new scarf yarn

Yesterday I ended the post with this teaser...

A pic of all the beautiful colors and hanks of this great new yarn. It is called Passion Nette by Plymouth yarn and unlike most of these novelty scarf yarns it isn't 100% acrylic. It is consists of 68% cotton and 32% acrylic. It really gives it a interesting feel to the yarn and more texture then most. Not to mention the colorways are amazing my fav. is the mermaid looking color. Well I sat down last night and knit up the sample for you guys and here it is..

Here I am modeling it. One skein makes a decent scarf. Very simple knitting you just spread the thread and co 8 (by picking up 8 loops along the edge) then knit 8 back and forth for the entire scarf.

I took a up close picture so you can see the great texture and color.

This yarn is for sure a great departure from the typical scarf yarn for those who like a bit more of a natural feel to their yarn. I would compare the texture and feel of it to malabrigo lace. Go in and give it a look for your self.

Here are the new arrivals we have to share with you this week. First off we have Gina which is Worsted: 100% Wool and comes in balls of 109 yards.

This is pattern #2351 entrelac shrug. It is a great little shrug from the front and from back..

It has this beautiful entrelac detail. A fun and color full knit.

We also got in some great new tweeds in the encore line.

And it also has a great new pattern and sample in shop too.

This is patter 2351 striped jacket. :) There are some other new goodies, and things to share but they will have to wait for tomorrow, because I am working the sample up for you guys my self tonight :) Here is a sneak peak..

It has been a while, but I finally got some fun new yarns for me to share with you. This one is a great novelty yarn. It is called passion fur. It is 100% Acrylic 15 yards (14 meters). and works fabulous for trim on projects.

Here is a great frilly fun soft scarf knit out of it. I love it.

and this fun hat It is called the zhivago hat.

We got in some great hand spun by Sharon. There is some green colonial wool..

and this wonderful variegated that is 60% super wash merino 30% bamboo and 10% nylon.

The last thing I have left to share is some new colors in the Marble chunky.

Okay first off sorry I didn't get to update things in a few weeks. We had some technical difficulties...aka my laptop cord fell apart..but moving on we have some great things to share this week. Lots of new berroco one of my personal favorite yarn brands.

This is Quasar here is its stats Aran / 10 ply (8 wpi)175 yards (160 meters) 100% Wool.

It has some great colors and is sort and fun. The sample cowl here is Seyfert a free berroco pattern.

This is Lodge. It is Bulky: 47% Nylon, 47% Wool, 6% Rayo. It carries 98 yards (90 meters) per ball.

This book has lots of great patterns for this yarn.

We got in elements which is a great metallic yarn. It is Aran: 51% Wool, 49% Nylon and each ball carries 153 yards (140 meters). We have a great in store sample which is this.

It is called Tauri and is a key hole shawl.

It comes from berroco book #321 .

We got in some other great berroco books also I will throw up a few quick pics of those :)

I have one last this to share for the week. We have a great new sample for big time a great new yarn I shared a while back. It is the leaves shawlette by Amy Gunderson.

It is a super cute casual shawlette. Big time comes in lots of fun colors and it only takes two skeins to knit this beauty up.

New socks yarn...

Okay in the past two weeks some great fall socks yarns have came in. When I think of fall I think of my cozy hand knit socks. My hubby says wearing hand knit socks is like having that "new sock feeling" every day and I totally agree!! Another thing is socks are one of the gifts people request most from me. Every one loves that luxurious cozy feeling they give.

So me being a avid sock knitter I couldn't wait to share these with you. I was very excited for this one in particular. It is one of my all time favorite sock yarns. It is Pagewood Farms denali.. It is a great American hand paint yarn that is fun colors. It doesn't pool so it works great for patterned socks with cables or lace. They are also great for shawls.

This is another great socks yarn that came in and is going to be lots of fun to work with..

It is footrpint Blue Ridge yarns. It comes with two skeins one larger for the body of the sock and a smaller contrasting color for the heel and toe.

There are lots of fun colors. There is even the patriotic red white and blue. Here is a great example of how this yarn knits up..

