Feeling Young at Heart at Phil. Science Centrum

Have you ever been in an interactive and hands-on Science Museum? Well, that's the benefit you can enjoy visiting Philippine Science Centrum (PSC).

Phil. Science Centrum is located at E-Com Tower River Banks, Marikina

If you're the type of a serious and boring person, then this is not the place for you. But if you want to feel young at heart and enjoys simple yet amazing things, I would recommend you to visit this place. PSC is ideal for kids who are excited to discover and investigate everything that happens in science. From simple things, to energy, to geology and even up to astronomy. Plus, you'll get a chance to used ALL the facilities, with no additional fees. You get it right, it's really a HANDS-ON tour.

You think this cost too much? No it's not, actually taking a half and an hour tour at Philippine Science Centrum only cost P120.00($2.8). And I've got a great deal online where I had a discount of 52%. Isn't it great? Not every science tour and educational trips cost too much.

So here's my experience at PSC...

My bf and I went at PSC last Saturday. Our reservation was at 10:00am but we were so excited that's why we arrived there at 9:00am. I know we can start the tour early but it seems that nobody is roaming around and I find it a bit boring if we were the only two to take a tour. So then we ate at Jollibee - Riverbanks Branch.

We came back at around 10:30am. I thought there will be a facilitator to guide us, but there's none. Upon giving the voucher that we availed from an online deal, the receptionist just gave us a piece of paper were our time start and time finish is written. And voila! We start our tour.

I never imagined that place was huge. There were lots of stations discussing different science wonders that kids will surely enjoy.

Of course there is a downside in every place like this. All I know that a science museum, or a centrum is a dark place, hiding lots of mysteries. But this one is not. They are using light from outside, the place has a high roof with window glasses all over the side. And another thing, I haven't got the chance to use the magic ball, the once that makes hair straight up, the one with the goosebumps.. actually it's the static ball. haha.. It's actually there but not open by the time we visit the place.

But over all I super enjoyed visiting this place. The entrance fee is super cheap as to compare with the learning the kids may gain here. And I would love to bring my nephews and my sister's cells to take a tour here.

Family day at Starmall SJDM

It’s family day! I decided to treat the whole family. Starmall San Jose Del Monte recently opened last April, I’ve never been there so I decided to go there at Father’s day. Whoa! I really can’t believe there is already a mall established in SJDM. At first I thought it was a mini-mall, it’s not. It was huge more than I expected. And it really resembles a mall, not like what Victory Town Center at Sampol area is.

By this time, there are lots of stores open, but what shocked me is the biggest CD-R King store I saw in my life. Whoa! Super big! It’s bigger than in SM Fairview, SM Megamall, and in UP Ayala Technohub. I know why the owner is getting richer and richer, because they will never switch to Point-of-System (POS), computer-generated inventory and calculating system. The owner doesn’t mind the long line of people and the inventory done by their workers. (just an info to share.. :-P )

Ooops, what’s the reason why go there? Of course to celebrate the Father’s day, even we don’t have our father… L But I know, he is happy seeing us happy. We ate at tendenenen………. Chic-boy!

It’s their first time to eat at Chic-boy, me, my 2^nd. The menu and the physical environment is like of Mang Inasal. Though it was not advertised in national television, is continuing to enlarge its number of branches all over Luzon, and you know what? Here at San Jose Del Monte, there are already 3 branches of Chic-boy (Muzon, Grotto and Starrnall). It’s really a blast!

No wonder why it’s moving that way, because they got the taste of Pinoy – RICE ALL YOU CAN. Who doesn’t like that? That’s the heart of the middle class Filipinos. And the meal? From appetizers, main dish, side dish, drinks and desserts, all are Filipino Cuisine. And what is the Filipinos trademark in eating? Of course it’s eating with barehands. Hahaha. And indeed, my Nanay do that while eating Liempo.

It is sweet, it taste like a grilled tocino, well I can say it is better than its competitor’s recipe.

And for my side dish, Inihaw na Talong with Bagoong (P 30.00). Wow! I really love the taste of Bagoong. Super yummy!

If you would ask me what food I will be ordering next time I come back to Chic-boy, it was no other than the delightful, mouth-watering Ginisang Kangkongsa Bawang (P 35.00). I never thought a Kangkong will be as special as that. Kangkong, a leafy veggie that you see in backyards, can be that fantastic and extremely delicious. I might appear like over acting but why don’t you try it, for sure you will also love it! You know what’s their secret? They sautéed it in Chicken Inasal’s oil.

In my conclusion I loved my experience at Chic-boy. It captured the taste of Pinoys so it is no wonder why they have lots of customers. This restaurant is highly recommended for those who want to have a quality meal at a cheap price.

Brunch at Army Navy & Fun Activity at Laser Maxx

There was a successful launching of website with one of our clients, and for that the PFSweb, the company were I work decided to treat the whole Demandware team: Developers, Designers and QAs. It was a brunch(breakfast and lunch) at Army Navy and a fun activity at Lazer Maxx - LazerTag Arena.

From Ortigas, we travel to Greenhills, and honestly it’s my first time to go there. We were composed of about 40+ participants, so lucky for Army Navy they were chosen for our brunch. We were served with ice tea, fries and burger.

At first I wonder why the foods are served that way: A round aluminum plate with a paper, fries in a rectangular box, no labels written; burger is wrapped with an aluminum foil; only the ice tea is I think well presented. I asked myself, why do they serve this way? It’s sort of cheap. Did our Bosses hold our budget a bit? I know they won’t bring us to a cheap resto. But hellooooooooo!!!! After wandering sometime, I paused for a moment and soon I realized that hey I am at Army Navy. Again, it’s Army Navy. Army + Navy.. Ooops… the restaurant’s theme was about soldiers! They designed their meal and food packaging based on soldiers’ way of eating. I’m such slow. Haha

On my verdict, I love their fries, which they labeled as 'freedom fries', flavored in cheese, in tiny and long strips.

Their burger was so big, with veggies and huge meat. But the taste really doesn’t get my type, but it was not bad.

The ice tea, which they called 'Libertea', was not that sweet, and its flavor is not so common, but I think it’s ok. As I’ve read, their ice tea is imported. Sossy!

Overall though they don’t get my taste it was still fine. Maybe my taste is for Filipino cuisine, theirs is of American. Most of my officemates were unable to finish eating their burgers and fries, but me, I left my plate nothing but the wrappers and papers. The meal was really suited for masculine. Not for ladies, but I am exceptional. Haha

After our tummies were filled at Army Navy we then proceed to Lazer Tag arena. We play in 3 batches because per game they can only accommodate 24 persons. I was at the first batch, we had two teams: red and green, and I belonged to the red.

Lazer tag game at Lazer Maxx only runs in a 15-minute battle. But for me, it seems like 30 minutes. That was such a breath-taking experience! It was like running and fighting for your life. You have no choice but to shoot your opponents.

At the end of the game red team won. Wohooo!!! And out of 18 participants, I ranked 9 – not bad. J

But here’s the down side, after the game my legs were shaking. I had a hard time going down stairs. It seems I might fall anytime. My arms, flank, and thighs were extremely in pain, and it lasted for 4 days! The lesson I learned: Never play Lazer Tag without warm-up, prepare your body or you might suffer the pain me and my PFSweb officemates have. Geez!

I really, really love to come back and play at Lazer Maxx - Laser Tag Arena again, and this time, with friends and family.

City Transformers at SJDM

CityTransformers is a conference headed by the 7 Bethel Churches at San Jose Del Monte (SJDM), under Philippine Assemblies of God (PAG) organization. Its main purpose it to unite all the Christian churches at SJDM whose center is Jesus Christ and to remove all the barriers that divides them. From the title itself, we want to bring out transformation in this city.

Government12 or commonly known as G12, is a movement that PAG started running for the past years. Our ultimate principles are as follow:

Vision: To win souls and make disciples

Goal: To make every believer a leader of leaders

Strategy: Win, Consolidate, Disciple, and Cell

Such great principles right? Because they are all based from God’s word (the Bible) and Jesus’ commandments. But it seemed to happen as many Pastors and Christians joined the conference. It was also participate by over a thousand Christian people.

The guest speakers are Pastor Manny and Faithy Santiago, unfortunately some of the invited speakers were unable to attend the conference, but I believe it didn’t make the event less because what the speakers preach is extremely awesome. We ended up all anointed with the Holy Spirit hovering on the whole Paulette College Inc. covered court.

