Just a word of warning, however. As always, Obama's website has some creepy terms of use. One of the submission terms is that you give Obama for America "perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, sublicensable, royalty free license to publish, reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, edit, modify, create derivative works of and otherwise use the Submissions in any manner or media." (Emphasis mine).

Unsurprisingly, the Obama campaign reserves the right to "edit" and "modify" your words, which means you can write "Obama is the worst President in my lifetime," and they can quote you as writing, "Obama is the greatest President ever."

Sunday Morning Bible Story

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and
the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not anything
made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light
of men.              John 1:1-4

There is a greater hoax in world culture today than global warming.

It is the hoax that nothing created everything. It is the hoax that
billions of years ago, there was a big bang and out of nothing came
stuff. Whatever. And how do we know this?   Because several
guys and gals have studied dead men's bones, and arranged them
in order, from the shortest to the tallest. Voila -- ergo -- there is
no God.

The problem in the world today is not politics, it is theology. Once
man has established that there is no God, it is a simple step to
live in the non-reality that there is no right and wrong, no morality
to keep, no rules to obey, nothing to do but lie, kill and steal in a
finite quest for power. Good luck with that, it don't last forever.

Theology is the study of God. The study of God must begin with
the written revelation delivered by God to a world which reads.

So we have the Bible, and it says that "in the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God." It
doesn't take a mental giant to admit that God was God in the
begining. What beginning? Who knows? This beginning had
to pre-date Genesis 1:1.   The point is that in this beginning,
God was there and the Son of God was there, already, before
the beginning. The funny thing is, a first grader can accept
that as eternal truth. It takes an adult with no concept of faith
to deny that.

Then the passage says that "All things were made by Him,"
then just to make sure those with faith could understand,
the apostle John repeats the truth, "without him was not
anything made that was made." H-e-l-l-o --pretty simple,
what?

God created the world and all things in it. The Son of God,
Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world
was there in the beginning, and was God, in the beginning,
and still is, BTW.

I don't really think it is creation which makes men think
and say there is no God. It is verse four which they cannot
accept: "In him was life, and the life was the light of men."
If God is God, If Jesus is God, If the Holy Spirit is God,
the great Three in One, the same in substance, equal in
power and glory -- that means that as Creator, this great
all-powerful God has dominion over all things and all men.

The evolutionary disbelief in God is fairly recent, say under
two hundred years old. Even in the Old Testament, when
men hated God, and rebelled against him, they still knew
he existed. In the New Testament, when they hated Christ,
they believed that God did exist.

Not now though, we have a telescope, we have a micro-
scope, we are so smart, we think. Seriously? Man is all
powerful, right? Try holding your breath for ten minutes,
let me know how that one works out.

The truth is, God made the world and all things in it,
and that requires that we bow to him, and worship him,
and declare him to be a King over us. And that is the
final question, and it takes the faith of a child to believe
that.

What did Jesus say, oh yeah, I remember now: he said,
"Except ye become as little children, ye shall not enter
the kingdom of heaven."

Free Thinkers on Parade

The setup: My local newspaper is the Northwest Arkansas Times. Although it is an excellent local paper and pretty good regional paper, it is an awful paper to get state, national, and world news. The Times has a number of local writers on the opinion page, most of them leaning left. As such, I find most of these columns funny, although the large majority of them are not meant to be so.

But there is one columnist who is intentionally funny, and largely succeeds. Bob Caudle writes once a week about mostly local stories, and is pretty irreverent. Recently, he wrote a column that was pretty awesome if it is true.

I say if it is true because some of the content within it smells a bit like a put-on. I would link to the column itself, but the Times only keeps articles for free online for one week. After that one week, it will then put the article in the archives and charge a fee for you to access it. It's a stupid system, I think, but nobody consulted me on its implementation, so what I think is irrelevant.

So, I will just reproduce it here, so that I can do some real liberal mocking afterward.

Oh, brothers and sisters, there’s foul news afoot. Some bunch of blasphemous Yankees from the North (as opposed to Yankees from the South) are trying to take away our God-given rights to pray and pass out Bibles.

A group from Madison, Wis., calling itself the Freedom From Religion Foundation, has attacked the mayors in Rogers and Springdale for participating in the National Day of Prayer.

The anti-religion group also claims it forced the Rogers School District to quit letting the Gideons hand out Bibles at Bellview Elementary School.

You know, I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels with a Gideon Bible in the drawer. That family must be bigger than the Duggars.

Oh, by the way, the foundation sells T-shirts that read, “This is what an atheist looks like” that will cost you $20.