I love all the different combos..

Since it is time for everyone to start thinking of some great gift ideas I thought I would come up with some great one skein wonder quick knit gifts ideas for you guys.

One great idea is the welted fingerless mitts but church mouse designs

You can knit these adorable mitts up from one skein of sublime cashmerino silk dk which is 12.95. You can't beat a pair of cashmere gloves for that price and the pattern is easily adjustable and they knit up super fast and are adorable.

another great option is wink by berrocco. It is knit out of link. It knits up in no time flat.

It is a fun colorful chunky scarf.

This is ric rack another great yarn that takes one skein for a gift this one is roughly 17$ and knits or crochets yup in less then a hour into this.

new arrivals araucania

Okay it is that time of the week where I share and highlight some new fun yarns that have been showing up. This week there was lots of new yarns that came in from Araucania. Some of these have some great pattern books and some are SO new there isn't even very many finished products out there I can grab samples of but they are too gorgeous not to share so here we go..

Huasco is a Fingering yarn made of 100% Merino 450 yards (411 meters)

It is a variegated yarn with lots of vibrant beautiful colors

Nuble is 240 yards (219 meters) a skien it is fingering weight. Nuble is made of 75% Merino 25% Silk This one is fresh and there isn't much out there made of it but is is super soft amazing and would be fabulous for a scarf or shawl.

Hasa comes 87 yards (80 meters) to a skein and is made from 50% Alpaca 40% Wool 10% Silk

There is a great pattern book available especially for this yarn full of beautiful fun knits.

andalian is another brand new yarn this season and it comes 89 yards (81 meters) to a skein. It is Worsted weight and made of 92% Wool, 5% Metallic, 3% Nylon. It has a great sparkle and is comes in great vibrant colors.

ushya is Super Bulk made of 98% Merino, 2% Nylon 114 yards (104 meters)

It is solid colored unlike some of the more vibrant variegated yarns and is mega big and mega soft.

It has a pattern book available also and is used in the comfy cozy spiral cowl pattern by Janna Milbradt. It is a great quick knit for gifts. Perfect to keep cozy this time of year :) It is available in store and here. Or in the etsy shop here

Tepa is a Bulky yarn made of 70% Wool, 20% Mohair, 10% Silk each skein has 143 yards (131 meters) This is another yarn that has a book full of patterns. It is variegated super soft and lots of fun.

New yarns and pattern ideas.

Time for more new yarns. Here is Bamboo Bloom Handpaints. It is Bulky: 48% Rayon, 44% Wool, 8% Acrylic.

It is a fun quick knitting bulky yarn. It will make a fun accessories.

There is a great aray of shades to choose from.

One great choice for a pattern with this yarn is this great cowl. The pattern can is free and can be found here.

Here is another new yarn classic shades big time. It is a super bulky yarn that is Super Bulky: 70% Acrylic, 30% Wool

This yarn is soo new that there isn't much out there on it but one great choice is the drop stitch cowl .

It knits up in no time what so ever and would would be so soft and warm and cozy this winter and fall. :)

The next thing isn't new but it is great. It is the shawl kit using jojoland melody.

It show cases this great color full yarn very well.

It is knit entrelac style and comes in a complete kit like so.

It is a great pattern for learning the new skill or just a fun knit in general. If you have questions on learning entrelac then you can always book a class in shop to get you started. They are 10$ per hour and they can help you get going on a new skill from learning to knit or getting the hang of a new skill like entrelac or fairisle. :).

it is 210 yards and is 65% nylon, 10% cotton, 5% acrylic, 5% metallic, 10% rayon, 5% wool. It is a fun scarf or cowl yarn A good pattern for it is the arrowhead scarf which is free.

This is blue heron yarns bulky rayon chenille

which is 100% rayon and has 250 yards. Here is a example of it knit up as a potato chip scarf another free pattern which can be found here

Alp natural by feza

It is made of Worsted: 40% Other, 40% Cotton, 10% Silk, 10% Linen and comes in 231 yards (211 meters) per skein.

