Bali, sebagai sebuah nama sudah menjelaskan semuanya. Sudah berkali-kali bom diledakkan fundamentalis Islam, kekerasan terjadi, tetapi yang pasti sampai sekarang Bali is Bali.
Mungkin itu pula yang menarik, event-event Internasional/Nasional, kenegaraan, sosbud,ekonomi, politik dsbnya terjadi di Bali। Sebagai orang waras, mungkin ada yang tertarik mengangkat kasus ini berbuah implikasi hukum? karena fitnah, toh banyak umat beragama di Bali tidak berbuat maksiat, seperti PKS [partai Islam], yang berencana juga mengadakan Mukernas di Bali, tentu tidak untuk berbuat maksiat dong॥

Mendung mungkin masih menyelimuti umat Hindu di Lombok Barat, NTB yang tidak bisa bersembahyang bersama di Pura Sangkareang pada hari ini. Paska pengrusakan Pura tanggal 15 Januari 2008, pkl.23:15, 90 % kondisi Pura Sangkareang rata dengan tanah.

Beginilah nasib sebuah negeri yang tidak adil. Ketidakadilan yang hanya bisa menghasilkan kekerasan fisik dan psikis. Tetapi tidak untuk semuanya, saya garis bawahi karena bersyukur masih ada umat beragama yang waras dan tidak larut dalam konflik horizontal. Dimana peran pemerintah [yang hanya bisa memerintah] dan aparat keamanan [golongan tertentu]? ini selalu akan menjadi pertanyaan ketika kekerasan telah menjadi spiral, seperti kata Dom Helder Camara.

Kepada umat se-Dharma, Selamat Hari Galungan. Tidak ada yang bisa merubah keyakinan, kecuali diri kita, tidak juga dengan pengrusakan Pura. Semoga kebenaran masih selalu ada di hati kita. Satyam eva jayate! [kebenaran pasti akan menang].

Syair diatas telah bercerita banyak betapa seorang ibu akan berbuat apapun demi anaknya. Dari waktu ke waktu ibu selalu menemani kita. Sejak dalam kandungan selama lebih 9 bulan, merawat kita ketika bayi, menyekolahkan, membantu mengerjakan pekerjaan rumah, hingga sekarang kita dewasa. Kasih ibu selalu menemani.

Di jaman modern peranan ibu mulai bergeser. Pada jaman dahulu fungsi scola matterna (pengasuhan ibu sampai usia tertentu) masih sangat dominan. Proses dan lembaga sosialisasi tertua umat manusia ini seiring dengan kemajuan jaman berubah menjadi scola in loco parentis (lembaga pengasuhan anak pada waktu senggang di luar rumah) menggantikan peran orang tua. Alma mater, kemudian menjadi istilah yang sangat populer sebagai ibu asuh atau ibu yang memberikan ilmu.

Perubahan dan perkembangan jaman memang tidak secara otomatis membawa kemajuan dalam peran seorang ibu. Indonesia, sebagai negara berkembang juga tidak terlepas dari pengaruh globalisasi ini. Ibu dari ayah, mungkin memiliki peran berbeda dengan ibu kita. Sebagai mana peran seorang ibu rumah tangga dengan ibu yang bekerja di luar rumah. Tetapi yang harus kita ingat, bahwa kasih ibu tetap dan tidak berubah. Keadaanlah yang berubah.

Ada sebuah kisah menarik, dari negeri Jepang. Sebelumnya, saya ingin bertanya: stereotip apa yang melekat di benak anda jika mendengar kata Jepang ? etika kerjanya? pendidikannya? kebudayaannya? kemajuan ekonominya?

Kepada Kompas, 7 Juli 2007, Daoed Joesoef menceritakan kisahnya ketika berkunjung ke negeri Sakura. Suatu hari ia berjalan-jalan di sebuah toko buku, pada saat itu ia melihat seorang ibu dan anaknya yang SD sedang sibuk memilih-milih buku. Daoed menyapa, si ibu kemudian datang mendekat lalu menekan kepala anaknya agar membungkuk berkali-kali, sebagaimana layaknya orang Jepang memberi hormat, sembari mengucapkan sesuatu yang ditiru oleh anak kecil itu. Setelah mengetahui ia bukan hanya orang asing tetapi juga Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (era Soeharto), makin banyaklah kemudian anak-anak yang meminta Daoed menanda-tangani buku yang baru mereka beli. Sejak kecil anak-anak Jepang diajarkan menyukai buku dan menghormati budaya.

Bangsa kita mungkin sudah tidak lagi memandang peran ibu hanya sebagai pendamping suami, melahirkan anak, membesarkannya, sekaligus mengurus rumah tangga (memasak, dsbnya). Tetapi juga sebagai wanita pekerja. Ada anggapan perempuan berpendidikan tinggi yang hanya tinggal di rumah, telah menyia-nyiakan waktu dan kemampuannya.

