"My great-grandmother worked with her hands until they worked no more. My grandmother also worked with her hands until they worked no more. I spent a great deal of time with them. More so with my great-grandmother who was also one of the best friends I ever had. I learned that love is easily worked into every handmade item you touch. When I pick up a crochet hook, my great-grandmother's love floods my memory and thus, love is worked right in my piece."

Here is a little about the artist, in her own words "Have been making jewelry for over 30 years. Started making jewelry as a way to get through a rough time in my childhood. Made jewelry as gifts for family and friends until a jewelry shop owner took me under her wing and showed me what I didn't know. Started selling my jewelry on consignment. Once I opened my gift store, I added some home-made items; jewelry, candles, sachets. Business started to take off from there. I still enjoy making jewelry and love being able to give someone something special."

This is the item in her shop that caught my eye, Rainbow Radiance bracelet. such a beautiful, colorful and Spring-like item! I've not seen anything like it!

What an amazing Large dreamcatcher. This item reminds me of the one Jacob gave Bella in the movie Twilight! What beautiful craftsmanship went into the item, such intricate work!

Light Up The Blue- Autism Speaks- April 2nd!

April is Autism Awareness month and you can show your support by purchasing a blue light bulb from The Home Depot

That's right... The Home Depot is doing their part by supplying the blue light bulbs that you add to the exterior of your home in support for Autism Awareness! Retail price online is $1.99 each.. now that's just a small price to pay to join the millions people showing their support for Autism!

Both my husband and son have Asperger's Syndrome, (a form of Autism) so I know we will purchase more bulbs this year. I've encouraged all our family and friends to do the same.

Breaking with my own tradition of only having artists from Artfire... I wanted to do a feature on my Internet friend, so please indulge me a bit here while I show off her amazing work!

For Easter this is the perfect item. This Blue and Gold Bunny Tassel is surrounded by gold and blue tassels and he is sporting a cute ivory bow!

I just love lighthouses, so when I saw this tassel in the shop, I knew I had to feature this fantastic work! This pretty black and white striped lighthouse with green/brown/cream trim. And would make a lovely addition to any home!

Another beautiful tassel for Easter, this Sweet Nest Tassel looks large but it's really a sweet little nest (only 2 inches in diameter!) with tee-niney eggs nestled inside. Pretty blue, brown and cream fringe surround it. The tassel is 3 inches tall with an additional 6 inches of adjustable brown and white ribbon.

Artfire Artist Feature Tuesday…

Today’s feature artist is: Pam with Averilpam, On Artfire, of course!

I had the pleasure of talking with Pam and what a delight she is! A very talented artist as well!

Here is a little about Pam in her own words

"I have enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts since childhood. My mother taught me to sew with her old Singer treadle machine and I made myself mini skirts in the swinging 60s! I learned to weave over 30 years ago, and later to spin - I tried knitting but rarely managed to finish anything so now I weave on a small table loom. Jewellery making is a more recent passion for me, and my latest venture is into the amazing world of polymer clay. "

Pinterest : Who else is addicted ?

Boy, I'll tell ya, since finding Pinterest just before Thanksgiving this year... my sister and I have just become so addicted to this site!

It's amazing the recipes, craft ideas, design ideas and so on...that can be found on Pinterest!

There are days when we call each other to share what we've found. And of course we collaborate with each other on many of our same boards, so there are times I come to my computer and see an email showing me that my sister has either added another board or posted something into a board that I've created.

Now we've gotten our father into Pinterest and I've even gotten a few of my friends into Pinterest that weren't previously addicted!

So, if you would like to get addicted, or have some fun, maybe even find a great recipe... come on out to Pinterest and take a look. The only drawback is, you must be a "Member" of Pinterest to post anything. You can either request an invitation from the main page or even through their Facebook page, and you are well on your way...

Well, I want to apologise to y'all... today is obviously not Tuesday!

I've gotten my days mixed up and thought that today was just Monday. My husband started a different schedule at work and that has me mixed up on days. UGH!

Without further Ado, here is Tuesday's feature Artfire artist....

Today’s feature artist is: Leah, with Magic by Leah On Artfire, of course!

I had the pleasure of talking with Leah a little bit and what a fascinating woman she is!! I'll let Leah tell you a little bit about herself in her own words:

"I am often accused of living in my own little world (fantasy world) I don't deny it, in fact I am proud of it. Having a magical retreat is a good way to deal with the events that pop up in life making it easier to accept rather than stress over the little things. Crafting, especially sculpting in polymer clay allows me to bring my fantasy to your reality. I joined the Navy reserves while in college and have earned a biology and chemistry degree while serving my country on weekends"

Among some of the other things Leah likes to create are ; Handmade sculptures of fairies, elves, babies, animals.. Take a look --->

Isn't this little guy just adorable? This Pink Sock Monkey Miniature is hand sculpted and holding a red rose (also hand sculpted) ready to go to the object of your love, for Valentine's Day!

