Ravi works as a Principal at Southeast Interactive Technology Funds, an early stage technology venture capital fund. He is an angel investor in startups based in India. He is a charter member of TiE Bangalore, and mentors passionate entrepreneurs. His experience includes running and growing a B2C E-commerce startup.

Before Southeast, Ravi worked as equity analyst with BanK of America Securities, where he participated in covering companies over $120B in market capitalization. He was part of the team that was ranked runners up in the Alpha Hedge Fund Research rankings.

Ravi started his career as a software engineer at Hewlett Packard and has global cross-functional experience in leading and managing technology businesses. He has worked in marketing, consulting and engineering functions at Hewlett Packard. Ravi co-authored the book Web Services Security, and was HP's representative in few web services standards.

Ravi completed his MBA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business and has a Masters in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Manish Singhal

After graduating from IIT, Kanpur, throughout his career so far, Manish has worn many hats including those of a strategist, technologist, operations & process champion, mentor and counselor.

After spending many years @ Motorola, Manish started his start-up journey. He joined Ittiam & Sling Media in their initial stages and helped build world class products & teams right from scratch.

TiE Pune presents a "My Story" session with Meher Pudumjee, CEO of Thermax

Meher Pudumjee

Her down-to-earth nature and her artistic inclinations are not what you'd usually associate with the Chairperson of a $1.1 billion engineering conglomerate . But then Meher Pudumjee is hardly the "usual" chairperson. Bright and vivacious, she is the new generation entrepreneur who doesn't believe in stereotypes either at work or in her life.

The lady who won the BS CEO of the year award for the year 2007-2008 took over as the Chairperson of Thermax limited from her legendary mother Anu Aga in 2004 and took the company to a different level.

After her graduating from Nowrosjee Wadia College, Pune, she moved to London to pursue a post graduate degree in chemical engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London. She joined Thermax in 1990 as a trainee. A year later, she and her husband Pheroze Pudumjee began managing the UK subsidiary of the company. When she came back to India after five years, she joined the board of directors of Thermax. With her head firmly on her thin shoulders when the lady took over from her mother, she slowly got back the company moving on the growth chart.

According to a McKinsey report in 2007, she had successfully gone through a major turnaround exercise which helped her in augmenting her resources.

With a dream to turn Thermax into a global provider of boilers and chillers, the lady has been constantly been chasing her vision. In fact the company under her guidance has already made its presence in South East Asia, Middle East, Africa, Russia, India, the UK and the US.

A member of the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Family Business Forum and the Young Indians (YI), Pudumjee is also a soprano and a pianist. In fact music is big passion for the lady who practices regularly and sings with a Pune-based choir, the Chamber Singers.

The GNU Compiler Collection, GCC, is now the de facto standard implementation against which other implementations are measured. One of the first implementations that are portable across a variety of software and hardware architectures, this talk uncovers the technology used behind this portability.

The heart of the GCC is the machine description system. The talk will focus on the structure and implementation of the GCC MD system at a high level. It will connect compilation concepts to an actual industry strength implementation. A good command over implementation of data structures like linked lists, trees in C, and some awareness of basic compilation techniques would be useful. Although the GCC implementation also supports a number of high level languages, we will not focus on the architecture used to achieve that. Similarly, optimization techniques and non-technical issues like standards compliance will not be a focus point. The talk will lead you along the journey of a C program through the GCC system, and expose the internals along the way.

Target Audience

Professionals, Students and Faculties with interest in GCC technology. Exposure to data structures like linked lists, trees in C, and some basic compilation techniques would be useful.

He has been a faculty at the Department of Computer Science, University of Pune, and a research scientist at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay where the work on GCC was carried out. He works at the Computational Research Laboratories Ltd. as a Senior Scientist, and teaches courses on theoretical computer science, algorithms, OS, and functional programming in his spare time.

You would agree that business performance of a Software Development (IT) Organization depends on its efficiency in management of SDLC and effectiveness in Software Project management. Through number of SD & PM tools operations are controlled but the management of business performance needs a separate integrated system of measurement & metrics providing AAA' signals to perform. The workshop focuses on setting up of EVM system with the aim to improve business performance of the organization. It is an integrated combined view of cost, budget, time, delivery and revenue. It also exposes toLogframe' presentation of the project structure as a platform for project management and to building `Score cards' to measure, monitor and control key parameters of project and that of business performance.

We are operating in Globally Integrated Digital World of Business. This world is termed as virtual world and new terms characteristics of virtual world are Virtual Work force, Virtual Enterprise and Virtual Distance. Virtual Enterprise' is spread across the globe manages business through virtual workforce housed in different locations separated primarily by physical distance, different time zones and different work schedules. The virtual workforce teams rarely see each other and but communicate through impersonal electronics communication systems. This work force separation is measured by a new definition of a distance,Virtual distance'.