This is not the end, this is just a beginning of the big movement of all Christian churches transforming the whole SJDM into Christ’s city. We will rebuild and transform this city through the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

City Transformers is an adaptation of NationTransformers held last May 21, 2012 at Cuneta Astrodome. All pastors got a free admission at the event while the regular ticket price is at P100.00 I am really looking forward for next year’s City Transformers. More souls to win and more churches to unite!

Celebration at Gringneth Restaurant

As a celebration for my younger sister's graduation day, we ate at Gringneth-Rd.1 Branch. We decided to eat there because we know that Jollibee and Mang Inasal will be jump-packed with graduates celebrating too.

And yes, I am not disappointed. Infact, I was ultimately satisfied. Nothing beats my favorite meal: Gringneth's Kare-Kare is the best.

It's like tasting a bit of heaven here on earth, indeed. Whoa! It is much more yummier, tastier and delightful than the expensive Max's Kare-Kare which cost for about P358.00.

Once you've tasted it you will feel that a peanut melts on your mouth. It's really creamy and tasty even without putting the bagoong. And speaking of their bagoong, it's not too sweet nor too salty, it really matches their Kare-kare. Tuwalya (cow's skin) is the meat used for this meal, which is so easy to slice and chew joining together with veggies. Perfect!

Gringneth Restaurant is famous in our city. It was a nipa hut-style restaurant that caters many famous and classic Filipino-style delicacies, sweets and drinks. Their specialty is the Valenciana.

Valenciana, as everyone knows is an arroz meal. It is made from malagkit (thick rice) typically dyed with yellow and with the mixture some hotdogs, liver, green peas, etc. and with soy sauce as a partner.

But it is quite different here in City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.When you ordered valenciana you will have a chicken meal with yellow rice. It would not be complete without calamansi and soysauce. Well, I don't know how they cooked this way, it doesn't matter for me as long as it tastes good. Hehe.

I love their barbeque. It was juicy and sweet. One piece of barbeque (P25.00) can already satisfy you a meal. It taste the best next to Kubo Royale's bbq.

I also ordered one of my favorite viands, Lumpiang Sariwa. It was sort of sossy because they did not used the classic lumpia wrapper sold in market. And what it contains? Some camote, carrots, and other veggies with shrimps. Fresh and healthy! Yum yum!

They used peanut as a topping. The sauce was uh! Sweet and yummy. The only problem that I have is that they serve only little amount of sauce which makes me feel bitin!

As a dessert, we ordered 2 leche plan for P120.00 each. It's good but I tasted something weird on it. Bad, I forgot to took photo of it.

Over all for 8 persons, we just spend P725.00. Not so expensive as to compare if we eat in famous restaurants and yet it can still satisfy our tummies and my cravings. Cheap price yet heavy and delightful meal!

The next time I'll be back there I'll make sure to take a photo of their menu. Gringneth Restaurant has 3 branches (as I know)in CSJDM: Rd.1, Karyapay and San Jose.

Feb-ibig Commercial Characters

This coming February 26, 2012 there will be a Youth Convergence with the Theme: FEB-IBIG. The event will be participated by all the Bethel Churches at San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. Every youth is encouraged to join in this Bethel Global Outreach (BGO) hosted event.

As part of the program, the production team comes up with making a short commercial about the topic that tackles “True love waits”. And I will show in this blog the chosen actors and actresses with their respective characters.

I was inspired by Yeng Constantino’s Fashion Style. Supposedly I’m about to wear shorts but I consider some factors and come up with wearing pants. (Playing safe) :D

She was so cute having pigtails and wearing a Kikay skirt with leggings. She looks innocent and young.

This is her natural peg that’s why we choose her to be an actress. Cool and rock!

This is a dream come true for her: To portray as a brainy student. Thanks to her glasses that made that illusion. J

I called her Madam during the shoot as she walks and carries herself like a Sossy Fashionista. The sun is so high as she wear my shades.

In reality he is the director of this commercial. Haha. He is the brain of this commercial thing!

The Nice Guy: Kuya Audie

Supposedly he is an MVP Player but since it’s kinda awkward and do not match other characters, he go turned out to be the nice guy. He was one of the pioneer actors at BGO.

The Magician: Jeff

Supposedly he will dress in KPop attire but since he did not prepared he just worn his typical outfit, the one for a magician on stage.

The Kpop in our group. His oufit did not achieve the look hence he still have this chinito eyes which saved him. Haha

Honestly this shoot was not prepared that much since we just came from celebrating our church anniversary last February 12. We were not totally dressed according to the characters assigned for us. We even only used a digital camera for the shooting but I am pretty sure that we are good actors and actresses. I believe each of us at least portrayed our role very well. And I assure you that our video editor will bring out the best in presenting our short, meaningful and cool commercial. We will not let this commercial ruined the success for the Feb-ibig event. :-p

The shooting was just short and I’m looking for more. But that doesn’t mean I am not satisfied. I super duper ultra mega enjoyed the company of the production team and selected actors and actresses. The whole shooting has lots of laughter and stories to share. I am looking forward to shoot again for another event. J

Celebrating Valentine’s Day with no Valentine

February is the month of love as we all know. All the restaurants, stores and shop, wherever you go, you will feel that the love is in the air because every place was filled with red heart shapes, cupids, and couple figures. You will also observe the increasing demand for flowers and chocolates for this season as the prices were high.

A Heart's Day Present

For those who are in a relationship, it’s their month. What’s the typical couple should do for this season? I don’t need to mention them all here. Hehe

For those who are single, some find themselves “not in” for this season. They are what we call “loners”. They find fear and felt a little bit of sadness because they have no partner. And somehow this month makes them feel jealous for those who are in a relationship.

But, there’s one thing I realized, not every couple is happy during Valentine’s day. Why? Because I have my personal experience. Haha

I never have a date in February 14, though for the past 6 years I have a boyfriend. The reason? First, he never asked me. Second, I choose to celebrate this day at home with my family, celebrating my Mother’s birthday every year. Do you think my ~~boyfriend~~ is bad? No, I’m just a fool brat because I make presumptions.

But who says love month is just for couple? I remember last year that there is someone who picked me out of my depression for this month. He was really my knight in shining armor, my crying shoulder, my savior; he is no other than our God. Yes, he helped me overcome my sadness. How did he rescued me? Simple, I absorbed last year’s preaching about love. That if we expect from a person we will surely get disappointed, hurt and depressed. But if we will expect from God, he will never disappoint and hurt us. Simply because His love is unconditional for me, and for you!

Since then I made up my mind that I should not expect from people nor demand, because I will just got hurt.

And this year, the thing that God keeps on putting in my mind and wants me to learn is that, TRUE LOVE WAITS. There is a perfect time for love. And that will be given to us once God knows that we are prepared. I am now sticking to the real definition of love, and here it goes:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in the evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1Corinthians 13:4-7

These character traits are now my standards on looking for my true love. They are now on my checklist. Because I believe there is someone out there that can complete this checklist. The man of my dreams, the man I prayed for, the only man that God gave me, my SOULMATE.

And for the mean time, I will just enjoy being SINGLE but not available. Why? Honestly, emotionally I am not ready for now. There is still part of my heart that needs to mend. And I am still in search of my soul. I am now taking time to realize, because I promise myself that once I get into a new relationship again, I have to be sure HE’S THE ONE.

P.S. This year I received chocolates and letters from my ~~boyfriend~~. He did not give this personally, a friend just drop by in our house late at night. Anyways, I thank him for this. (it's the image above.)

Pambihirang Harvest

After more than a month of preparation, the waiting has come to an end. The Bethel Global Outreach (BGO) celebrated its eleventh anniversary last February 12, 2012 with the theme Pambihirang Harvest (Exceptional Harvest).

The church decided to do the concept of a classic Fiesta (Pinoy-style feast). The whole venue was surrounded with yellow banderitas. The stage was build up with bamboos and the center stage was even designed like a façade of a bahay kubo (nipa hut).

All the church workers and performers were required to wear a farmers’ dress, whether a checkered or a long sleeve, pants folded, with a farmer’s hat. Some even worn boots. On the other hand, the usherettes have worn the national dress, the baro’t saya, Maria Clara and Filipiniana.

And not just that, the foods prepared were all kakanin: suman, puto, biko, maja, palitaw, buko pandan, and many more. Oh! This was such a delight! I love kakanin!