A T-shirt that reads “Village Atheist” will run you $22 - obviously they don’t charge by the letter.

They also have a spot on the website asking for donations and reminding readers the donations are tax-deductible.

Apparently, the group hates everything about churches except for passing the collection plate.

The foundation also brags about its accomplishments - and that word is used loosely - on its website: “FFRF won a historic federal court decision declaring the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional in 2010.

“In this instance, the government has taken sides on a matter that must be left to individual conscience,” wrote U.S.

District Judge Barbara Crabb, Madison, Wis. An appeals court in 2011 threw the case out on standing (not the merits), but FFRF continues to pursue two challenges of gubernatorial prayer proclamations in Colorado and Arizona.”

The King James translation of that statement is the foundation lost, but is still throwing money away.

Anyway, the foundation contacted the offices of Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse and Rogers Mayor Greg Hines about their offices sponsoring “prayer breakfasts” May 3 as part of the National Day of Prayer.

The Yankees might have a point in that officials with the two cities probably shouldn’t have promoted the event and sold tickets through the mayors’ offices.

Sprouse and Hines may never meet over a chess board, smoking pipes during a Mensa Club meeting, but they’re usually smart enough to stay within the law.

“We are shocked at the bad manners of these mayors who align themselves with events advertised as ‘Christian evangelicals need only apply.’ This kind of meddling in religion and promotion of one religion over another is what one would expect in a theocracy, not in our secular republic,” said Annie Laurie Gaylor, a foundation co-founder.

For the record, the First Amendment to the Constitution says nothing about a separation of church and state. That phrase came later in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson.

And no one is forcing anyone to participate in the National Day of Prayer.

If you don’t want to go - don’t go.

But the best response to the Yankee atheists perhaps came from Rogers city attorney Ben Lipscomb, who answered stupid with stupid.

Lipscomb replied to the foundation.

This is what he wrote to Ken Earl, the foundation’s law clerk:

“As a graduate of East St. Louis, Illinois College of Law and Sheet Metal Work, I too have heard of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

I distinctly remember class that day, because the professor not only covered the entire First Ten Amendments to the United States Constitution (I think he called them the Bill of Rights, or something like that), but low hydrogen arc welding as well.

And in my humble opinion (which, by the way is the only one that counts, being that I am the City Attorney) the City’s participation in, as well as the planning of, the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, does NOT, in fact, violate the sacred document in question.

Now, I don't care who you are, that's a great response right there. It's humorous and legally sound at the same time. And it is real, too.

So, what happened after Bob's column ran in the paper? Did you say that the tolerant atheists went ape-poopy about it? If you did, you are 100% correct!

Which leads me to this, the greatest kook posting I've ever seen.

And the answers to your next three questions are yes, yes, and yes.

Yes, this really is untouched in any way, shape, or form. If you go to the web page, you will see it just as you see it here. Yes, he is being serious. And yes, he really is this clueless and idiotic and pompous all the time.

FayettevilleFreeThinker believes that he is this font of information, and I can count on him to come through with material that I can use to mock and belittle liberals if I'm ever low on material. (By the way, have you ever noticed that so-called freethinkers always have the same beliefs as other freethinkers? Must be a coincidence.)

Now, my larger point here is that committed atheists will try anything to remove religion from what they consider to be a society that doesn't need it. You see that in Caudle's column above, in which the Freedom From Religion Foundation tried to bully into not participating in the National Day of Prayer. To the Rogers City Attorney Ben Lipscomb's credit, he told them to go soak their heads.

For a foundation that prides itself on using reason, it sure didn't use reason to sway others to their point of view. It instead tried to bully and threaten others to see their point of view.

Is there a rational position that the FFRF can advance to convince others to join them? Doesn't appear to be. Why doesn't FFRF do so? Maybe one of these jeniuses can explain that.

Egyptian Election Results in "Nightmare Scenario"

Luckily, according to Barack Obama, the Muslim Brotherhood has no support in Egypt. You know, outside of their candidate receiving the most votes for President. From the Guardian:

Egypt looks set for weeks of tension and uncertainty after the first round of its landmark presidential election produced a runoff between the candidate backed by the powerful Muslim Brotherhood and a former general who is seen as a hangover from the regime of the deposed Hosni Mubarak.

In what many described as a "nightmare scenario" that will mean a polarised and possibly violent second round, Mohammed Morsi of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party polled around 26% in the two-day first round. Ahmed Shafiq, Mubarak's last prime minister, came second with 23% when 90% of the votes had been counted.

