The Gucci Icons collection is a small collection reproducing the iconic designs of Gucci. The Bamboo is obviously the highlights of this season and there are many great Bamboo bags in this collection. The prices are generally expensive but then again they are icons so it lasts longer than you and me. Well, if money were not a concern, everyone should aspire to own one as they are considered one of the classic unique bags of all time and Gucci was the first luxury house to elate the bamboo to luxury. They are treats to the eyes, aren’t they? Items like these are the reason i fell for Gucci to begin with, which put me at the starting line of fascination with the luxury industry and bags. These are where it all began!!

A new look from Prada nylon collection. I like this bag, just not the price (USD1,160) even after 20% off at Bluefly. Prada nylon bags simply are just too expensive despite its quality which holds for years.

Valentino? Nope! This is a DKNY clutch. The clutch is made entirely of soft Nappa leather. The size is pretty standard at 12.5″x5″ making this an elegant piece without much fuss. It would, to me easily pass as Valentino with its rose petal decor. Price? This is the best part: at only USD180, it perhaps is just about  one-fifth or a quarter of the price should Valentino make one with the same material.The clutch is also available in ivory. Why not red too??

I know it is due for coverage but somehow I could not find the right time to feature more of Phoebe Philo’s Celine bags, which for what it’s worth, are fantastic! The Bowling has quickly established a reputation to be a favorite even only after a few months but that is the power of Phoebe Philo’s design. The Bowling bag is made entirely of deerskin, which is soft and uber-nice and the design is neutral enough to be a man bag, which seems to be the case with most of the bags in the collection. Way to go for Celine! The Bowling bag is available at your nearest Celine stores for USD2,250 for the medium size.

Marni is all about charm. The dresses, the flats, the quirky accessories and the bags are all nothing but cute, adorable, charming!!! We have not featured any Marni bag for a while but their Fall/Winter 2010 collection scored high with some vintage inspired bags. NICE!!!

I can’t really recall when it started but Frida Gianini seems to have managed to fuse her signature look into Gucci without having to create a big statement like what Tom Ford once did. Gucci Fall/Winter 2010 is to me quintessentially Italian, a Gucci Italian for that matter with its leather jacket, super sharply tailored pants up to the make-up and hair but at the same time, it is also very Frida. “I’ve grown up. It’s more mature clothes for more mature women, because that’s what I am,” Frida Giannini said after her show. If she is right then I have to say that being 38 is probably a prime for any Italian woman because Frida seems to have hit another level of success with this collection. It is one thing to revamp and come up with a total new look for a mega brand like Gucci like what Tom Ford did, but it is another to fuse the house’s signatures seamlessly with the designer’s signature and make it identifiable as a single entity like what Nicolas Ghesquiere has done in Balenciaga and in the case of Frida Gianini for Gucci, it seems like she is earning her respects by following the latter. The bags are awesome too. I can’t wait to see the full collection.
