Recently there was an article called How to Shop for Mineral Makeup. The article gives some basic advice on what to look for in your mineral makeup. The very base of the article is that no two mineral makeups are alike.

I would like to add that no two skin types are alike. One women may be able to wear mineral makeup containing bismuth without any reactions while her sister may end up with a very red, itchy face upon contact. Knowledge is the power and knowledge about makeup ingredients could literally save your skin. One of the most difficult things to match for any makeup is the foundation color. This is really the only part of makeup that needs to look natural. After all, it is the foundation of your makeup. All your other colors are largely chosen based on color and style preference. Here are the Affordable Mineral Makeup foundation options and the skin tones they best fit, picture first, description comes after.

#1 Foundation - Very, very light skin tones with pink undertones.

#3 Foundation - Light Skin with neutral or pink undertones. Tones down ruddiness and evens skin tone.

#5 Foundation - For skin tones in the light to medium beige range with stronger pink undertones.

#7 Foundation - Neutral shade for skin tones that fall between pink and yellow undertones.

Frugal Friday - Mineral Makeup Style!

I decided to participate in the Frugal Fridays blog carnival hosted at Simply Vicki. Yep, that is my other blog. This week is a themed week and the topic is Your All-Time Favorite Frugal Tips.

My all-time favorite frugal tip for makeup is one that I recently learned and is now saving me a lot of money. For some reason, I had no idea that you can and should be washing your makeup brushes. Yeah, I know, crazy.

Know why this is my all-time favorite FRUGAL makeup tip? Because I was under the impression that you were supposed to just replace your brushes monthly. Yeah, that gets expensive quickly. No wonder I didn't wear a lot of makeup. And no wonder I would often get breakouts from my "makeup."

So there it is, wash your makeup brushes weekly and/or rinse them daily. Let them air dry completely before putting them away. Store them in a container to keep dust and other particles from settling on them (and then being applied to your face). You can use a gentle, natural soap and warm water to get the built up makeup out of the brush. Rinse thoroughly. Enjoy your clean brushes!