All the School of Leaders 1 and 2 students were required to invite three persons to be part of this event. The whole church expected to accommodate 600 people and I am proud that we are too close to achieve that.

Pastor Boy Bonus, share his life’s testimony and the Word of God. An ex-convict, a killer, an addict, a man who’s not good in the eyes of everybody stood up and shared how he encountered God and how his life totally turned up-side-down.

The production team of BGO (where I am part of), reflects about the results of our first major event this year. For us, we agreed that one of the highlights of the event was the production number by the Theosebes Dance Crew (TDC).

Kudos for the TDC! The whole month of preparation were paid-off.

On my personal experience, honestly this was my first time as a TDC member danced smiling. Because I have this great thought in my heart that whoa! I am dancing for God’s glory and I want that exceptional joy manifest in my performance. Not all were given a chance to stand in the stage and I am very overwhelmed and thankful for this opportunity.

Upon the preparation, honestly I am so tired but I am happy seeing the whole church, of different ages and gender, gathered together to prepare for this once in a year celebration for our church.

I witnessed how female parents joined me doing the banderitas, and how busy they were preparing for the food to be serve for everybody.

I witnessed how male parents do the construction of the whole stage.

I witnessed how the youths supported, prepared and practiced to give the best for the performances on the stage: The music team and the dance ministry.

I witnessed how the production team (design, multimedia, ushers) brainstormed just to come up with this exceptional theme and do the props.

I witnessed how dedicated and passionate Pastor Allan, Mamita, and the Cell Leaders were on winning the lost souls and make this event bigger and greater than the past years.

I witnessed how the whole church pray and fast for ten days in order for this event to come the way we expected and aimed it to be.

I witnessed how simple people, the members of the church, do exceptional things for church's activities.

At the end of the event, we took unlimited photos. That was a relieved!

I wonder why Kodak moments are a relieving factor that drives away all the tiredness and heaviness we have.

I know we are all busy people, in studies, work, and so many things, but all of us took time to be part of this month-long preparation. We took this not as a SACRIFICE but a PRIVILEDGE doing church works. We are all tired, but all of the efforts and expenses were all paid-off. The VICTORY is for us and the PLEASURE is for God. I was so amazed and feel very much fulfilled for the success of this event. We have on the victory. Yes, we really do.

First BGO Cosplay: Masquerade Ball

The first ever Cosplay event was held at Bethel Global Outreach with the theme: Masquerade Ball. It had more than a hundred of participants, guests and newbies from the two youth service last January 29, 2012. With their most fashionable attire, the youth participants have worn their fabulous masks: of different colors, shapes, styles, and shine.

I like the fact that the youth really prepared for this event as the ladies even put make up on their face, some curled their hair, worn dazzling accessories, borrowed and rent a cocktail dress that they can wear. On the other hand, even the gentlemen prepared for this with their cool masks, clean-cut and waxed hair, and formal attires.

A delightful presentation was also presented by Jeff: the Gospel Magician(in the middle).

Then I was given the authority to choose the top 3 ladies and gentlemen who were stunning and stand-out among the whole crowd: from their cocktail dresses and suits, to their artistic and glittering masks. And here they are:

Of course this event would not be complete without the main reason of our gathering, to worship the Lord and listen to His Word.

The Word, entitled "Integrity" simply illustrates how most Christians live a dual identity: In church you look good, but outside is the opposite. The Word aims us to realize how we can change ourselves with these 3 points:

1. Honesty

2. Dependability

3. Purity

It was the anointed Kuya Ton and Joey who delivered the Word to us.

My Personal Testimony

All my life revolves to one thing: to give satisfaction and pleasure to my parents. Yes, I always wanted to obey them, to give them honor and make them proud. I know my purpose and it is to finish studies with good grades, have a good work, and to serve them in return. And I believe this doesn’t come into a disappointment for them. I’m not a hard-headed child, I followed their ambition for me, because I love and owe them so much. I am also in love with world, all the fun, its desires and pleasures. That’s how my vision and purpose in life is all about before until…

During my vacation in first year highschool somebody invited us in a church at Lawang Pare, the old “Word of Hope”. I attended their Vacation Bible School, I enjoyed the activities there and I graduated with honor on my class. Since then I started joining their youth jam during Sundays. I participated in the tambourine ministry, dance ministry, and I even participated at a conquest (I don’t know that term before).

How active I was! And then from youth jam I started to go to the church ministry. Up to that extent I find the preaching very long and sort of boring. This is actually one of the reasons I li-lo at the church. I do not enjoy the 2-hour service, because I was a Catholic, and I am at ease with a 1-hour service and just a few minutes of homily. Another factor that scared me is the ‘baptism’. I am not prepared for that. Why should I do that? My active life at Word of Hope lasted only for 6 months, and I was 12 years old that time. So young and innocent to understand what all those things mean, and too young to stand firm on my beliefs provided that I am the only one going to that church in our family.

And then I came back to being a Catholic, and since I am confused on what should I believe in, I do not do the sign of the cross on praying anymore and I only go to church once in a blue moon, maybe five times in a year, or lesser. My life was like that for almost 7 years. I know God, I know him, we all have the same God whatever our religion is and that’s what I just believed in.

But my long time bestfriend Jeanne (we are, though it’s not obvious) invited me couple of times to attend in their church’s service. And couple of times I said ‘yes’, and couple of times I failed and disappoint her. I had lots of excuses to make just not to get there. Why? Because I had this fear. Fear that I may be coming back to the religion where I already joined in my past. But she never gave up.

One time I received a Facebook message from her inviting me to a “Pre-Encounter Party”. She said that it has a food so I don’t need to worry and it’s a party. Oh! How I loved parties. This word ‘party’ what really enticed me to join the event. But the word ‘pre-encounter’, I forgot what it’s all about, all I knew I will be joining a ‘party’ and I will meet lots of youth there.

Maybe this is also the calling for me, because during that time, I was in fourth year college, I know how hard that part of my life was and I know that I can’t survive it alone and I should hold on to the one with the supreme power, I know that I need God during those days. And things work out together.

At the Pre-encounter party, I was surprise with the praise and worship, so young and wild! With the lights like a party, music that is so lively, 2-fresh and handsome emcees and the party lights. Whoa! This is very cool. And what happened on the Pre-encounter party had a great impact on me that made me decide to join the Encounter.

I am still half-hearted that time because I know that a big part of me will change once I attend to the Encounter. But I something convicts me to go, and a part of me says, “If you won’t join that, it may affect your way to your graduation”. I feared. I just prepared my heart for all the changes that might happen to me. I will encounter God. I do not know how, but I will encounter him.

The encounter with God was really the changing point in my beliefs But honestly I did not change in an instant for 3-days. I just get to know who God is and I received Christ as my Father and Saviour. The battle outside the church is there. But I continued.

What happened to me is timely because I was already matured and not confused when I encountered God. I was also in need of Him. What’s good about Him is that He is the God of new beginnings. The seven years gap from my first year highschool to fourth year college was too long but God did not stop until He have me back to His loving arms again. He was too patient and forgiving. I also thank my best friend for not ceasing in praying until she brings me back to God.

I started to observe the change in me when I attend regularly to the youth service. From once in a blue moon going to the Catholic Church I aim to complete the 52 weeks in a year going to the Bethel Global Outreach’s Church Service. From an attendee to a member. I also learned to do my devotions, to have an active prayer life. I even got the chance to join the dance ministry and yes, I was not afraid anymore to be baptized in the water and the Holy Spirit.

Now, from a back slider, to an active servant of God.

From my purpose of obeying, giving satisfaction and honor to my parents, I am now aiming to obey, give satisfaction, praises and honor our Lord and to fulfill His will for me.

I am now the person full of hopes and dreams, and putting all the faith in God’s hand. I am now living with my life’s verse: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil 3:17)”.

From being fearful, I am now fearless.

From nowhere, I know now where I came from and where I am going. I live to love and I love to live.

From loving all the pleasures and desires of the world, now I know now my life’s real purpose and mission, and it is to devote myself to loving God, to loving people, to the community around me and doing things that gives me purpose and meaning.

My life was totally changed, but I am still in the process of being transformed. From being a baby Christian, now I’m finding ways for me to grow and mature spiritually and to serve Him in full time and effort.

To God be the glory!

