I've been trying to get my hands on an original "Republicans for Voldemort" sticker inspired by this Goats comic but that was in 2003 and only horrible knock-offs are to be found. Sad.

I found another similar sticker on Etsy, not ripped from Goats, that was just as cool by WeirdStickers. There was also a Voldemort - Palin version as well but she's old news and Bachmann is creepy! I just bought one.

School is keeping my brain very busy. When I come home from class there is nothing that could persuade me to study, so I have barely studied at all. I have an A in all my classes though so I guess this method (er..lack of a method?) is working. I'm learning a lot and could go into a hospital today and x-ray any of your lower or upper extremities. Only 3 more weeks until this semester is over...and an even harder one begins.

I haven't done anything crafty for weeks. After class is over all I want to do is veg out with Lily or do something mindless with my friends. I'm not complaining, but doing anything that would involve higher thinking is not going to happen.

I'm moving in a few weeks..like 2 feet to the other side of this duplex. I am happy about this for small reasons, like I won't have to carry groceries up a hill anymore and my potted plants won't scorch because there is actually a small bit of shade on the other porch. I'm also happy to get out of my god awful orange bedroom that I only painted orange to make Brandon happy. Did he care? No. I'm not bitter ;-)

Later this week I'll be adding a few totally new items to my shop, which will all be vegan lip balms made by yours truly. Here is a sneak peak at my favorite two:

Polyjuice Potion inspired lip balm. Other than "goblin piss" HP gives no clues as to what Polyjuice Potion tastes like. So I gave this lip balm a soothing eucalyptus flavor.

Buttbeer flavored lip balm, which I am most excited about. It definitely tastes like a "less sickly butterscotch". Very true to HP! Lily has already eaten an entire tube of this.

I have a lot more concocting to do (more flavors!), not to mention label tweeking, and finally shrink wrapping! Later dudes.

I do not get to shop a lot. Mostly because I get buyer's remorse but also because I'm a little poor. Brandon visited for two weeks and we went to the mall where I bought a necklace and a sweater and now I can't stop thinking about shopping. I'm an addict and now that he's gone I have an insatiable desire to fill his absence with cute shirts, pants, cardigans, sweaters, and cardigans again. That's my psychological excuse at least but it sounds pretty legit.

Instead of shopping now I'm trying to remind myself that if the world really does end this Saturday I won't have to pay for anything. I'm just going to loot the mall. I invite all of my non-believer friends and family to join my posse for safety.
EDIT: A few days after writing this I got my tax money and spent a small portion shopping until I dropped, sort of. It was all online. I got 22 new clothing items... The high still hasn't worn off!!

Recent ATC's

My recently made and favorite ATC's, which are all sadly sent off to their new owners.

This is probably my favorite. It's simple but the skull is hand drawn and pretty accurate. You can't tell, but I hand painted the skull metallic silver. Then that was glued onto Dutch ephemera and outlined in black. Much cooler is person. I did not want to give this away.

This is the first in a series of 7 Deadly Sins. I hand drew the body and then painted it.

This was for an ATC swap featuring our favorite lyric by our favorite band. My favorite band is the Weepies and my favorite lyric is from "The World Spins Madly On". It goes "I thought of you and where you'd gone and the world spins madly on".

Cryptozoology ATC. I did my second favorite cryptid the Lusca, which is a mammoth man eating, ship destroying octopus.

I also really loved this one. It was for Little Red Riding Hood, obviously. I didn't want to give it up. My partner did not seem to like it much. I was disappointed because I hand made vines with clay, hand drew and painted Little Red, and put together her basket.

Voodoo Dolls and Magic Wands

I've joined some Pagan themed groups on Swap-bot. I'm not Pagan myself but I admire the religion for many reasons. It's got some great symbols, stories, and paranormal-esque (magic, spells, etc) beliefs. All of those things make for some neat swaps.

Last month I created an "authentic" magic wand. And tonight (or this morning really..it's 7 AM) I finished my voodoo doll. The wand is complete with a single terminated quartz Arkansas crystal, which all wands must have (apparently..I don't know much about wands). The voodoo doll was themed around "junk" or scraps of things we had. All parts of it had to be made from scraps, which was easy for me since I have a ton. It was themed "Banish the Junk Voodoo Doll". I almost want to keep it and Lily really wants it, but I've mad tons of voodoo dolls so I'll just make another.

I'm pretty proud of both. Here they are for your viewing pleasure:

I actually went outside and found a nice stick. I sanded it, added shimmer pigment to purple paint, and let it dry.

