One female schnauzer, one male pharaoh hound and two female pharaoh hounds. None of the dogs have been desexed, but none of them are going to be used (again) for breeding.

I say (again) because the schnauzer and the older pharaoh hound have both been mothers. If a thousand dollars or so fell into my bank account I'd certainly take the two oldest girls

When the weather is too terrible for you to go or stay outside, don't forget your pet. Most pets can suffer too, when Nature gives us extreme weather. 

At the moment, South Australia, where I live, has a forecast of 39 degrees celsius, with rain expected in the afternoon and evening. 39 degrees celsius is 102 Fahrenheit, that's too hot for me and for my dogs! So at the moment, I'm staying

And the dogs? The dogs are all staying inside, and loving it. We have our evaporative cooler going and the dogs have water available in the house if they need it.

I hope nobody is stupid to leave any dogs inside their cars today. The

When you have a pet, you have different costs. If your

My husband, son and I went out yesterday, which was Christmas Day, and again today. We didn't give our four dogs anything special for Christmas and they certainly don't know enough to feel they've missed out on anything.


Of course, dogs have no idea about the Christian tradition, and they certainly don't shop. Our dogs did get fed, let out

Jake has become an adult in terms of age - he had his 18th birthday a week ago. He has his P plates and his own car, so he's able to go where he wants, when he

I don't either - rain and cold don't make a lovely spring day.



I'll have to let them out, or kick them out, at some stage though. The young pharaoh hounds, brother and sister Lah Dee and Missy are asleep on the dog sofa, their mother is asleep in her crate in the other end of the house and schnauzer Nena is asleep in her crate.

Well, that's not actually true, the dogs wouldn't be happy with me if I stayed in bed, because if I did that, they wouldn't be able to go out, come back in, go out again, come back in,

I can wait another five months to see it not happen again!

Some people believed in it, and I'm wondering now how they feel. Do they still believe God is going to take them soon or do they feel ripped off? I guess if you can believe in a great being way up there looking down on you, you might find it easy to believe other things, if they're presented

If you have bought a young puppy from a registered breeder, the breeder will probably give you plenty of advice on this subject. I know that's what we've always done.

The first thing to say is that our four dogs are absolute failures at what should be their prime task, which is rodent removal. We have a bit of a problem with mice inside our house at the

I asked if she was interested in standard schnauzers, and she said she was. I asked the question because I have two breeds of pedigree dogs - standard schnauzers and pharaoh hounds. I am going to continue with pharaoh hounds well into the future, but I suspect our current

One of the PH girls (Missy) is the youngest of your dogs, the other PH girl (Ananka) is mother to the two younger PHs.

It can help you feel in control of your life when things are going crazy around you.

I don't go the whole way with meditation, chanting Om, Om with my legs crossed. My personal way of meditation is to sit comfortably on a chair outside and watch birds. I live in

We have the evaporative cooler going all day most days, and the dogs are happy to be inside. 
When I go out, the cooler stays on and the dogs stay locked up inside. They like it like that. The dog's sofa only has one resident at the moment - our male pharaoh hound, Lah Dee. The two girl pharaohs, Ananka and Missy are both in season, so they are kept well away

I have this idea in the back of my head, a crazy conspiracy theory type of thing, that cats will eventually take over the world. I actually wrote a short story about this some years ago - it won first prize in a competition, which was a huge buzz for me!

Well sort of, although I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I'm talking about something that happened this morning when I was drying off after a bath. My son came to the bathroom door and told me someone was on the phone to talk to me. I quickly dried off  the last bits of water and went into the room where the telephone lives.

The weather is warm, but not too warm and there's a gentler breeze than we had yesterday.

It has taken us six months, starting with our local vet, and ending with a well know Adelaide eye specialist for dogs and cats.

I am not unhappy with the cost, it was money we had to spend, to try to cure poor Missy's eye