My first Timex 5km Marathon

Time is running: the slogan for this year’s Timex Marathon held last Jan. 22,2012 at Bonifacio Global City. . I was there with my 7 co-employees, Boss and the other 13,000+ participants. The star-studded event was joined by the fabulous Ms. Tessa Prieto, ex-PBB housemate Will Devaughn, Berwin Meily the magician, Senator Pia Cayetano and no other than Timex’ endorser, Piolo Pascual who ran 10k for only 47.50 minutes.

Just take a look at my outfit for this event. You see I’m not really a professional runner. I not wearing a running shoes and I am wearing a maong shorts. That’s what I called: ‘Porma at tiis ganda’. But I am so grateful I now have a suitable singlet(jersey) XS size for me. It’s also a dream come true. Haha

I just joined simply for fun and bonding with my co-employees.

The marathon was divided into 16km, 10km, and 5km and km is my option. Imagine 5k…

Can you imagine I run and walk a road greater than the minimum amount paid in jeepney for P 8.00! While I’m on my journey just there I realized that I will be running that far. This was my first 5k marathon ever!

At first me and my co-employees where together until the gun signed the start of the race. I thought we will run together, waiting for each other but we ran individually. At my first kilometer I was good at running, with a bit of walking. I don’t want to be the least to finish the race so I make it a point that I have a good start. Knowing that 5m is very long I don’t need to exert so much effort on the first km, I just chill and feel the cold weather. On the next kilometer I’m almost loosing my breath so walking fast is longer than running.

Before passing 3km there was a station for water and Powerade energy drink. Thanks to that, It relieved my thirst. And what I didn’t expect is along the way I met Candice and Vesper (my workmates) who left me behind in the beginning. See? It’s not the point of origin that counts, not even the destination, it’s the journey that counts. J

Since my tummy is heavy with the water and Powerade I intake I walked for the whole 3km run and I planned to run at 4km. But another station entice me to have another shot of Powerade that’s why I wasn’t able to run again at the whole 4km. Candice and Vesper already left me since they are beating of who between them will finish the race first.

The last km was the most exciting part most especially seeing the “FINISH” spot. I made it. I made it to finish the 5km run. Yahoo!!! I finished my 5km run at 50.20 minutes. I thought I’ll be doing that in 30 minutes. Whoa! I’m so day dreamer (hehe).

Timex also gave more than (not sure) 30 pieces of Timex Watch. And it was Mark’s day because he just won a watch. Can you believe that? Out of more than 13,000 participants, his number was picked. Whoa! He is really blessed.

Of course the Company bonding won’t be complete without eating and drinking. So for our next stop: Food court at Market Market. We walked just to get there and enjoyed sight seeing.

I believe all of us enjoyed this simple bonding though we are incomplete. There will be a next time for this for sure, maybe a marathon by Northface, Adidas and many more national marathons. My Boss is also willing to join the company a marathon if there’s in Baguio City. Looking forward for more bonding! So we will drive away being serious at work once a while and gather together to join events like this. The funny thing about these kinds of events is that we pay for it for us to get tired. Haha

My Greatest Support System

This is the article I submitted on my School of Leaders 1 assignment. It was about my family, my deepest thoughts and I want to share it with you.

I was born on a simple yet complete family. I have a loving mother, a handsome father, 2 gorgeous sisters and 1 responsible brother.

We are not a perfect family. My mom is a jolly, caring, loving, responsible and supporting and as they say, she was very hospitable. She has this power to please other people (how I wish I’ve got at least a little of that, hehe). She was the type of a mother that I couldn’t ask for more. She chose to stay inside our house to take care of us rather than talking with “chismis” outside. She was the wind beneath my wings.

On the other hand, my father is sort of opposite to my mother. He was less responsible, and he got this vices: smoke and alcohol. And those vices seemed to be the barrier for a perfect family. Sometimes, I think he is immature, because he values more time and energy to his friends rather his own family. Like a typical story, my dad works and he has a lesser time for us.

In simplest thoughts, my mom is good and my dad is wicked. That’s how I look at them when I was young.

Since I was elementary and highschool I am jealous with my classmates whenever they talk about their father. Their father is sweet, a good provider, without vices. Whoa! That’s 180 degrees opposite of mine! And yes, I have never been proud of talking about him before (with emphasis).

But I am not mad at my father, because he made me who I am now. I would never be this motivated, strong and straight without him. And looking on the brighter side, I salute my father, for inheriting a good face. :D

As I matured and the people around me mature, I have learned to share what my family was. And glad there are some families who have the same situation, or even not, still their family is not a perfect one.

And then I realized, bad and good personality matches, God will not give you what you have, but will gve you what you need. I think those two differences did not made my mom and dad collide, as the saying goes, “opposite attracts”.

The lost of my father two years ago was like the worst nightmare I’ve ever had and how I wish I could wake up soon from that. Days before he died I was with him, taking care of him, offering a massage and feed him up. So at least, I thank God I served my father in the last days of his life.

That situation was an eye-opener to me. Since then I learned to value more what family means and realize that life is too short, I should not waste it and just enjoy. I have learned to give all the love that should be given to my father to my mother. I became mature enough to fix what seems to be broken family. I realized the purpose of living: to build relationships.

Glad I met another happy and healthy family from a friend of mine. I saw how bonded and sweet their family was and how I wish had the same type of family. And as a matured one, I started the change in our family. I became sweeter with my Mom and siblings. I hug them, kiss them, and send them my sweet nothings. Honestly, when I’m with them, I act and talks like a kid, such as tantrums and lambing of a kid, I do that. Because I believe that is the best way to be submitted to my family, to act like a kid, and that is really effective on my part. On my mom’s eyes, we are still the kids that

she used to feed up and care.

As of now, I, my younger sister, together with my Mom was left staying in our own house. My eldest sister and her family go here occasionally, my brother works in Manila. But the distance doesn’t separate the love that we had from each other.

I can say that my family is a good support system, most especially my mother. She is always and will always be my number 1 fan (but she’s my idol, too). I really honor my Mom; she was my shock absorber and my crying shoulder whenever I’m falling. Her faith on me was greater than what I expect.

They are really my inspiration, my priority next to God. How I would love to go home early from work to see my mom and Cheche and sleep with them in the same room. Though I and Cheche quarrels I know that she feels how I love her, how I want her to grow on the right way.

God putted me in an imperfect family so we will build this together to extract the innermost and great personality that has to bloom. There’s no other place like home.

The Auditions

The Bethel Global Outreach is looking for bright and talented members in the newest ministry established in the church, the production team. Last January 4, 2012, the Bethel Global Outreach (BGO) conducted an audition for multimedia, design, ushers and emcees. Also, the Theosebes Dance Crew (TDC) had an audition for members. The auditions were joined by many BGO members, of all ages.

Just to give you a glimpse of the roles and responsibilities of the production team, here it goes:

Design Team: The responsibility the design team is more on the physical arrangement and designs of the Church. This year, the production team plans to have different concepts every month. Not just inside the church, but for the big events such as anniversary, School of Leaders(SOL) graduation, Christmas Party, and events which will be conducted outside the church.

Multimedia Team: Video, sound and photo editing, power point presentations are the task that a multimedia member will hold into account. Every week they are in charge of a presention during the whole Sunday Service.

Ushers: They are assigned of accompanying the members and visitors of the Church to maintain the good camaraderie and ambiance. They assist, they monitor, and they entertain.

Emcees: Emcees will bring energy to the Church. Its main role is to captivate the attention of church members and add some excitement on what will happen next every service. They should have be attention drawer, the one who is energetic and with a sense of humor.

Theosebes Dance Crew: Theosebes means “Worshipper of the Living God”. TDC members need to express their love of God through dancing. They are in charge for the worship, and production numbers.

Actually, I didn’t think that the test will be a drawing. Oh my gosh! I’m not good at this field. My drawing is like of a kinder. Here’s the proof:

And yes, I did not pass for the Design Team. I did not felt bad because I know the other participants were better than me. I just gave it a try.

I also auditioned for Multimedia because I want to apply and use the skills I learned during college. The exam we had is photo editing. My concept was about “winning souls and make disciples”. I used some of the photos they provided and played with the text. And grateful, I passed the audition. Whoa! Sorry I’ve got no photos.

The audition was a success. This 2012, we are looking for a better and brighter opportunity for BGO. Through this, we believe that we will win souls and make disciples more! The production team will be the reflection of what our church is. It will be the front door of the eyes of the people so we have to exert the best effort we can. Using these God-given talents for sure we will continue to grow personally and spiritually. Level up!