I affixed the crystal to the end with super glue and wrapped wire around it. You can see but I braided this silver/pink Martha Stewart ribbon and wrapped it around the base of the wire wrapped crystal. Then I added a silver gemstone.

The handle is made with this metallic silver Premo polymer clay. More braided ribbon and gemstones, plus a glass butterfly pendant.

A Fan Page for Everyone

On Facebook there is a fan page for EVERY THING. Some pages have 1 million "likes" and others have 4. But rest assured if you hate bed skirts there is a fan page called "I hate bed skirts". I've come across some pretty funny ones, some that I do indeed "like", and others that are just odd.

I've been jotting down the nuttier ones to present here.

The top 10 WTF Fan Pages on Facebook

1. "A FRIEND WOULD CATCH YOU IF YOU JUMPED OF A CLIFF BUT A TRUE FRIEND WOULD JUMP WITH YOU AND BUT A TRUELY GOOD AND BEST FRIEND WOULD BE AT THE TOP SAYING JUMP B*TCH JUMP AND PUSH YOU OFF"

This was obviously made by a drunk 12 year old. I know this person was 12 because of the * in bitch. I know he/she was drunk because it makes no sense. I'm not sure why a "truely good and best friend" would be pushing people off cliffs. That sounds more like a homicidal arch nemesis.

2. "That one girl, the one that is always hanging out with some of her millions of friends, the one that wears thick eyeliner the one, who acts older than she really is, the one that you wanna be friends with so badly, yeah - she's wither gonna end up in a trunk, and raped or end up with HIV, or dead in 3 years because of drugs. damn. still wish you were friends?"

Uh... This seems oddly specific. At first you read it thinking "oh okay, he or she is conveying that you want to be friends with the unique/interesting people in life". I guess they ARE trying to say that but at the same time the message is thrown off because I'm imagining with horror as the skinny, beautiful, popular girl is high on meth, raped, diagnosed with HIV, and left for dead in a trunk.

3. "i fingered ur nan"

I have to admit that this is so odd that I laughed. It has no "likes".

4. " LONG BUT YOU NEED TO READ. NOT CHAINMAIL. I'm a guy. I have a six pack. I won't treat you wrong. When I tell you I love you, I mean it. I'll call you beautiful when you're not wearing makeup. Looks don't matter. Personality captures my heart. I love a girl with true feelings. I hate it when girls act dumb. My family, is your family, hang out with them. It kills me when you flirt with other guys."

This wouldn't have been SO bad (while stilling be pretty terrible) if the guy hadn't casually mentioned "I have a six pack". Now you're just bragging. Also, please don't tell me who to hang out with!

5. "I dont give a sh*t. I dont need friends, I got my dog, lotion, kleenex, and a tub of icecream! :D"

At first I figured this was geared toward teenage boys. Kleenex and lotion pointed to that but I'm taking the dog into account now..and I'm not getting it. Also, isn't a tub of ice cream stereotypically a girls thing? What is going on here?!

6. "See that pregnant teen over there? She was raped. See that guy doing his homework from last night? He convinced his friend out of suicide. See that man with the ugly scars? He fought for our country. See that guy who is sobbing? His mother is dying. See that show-off guy? He's standing up to bullies. See that fat woman? She has a health problem. Don't judge people. You don't know their life."

I get the point of this one too but it makes me want to punch kittens. It's stupid and we shouldn't go around assuming people have been raped.

This is a fairly cliche scene. The jock picks on the nerd. Years later the nerd turns out to be the jocks boss. This fan page scenario strikes me as odd because the nerds ultimate fantasy is to own a McDonald's.

ChaCha

Last week I applied at ChaCha for a guide job. For the elderly and those living under a rock, ChaCha is an online/SMS service where you can send ANY question by texting 242-242 (CHA-CHA). Once you send the question it quickly goes through a few steps to categorize the question and then onto a guide, or answerer. The guide then quickly searches for a valid answer (while citing their source). All in all, it's this clusterfeez of google searching at top speeds for whoever texted the question.

After applying I had to take a test that showed my competence, which I passed. Then there was mandatory training videos plus quizzes. And finally there was a mock version of what real questions would be like. I passed all of them and am now a guide! I earn 10 cents to 16 cents depending on the question. My speciality category is women's health.

I have to admit, I get pretty stressed and some of the questions are ridiculous. I was just asked (though it wasn't in question format) "How to perform felaschio". It's actually pretty difficult to explain fellatio, cite your source, and do it all within a few minutes or less. I also just got a question about purple nipples.