Hal berbeda yang patut kita tiru dari ibu-ibu di Jepang adalah anggapan bahwa seorang ibu seharusnya berpendidikan dan berpengetahuan agar mampu mengasuh sekaligus membesarkan putra-putri dengan baik dan benar. Tony Dickensheets, mengatakan ini sebagai, a pure Japanese phenomenon.
Akankah globalisasi dan jaman modern memberi tempat kembali pada fungsi scola matterna?

Mungkin juga. Paling tidak jika kita kembali kepada ajaran Hindu, Catur Guru. Mengajarkan bahwa pendidikan berawal dari keluarga. Guru Rupaka (orang tua) mengajarkan pendidikan yang paling dasar, sekaligus mendidik untuk dapat belajar dari Guru Pengajian ( di sekolah), Guru Wisesa (pemerintah), dan Guru Swadhyaya (Tuhan). Masa depan adalah milik anak-anak. Dan peran besar di tangan ibu untuk membantu mewujudkannya.

Satyam eva jayate

Hari ini saya melipat lembaran kalender, dan menggantinya dengan yang baru. Seperti bulan-bulan sebelumnya, kalender Bali terbitan Paramita Surabaya ini menyelipkan ajaran Hindu, dibagian bawah. Tidak ada yang istimewa, tapi yang membuat saya tertarik ada motto KMHDI ditempatkan dibulan yang sama dengan kelahirannya?

SATYAM EVA JAYATE NANRTAM yang berarti hanya kebenaran yang menang bukan ketidakbenaran. Kalender ini melanjutkan kutipannya : berpikir benar, berbuat benar akan membawa anda dekat dengan Tuhan.
SATYAM SWARUPA BRAHMAN artinya Hyang Widhi adalah wujud kebenaran itu sendiri.

Tidak harus menjadi orang yang sangat relijius untuk memahami maksud kalimat diatas. Berpikir lalu berbuat dengan benar pasti akan mendatangkan kejayaan, bukan? Dan kebenaran pasti akan selalu menang di akhir episode? Paling tidak itulah yang kita harapkan. Sebagai orang beragama kebenaran menjadi hal penting. Sebagaimana setiap orang menginginkan kebahagiaan, pencapaian tertinggi dari cita-cita mereka.

Lalu apa hubungan motto kebenaran pasti menang tersebut bagi KMHDI? Saya tidak tahu. Jujur saja. Untuk meng-gotak-gatukan mungkin bisa, meski memaksa.

Sebagai nafas organisasi ajaran Hindu masuk sebagaimana melekat di diri masing-masing anggotanya. KMHDI memang bukan organisasi keagamaan. Kata Hindu dalam KMHDI adalah moralitas privat yang dianut masing-masing individu di dalam organisasi tersebut. Pada kenyataannya, praktis berorganisasi , apa makna dari kebenaran? apa yang tidak benar? Yang seharusnya kalah? Sesuatu yang abstrak bukan, karenanya kita butuh sesuatu yang riil dan praktis, yaitu: moralitas organisasi. Kebenaran kemudian diterjemahkan menjadi baik, dan tidak baik sebagai pengganti tidak benar.

Jika kita tetap konsisten dengan motto, Kebenaran pasti menang! Dapatkah kita membuka diri dengan [mengikuti kutipan diatas]: memikirkan yang terbaik untuk organisasi, melakukan yang terbaik untuk organisasi sehingga semakin dekat kita dengan nama Kesatuan Mahasiswa Hindu Dharma Indonesia ?

Jika seorang teman mengatakan, Satyam Eva Jayate! Secara moral kita sebaiknya menjawab dengan Jaya! bukannya Saya atau Sate [sebagaimana yang pernah saya lakukan]. Seringkali kita menganekdotkan sesuatu istilah karena kita tidak dapat memaknainya secara sungguh-sungguh. Atau [mungkin] itulah bentuk pemahaman kita, karena kebenaran seharusnya menang, tanpa diperjuangkan?

Berpikir benar, berbuat benar akan membawa anda dekat dengan Tuhan. Sangat sederhana kalimat ini, sekaligus susah untuk dilakukan. Sebagaimana sangat sulitnya menjadi anggota yang baik, pengurus yang sungguh-sungguh mengurus, pemimpin yang sungguh-sungguh memimpin, dsbnya.

Apa itu kebenaran? Sangat abstrak. Gandhi menyederhanakannya dengan kalimat, Kebenaran adalah Tuhan. Tetap saja abstrak.

Jika sekali lagi ada yang bertanya, Satyam eva jayate? Jawablah dengan : Jaya! Kalau perlu sampai 3x. Lalu jika pertanyaannya menjadi : apakah KMHDI berjalan dengan baik? Mulailah dengan menjelaskan:

3. Pelaksanaannya adalah …
4. Evaluasi saya adalah …
5. Koordinasi sejauh ini adalah …
