The students are selected based on their academic standing at the end of their sophomore year. Junior Marshals are selected each academic year according to their overall GPA after their first two years of high school. The top 20 students academically in the junior class earn the title of Junior Marshal based on their performance outlined in the selection process.

MINT HILL, NC – The Queens Grant High School Stallions have added to their sports complex while upgrading existing facilities and athletic fields.

The charter school has made some significant investments in their athletic facilities to be able to attract more student-athletes and become more competitive while offering an excellent academic alternative in a small campus atmosphere.

MINT HILL, NC – Three local Fire Departments participated in a fire burning training session at Queens Grant High School’s new property site. The Mint Hill Fire Department, Matthews Fire Department, and the school’s neighbor, Idlewild Fire Department all contributed to the exercise.

MINT HILL, NC – An average day at Queen’s Grant High School this fall begins in the carpool lane, where staff with iPads and thermometers greet arriving students.  “Each iPad is already set up with the Google Form that we have to ask them each day,” says Principal Josh Swartzlander, referring to questions about whether students have tested positive for COVID-19 or had extended contact with someone who has.  “When there’s a huge rush, I say, I’ll check all your temps and then go through each question, and they can follow along with me.  We have one staff member here,” continues Swartzlander, gesturing to the student parking lot, “one to navigate traffic, another one up there to make sure we don’t miss anybody.”

If it sounds complicated, it’s because it is.  Yet it’s only one piece of the large and complex puzzle that allows Queen’s Grant students to be on campus for two days a week while their counterparts at schools like Independence, Butler, and Rocky River will remain remote for most of the first semester.

(CNN Business)When students at Queen’s Grant High School in Matthews, North Carolina, return to class in late August, they’ll notice a purple glow emanating from the vents as they walk down thehallway. The charter school has installed UV lights into its HVAC systems as part of an effort to eliminate viruses and other bacteria in the air.

“We rely on the student population coming in to stay open, so it was important to do everything we can to make sure our students are and feel safe,” said Queen’s Grant High School principal Josh Swartzlander, who said the school will also require students and teachers to wear protective gear. “We enrolled 20 new students right after we made the announcement.”

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) announced Monday that it will lift the current dead period on athletics effective June 15. However, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, as well as Queens Grant High School, have decided not to resume athletic activities until July 6.

MINT HILL, NC – Queen’s Grant High School offers an opportunity for students to obtain their high school diploma and take college-level courses to earn credit toward a degree. The dual enrollment program is free for students, however, the student’s family is responsible for paying all student fees.

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Although the new school year is months away, plans are in the works right now to make sure the coronavirus doesn’t interrupt the classroom again. When students return to Queen’s Grant High School in Matthews, it’ll feel a lot different. “We’re really excited to get back, but we want to make sure we take every precaution necessary,” said Josh Swartzlander, the school’s principal.