Since those questions seem silly, you'd think it would be easier to answer. But in order to keep your stats up (and to keep your job) you need to have a valid source for each question. It's quite difficult to get any valid sources about purple nipples AND answer in a timely manner.

Send your questions to 242-242 and give me more work! I get paid by the question :)

Scrubs.

Today was my Radiology orientation and it felt like..weird. It was a mix between the feeling I had during vacation Bible school for many summers in a row and college orientation, which makes sense. It was completely grown up though, thankfully. At SIUE we played games and had to have our parents attend, were supposed to stay in the dorms, and had time to "hang out". It was terrible. Now I got to go alone, all the information pertained to me (no dorms!!), and out of 44 students only 3 mom's tagged along.

The set up they had was interesting and I really liked it. There are 8 lab groups with which we will be with nearly all the time. Most groups had 6 members but mine only has 4 because 1 girl didn't come and I have no idea what happened to the 6th member. The only boy in our lab group, Nick, brought his mom. I think he's still in high school. The other group members are Tracy, Cally, and me. Tracy is older 40-50 and Cally is probably my age. I'm glad my group is small.

I have all my classes with them this summer and we have our own lab class (just us) every Monday night until...10 pm. My Monday classes start at 9 am and end at 10 pm. Yikes. My Wednesday classes start at 9 am and end at 6 pm. Still pretty steep but it's only 8 weeks until it changes again.

The attendance policy is incredibly strict. Basically, we can't miss any days or be late. There are emergency days but all our teachers and the hospital we work at have to be notified in advance. If we miss then we run the risk of being dropped from the program, which means a lot of trouble. So for the next 2 years, including summers, I won't be vacationing or skipping class for the hell of it.The grading policy is also really strict. Your first C grade will land you in probation. Your second C (whether in the first semester or not) will get your punted from the program. Crazy! The coordinator did note that if you can get into the program then you can graduate from the program.

Our scrubs are the brightest shade of purple! They're really pretty. Along with the uniform comes like 10 million extra parts. We have to have a patch on every uniform, a dosimeter (for measuring how much radiation we're exposed to), a badge, a lab coat, and these expensive white shoes. One uniform plus shoes is $300. It's pretty heft considering we're supposed to have 2 or 3. In reality though we're getting a $40,000 education for significantly less, so it's not terrible. I have no idea how I'm going to buy the uniform though. I have some time still.

Boring dress clothes

Before class starts this June we have to job shadow. I'm assigned to a hospital in Granite City, which I have to call tomorrow. I also have to get all these medical tests done, like TB and some blood tests or something. Not looking forward to it. Apparently the hep B vaccine is optional, which isn't usually the case. I also have to buy dress clothes for the job shadow. We have to wear "dress pants", which I haven't worn since I worked at Dierberg's when I was 16. This program is expensive!

It's definitely worth it though. I'm glad this Spring I get the ball rolling rather than do all my gen. eds again!

I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business.

If there was ever a sound I grew up to it would have to be the melodic voice of Ace Enders. Whether it was The Early November, I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business, or Ace Enders and a Million Different People his voice was always there. I remember being 13 wearing gray cotton shorts and a pink t-shirt with an elephant on it begging my mom to buy me the For All of This EP. We went to Best Buy that day and in exchange for washing her car that afternoon I got the cd.

Since then I've seen Ace play a few times but took a hiatus from him for awhile because his wife's tweets/blog posts really irritated me. She seems like a perfectly nice person but I don't like knowing any extraneous details about Ace otherwise his music means less to me or maybe it applies to me less, since I know what he's singing about. So I no longer follow her blog or subscribe to her tweets, but I do follow Ace.

He's is the only musician I've ever known, with a rather large following, that stays true to the music. He's posted entire albums on the internet to download free of charge. He's also released an album that you could pay whatever you wanted for. I think the minimum was 1 cent and the maximum was $100. Now he has a "pick what you pay" tour, which I just bought a ticket to. I'm excited to see him again.

The Etsy shop I just came across has me wigging out. Okay, that's lame considering I'm about to talk about wigs..

The shop is called Wigs by Tiffany DeMichelle and they are amazing. I never had the desire to own or wear wig and now I do. Not only does she make plain jane hair colored wigs but she does hot pink, light pink, grape, and the list goes on. I'm tempted to cut my hair short and buy up all her wigs. Best of all, you can use heat on them, unlike cheapy wigs.