This Sleeping Tiny Fairy Baby is hand sculpted from Polymer clay and is just amazing! I can't believe how tiny this miniature is and with such wonderful detail that shows this artist has real talent!

Twilight fans will want to grab this adorable Twilight Inspired Heart Shaped Trinket Box that is also "Hand" sculpted with beautiful detail! The hands are just so delicate and dainty as they hold the apple.

Today’s feature artist is: Kendra with Dogwood Rose, On Artfire, of course!

I had the pleasure of talking with Kendra, who makes handmade soaps and eco-friendly bags.. What a beautiful bunch of soaps this talented artist makes! I didn't know where to look first, there is so much "eye candy" when it comes to soaps with me!

In Kendra's own words "Since my first batch of soap a number of years ago I have been discovering some of the many ways to make beautiful, good-for-your-skin soaps. I have sold my soaps at a few local craft fairs and to friends. I prefer to use all natural vegetable oils and butters, essential oils, and colourants in my soaps. Recently I decided to broaden my offerings from soap to include bags of several types. It has been fun finding cute fabrics and patterns to sew. Bags are so versatile and useful for just about everything. I use a variety of materials (mostly cottons) in my bags, some fabrics are brand-new while others are repurposed - check the descriptions."

Now lets take a look into the world of soap making, shall we?

Let me first tell you about this beautiful Orange Spice handmade soap and what lovely swirls it has all through out! Just looking at this photo, I'm wishing that I had a scratch and sniff computer! The artist tells us that this soap "features the light citrus notes of sweet orange essential oil and the deeper, long lasting spiciness of clove bud essential oil. It is enriched with Sweet Almond Oil for its wonderful skin softening properties."

Now I would love to take a nice long bath with this lovely Sweet Lavender soap, I'm sure that it smells just as nice as it looks! The bar is a purple gray color and it has a rich purple frosted top. This soap is scented with lavender essential oil and also cedarwood essential oil.

Lets not forget this Large bucket purse with birds and flowers, beautiful bags that Kendra creates, you just need to go and show them off! WOW, this is so pretty with the summer colors and birds singing!

How cute is this Cherry Blossom coin purse with a Sakura wood button!? This little coin purse is 100% cotton and is the perfect accessory for an outing to the mall when you don't want to lug around your large purse! The artist tells us about the button, " The wood button on the front is reclaimed from a fallen tree branch (look closely to see the bark around the edges)."

Just a fantastic item to add to any wardrobe!

With Valentine's Day approaching, this quilted beauty is the perfect wall hanging or table top decoration, a lovely and intricate details. This must have taken a long time to create!

Artfire Artist Feature Tuesday…

Today’s feature artist is: Elaine with Zoomgraphik on Artfire, of course!

I had the pleasure of talking with Elaine, well let me back up a bit.. I've known Elaine for about a year now, blog talk and what not. Then I spotted Elaine in the same guild I belong to. Let me tell ya, this is one fantastic woman! Great artist too!

Elaine likes to create with Sterling silver, Copper, Brass and wire... to name a few.

In Elaine's own words "I am a multidisciplinary artist, working with all kinds of beads and gems. In addition, I design teddy bears, paint, create illustrations on the computer, and take pictures. I have always dabbled in some kind of craft for the last 20 years or so. Making jewelery has always been a hobby of mine, so I turned one of my passions into designing unique jewelery that others could enjoy."

Lets start off with this stunning coin bracelet, complete with a beautiful Jade bead.

It is so amazing that one can take an ordinary coin that most of us don't even "pay" a second thought to, and turn it into such beauty!

This fabulous OOAK (One Of A Kind) Fossil dyed stone, two strand bracelet is made up of such fun Summer colors that remind the artist of "Hard Rock Candy". This is such a fun and eye catching piece of work, I've not seen anything like it!

As soon as I saw this beautiful "Orange Heart-Bracelet" I knew that this was going into this post! I just love the colors, they remind me of a beautiful crisp Autumn day when the leaves on the trees are just starting to turn color from green!

Not your typical Red Valentine heart, such a bold statement with timeless beauty!

Now lets not forget the "Graphik" part of Zoomgraphik with this Original illustrated Holiday card featuring a girl and her snowman friend, called "Snowman and Me". The inside is blank so you can write anything you want, and of course, the Zoomgraphik logo is on the back, to show that it is truly an original work of art!
