I just made a hilariously awesome playlist on Spotify that I am so tickled with that I have just cracked open a beer and put on the headphones so I can fully enjoy the cool silliness of the playlist.

Some of my tumblr friends might enjoy it, though many may hate it. Check it out if you don’t hate half the songs I generally post :)

I’m sorry, but this song is fucking awesome! From the writer of all of Blue Oyster Cult’s hits, apparently Buck’s solo album was fare that the rest of B.O.C. felt was too lite.

This song is epic in some ways… I love all the shit going on in the background in the first half of the song, kinda buried in the mix.

“Star Maps” is such a great fucking album! Definitely The Possum’s crowning achievement. While I can’t be 100% certain, this might just be my favorite album of the 90’s.

Fred Frith - “Dancing in the Street/My Enemy is a Bad Man” - 1980

I remember when I first heard this on a Ralph Records 2xLP set I got in high school. It destroyed my mind and made me an instant fan of Frith. The controlled chaos thrilled me. It is so faithful to the original yet at the same time puts a gigantic twist on the song.

A great song to listen to on headphones for sure!

This was one of those songs that inspired me to get a 4-track and dick around with the fun of making music.

As this was the mid to late 1990’s, it was still kind of easy to get new old stock of early 80’s Ralph releases on vinyl at or below list price and I remember immediately tracking down Frith’s “Cheap at Half The Price” LP from 1983. I was lucky to get that album, as it fit my sensibility of disjointed, artful, adventurous 4-track poppy rock and I love that record still. Apparently when it was released it wasn’t avant-garde enough for the folks who cared, but it is my favorite early solo work of his and the only LP of his I could never bear to part with.