Amr Moussa, the former head of the Arab League, who tried to capture the centre ground, was knocked out. Late on Friday there was only a slight chance that the final picture would change when votes for Cairo and Giza were in.

Turnout was said to be around 40% of the 51m-strong electorate. Official results are yet to be published but a combination of exit polls, centrally collected data and reporting by the candidates appeared to confirm a dramatic runoff that many supporters of the revolution consider a catastrophic outcome. "It feels as if the revolution never took place," lamented a despondent George Ishaq, a founder of the leftwing Kifaya Party.

The No Growth Zero Sum Pie

reached the stage where we all stand in a circle and take turns holding a constantly shrinking dollar?

If our Dear Leader and the Daley led Outfit wins re-election next year perhaps a few more people will see the hand writing on the wall. Though the Constitution is undeniably the greatest work to come from the hand of man, though it provided the safe haven of freedom for generations it is today a dead letter. If after the coming November election the Democrats tax storm sweeps us down the economic drain and inflation kicks in those dazed by the success of the Chicago system in re-electing the first anti-American president then the silent majority will be ready to hear the watchmen on the walls.

We have sold our birthright for a bowl of entitlements. We have stood silently by while corrupt politicians have looted our posterity of opportunity and hope. We have allowed our Federal Government to assume powers never delegated to them by the Constitution. We have spent the revenues of the future for a present that no longer resembles the last best hope of mankind. We have followed the pipers from the Land of the free and the home of the brave onto the road to serfdom and we are about to learn that he who pays the piper calls the tune.

While our nation wallows in the Great Recession which our Progressive leaders and their water boys in the Corporations Once Known as the Mainstream Media keep trying to tell us is over

keeps eating our lunch. Starting with NAFTA both Democrats and Republicans have agreed to free trade deals that aren’t free and have suppressed our trade. For these economic geniuses who think they can centrally plan the largest economy in the history of the world let me spell this out slowly and clearly:

· If you buy more than you sell you have a negative balance of trade

· If you spend more than you make you eventually go bankrupt

AND…..

· Everyone else except you seems to know these two simple truths.

Maybe our economic geniuses should try Economics 101. They want us to accept that America has become a no growth zero sum pie. It doesn’t fit their game plan to take their foot off the throat of the economy. If they did it would roar to life as the liberty and opportunity which is our heritage, and once again prove that free people making free choices is the best way to grow the pie and enrich the people.

A new book calls President Obama an amateur, and at first glance he may appear to be one. However he does not stand alone. He is the front man for a triumphant Progressive Movement which has successfully implemented a strategy that has taken more than a century to mature. Starting in the 1890s they set their sights on education capturing the universities and then training generations of teachers, journalists, and lawyers. These people have infiltrated every aspect of our lives dumbing down successive generations while Progressive politicians have worked at getting a majority of the voters addicted to government handouts. Then in the1960s the Cloward and Piven Strategy was embraced as a way to spend the country into oblivion so that it could be remade in a Progressive image. Step by step, inch by inch, line upon line these webs have been woven, and as the average American twists and turns trying to find some avenue of escape from the shabby future these want to be commissars have planned, all they see is the party line on the major networks telling them everything is coming up roses.

It is time to WAKE UP! It is time to prepare as if the world we have known will end and expect major dislocations in every aspect of life. Even an overwhelming defeat for President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the rest of their fellow travelers will only mean this train wreck is slowing down. The so-called draconian Ryan Budget never gets to a balanced budget for 40 or 50 years. More than 30 years out the national debt is still growing. Projections show that by 2025 the interest on the debt alone will begin to consume any hope of getting out of the trick bag they have spent us in to. Our elected leaders have no plan to reverse the decline. They merely want to manage it in a more orderly fashion.

Each of us must decide what is most important. Each of us must either prepare for the coming contraction or hit the wall like a crash dummy.

Personally I have decided that family is more important than career, food is more important than convenience, and honor is more important than status. I have left the tenured halls and headed for the hills. I have abandoned friends of many years to be surrounded by family. I have embraced the soil to grow my own food. In other words, I believe I have been to the top of the mountain, I have seen what is coming, and I have taken my own advice.

When I was the Dean of a School of Christian Ministries I used to tell my students to prepare as if there was no Holy Spirit and preach as if there were no notes. Today I advise my readers, prepare as if the America we have known and loved is about to be transformed before our eyes into a social democracy of European proportions, and live as if there is still hope.

For as long as we believe there is still hope we will not be hopeless.

