Good Evening All - just a few quick reminders about some upcoming events over the next couple of days:

Saturday 2/25 - 9am @ the Extension office: Saturday Series Class - Fruit Crops

Sat., Feb 25 Seed-Starting Workshop (UT Bldg.)

1 p.m. for Master Gardeners

2 p.m. for Interns

We will be planting almost all our seed flats that day – enough to provide over 1500 saleable plants. Whether you are a veteran gardener or an absolute novice, there is a place for you

Sunday Afternoon Gardening Classes at the Home & Garden Show

Gardening Classes will be taught at the Upper Cumberland Home & Garden Show on Sunday afternoon, March 4, by Putnam County Master Gardeners. The schedule is:

12:30 PM        The Daylily Diva Dishes the Dirt on Daylilies!
Nancy Rich, Blooming Idiots Farm, will present a program on the culture, propagation and maintenance of today's modern hybrid daylilies. The infamous Daylily Fashion Show will feature some of the latest trends of AHS daylilies on the market with patterned eyes, teeth and tentacles and the greens and blues.

1:30 PM          Proven Perennials for the Landscape
Teresa Bostic will introduce students to tried-and-true plant selections that will perform year after year. Perennials never go out of style, and they provide a great return on investment.

2:30 PM          Produce a Bountiful Harvest with Square Foot Gardening
Larry McNabb will demonstrate the basics of a gardening technique that requires less weeding, higher yields, and easy maintenance, but provides more bang for your buck in a compact area.

Hello friends! I wanted to let folks know that the calendar is starting to fill up with dates. Please check often for opportunities to work on the multitude of projects we have shaping up for 2012. It's not even February yet and our calendar is already full of events! We ARE Growing!

Also, I wanted to let folks know that we're having some issues with the subscription service not delivering them in a timely manner, or not delivering them at all. I apologize for the inconvenience. While I work on a solution, please make sure you stop by the website frequently to see what's new on the calendar. If a solution can't be found, I'll work on an alternative subscription method for updates.

2012 Saturday Series Public Class Offerings

We have a very exciting line up of educational opportunities available over the coming months that you will not want to miss. Please visit the 'Classes for the Public' tab to see what's happening this year and for times, locations, and costs. Our first class is quickly approaching! Plan to join us for an informational session about Cool Season Vegetables on February 11th.

Please be save the date for the following meetings in January:

Our regular Membership meeting will be moved forward one week to Monday, January 9th, at 6:00pm CST.

We're also excited to remind everyone that on Monday, January 16th, at 6:00pm CST, our newest group of interns will be meeting for the first time at the UT Extension - Please join us in welcoming our 2012 interns! As always, we'll provide food for this class, so please bring a dish to share.

Thank you for visiting the new home of the Putnam County Master Gardeners. We're in the midst of a complete website redesign, and hope you like what you see. Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions so we know how to make our page better. To get started, here's some information about who we are (this information will be permanently available on the About Us page):

The Putnam County Master Gardener Organization is a group of individuals with a passion for gardening, a thirst for knowledge, and a desire to educate. We are a volunteer organization that is dedicated to helping the community in which we live through education and community beautification projects.

The Putnam County Master Gardeners organization is comprised of over 60 members from the Upper Cumberland area, and is part of the University of Tennessee Master Gardener Program which boasts over 2000 members statewide.

Meetings are held the 3rd Monday of every month at the extension office which is located at:

900 S. Walnut Avenue

Cookeville, TN

Any changes to meeting location will be announced on the website news feed.