Purple Madness

Purple has been with me since elementary. And when I'm in highschool there I realized that it was my favorite color, not pink nor yellow that I thought I really love. (That's how power rangers influenced me as a kid.. haha).

Since then I love to collect purple stuffs, to wear and eat anything purple. I have always been biased with purple. Whenever I see any shades of it (lavender, lilac, violet) it totally drive away my stress. It brightens my day. It has always been an apple of my eye, the subject of my affection.

And now I want to present the latest purple stuffs that I have, all I gathered only this December:

First, my card reader.

This is not actually my first choice but since it's purple, though a bit costly compare to others at CDR King, still I bought it.

Next is my hanky, care of Natasha..

Next is my watch.

I bought this purple watch as an accessory to my retro fashion on our Christmas Party. I was not able to buy big purple bangles and found these in Nova Market. This is in trend now since its strap is magnetic where you can twist and tap around your wrist with no locks needed.

Third, is my devotion notebook.

Devotion notebook is where I write my daily moment with God, reading His scriptures. I covered my notebook with purple symbolizing how important and how rich the teachings I am gaining everyday reading bunch of New Testament's chapters.

Lastly, my Globe Tattoo Broadband.

This belongs on my wishlist on our Corporate Christmas Party, thanks to Miss Maya (Our HR) for picking my no.1 item on the list. :D

Long Hair No More

Elementary . Highschool. College

For those stages of schooling I am labeled to have a long hair, not just a long hair: A healthy, black and straight hair. (I'm just stating the facts, period.. hahaha)

I have always been afraid to go out of my comfort zone. Just like with my hair, I have a haircut just once or twice in a year. And I am not used on playing with hair ties after elementary where I have my hair stylist named Rachelle. For sometime I just play with it, put some bangs, one side or kimpy, rebond and even put a highlights on it, but it's still a LONG HAIR after all.

As of now it's like a major and big decision I've ever made in my life. I cut my hair above my shoulder. Yes! It is really a shortest one!

A lot of neighbors and friends asked me why I did this, and they we're kinda disappointed and they are like regretting for me having a haircut. "Nakakapanghinayang, sayang!". I just say "It will still grow, don't worry."

Some thinks that I have a haircut because I am moving on from a heart break, just like what other girls do. Hey! No, no, I am positively and absolutely happy with my disposition now!

Bigger, Better and Brighter Christmas Tree

Christmas season would be incomplete without decors and bright lights. Filipinos tend to start decorating their houses as early as September comes.

Since I was a child I love to see big Christmas trees, with different sizes and colors, with flowers, bells and balls hanging in there, and of course, the gifts below it. And sometimes when I drop by in some houses, I asked myself, “Do I have my name written on it?”. It’s so exciting and overwhelming whenever I receive wrap gifts. But more that that, I enjoy wrapping gifts my self rather than receiving and like the saying goes, “it is better to give than to receive”. It values more than money putted in envelop, because the effort of thinking what the best gift for you is there.

This baby Shasta tree was with us every Christmas celebration. When we realized it’s small and wrap presents are bigger than it, we place it atop of our divider which makes it positioned better.

Our two feet Christmas tree has now grown up to seven feet after a decade and 7 years. Yes, that’s how long we preserved it before we replace our baby Shasta artificial tree.

Actually, we don’t replace it. It’s still there and will be there for the next years to come, but what I what this year is to put an attraction in our house. And my desire has come into reality; we place it in front of our store’s door which makes it visible to those who buy in our store and hang in our terrace.

I am so happy how they react once they see it. They find it beautiful, huge and wonderful. It makes them smile, which makes me says with humility, “thanks”. Followed by their lines, “Wow, there are gifts below; I wish I have one there”.

This is a dream come true for me. I am really happy and delighted the moment I put it up together with my sister and mother.

Putting up a Christmas tree is a part of the season’s spirit. For me, it reflects how blessed and fruitful you are for the whole year. And somehow you want to show the world how merry and prosperous it is that the Lord has abundantly spread to you.

P.S. I bought this 7-feet Christmas tree in package, including red balls, flowers, Christmas lights and the angel atop. This was sold to me at a cheaper price, exactly 50% with lots of freebies because the vendor said I was too late to buy a tree and they just want to disposed their left trees and decors. Whoa! I never thought I will have this for that amount. I learned that in Christmas shopping, it is really ideal to buy when the season comes to end, it’s better to be late than never.

Goodbye Twenteen, Hello Twenty One!

Turning at twenty one is another milestone in my life’s journey. Saying goodbye to the past 365 days made me realize that it was like a total roller coaster ride. There are many things that happened and even changed me, mold me as a person in all aspects. There were lots of twists and turns, ups and downs when I was at twenty and so grateful for all the blessings I received and some are listed below:

I came back to dancing.
I was born again.
I graduated as BS Information Technology.
I got my first job, ever!
I became a SEO Specialist.
I fell in love. Bleh! :P

Aside from this, I can say that from my experiences that year, I learned to value my family and friends so much. I became more matured in so many ways: spiritually, emotionally, a bit financially and so much socially. Relationship is what I build and continue to build.

Ok, need I say more? Let’s now move forward on how I celebrated this day.

HAPPY 21^ST BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Indeed it was a happy one. Actually, I really have no plans on celebrating this day. NO PLANS AT ALL. No celebrations, treats, due to my tight schedule. That’s why so many UNEXPECTED things happened and I enumerate them here.

It was my first time to celebrate birthday at work and I was so overwhelmed how my co-employees greeted when the clock hit at 12:00 midnight. It was so funny how our Website Developer pulled my office chair and took me out of the office, then to the elevator (he wants me to go outside) and back to the office. We are like playing and in the office (at our age?). Take note: I was not wearing my doll shoes that moment. Weird and funny, haha!

My co-SEOs surprised me as they put watta tops cupcakes and a candle in a plate. I was really touched. Truly! I was so happy realizing they exert and effort to surprise me. Thank you team!

We also had our fourth Kris Kringle, category: something really, really BIG. When we are about to open each gifts one by one, laugh was in the air all around. Who would have thought that these gifts were given: A big yellow Christmas lantern, fruit cocktails, and a blue basin wrapped in newspaper like a package delivery! Super weird yet so funny. And the winner for a P100 gift check from Starbucks is tentenene…!!! The one who gave Big Zesto and Big Crunch. Really BIG, literal. Haha

Our Company President treated us. It is unusual that our boss goes out in our office and takes a drink during our break time. And he then treated us with a drink and we’ve got to strike a pose and take some photos outside. Thanks Sir! You save me from my blow out though it’s just coincidental, haha. :D

A dinner date at Chickboy. This was really not planned. I have no plans on going to Sta. Maria, Bulacan just to eat there! Thanks to Angelito for treating me. We both love unli stuffs: load, and foods, bottomless drinks. My stomach is so full and I loosen my belt. Their Cebu Lechon Manok and Cebu Lechon Paksiw Liempo meals were so delightful. They really got the Pinoy taste. They transformed ‘turon’ into a stick to be dipped in sweet ‘yema’-like paste. The ambiance, tables, chairs, and most especially the menu is really a Filipino trademark. For the unlimited love and to the Chocolate cake, thank you Angelito!

Will my facebook friends forget me? Thank you for the overloaded greetings posted in my wall. To Theosebes Dance Crew, sorry I was not able to join the practice but thank you for understanding. And to those who remembered my day and greeted me through text, thank you so much. I was like a trending topic on my birthday. Haha! Efoehday, tinakasan ko ba kayo? Bawi nalang sa get together natin. :P

Thank you of course to the supreme, the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent Almighty God, my father, my creator and my Savior for allowing me to step at this age of my life. Having your guidance and protection leads me to the right way for always. Thank you that each day, you are changing me, teaching me to love people who seem not deserved to be loved. For being faithful though there are times I am unfaithful to you. For being my driver, my security guard, my co employees, my boss, my friend, thank you so much.

I am really overwhelmed, grateful and feeling super blessed. To my friends, family, co-employees, and God, I am now expressing my warmest gratitude for you who had contributed to make my day such a great and wonderful day to be remembered.

P.S. What’s my birthday wish? Nothing. I just loved people giving wishes and prayers for me and I am just celebrating seeing those blessings outpouring in me, asked by me or not. That is truly more than enough. NO I’M NOT LUCKY I’M BLESSED, yes!

Trick or Treat with ZomBaliw

As the first day of November comes, Filipinos, particularly the Roman Catholics, as a tradition used to light candles in front of their houses in memories of their love ones.

