SIGNIFIES OUR NATION’S IMPENDING ECONOMIC DOOM! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Now most Americans can’t stand the show. But liberals are hooked. Nobody loves melodrama like libs and The Cliff is just another thrilling series for them to sink their teeth into.

Can Obama save us from disaster?!

Will the evil Republicans force America to go over the cliff?!

What is *John “Tan Man” Boehner going to do next?!

*Based on yesterday’s purge of solid conservatives from House Budget and House Financial Services Committees apparently continue to screw Republican voters over.

Obama. Boehner. “The Fiscal Cliff.” Check local listings for viewing times in your area.

Now should liberal voters maybe ask themselves why this dark, mystical cliff was never mentioned before the election?

Of course.

Will they?

Not in seven trillion years.

Progressives hate to think critically. They’re want no-questions-asked excitement, feel-good-about-yourself moments, and scandal. Lots and lots of scandal. Just take a look at some of the Far-Left’s other most highly rated shows among liberals:

- Al Gore’s Man-Made Climate Change: The Earth Will Melt (Or Freeze) Tomorrow!

- Middle East Heat: The Sexy Story of the General Petraeus Love Triangle

- Kids and Multiculturalism: How To Make Your Son or Daughter’s Circle of Friends Resemble A Box of Skittles (documentary)

- And the year’s biggest winner, the action packed feminist blockbuster, Bullet Proof Glass Ceiling: The Republicans’ War on Women!

This 2012, only one woman dares to hate Republicans, dares to hate paying for her own contraception, and if she had a job, would dare to attack the “glass ceiling”.

However, this type of manipulation is really nothing new. The Far-Left has always known how to sucker the liberal intelligentsia with stylish programming. For example, in the sixties you had Fashionable Radical Takeover of Academia; then the 1970s brought us the hallucinogenic rock musical, I Hate the U.S. Military: The Story of Peace, Love, and Flower Power; and in the 1980s, we had the epic tear-jerker, Everyone Is Homeless In America – which, very interestingly, was cancelled the second Bill Clinton got into office.

Of course, liberals can be finicky and it’s occasionally a challenge to give them a show they want to pay attention to. But the Far-Left doesn’t have to worry about libs changing the channel because they’ll never tune into any of the outlets (i.e. FOX) showing the more complicated programs such as The Benghazi Story, Hurricane Sandy, Fast and Furious, Tyrannical Executive Orders, The Mysteriously Vanishing American Military, Wild Chicago Murder Rates, and The Abandoning of Israel. However, it is critical not to go too long without keeping the progressives entertained, because a bored liberal just might one day turn into a non-voting liberal.

And the Far-Left can’t have that.

So let liberals stay in their world of fantasy cliffs, rising oceans, and evil, Oliver Stone inspired Wall Street types. Perception is reality – or at least frequently mistaken for reality - and if liberals could cope with the real thing then they would have started doing it long before they voted to reelect a President who, when not destroying the country, laughs at them behind their backs for being too dim to realize they’re at the top of his hit list.

But that’s the problem with people who obsess over the make-believe villains in a phony drama.

You ignore the real life monsters who are much closer than you think.

“I can actually embrace this guy.”

-Bill Maher on Chris Christie

If the reelection of Obama is the all-time heavyweight champion of politically aggravating events, then the feisty second place goes to the fallout of now having to listen to Democrats “advise” the Republican party on what it needs to do to survive.

Of course, the imperative word is “survive”.

The Liberal Times

Wanted: A team of Republicans to permanently drag the Elephant Party down to life support status.

Requirements: *Candidates should be fluent in promoting a need for some sort of vaguely defined fiscal responsibility while remaining ambiguous about their stance on anything that has to do with social policies, education, immigration, national defense, and the environment. Qualified applicants must also reflexively apology for every transgression of political correctness made by themselves or fellow Republicans, declare a love for America without specifically advocating American Exceptionalism, and never ever question the integrity of the mainstream news media.