Here is Blue Heron Yarns Rayon Metallic and Worsted: 88% Rayon, 12% Metallic the yardage is 550 yards (503 meters)

I have some fun new things that have come in to share with you guy!! These fun new yarns came just in time for people to get knitting their holidays gifts. I know its only September, but it always sneaks up on you especially when you are giving the gift of hand made!! There are some great quick gift yarns.

Here is Ric Rac. This is a great yarn 47% Wool, 37% Acrylic, 16% Nylon.

Here is a pic of it knit up. This a great quick scarf. The pattern is free and the knit version is found here.

There is a crochet version also found here .

Here is malizia. It is Super Bulky: 30% Merino, 25% Acrylic, 25% Nylon, 15% Mohair. It will be super soft and fluffy and knits fast.

Here is a knit version of that.

This is a while wall of novelty scarf yarn.

And among it is the sports fan series in some of your favorite team colors.

This is what these look like knit up. They knit up looking very impressive but they are very easy!! You only knit and the yarn does all the work making it look like lace.

So I wanted to take a quick moment and share a secret with you guys ...Purple Iris is doing a soft open this week. They really pushed it the last few days and I have been there for a few days helping around the new shop and it is fabulous! I can't wait for you all to come in and take a gander. She will be open starting Monday the 29th of august . So come in and visit.

I also thought I would share with you one of the new yarns that we just put out today. I knit up the sample last night. It is called Berocco Link.

It is big and cushy comes in great colors and ...the scarf only took me one hour to knit!!! Can't beat that.

I used size 17 needles but it calls for 50 so if you have them great but if not it does work fine with smaller and the pattern (which is super easy) is on the back of the label.

Perfect for a holiday knit idea. Sadly us crafters have to start thinking ahead around now lol. There is lots of great new things to take a look at. Hope to see you there

One thing that can make or break a project is buttons. You really want the right buttons for a project after all the work that you put into a project.

Mrs Janna has a ton of buttons in all shape, sizes, andcolors.

The nice thing too is you buy just the amount that you need for your project instead of paying for a whole pack.

There are different textures, wood plastic, bone, silver....
circles, triangles, rectangles, ovals it goes on and on...

I thought I would show you a few of my favorites.

I love love LOVE these little hedge hogs. I don't know why I just do. :)

The textures of these are very different and cool.

I finally got a moment to sit down and show you guys some more of the new goodies Mrs Janna has got into the shop.

Here are the new 9'' circulars great for sleeves. They are clover bamboos in all different sizes :)

She also got in a bunch of new colorful Laurel Burch things. Like some socks,

bags of all different shapes and sizes,

with cats,

and dogs,

wither you need a little bag for your knitting doo-dads,

or a purse big enough to fit your full project as well as your other necessities,

they are there for sure,

in lots of fun colors and patterns. And of coarse she has other bags in other shapes and sizes for what ever the need :) So swing in and check it out. Have a great memorial day and drive careful:)

Knit in Public Day/ new goodies.

So I have been busy and lots of great new things have been coming into the shop that I have got to show, but first things is first. We have a great event coming up. Saturday June 4th is knit in public day. Janna will be hosting out front of the shop from 10-4 Bring chairs, umbrellas, and any project you feel like working on. :) Newbies are welcome too. C.offee and water will be provided and if weather is rough we will be inside :). So please come on out and have a good time with us and enjoy a great day.

Now on to the updates. Janna got in some new books one great one is Grammy's favorite knits for baby. There is tons of great stuff in there. Super cute for those of you who have any expecting moms in your life. They work great for all the new baby yarns I posted earlier too :)

Here is one of the favorite projects that Janna knit up for a store sample. Great little cupcake hat. :)

Anther great new thing she got in which will be perfect for traveling during summer vacations is the knit kit.

It has every little knitting accessory you might need like scissors, end protectors, stitch markers, darning needles, and then..

On the other side there is a crochet hook (for all those pesky dropped stitches) , a row counter , thread cutter, and a tape measure. :)

All in a great little portable kit:) Well I have tons of other things to share but I will have to spread them out :) Keep checking in to get all the updates and you never know we might throw another drawing out there so make sure that you click the button to follow the blog and "like" us on facebook .