This season, the All Saint’s and all Soul’s day would never be complete without these spooky stuffs:

Halloween Party
Horror Movies
Trick or Treat
Haunted houses and places trips

Unlike the usual activities of Filipino kids, who loved to play and collect the dried fallen candle waxes on the night of November 1^st,, things already changed. Since last year, children living in our village started to have a trick or treat. It seems like it’s another version of caroling at Christmas, but on the shortest way and most prepared way, putting make ups, bringing pumpkins and buckets and singing or shouting, “Happy Halloween, Trick or Treat!” The houses around our village warmly enjoy those kids having fun as they gave money and candies. I think these kids were really inspired and influenced by watching one of the famous cartoons in their generation, Spongebob Squarepants.

My sister wore on a make-up to some kids, using only lipstick and eyeliner. I put a make up on my cousin and to myself. I prepared for this one, so I bought a witch hat.

I achieve this look by highlighting my eyes with a smoky eye shadow, putting my red lip liner under my eyes and applying my black liquid eyeliner on my lips. How ironic, right?

I want blood!!!

Over all I super enjoyed the celebration, though it’s cheap, what matters is seeing those happy faces by the kids around me, especially my nephew who really portrays his role very well. Creepy!

Belated happy teacher’s day! It’s better to be late than never.

This is my way to recognize my great college professors at Bulacan State University-Sarmiento Campus with utmost appreciation and sweetest thoughts ever. I salute each of them as they continue to impart the best knowledge and thoughts they can contribute to their beloved students. They work not just to earn money, but they love their profession as mentors and builders of the future generation. Teachers are the living heroes. Let’s get to know them one by one.

Mrs. Marites Valendez – a.k.a ‘Mam Babes’ is one of the sweetest professors I ever had. I like it when she calls her students “baby”. I cannot forget her because of her funny expressions such as “por Diyos, por Santo”. I also adore her fashion statement. I believe she will be forever young at heart.

Mrs. Lorelei Consuelo – Reporting in her class was a very challenging one and I accepted that and made my best out of it. Glad I made a history. It was the first time she gave a grade of flat one in reporting. She was known for letting the students show what we got through presentations.

Mrs. Rizelyn Marantan – I always see her around the university and I always dreamed to become her student because I am hearing good student feedbacks about her. It was granted as she became my Mass Communication professor in 4^th year. She really proved those feedbacks right as I really enjoyed the class with her: somehow unwinding from the stress of thesis. I adore her passion for journalism as she even provides finances for Laurel publication just to keep the organization persist.

Mr. Enrique Reyes – You’re the man for me Sir Eric! He opened my eyes to my wildest imagination about Philippine literature and how I wish we had World literature class so he became my professor for a longer time. The way he delivers stories seems like he was at the very same moment when it happened. Nakakabitin. I want more from you!

Dr. Pedro Abanador – One of the funniest professors I encountered. I can say there are no dull moments in his class. Though he’s a doctor, he remained down to earth and not boastful to introduce himself just to gain the highest respect and approval of the students.

MATHEMATICS

Ms. Teresita Breguera – They say Statistics is easy. But I really find it hard (maybe because I have no good foundation in Mathematics way back in Highschool. I did not focus on it well). Mam Breguera looks tough but still I believe she has a soft heart. I cannot forget her line in the midst of our make or break final exam, “Mga bata pa naman kayo kaya pwede pa kayo umulit”. Mixed emotions arose from our class, but everyone indeed laugh about it.

Mr. Adolfo Victorino – Though I’m not good in Mathematics, thank God he still passed me in his class. His character somehow made me curious. I found him full of mystery as his handkerchief covering his mouth shows.

Engr. Rusty Bartolome – He’s good at teaching trigonometry and is open for conversations and easier explanations for the students. He is one of the cutest professors I had. Farewell, Sir.

ACCOUNTING

Mr. Antolin Pangan – Because of him I learned balance sheets and T legends. I found accounting a cool class, it only has simple algorithms and yet when you go down to the result, uh oh, “not balance”, which made the class a bit exciting and thrilling.

SCIENCE

Engr. Evelyn Almazan – She’s been my professor for less than a month. But still I got a chance to know her. I think she’s a supportive professor to her students. She’s God fearing and portrays’ a motherly role as a professor.

Sir Arnel Gutierrez – I praise him as he pushes himself to teach his class in English way. He is somehow strict, but still he gives consideration. I admire his figure, he seems like he regularly visits the gym. I also adore his dancing talent.

Engr. Natalie Zamora – She is one of the nicest people I’ve ever known. I admire her for her courage to fight the battle of living and dying. She is one of the reasons why I became an advocate of the Mother Earth. She’s very inspiring. A friend of mine said that she is the only professor who acknowledged his talent in public. With regards to talent unleashing, Mam Nat always stands out among the professors as she continues to enhance the choir organization in the University.

FILIPINO

Ms. Lea S. Bueno – The easy-to-hang-out professor is like her. Filipino classes have never been cool for me before until she became my mentor. She’s jolly and she also gets a chance to deliver jokes to her students outside the class but still we owe big respect to her.

SOCIAL SCIENCES

Mr. Sherwin Pariñas – I label him as male-fashion icon professor. It is very impossible that you can’t notice him walking in the corridors. You nerves will really tell you to look at him. I find him an observant one, he talks less but indeed he’s a man of wisdom. Aside from that, he’s a talented one: singer slash dancer. Can we ask for more?

Sir Edwin Sandel – I learned my rights and he opened to me so many thoughts about politics and governance that I’ve never known and understand before. I like his way of teaching using case studies. The Philippine Constitution became a stock knowledge to me.

Sir Ruben – I discovered many things during psychology class in him. I cannot forget how he defined psychology in the coolest but easiest way it can be.

Mrs. Chona Dulay – We became close during her stay in BSU as she became our Student Government adviser. She’s a soft hearted professor.

Ms. Melissa Azarcon – Mam Mel is nice and delivers lessons very well. Aside from it, she is very cute and cool one.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Engr. Zenaida Buendia – Ni hao! Learning Mandarin was so hard for me and it’s as if I’m learning A-B-C-D again but in a foreign language. Our Director, as I look at her at the office, looks strict and a very disciplinary professor. But sitting in her class changed everything. She made it a point that it will not tend out to be boring as she makes it extremely funny and full of learning.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Mrs. Carol C. Baylon – Who would have thought that this sporty professor also have the moves on the dance floor? Wow! That was the word I said as I saw her dancing on ‘Faculty-on-Stage’ during her Rumba dance. The strong muscles that she has as she throws the softball are extremely the opposite as she waves her waist and gracefully extends her arms like a dance port contestant.

Sir Randy – My first impression to him was he was a scary professor. His physical feature says it all. But when you got to know him and actually have a chance to seat and listen to him, I salute him for his love of sports and physical education. He is the living proof of the saying “don’t judge the book by its cover.”

Sir Aries – I absolutely enjoyed the whole semester I got the chance to be with him. He introduced me ballroom dancing and I made it a point to always have my best in every performance that I had in his class, be in practice or in examinations. Learning ballroom dance was entertaining and exciting with him.

NSTP

Ms. Eleonor Palomo – The long I stayed in the university was the chance I had to see her develop fully. Everyday, she grows prettier and prettier in my eyes. Aside from that, she is really kind-hearted and understanding professor.

Mrs. Ma. Belen De Leon – A professor who has the extended heart to the students and the unschooled youths is what she has. She’s like a motherly professor.

OJT COORDINATOR

Engr. Richard Sta. Maria –Though I never got a chance to seat and learn a subject from him, still his fond support for the OJT students was appraising and seems never ending. He’s easy to approach whenever I asked, and I have to mention this: He is a cool and nice professor.

COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

Sir Louie Cajanding – I never got the chance to be his student though somehow he became a part of my college journey. He is very welcoming and I can come to him everywhere in the school. He doesn’t even refuse to answer each of my questions. He is easy to get along with.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Ms. Shiela G. Reyes – I understand the fact that it was her first time to teach when she became our professor. That’s why she was some how striving to teach us better. But as I stayed for 4 years in the university, I’ve seen her grow and I can say she’s becoming better in her profession as days go by.

Mr. Mario Salvador –He is a down to earth person and a very supportive one. His students love his effort of making funny things and expressions. He acknowledges all his students even we are out of the class and ‘tambay’ at the corridors. We are very proud that ‘Dingdong Dantes’ of BulSU-SC is from our department.