*Republicans of color need not apply.

And this is where New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, comes in.

To Democrats, a squishy Republican (ethically not physically) is the perfect opponent. The squish will never win over a significant block of Dem voters with a platform that only sells half the Democrat entitlement dream. And no matter how much the media fawns over a squish now, they’ll destroy him the second a campaign season officially starts (which at the rate things are going for 2016 could be in about a year).

Of course the more confident the sucker is the better. And with Chris Christie, liberals not only have what they look for in a desired fall guy but they don’t even have to lure him into making the usual “moderate” mistakes.

Saturday Night Live’s latest political guest host will do that all on his own.

Liberals love New York, Saturday Night Live, and Chris Christie!

From Christie’s inexplicable denial of the intrusion of Sharia law into America and chummy relationship with the Hamas front group CAIR, to his siding with the climate change scam gang, to the Governor’s Casablanca moment with Obama a few days before the election, a Chris Christie Presidential run is everything the Left needs to truly delegitimize the Republican party.

And it’s clear the Governor wants the shot to do just that.

An opportunist if there ever was one, Christie turned his keynote speech at the RNC into a campaign kickoff for 2016 when he mentioned Romney’s name only seven times and shouted “I!” thirty-two times. Did the speech help Christie’s political ambitions? I don’t know. But in case you were wondering how broken up Christie might have been after Mitt’s loss, the big guy pretty much answered the question when he rumbled onto fellow RINO Joe Scarborough’s MSNBC talk show last week, Morning Joe, to join in on the post-election stomping of the former Presidential candidate for the observation he made about Obama winning by giving out free stuff (which is absolutely true).

The Dream Team

The ironic thing about Christie’s emergence though is his timing. If things hold up, he will be the ultimate “moderate” going up against what will most likely be the strongest bench of conservative candidates since the 1980 Republican primary. It is pretty tough to envision Christie successfully running the gauntlet against a group which could include Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Alan West, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz; however, it would have been ten times as hard in 1984 to imagine a guy like Barack Obama becoming President of the United States.

Simply put, anything can happen.

Regardless of the futuristic role of the dice though, one thing is certain, you can pretty much always judge a politician by the company he keeps. And if Maher’s praise of Christie confirms every suspicion we have of the king of New Jersey then conservatives more then ever have to be vigilant to root out the troublemakers.

The Democrats are a difficult enough nemesis as it is.

But when you’re stuck with Republicans who have friends like Bill Maher, who even needs political enemies?

Ah, the whirlwind of emotions.

Shock, depression, anger, sadness.

And finally, worst of all, the icy cold sensation of helplessness.

How in the name of the Reagan Revolution could we have sunk so far so fast?

I spent the night of the election in a sleepless daze. And Wednesday morning and afternoon in an exhausted funk. I listened to Rush, swore at my television, and pondered a career as an Arctic desert nomad.

And then, surprisingly, I felt…sort of…optimistic.

We can dwell on the selection of Mitt Romney; analyze the debates to death; obsess over the inexplicable bump the President got thanks to his Lifetime channel moment with Chris Christie; be angry at the rigid libertarians who voted for Gary Johnson; rant about massive reports of voter fraud, and lament the hundreds of thousands of absentee military ballots which were never counted.

I love you President Marxist. I love you too Governor RINO.

All legitimate reasons as to why we lost the election.

And all reasons that do not address the elephant in the room that conservatives can no longer ignore.

What our side now needs to totally realize - and I mean totally realize - is that it’s time to expand our base.

For the past five months Republicans have obsessed over polling numbers. Romney is up by 2%! Romney is down by 4%! It’s tied! Romney is up by 5%! Yay!

Mitt Romney should have won this election by twenty points.

And this fact. And it is a fact. Is where the optimism sets in.

The fate of America was never meant to come down to the whims of a few independent voters – regardless of which way they ultimately swung. You wouldn’t put the fate of your business, friends, or loved ones into the hands of the intellectually or ethically vague and you certainly don’t spend 140 million dollars trying to woo a group of people who will never really understand what you are talking about in the first place.

