Shell files first patent from QSTP

Shell has filed the first patent application for an invention at the Qatar Science & Technology Park. The invention for which the patent application has been filed is a shutdown procedure for a fixed-bed Fischer Tropsch reactor preventing catalyst activity loss. The Fischer Tropsch chemical reaction is part of the gas to liquids (GTL) process. For more information please click here

Hydro Joins QSTP

Hydro has announced that it will establish a research and training centre at Qatar Science & Technology Park. It will study ways of maximising the safety and productiveness of the Qatalum aluminium plant, which it is building in a joint venture with Qatar Petroleum. QSTP Partners with Italian Bioscientists

QSTP and Biogem, an Italian biotechnology group, have signed an agreement to train Qatar's young bioscientists and establish joint research projects. Qatar University Wireless Center Launched

QSTP to open Qatar Robotic Surgery Centre next year

QSTP is establishing a centre for robotic surgery. It will train doctors from Qatar and the region in robot-assisted surgery, while fostering technology development and new clinical procedures. The first six surgeons from Hamad Medical Corp and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar are now being trained, and the centre will open in the second half of 2009.