Ms. Jennifer Repaso – ‘Anyways’ is the expression I cannot forget from her. An understanding and considerate character is what she possesses. She is also a fashionable professor and aside from that, she dances very well.

Ms. Laura G. Llarena – I learned the lesson the hard way from her but I admit it was one of the best ways on becoming skilled at information technology and I valued what it is all about. Many students don’t easily accept and understand her technique and brag her from being harsh. But getting to recognize her style, she doesn’t want a spoon-fed type of education and we have to take her criticisms constructively. She only gives theories and clues and it is now our way to discover what’s next. I know you will agree with me that she is a versatile professor. She always asked the class “why?” and she will not leave you around until you she digs up the answer from you.

Mrs. Elenita Capariño – My first programming teacher. One of the kindest professors at BulSu is who she is. She is very concern, understanding and appreciative. She always gives chances to does students who struggles to comply her requirements. You can count on her and she’s willing to connect with you anytime of the day. By the way, I also find her sexy. ;)

Engr. Mariciel Baligod – Sex appeal was what she really has. I really admire her: when the wind blows her hair, the way she talks, and she looks at you is really mesmerizing. She appears to me as the lead star of my favorite action movie “So close”.

Engr. Mary Grace Hermogenes – She is one of the most disciplinary professors at BulSU. She easily gets annoyed to noisy and naughty students (who would never be) and yet she stills have the forgiving heart. I admire her mastery on the subjects that she teaches and she deserves her position as the IT Department Head. All of my class in her is about logic and I find it both challenging and pleasurable. It is very seldom to see her smile and that’s why I like it when she does.

Engr. Miriam Pariñas – From her I am at ease, feel the 100% safe and portrays both as a mother and professor. During our tough times working at our thesis, she wholeheartedly and unstoppably support us on each and every plans that we make. Unknowing, she lifts up some spirit, wisdom and inspiration for our group. Each and every time I got a chance to talk to her was really a comfortable. She still made her self accountable for every mistake that our group created and made it a point to also explain and fix the problem with the panel.

Engr. Marlon Hernandez – He is your professor next door. A multi-talented person: good at networking, programming, multimedia and of course, photography. He’s making his way to be the best in his passion for photography. I like the fact that he even makes his student his friends, use to hang-out with them and make some activities beyond school. But still, he stays professional and we owe respect to him. I never found him taking advantage of his students knowing the fact that he has the ‘looks’. There is one incident that I had with him I can never forget and I know he knows that.

I genuinely praise and honor all of the enthusiastic professors at BulSU-SC who passionately dedicate themselves to educate the students unconditionally. Our relationship as student-professor will forever and will always be in my heart. They have different personalities with different fields of expertise but still gather all together with same vision and goals in my second home, my Alma Mater. You will always be a special part of me. Kudos to you my great professors!

Nescafe 3in1 Sweet n’ Mild Jingle: “Good Morning sa Inyo”

After Nescafe’s famous slogan “Para kanino ka bumabangon” (For whom do you wake up?), here comes another advertisement that left in the minds of the Filipino viewers. As their new product Nescafe 3in1 Sweet ‘n Mild was endorsed, here is “Good Morning sa Inyo” (Good morning to you) jingle.

This was indeed a hit! Anywhere and anytime of the day, I am hearing this from people: of any age and professions, almost everyone loves this jingle. This also turns out to be a last song syndrome (LSS). Super contagious!

I also heard this commercial on radio, but it was only once, and I never got the chance to remember the first stanza. I apologize for that. The jingle was a bit longer on radio.

The lyrics? Oh, it’s very easy to memorize. Here it goes:

Ang aga-aga, ang bitter.
Gawin nating ‘yang sweeter.

Good morning sa inyo.
Sweet and mild ang kasama ko.
Tamis na iyong hatid.
Umaga ay walang pait.
Good morning sa inyo.

Do you know that SUNSHINE is its title? I just read it from another blog. And no doubt, whenever I hear it around, the one who sings it has a smile on his face (and some listeners as well). It deserves the title, and it really turned out bitter moments into sweet ones. This has been a very good and cool advertisement for the newest Nescafe 3in1 Sweet ‘n Mild. I believe this jingle is a good aura creator.

What about the singer? For now I don’t know who she is but she really has a good voice. Somehow her voice sounds a bit like 100 days to Heaven’s OST. But if ever she wants to be a star? I think this is a great start of her career, just like Nikki Gil’s Coca Cola and Tony Gonzaga’s Sprite commercial paved the way for their Stardom. But for sure she’ll receive some not so good comments about her facial expressions on the commercial. Forget about her acting; just listen to her angelic and Disney voice. :D

What’s the taste? I’m neither a coffee drinker nor addict but still I want to try it in order to know if the wonderfully made advertisement justifies the experience of the product. I’ll update this blog one of these days :D . Sweet and Mild is the latest variation of Nescafe 3in1 following Original, Strong ‘n Rich, and Brown ‘n Creamy.

E. WHERE TO SECURE/FILE APPLICATION

• The application form can be obtained at the Science Education Institute, 3/F, PTRI Bldg., Bicutan, Taguig City, Metro Manila; DOST Regional Offices; and Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTC) or Offices of the Congressmen. It can be downloaded also at the website, www.sei.dost.gov.ph

• Accomplished form can be filed at the Science Education Institute, 3rd Floor, PTRI Bldg., Bicutan, Taguig City, MM., or DOST Regional Office/PSTC nearest the applicant's school or home address.

Note: The Test Permit/s shall be mailed to the applicant or school principal for distribution to the applicants. In case test permits are not received before examination day, the examinees may check with the DOST Regional Office/PSTC a day before the examination and proceed to the nearest designated test center.

F. SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

a. An awardee must seek admission and enroll at any of the:
a.1 State universities and colleges
a.2 Any tertiary institution identified as Center of Excellence or Central of Development by CHED for the priority courses.
a.3 DOST-SEI identified network institutions.
He/she should pass the qualifying examination for admission by the university at which he/she plans to enroll.

b. An awardee shall comply with the terms of the Scholarship Agreement to be entered into between himself/herself, parents or guardian and the DOST-SEI.

c. After signing the Scholarship Agreement, the awardee’s name shall be included in the lists of scholars needing clearance from DOST-SEI forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs, National Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Immigration.

d. An awardee shall maintain the grade requirement of the scholarship.

e. Upon completion of his/her Bachelor of Science course, an awardee shall serve in the country preferably in his/her home region on full-time basis along his/her field of training for a minimum period equivalent to the length of time he/she enjoyed this scholarship.

G. EXAMINATION COVERAGE

This is an aptitude test designed to measure abilities that determine academic and professional success in science, mathematics and engineering. The test is divided into two major components:

1. Intellective

Scientific Ability; Quantitative Ability;

Mechanical and Technical Ability

Linguistic Ability; Imagery, Inspection, Working Memory

and Sensorimotor Ability

2. Non-Intellective

The awardees shall be selected on the basis of their performance in the 2012 S&T Scholarship Examination.

I. FINAL SELECTION

The list of awardees as approved and announced by the DOST Secretary is final and unappealable.

MISS UNIVERSE 2011: Top 16, Top 10, Top 5

The most stunning evening finally unfolded as 89 gorgeous ladies from different countries of different colors and shapes gathered together to compete in the biggest pageant in the universe. Miss Angola strikes the crown to be this year’s Miss Universe.

Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup who was the only one among the magic five who did not need a translator for the intelligence round has made it to be the third runner up. Last year, the country’s representative Miss Venus Raj made it as the fourth runner up.

Miss USA and Venezuela representatives unfortunately didn’t make it to the top five. This is very rare for these countries that were always part of the list for the recent years.

Dinner at Pizza Hut

For a long window shopping at Mall of Asia, I found myself hungry and craving for pizza. What’s my first restaurant choice? It’s Pizza Hut.

My craving for pizza lost when I’ve seen these mouthwatering photos of pasta and I realized I’m stocked in menu’s pasta section. Fettuccine was my favorite pasta recipe and wherever restaurant I go I want to eat their rendition of my favorite creamy dish. Since I already tasted it here, now I tried this unfamiliar pasta dish to me, the Three-Cheese Ravioli (Php 189.00/ USD 4.40).

Three-Cheese Ravioli is a combination of ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses with a creamy, flavorful filling. It tastes good and yummy but the sauce for me was a bit strong and maybe that’s the reason why I did not left my plate empty (or maybe, I am takaw-tingin).