With mothers day lingering on the horizon we figured for all the poor mamas out there that will be getting gym equipment, power tools or some other unsolicited present you have no interest in, we thought we would do a drawing.

We figured this cute funny little read would be a great treat for any mother. So whether you are a knitter, crocheter, or neither you will enjoy it. Here are the rules. Dreamland

Another of the new yarns that Janna got in lately is Dreamland. It is a great baby yarn and it comes in both textured (fancy) and plain.

The textured is 97%bulk and 3% acrylic and the plied version is 70% nylon 30% acrylic, so machine washable for all the little whoops things that happen with little ones.
Also it is super soft and non itchy. It textured has 84 yards and the plied is 125 yards.

its worsted weight and comes in great colors too. I took a peek on ravelry and found some super great projects made out of it I thought I would share.

Pamcamas made this great little vest (pattern: baby hooded vest)

it is both textured and plied and I happen to know that Janna has this pattern in the shop.

Karinamaza made this great little christening hat out of the plied.

It is too cute with the little cables. It also has some other matching pieces too if you look it up.

and this last ones size didn't quiet come out lol but Tangelday made these darling baby socks out of the plied.

There are tons of other cute things these could be used for :) So if you are expecting a new little one you know where to look. There is nothing better to get when you are expecting then a cute little hand knit something and baby clothes are such a fun way to try your hand at garments for new knitters and a fun instant gratification project for experienced knitters. Everyone loves baby's ;)

Ravelry tips.

So I know allot of you guys aren't huge Ravelers. Well I am going to tell you reasons why I love Ravelry.com and how it can help improve your knitting. There are great things you can use ravelry for and I thought I would share them with you.

1.I personally never knit a garment with out going to Ravelry first and browsing that pattern to see if it looks good on people who are shaped like me and what it looks like in different yarns and what changes people have made.

2. I get great ideas for new projects I would never see other wise.

3. I have all my needles and books cataloged so I know what I own.

4. You can see all your friends newest projects and check out their blogs.

5. you can figure out what to do with those random skeins of yarns that you bought with out knowing what to do with them.

6. Show off your great projects.

7. join groups for things that you love (authors designers kids caffeine your favorite yarn shop *wink wink*)you name it there is a group. You can talk all about that subject and keep up to date.

8. figure out if your pattern has a mistake or if you are crazy.

9. when you are feeling really bad go on and flip the the "ugh"s under the people tab. There is some really ugly stuff out there and no you aren't the only one who didn't check gauge and wound up with a sweater that would fit a giant.

10. swaps. You can join a swap and swap yarn and knitting things with some one from different state or county there are sock swaps pattern swaps, I have done caffeine swaps with yarn and coffee tons of fun things out there.

Go on and give it a whirl.

who needs a pretty fix?

Well I don't know about you guys but I am in to mood for some pretty stuff. After all these grey drab cold days I think we need more color like Janna's flowers at the shop. They are beautiful right now.

and this great project that CathieKnits finished. How beautiful. The pattern is Blooming Cotton Scarf. I think she did such a great job. Very fun and colorful.

It reminds me of my grandmas violets :) I love it. It looks great on her. I love seeing the great things people have made showing up in the Ravelry group and when I saw this I knew I had to share.

I thought I would also give you guys a sneak peak of what got dropped of for the shop yesterday. (shhh no one will see these until Monday you guys are the first ;) There are great charms, stitch markers, and a few key chains too.

I LOVE these and was super excited for them. who wouldn't right lol. hmmmm these would be great gifts from the easter bunny..or has anyone heard of a little day called Mothers Day?

She also made up some great little packs of stitch markers. They were hard to get good pics of but they are too cute.

Well so much for spring. We got a glimpse this week but now it is back to winter coats, hats and scarfs. Well I figured that it would be a great time to show case the new liberty wool by c.e.y. It is a beautiful self striping wool 100% wool and 122 yards with tons of great color ways.