So we come to the ultimate message: hope in Christ and you will never be disappointed. All things must pass and only those things done in Christ will last. All empires fall. It is our place in History to watch the slow motion fall of a mighty empire: Western Civilization. But if we hold on to what is true, if we stand for what we believe, though a thousand fall on our right and ten thousand fall on our left it will not come upon us.

Revealed: Obama Thanked Drug Dealer, not Mother, in High School Yearbook

It has been well known for years that President Obama was an avid user of cocaine and marijuana in both his high school and college years. However, the rabbit hole appears to be much deeper than previously thought.

Over the last few days, Mr. Obama's "rules" for taking drugs has been widely publicized. The fact that President Obama took so many drugs that he needed specific guidelines should speak for itself.

Additionally, and possibly most shocking, we have learned that in his high school year book, Mr. Obama thanked his drug dealer by name. One person that he failed to even acknowledge? His mother.

The dealer's name was Ray. You can see a picture of the high school yearbook below:

So what happened to Ray, you might ask. Why has he not spoken up about this incident? Well, "Many years later they learned that he had been killed with a ball-peen hammer by a scorned gay lover."

Edwards Jury Breaks for Weekend after Report of Alternate Juror Flirting with Defendant

The sixth day of jury deliberations in the John Edwards trial ended Friday with the judge dealing with an issue concerning a juror.

U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Eagles told the jurors to return Tuesday morning, after the long holiday weekend, when the Eagles will resume a discussion with the attorneys about "a matter with the jury."

She did not disclose details, but there is speculation it might involve exchanges of glances between an alternate juror and Edwards. ABC News reported that a female alternate juror appeared to be flirting with Edwards, smiling at and making eye contact with the former senator and failed presidential candidate.

Poll: Scott Walker Lead Explodes to 12%

It may soon be Armageddon for union thugs in Wisconsin, as a poll released today shows that Incumbent Republican Scott Walker now leads his opponent Tom Barrett by a whopping 12%. It was only a few months ago that Walker and Barrett were tied in polls; now, as the recall election is just a week and a half away, Walker's lead continues to grow.

Over 1,400 likely voters were asked this week who they would vote for in the coming election. A majority of respondents favored Walker, with 54%. A scant 42% favored Barrett.

Mr. Walker is favored by women with a 51-44% margin and men by a 57-39% margin. Additionally, in non-public union households, Mr. Walker holds a commanding 55-40% lead. The only category in the poll that favors Mr. Barrett is public union households, where he holds a 50-47% lead.

Unlike many polls that have Barrett closer to Walker, We Ask America's poll was specific with their questions. The questions were:

Do you plan to vote in the June 5th election? (Negative responses were dropped)
If the election were held today, for whom would you vote? (Barrett/Walker options rotated)
Gender?
Age?
Are you or any member of your household a member of a public employee union household?

Now, with Walker in a commanding lead, the only thing that can conceivably derail his re-election is voter turn out, voter intimidation, or fraud. We shall see.

Amnesty International: Osama bin Laden Raid was Illegal

Because I'm sure that Americans really care about what Amnesty International has to say. From The Telegraph:

"The US administration made clear that the operation had been conducted under the US's theory of a global armed conflict between the US and al-Qaeda in which the US does not recognise the applicability of international human rights law," the human rights group said in its annual report.

"In the absence of further clarification from the US authorities, the killing of Osama bin Laden would appear to have been unlawful," it said.

Amnesty said a request for clarification over an apparent US drone strike in Yemen last September that killed US-born radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaqi, his al-Qaeda co-conspirator Samir Khan and at least two others had also gone unanswered.

"These killings appeared to have amounted to extrajudicial executions," the group said.

Obama: 'I'm Not an Over-Spender'

I am sometimes astounded either how stupid this man is or how stupid he believes we all are. From ABC via Yahoo!:

At a fundraiser for his re-election campaign in Denver tonight, President Obama set out to upend conventional Republican wisdom that his administration has been defined by excessive government spending.

"I'm running to pay down our debt in a way that's balanced and responsible. After inheriting a $1 trillion deficit, I signed $2 trillion of spending cuts into law," he told a crowd of donors at the Hyatt Regency. "My opponent won't admit it, but it's starting to appear in places, like real liberal outlets, like the Wall Street Journal: Since I've been president, federal spending has risen at the lowest pace in nearly 60 years. Think about that."

...The Romney campaign noted that more than $5 trillion has been added to the debt during Obama's first term, though in 2008 Obama called the $4 trillion added under Bush "unpatriotic."