Reagan blew out Carter in 1980 for three reasons:

1) Jimmy Carter was – at the time – the worst President in the history of the free world.

2) Reagan was the right man at the perfect time.

And most importantly…

3) We had a nation capable of both understanding and embracing Reagan’s message.

America has traditionally been, and I believe almost still is, a center-right nation. And based on the character of its people plus Obama handling the nation’s finances like a hyper-indulgent eight year old with a hundred million stolen credit cards, Romney’s run should have ended in a victorious blowout. Unfortunately, the eighties are long gone and fifty-one percent of our voting electorate has no idea how a successful society is supposed to work.

So how do we resolve this?

Well, according to the Dems and moderates, the Republicans must “reach out” to certain groups who just don’t seem to feel comfortable voting for the party that doesn’t try to completely undermine our country.

Of course every conservative worth his or her salt knows that “reaching out” is code for pandering and that the Democrats would love nothing more than to see the Republican Party turn into an even squishier version of what it is now.

I imagine a conversation among the Democrat brain trust going something like this:

Democrat X: I can’t believe it! Obama barely won! And that’s with us running the sleaziest campaign of all time!

Democrat Y: And the cheating! Don’t forget the cheating!

Democrat X: I know! I know! We worked so hard on that! Here’s what we do though; we trick the Republicans into becoming more like us. We get them to promise the Hispanics, single women, blacks, and gays more stuff!

Democrat Y: Yes! Yes! Get them to promise more stuff because they won’t be able to promise as much stuff as can promise and then nobody will vote for them!

Democrat X: Exactly!

And that’s why center-left inspired “reaching out” will solve nothing.

It’s also why expanding our base is not really a demographic issue.

It’s an educational one.

Blame the mainstream media, music, movies, celebrities, or the internet, but the truth is that these outlets, no matter how intrusively liberal they are, are absolutely dependent on poorly shaped, emotionally dominated minds for their manipulations to work.

Romney’s Presidential run didn’t end in failure because he’s not Ronald Reagan. Romney would have beaten Carter in 1980 and Reagan would have struggled to defeat Obama in 2012. Romney – although nowhere near the real deal that Reagan was – should have been good enough. He ran on optimism, self-reliance, and entrepreneurial spirit. Three qualities this country badly needs right now, and unfortunately, as we now know, have very little meaning to a significant segment of the voting public.

Even The Great Communicator would have had a challenge winning over America today.

Of course, this predicament didn’t happen overnight.

For the past sixty years, and grossly accelerated since the onset of the Clinton era, the Left has poisoned our academic system. Students from kindergarten to college have been trained to think by feeling and the teaching of the Constitution is at best treated like a lazy afternoon conversation about some half dug-up dinosaur relic.

Would you like your sixteen year old son to be engaged in a legitimate intellectual and philosophical conversations regarding American exceptionalism and its place in the world?

Well then you better teach him yourself because our educational system wants no part of it.

How about your daughter who’s in her freshman year of college obtaining a stellar understanding in how the free market is the mechanism which makes the existence of her shiny iPod possible?

See answer to previous question.

You say you’d like the twins to receive an honest, unflinching education of the, at times harsh, but vastly heroic truths concerning American history?

Hahahahaha!

To combat this, parents obviously have to make the extra effort to teach their kids the fundamentals of our nation. But it’s very tough to keep your child’s attention about the tenants of freedom and liberty when he’s being hammered everyday by teachers about how fossil fuels are destroying the planet. Thus, conservative minded parents have got to start flexing their muscle with the school board administrations. The days of solely being concerned about your kid’s grade point are over. An “A” in a grossly misleading history, government, or social studies class, is a worthless – and even dangerous – “A”.

And this brings us to the land of higher education where we cross over the voting age threshold.

