QCI Celebrates Quad Cities Interfaith Day
and 30 years of creating a more just society!
Sunday, September 11, 2016, will now be known as Quad Cities Interfaith Day. Official proclamations were given by each of the cities to celebrate the good that QCI has brought to the communities. Our own celebration was held at The Freight House in Le Claire Park on Sunday afternoon with great food, fellowship and futuristic thinking as we prepare for another successful 30 years! We are grateful for our event sponsor: The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers as well as The Crane and Pelican for catering food!

Riding the River Bandits' Giant Wheel for 8 Hours!

Local Community members will ride the Bandits' Giant Wheel to raise money for the Scott County Mental Health Court. Our goal is $10,000, so follow the link to our GoFundMe page, make a donation or share to your social media pages!

Candidates Forum - presented by QCI
Join us on Thursday, September 22 at 6:00 pm for a candidates forum at the UFCW Hall 2411 W. Central Park Ave., Davenport. Candidates for the Scott County Sheriff and Board of Supervisors will be in attendance.

ABRAZOS - The transformational journey of 14 U.S. citizen children, sons and daughters of unauthorized migrants, who travel from Minnesota to Guatemala to meet their grandparents -and in some instances, their siblings- for the first time.

A Funeral for Illinois
Gamaliel of Illinois/Iowa mourned the death of Illinois programs that helped our most vulnerable. We weep for those who have suffered under these cuts. Cuts in education , services for elderly, the disabled and our children. We call on the Governor and legislature to do what is just.

Community ID Survey

QCI and Xlpor intern Christian Marin hosts a meeting with members of St. Mary's Church in Spring to talk about establishing a Community ID for Scott County.

QCI and St Mary's leaders continue the work for Community ID. The task force is building a strategy on how we can make this happen in our area.

QCI Leaders Rally for Immigration Reform

Last Wednesday, on April 10^th, QCI partnered with Casa Guanajuato and held a prayerful action for immigration reform at Casa de los niños in Moline. Alicia Gomez who immigrated to this country as a child, spoke passionately about her experience and the need for reform. "The promise of having an opportunity to make a better life is what has drawn immigrants to the United States since its inception," Gomez said. Kriss Well, Board Member of QCI also spoke at this rally. "We must decriminalize the immigration debate so that undocumented immigrates have a fair chance in obtaining immigration reform; the debate should focus more on issues relating to individual rights, family unity, labor rights, and correcting our present unfair immigration process," Wells said.

One to One Building Relationships to Strengthen Congregations

The One to One training will be held Saturday, April 20th, 2013 from 8:30 am -2:30 pm. The training will be at Broadway Presbyterian Church in Rock Island IL. 710 23rd Street. Relationships cultivate possibilities. It is through relationships that important things happen for your congregation and your community. This training will give you the tools to building powerful relationships within our congregations. The One to One is an intentional, face to face conversation for the purpose of building a relationship and understanding what really matters to that person. The training is free. QCI will provide a light breakfast and lunch. Bring a team of leaders and join us! Registration is requested. "Dream for All" Prayer Vigil

This prayer vigil will be held Wednesday, February 6th, 2013 at 12 noon. Participants will gather at the corner of 2nd and Harrison Street in Davenport, IA in front of the Irish Memorial. QC Interfaith is part of the "Dream for All" campaign, with more than 100 clergy of different faiths gathering across 17 states on Feb. 6. We will come together to call on Congress and the President to act on comprehensive immigration reform.

We encourage all QCI member organization to have at least one representative there to ensure that your perspective is heard. QCI held their 4th annual fundraising breakfast on November 13th, 2012 at St. Ambrose University-Rolgalski Center at 7:30 am. We had people of many faiths come and enjoy breakfast with us. At this one hour event, we "honored our founders" of QCI with plague awards. Those honored are as follows: Rev. Ken Kuenning, Church of Peace, UCC, Rock Island, Rev. William Grimes, Second Baptist Church, Rock Island, Monsignor Marvin Mottet, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport, Justice Thomas Kilbride, and Joseph Smith. Also Loxi Hopkins who received the 2012 Marvin Mottet Leadership Honoree award. We want to recognize our breakfast sponsors. They included St. Ambrose University, Sodexo Catering (St. Ambrose), Lexus of the Quad Cities, Quad City Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, and United Food Commercial Workers Local 431. With all the help from our sponsors, QCI continues to grow and make the Quad Cities a more just society. Thank you to all of you who came to our breakfast and supports what QCI's works for. We thank you all for your donations. QCI raised more than $4000.00, and have added 35 people to our sustaining donor program. QCI Fire of Faith Fall Public Meeting-October 25th

QCI's 2012 public meeting will be held Thursday, October 25th 6:30-8:00 pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish Center - 422 E.10th St. Davenport, IA. The theme this year is Fire of Faith- rekindling our congregation, our economy, our democracy. Local congregations will be gathering to discuss local issues, to plan, and develop strategies on ways to work together to rejuvenate our congregations. This Fire of Faith campaign is our strategic vision and plan for the next three years- a fresh way to look at faith-based community organizing. Congregations have always been the backbone of Gamaliel and QCI. We recognize the central place of faith in all religions. We will use the skills of community organizing to build our congregations in membership, in public presence and in financial strength. When our congregations are strong, QCI is strong and our work for Justice is strong. We invite your congregations to find out more about this campaign and join us for this exciting campaign.