The Republican National Committee pointed out that while growth of spending and debt may have slowed, Obama has overseen the three largest deficits in U.S. history. (They also pass along fact-checker Politifact's 2011 designation of Obama as the "undisputed debt king" of the last five presidents.)

DOW Plummets Over Renewed Debt Fears

Possible Attack Foiled in Buenos Aires Against Fmr. Colombian President Uribe

Coming in off the ticker at the BBC. A possible assassination plot against former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe was foiled as a lamp packed with explosives was confiscated by Argentine authorities.

This comes as an Argentine theatre was evacuated ahead of his visit.

Police sources told Ambito.com that the package was found by the cleaning staff who immediately contacted the emergency services.
"We are trying to verify if it is in fact an explosive device. In that case, it will be destroyed on site," police sources said.

It is not clear if the two are related.

Earth to Barry -- You Are Going to Lose

There are some people in life who just don't get it. This phenom
is best seen in say, a brother in law who thinks he knows every-
thing; a facebook billionaire who used to know everything; and
an Indonesian peasant masquerading as an American president
who knows he knows everything. (silahkan lulus anjing)

The ability to know certain things does require some realism and
a dose of humility, the only two neighborhoods which Barry and
fam apparently did not inhabit. But if your imagination goes as
far as thinking you are the baddest burro in the entire world, then
you can make up your own reality. Problem is, convincing the
rest of the world of your reality. You know, like when you were
a kid in Jakarta and you had your imaginary friends, Guntar and
Chahaya. Having them as close friends was probably comforting
when you were alone with presidential aspirations, but you sure
were't able to convince the rest of the Soetoros that they were real.

That you are going to lose and lose huge is just about sure and
certain. The Dems even believe that. So here's the deal see--
since you are going to lose, and lose overwhelmingly, why not
just stop all the pettifogging, red herringing and pompous lying?

Howsabout you cease and desist with all the nonsense coming from

Why not make nice, and start a new fad in Washington --tell
the truth?

situation this November.  Someone is going to have to like you

the nebulous speeches someone will have to write for you.
BTW -- you won't be having Kobe steak, braised aspargus and
sherry sauteed mushrooms on the circuit. How about you get
used to rubber chicken, limp green beans and potatoes from
out the box? You like day old Maxwell House, warm?

What are you going to tell them? "I never told a lie?"  That one
has been used and abused for two hundred years now, and it
was first told by a guy born here, not far from your rental, in
Virginia.   You could say, "I regret that I have but two lives
to give to my countries," nah, won't work, won't play in Peoria.
How about, "Give me liberty, or my speaking fee?"

In short Barry, if you don't stop with the lies, the pathetic
campaign ads, the temper tantrums, the public displays of
bombastic arrogance, you will have the entire country against
you, come November.

Earth to Barry -- get real. Man up.  Get in the game. Make
nice to the people who gave you the political ride of ten
lifetimes. Start working on a polite exit strategy, and quick,
or you're going to end up working at Wal-Mart, or worse, as
a community organizer in the Menteng Dalan, Tebet, South
Jakarta.

Poll: 16% of Americans Say They Are Better off Since Obama Took Office; Nearly Double Say "Worse"

In an unsurprising turn of events, a new poll released today shows that a mere 16% of American believe that are better off under the Presidency of Barack Obama than they were before it. The poll, performed by ABC News and the Washington Post, focused mainly on the economy.

Nearly twice as many people, 30%, said that they were worse off under the President. A slight majority, 53%, stated that they were "about the same" as before January 2009. The difference between the numbers is a clear demonstration of why the majority of Americans disapprove of the way Mr. Obama has handled the economy by a 55-42% margin; progress and economic advancement, two American trademarks, are missing during the Obama Presidency.

The poll also asked voters to speculate over whether a Romney Presidency would have resulted in a better economic situation. Nineteen percent of voters, or three percent more than Mr. Obama, thought they would be doing better. Twenty-two percent, or eight percent less than Mr. Obama, believed that they would be doing worse. A plurality of 48% stated that they would probably be doing about the same.

Despite these findings, however, the poll reports that a plurality of Americans still prefer an Obama Presidency over a Romney Presidency. 49% of people in the poll stated that they would vote for Barack Obama if the general election were held today while 46% reported that they would vote for Mitt Romney.

However, 78% of those who consider themselves worse off since Obama took office would vote for Mitt Romney. 78% of voters, according to the poll, who are better off since Obama took office would vote to reelect him.