In a nutshell, it’s time we stop giving our youth a free pass for being politically stupid.

“Oh, they’re just young!” ”We were like that too when we were in college!” “They’re just idealistic! They’ll come around!”

Lines like these might have been cute twenty years ago but the penalty for such flippantness is now a second term of the walking, talking, Democrat disaster.

As in 2008, the eighteen to twenty-somethings overwhelmingly went for Obama – in fact, more of them voted for him than in the last election! The hip, young people just can’t seem to grasp how the hip, middle aged President is going to ruin their future. And Romney’s incredible business successes, which of course includes an awesome level of job creation, meant next to nothing to a generation which is now desperately trying to find a level of work that justifies the enormous expenses they just incurred, or still are incurring, in college.

Why?

Because these voters have no educational foundation that allows them to comprehend the capitalistic philosophy.

Just the word capitalism itself has been disfigured into a sort of Oliver Stone fever dream where monstrous Wall Street types slash and burn the lives of anyone worth less than fifty million dollars. We’ll never get through to the youth vote if the terminology we use provokes a hostile knee jerk reaction and if just a single unabashedly constitutional conservative class existed at the undergrad level, I honestly believe we would instantly win over a meaningful number of youthful voters.

However, it’s not just the miseducation at the college level which is an issue, there’s also a more seductive aspect to the campus life dilemma and this was perfectly symbolized in the surreal “My First Time” ad featuring HBO’s Lena Dunham.

Yes, the vote for Obama/have sex with Obama theme was repulsive. But for me, the sub-message which implied that the career dream for young people should be a lifetime of education was even more problematic. When Mz. Lena implores the voting virginals to think about who we want as our President for the next four years because “in college age time that’s 150 years” our little quasi feminist is basically saying ’Hey, you hard partying young hipsters, don’t worry about growing up. College is forever!’

Would you want this person advising your daughter about anything?

Mitt had no chance to compete with this. Not because he was square, but because to a number of charged up college kids, an eternity in undergrad and all the contraception you can stack under the loft in your dorm room sounds like a fine destiny.

Now, the thing that’s crucial to remember here, is that, as a whole, the youth vote is neither inherently lazy or irrational. However, thanks to the manipulations of academia, many young people are starry eyed and apathetic as to what the real issues are. Thus, it is imperative that we start to show the colleges and universities who’s really in charge. There’s no reason for us to be losing this demographic election after election other than 1) politics just don’t seem real to most young voters (partially due to the education they’d received prior to college) and 2) they are bullied and brainwashed by professors who wouldn’t last thirty seconds trying to make a living off campus. The danger of this is then compounded when you consider that for many of these students, it takes another eight years after graduation (factor in an additional 2-6 years for graduate school) to realize that what they’d learned in terms of economic reality, social reality, and the context of America’s place in the world is completely wrong.

And as with high school, the power lies within the parents to make a stand with the universities. The romanticism and nostalgia revolving around college life is blocking many parents and alumni from holding these schools’ feet to the fire. It’s time to send a message to the leftist eggheads running these universities that if they don’t shape up, they’re not getting another nickel. Not in tuition and not in donation – regardless of whether or not their school’s football team makes it into the top twenty five. These institutions need us more than we need them and I think people would be surprised how quickly the educative mega corporations of the Big Ten, ACC, Mountain West, and Ivy League would buckle under the pressure.

But there’s more…

In addition to raising the wisdom of young voters, there’s an added bonus to sharpening up our educational system because within the youth vote are segments of those above mentioned coveted groups (Hispanics, single women…etc). We don’t have to pander or compromise, but we need to make the effort to bring the ones who are otherwise sincere, logical thinkers onto our side.

And there’s our twenty points.

We can galvanize as a party and we can find our twenty-first century Reagan, but until we start to enlighten young adults and twenty-somethings, we will continue to depend on trying to squeak by in these elections.

And conservatives don’t strive to succeed by cheating or squeaking by.

That’s what liberals do.
