More will be revealed. And soon.

One thing, however – the mix quality of those snippets I posted, while reasonably good enough for works in progress, aren’t nearly enough to make sound clean – that’s just me exporting audio from Sibelius via the ARIA Player in the Garritan Personal Orchestra instruments I use. Lovely, capurtes the spirit of the piece, but no time at all was spent mixing and arranging (aside from tempo and expression marks in the score).

So, I’ve got the tracks imported into Logic Studio, and I’m mixing now, and hopefully will have something I can share in the next week or so. In the mean time, I’ll be making the score I wrote free of charge to anyone who wants to download it (I still own the copyright), and this piece….needs a bit of an explanation.

I remember holding onto the illusionary chic of being a musician in my teen years. I spent so much time fantasizing and dreaming about being a musician that I did little to actually realize that dream. Now that I’m a little older (and a little balder), it’s gotten much simpler for me:

“Self?”

“Yes?”

“Did you write, perform, practice, or work on music in any form today?”

“Why….yes, I do believe I did!”

“Well then….you are a musician”

We are what we do, not what we dream, or say, or hope, or wish upon wish for. We are our deeds.

And finally, I accidentally collided with a bit of personal folk wisdom today – I’ve discovered that it’s best for me to know what synth patches are on deck rather than stumble upon them, as the results can be disastrous. A new horn section patch found in Kontakt today resulted in the tell-tale trill of that 1980′s Crime Against Man and Nature – Europe’s, “The Final Countdown”. I did not mean to stick this brain worm of a song in my head for half the day long – the musical virus took hold on it’s own

As for myself, however, I’m composing. Writing. Creating. Doing. Living. The resulting work may be of questionable quality more often then I’d like, but if I’m ever to score, I must take notes.

I don’t blog much. Never have. I’ve had the best intentions, but it just ain’t in the cards. When I do write, there will almost certainly be spelling errors and grammatical crimes against nature. In my natural, uncivilized state, I don’t write too much about what I do.

Instead, I Do. And thus, the To Be…Is.

Whatever ends up here, I do hope you find some value in it. Rest assured, for me, the ride was Savored and enjoyed.
