I got an email from Rite Aid about the recent Novartis recall. I was able to take my stash of recalled Excedrin to Rite Aid and got a Merchandise Gift Card for over $20! (yep, I had quite a stash going on! haha). That was a pretty good deal considering I got it almost free with coupons. A couple of bottles didn't scan, so I kept them, it was the green box 24ct caplets maybe I bought them at Walmart or Target? When I asked for my refund, the cashier (who knows I'm a couponer) called the manager over and asked her, "How do we know what she actually paid for them?", the manager replied, "Just scan it, and that's how much she'll get back". LOL. Anyway.....here's what the email read:

Dear Rite Aid Customer,

We are writing to inform you that Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. is voluntarily recalling all lots of select bottle sizes of Excedrin® and NoDoz® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier, as well as Bufferin® and Gas-X Prevention® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2013 or earlier, in the United States.

We are taking this action as a precautionary measure, because the products may contain stray tablets, capsules, or caplets from other products, or contain broken or chipped tablets. We are not aware of any adverse events reported with the issues leading to the recall. However, we believe that a comprehensive recall as a precautionary measure is in the best interest of consumers who trust and rely on our products. If you have any questions or are experiencing an adverse event, you should contact your physician or heathcare provider as soon as possible. Consumers should also report the adverse event to the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 888-477-2403 (available Monday-Saturday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time).