Uly has ordered Pork Barbeque Rice (Php 199.00/ USD 4.62) . It is not the typical pork barbeque on stick rather it is glazed pork ribs in BBQ sauce served over steamed rice sliced in tiny bits which I prefer is better. It has less creamy sauce so it is not messy and hassle to eat. But according to him, it still satisfies his mouth and he’s looking for extra rice but decided to eat the left viand alone. I also tasted it, and I can say it’s really yummy.

For the drinks, I ordered Caribbean Smoothie (Php 89.00 / USD 2.06). It was like a combination of tropical fruits shake with a scoop of ice cream on top and a weird toppings which I don’t know the name.

Uly’s drink was the Dulce de Leche (Php 89.00 / USD 2.06). It was like a caramelized candy blended with milk shake with a scoop of ice cream. Both are delicious but I loved Dulce de Leche’s taste more rather than what I ordered. :D

The service at Pizza Hut – MOA branch was better than in SM Megamall. Our meal was served on time. The very welcoming staffs are very nice and approachable. And for the final verdict, our plates after meal speak; just take a look at these shots. :D

This was my first food blog ever. I enjoyed eating those stuffs as well as sharing to you my experience. This happened on Sep. 09, 2011(Fri) from 20:23:28 – 21:09:22 - (recorded from the receipt). Happy 6^th years of a roller coaster connection!

Cool Long Weekend with Coca Cola Glasses

Coca Cola glasses collectibles is our bonding partner for a very cool long weekend.

We can’t afford to take a vacation on Boracay, have an Asian tour, or even go to Enchanted Kingdom to celebrate the long weekend. Our family stayed in the house, we bond playing Angry Birds, scrutinizing the features of my Kuya’s newly bought Samsung Wave cellphone and eating meals together with the limited edition, Coca Cola glasses.

It was the first time we used the 6 collectible glasses offered by Mcdo. In order to avail it, I have to buy a meal. Each meal I bought costs about P 64+ plus P 25 per glass is equal to P 500+. That’s a bit costly for 6 glasses, but it’s all worth it. This is the perfect partner while having a great time with family and friends.

Remember this: Color Has an Impact on the Choices You Make.

6 colors for 6 different personalities, here it all goes.

I choose Purple, because it’s my favorite. Purple is always associated with royalty, which somehow actually defines my personality. I’d love to live in a prosperous life, I even dreamed of becoming a princess since I was young, and even now I enjoy wearing a crown. I love to live in fantasy, and making it the reality. Purple is also related to wisdom and creativity and I believe I possess them both.

Kuya Arvel chose Charcoal, or black (it is not a color). This color means power and mystery, as it has to reveal something or can be a symbol of concealing. I find my brother sort of a mysterious guy because he seldom shares story. When we talk, sometimes he just nods, just says ‘ah, ok’, I just receive short words from him, but that doesn’t mean he don’t care at all, maybe because he is the type of guy who wants to talk less. And that’s what charcoal color is all about; he has this sense of potential and responsibility and I really portray the brother role in our family.

Sheryl, my youngest sister chose color Pink, her favorite. Pink means self worth and love, and acceptance. That’s what my sister‘s personality reveals. She’s the one who loves to talk more to people, I know that she loves herself a lot, and she always wants to please of everybody even though it’s tough. And color pink, like her, also brings aggressive behavior and friendly. She’s a fighter, and a leader, just like me. :D

Jhon Jhon, my cousin used the Blue glass. This as they say is the coolest color ever, like the clouds in the sky. He is cool, super cool when he said to me one time, “I am naughty but I am God-fearing”. Too young to know the problems of the universe, he just enjoys everything in life. And as color blue represents, it lets us look beyond and increase our communication. My couz indeed needs a serious communication and I do go beyond the circumstances to get in touch with him just like reaching the blue sky.

My Mommy, chose her favorite color, Lime (green shades). Since I was a kid she loves to buy stuffs with color green: kitchen plastic wares, all our curtains are green, even the arinola (basin) is green! Because to her, green means money. Lime also means motivation, prosperity, hope and growth. And with my mom’s character I believe she possesses all of these positive thoughts as she raise her kids very well and respected persons. Talking about prosperity? We are almost there, I believe.

There’s one color and available, the Green glass. Yeah, its definition is same as lime.

Meet our family:

We all enjoy our lunch together with my Mom’s specialty: Nilagang baka. It’s a delicious and mouth watering Filipino dish for a cool and rainy Sunday.

The long weekend, even though it is lack for a fantastic rest day was a great moment to spend time with family and love ones. I’m looking forward to another long weekend. Oops, I think that’s two months from now, Undas (All Saints’ Day)!

I’m also looking forward to use these glasses together with my BFFs, the efoehday. Oh! I miss them so much!

For The Third Time, A SNATCHER Seated Beside Me

I used to ride in an economy bus from my place to work and it takes 1.5 – 2 hours of travel. I've experienced so many people come in and out of the bus, of different ages and different purposes. Here’s the fact: I've already encountered for 3 times that a snatcher seated beside me. I commonly seat 1-2 rows behind the driver. I’ll tell you my story.

First of all, these snatchers all ride between the Kamias and Aurora area (Going to south).

Snatcher #1: May 2011. Two ordinary-looking men (one w/ a hat), carrying no bags ride on the bus. The one seated beside me and the other seated beside a sleeping man on the row opposite to my side. The one tries to “kapkap” the sleeping man’s bag (btw, he looks a construction guy). Fortunately the potential victim awakened and then they had very strong exchange of words. The snatcher hardly denies. Those exchanges of words turned into punches. Whoa! They’re inside the bus and the bus driver even closed the 2 doors! Then the snatchers left disappointed and very, very mad. (Thank God, I’m awake that time and the snatcher seated beside me did not make me a victim.)

Snatcher #2: June 2011. Two guys younger than the first pair entered the bus from the middle door. They look “tambay” and carrying bags. They actually both want to seat beside me. I’m glad because before they arrived, I moved from the window to the aisle. So when they try to seat beside me, I did not move at all. One guy seated beside me and the other at our back. As usual, it’s traffic going to Cubao. Since they arrived, the condoctor did not even collect their fare. When we got to Cubao, one of them said, “Tara, MRT nalang tayo”. (Uh oh! The MRT’s last trip already passed.) I’m saved again. :D

Snatcher #3: This happened only last Friday. He’s alone, looks like a long-haired construction worker, carrying a back pack and seems going home. He only seated beside me for around five minutes and while the traffic is on, he just gets out of the bus. Then the condoctor shouted, “Dun ka nalang sa iba ha, yung style mo bulok!”. Oh my Gosh, I’m beside a snatcher again! After a minute he then continues to collect fairs at the back and just said, “Huwag kayong matutulog sa biyahe ha at baka madukutan kayo.” Confirmed! He’s indeed a bad guy. After that I realized the reason why the condoctor never left the front door is because he was watching over me. Thanks to him!

Here are facts:

Drivers and Condoctors know bad people. They can’t fight or not even allow them to enter the bus because they don’t know what these bad guys can do to them along the road.
Snatchers have different techniques. They work as a solo, duo or triple. Here are some of their styles and you should be aware of these:

· Victims a sleeping person

· Tutok (a knife or ice pick)

· Laglag (a thing will fall, of course the potential victim’s focus will be there, the bad guy’s partner will get your the wallet)

· Dukot (commonly used in standing ovation)

· Pick and run.

Their primary victims are the sleeping ones. I think this is the very effective and safest strategy because their faces will not be remembered and can’t be reported to the police.
They are everywhere. Economy or air-conditioned bus, jeepneys, public vehicles, MRT and LRT. Day or night, rain or shine.

Tips to all Commuters:

· Don’t sleep. It is not advisable to sleep on travel.

· Be vigilant. Don’t be paranoid, just relax.

· Don’t seat at the back. Go to the available seats near the front if there’s any. Better to seat in the aisle.

· Know your seatmate. Don’t ask them; just know where they will go when they pay.

· Avoid exposing your cellphone and other gadgets. This may attract attention to others.

· Wear your bag/pouch handles. So you will not be a victim of pick and run.

But, above this, the best tip is a prayer. Pray for a safe trip, pray that a trusted person will seat beside you, and pray that no bad guys will attack you. I keep on dong this, and it really works!

Commuters must be awakened for these situations. I hope you will learn something from my experience.