Near the end of the poll, in detailing other questions asked to participants, 56% of respondents also stated that, when compared to regulation, the United States' economic system "favors the wealthy" and is "unfair." Only 34% of those in the poll, a 22% difference, believed over-regulation was a bigger problem than income and distribution inequality.

A plurality of respondents, 47%, believe that Mr. Obama represents their personal values better than Mr. Romney. Whether these two questions mentioned skews the results of the poll is up to you.

Boeing 767 Diverted to Maine Because of In-Flight 'Security Issue'

A US Airways jetliner flying from Paris to Charlotte, N.C., has been diverted to Maine because of what an airline spokesman describes as a "security issue."

A person briefed on the incident said a passenger announced she had a surgically implanted device. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because it involved sensitive law enforcement information.

US Airways spokesman Andrew Christie says the Boeing 767 with 179 passengers and nine crew members landed at noon Tuesday at Bangor International Airport.

A North American Aerospace Defense Command spokesman says two F-15 fighters were scrambled to escort the plane.

Did White House Doctor Photo of President "Throwing" Football?

I'm not one for conspiracy theories. I prefer to base my opinions on demonstration fact that I can point to. However, after looking at an extremely odd photo of President Obama "throwing" a football, I have my doubts that this photo is real.

First things first, however. I found this picture from the White House's official twitter source. Here's a screenshot of the tweet:

At a quick glance, the picture seems real:

However, on closer inspection , some very odd things pop up. If you go to the linked picture, in which the photo is notably larger, peculiar things become obvious. In particular, the President's enlarged eyes in the photo and the pixels that surround his head and arms, but are not present in any other part of the picture. Zoomed in, this is what it looks like:

Note the pixelation that occurs around the entirety of the President's head. Such deterioration does not exist anywhere else (at least so obviously) in the photo. Also note Mr. Obama's oddly large eyes. Additionally, President Obama is inexplicably looking upward, unless his target is sitting somewhere in the cheap seats 100 yards away.

On top of it all, this throwing motion does not match Mr. Obama's previous photo ops. Compare the new picture's motion with this one of Mr. Obama throwing a baseball (click for better resolution):

You should notice several things right off the bat. The picture on the left is less heavily pixelated. More importantly, however, with the picture on the left, Mr. Obama's left arm has decidedly more bend in it, his right arm is lowered, and his shoulders are more squared.

So, is this picture doctored? It's up to you to decide. However, the fact that the White House may have altered a picture of the President throwing a football speaks to how desperate they are to perfectly manicure his public image.

And on the bright side, even if this isn't photoshopped, the photographer did a terrible job making the President look athletic. Oh, and our Commander in Chief is taking official photos of him throwing a football poorly as our debt nears $16,000,000,000,000.

Update: An intrepid commenter posted a link to a better quality image of Mr. Obama throwing the football. It proves that the photo was probably not doctored, but simply staged (poorly).

Honchos at Superman's comic book home, DC Comics, said this weekend that one of their most identifiable (but as of yet unnamed) straight characters will soon be coming out of the closet, according to a report.

At the Kapow Comic Convention held last weekend in London, DC co-publisher Dan DiDio said the publisher would be reintroducing a previously existing character who would now be “one of our most prominent gay characters," the website BleedingCool.com reports.

Didio said DC's position had shifted on the subject since he said in an interview last year that any homosexual characters would be new introductions, and that none of their existing characters' sexual orientations would shift.

I'm personally hoping it's Aquaman.

Stan Van Gundy Fired

I think we all knew something like this was coming. From NBA.com:

Orlando Magic Chief Executive Officer Alex Martins announced today that Stan Van Gundy has been relieved of his duties as head coach. In addition President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Otis Smith and the organization have mutually agreed to part ways.

"On behalf of the DeVos Family, we sincerely appreciate and thank Otis and Stan for all that they have done on and off the floor for the Orlando Magic,” said Martins. "These are the days you dread in this business, but we feel it's time for new leadership and new voices.

"They both brought die-hard dedication and an unmatched work ethic on a daily basis,” added Martins. “Their success is well documented, as the Orlando Magic has had the fourth best record in the NBA over the last five years, and entering the playoffs this year the third most playoff wins over that period of time. The disappointment of getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs these past two seasons played a primary role in our decision, as we feel our momentum towards winning a championship has paused. We wish Otis and Stan all the best and we look forward to taking the next step towards winning that championship."

Van Gundy was named head coach on June 7, 2007, becoming the ninth head coach in franchise history.
