New Downloadable Purse Pattern from Charlie's Aunt

We are always very happy to receive a new downloadable purse patterns from one of our very favorite pattern designers - Charlie's Aunt! The new pattern is called The Titchwell Bag which is classically inspired from bag designs from the 1940's and has a functional nautical feel to the shape of the bag.
The Titchwell Bag Pattern is in a PDF format and has complete instructions and pattern pieces. This unique bag pattern is named after the north Norfolk coastal marsh and features a front pocket and a tab fastening on the flap with the front pocket doubling as an interior pocket. The bag looks equally well made up in tweeds or plaids for a country image or in navy wool or stripes for a nautical look.

New Messenger Bag Pattern in the Works!

I am currently working on a new messenger style bag pattern and am having a lot of fun with it! The front flap has a multitude of differently sized inserts to give it depth and the back pocket can hold a cellphone. Inside is 3 pockets on each side of the bag to keep smaller items so they can conveniently be found with little effort and the long strap can be used across the body.

Lately I have been interested in vintage styled fabrics and I found this one at Jo-Ann's and it was love at first site!

I just sold my first fabric design at Spoonflower and it was a very enriching experience! I love vintage - there is something about that feeling you get when connecting with the past. I choose a background of a dark cream color and then went searching for a vintage font. I used this font to write a short paragraph about the main subject of the image - a Plymouth Rock chicken. I then added a faded red design and a border of vintage inspired lace at the top.

I cannot say enough about how encouraging this Durham, North Carolina company makes the experience, especially if you have grown up loving fabric. They provide tools to help with your creative ideas, including an easy to use interface to experiment with your own designs called PicMonkey that is available through Spoonflower with the click of a button. If you are interested in taking your first steps in fabric design, I highly recommend this company to help you reach your
own creative fabric goals!

PursePatterns.com is going to be making changes soon! Our website will be upgraded and the new site will be mobile friendly! It will be easy to buy your bag patterns directly from your cellphone without even going to your computer, laptop, etc.

Sew Sweetness Bag Pattern Designs Arriving Soon!

PursePatterns.com is currently in the process of adding a new Designer - Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness! I have looked over these patterns and they are all well written with very clear instructions and unique features.
Ms. Lawson is also offering a free bag pattern on her blog called the Arabesque Bag Pattern, which can be finished in around 3 hours for the confident beginner. She also offers a Bag of The Month Club, which is a great buy if you love to sew your own handbags.

I think my personal favorite is the Rockstar Bag, which is appropriately named! There are double handles, a detachable shoulder strap, and a totally cool front zippered section!

I love it when Charlies Aunt comes out with a new downloadable pattern and her most recent bag is a "must make" for me!
The Blakeney Clutch has everything I want in a bag - beautiful and symmetrical styling, practicality, and easy to follow instructions. This PDF pattern has a total of 16 pages and includes the full size pattern pieces - just download, print them out, and tape them together!
This purse pattern is designed in a retro style reminiscent of the 1920's with the overall concept updated for busy women of today and has directions for either a wrist or a shoulder strap. The Blakeney Clutch uses 3 fabrics for a truly unique design!

For the first time in my memory, StudioKat Designs has released two sewing patterns at the same time! I really like them both but The HipBag Hybrid is so very versatile that I find it irresistible.

The HipBag Hybrid Bag Pattern is a handy small bag that can be converted to be used in so many ways! Wear your new bag on your shoulder, as a convenient hip bag that fastens around your waist, or use it connected to your bike, walker, stroller, etc. There are 3 roomy storage areas with a front flapped pocket, a back zippered pouch, and a secret storage area. Options for the flap include an embellished front flap or a pieced front flap. Finished size is 7 1/2"L x 6"H x 3 1/2"D.

The second pattern is a great way to defeat that digging for your reward or credit cards. I just discovered a handbag sewing pattern stabilizer guide that is such a handy tool! It is available from Izzy Rogers and has swatches of stabilizers that are used in making your own handcrafted bags. This is useful because often I have noticed that I don't have a particular stabilizer that is recommended for a purse pattern and I would like to substitute something I currently have in my stash.
The solution? Find the stabilizer sample in the guide and match it up as closely as possible with the pattern designer's instructions! This handy guide is so practical and I love practical:)

We are happy to announce that we have just added a new bag designer - Izzy Rogers. Her patterns have a unique twist and really appeal to me because I am an organizational addict:)

This feature is very useful for those of us who carry a large bag but want to use a smaller purse to carry into the grocery store, shopping mall, etc.

Did you know that you can take your Craftsy classes with you? I have taken several classes from Craftsy and I really like the convenience and the professionalism of this online learning venue!

I didn't realize until today that I can download an app to my phone and take these classes with me. This is a great idea if you can't stand to be idle and want to feel like you are getting something accomplished all the time!
