Imagine coming back from a family vacation and your husband telling you he is leaving you. Well this is exactly what happened to Lorena Bathey in her book, Happy Beginnings: How I Became My Own Fairy Godmother.

It is about getting divorce after 11 years of marriage. How to find and love yourself again. Married friends you thought were friends turn on you as they believe you will try to take there husbands. Yup, evening in our 30's its like being in high school again. You see who your real friends are and how strong a woman you are inside. Lorena shows you that being alone is alright.

My favorite parts in the book are:

Pg. 154 "This change in my life had happened so I could find not a new man, but so I could find a new woman - me." (This should be a woman's motto)

Pg. 160 "I needed to start anew making my own celebrations." ..."Our celebrations would have to be separate. It was not up to me to create fun for him. I was not responsible for how he handled his life. I was only responsible for my children and myself."

Pg. 167 "Women today are supposed to be it all. We must have the cleanest house, the best dressed kids, and we should be thin and beautiful. We must have a wonderful marriage, our dog should be adequately walked, and our children should be excelling at school. We should never tire. We should be able to talk about politics at the drop of a hat. And we should satisfy every sexual whim of our husband. All this is on a very low intake level of sleep, affection, caressing, communication, or pats on the back." (Now I know I am not the only woman who feels this way)

The coolest part is she started a support group for divorce women and anyone can join even if they are married. A community for women to support and learn from one another. I have to be honest when I applied to review this book I thought it was for kids. I wanted it so I could read a bedtime story to them. I based it on the cover because of the fairy. That is not gonna happen now. This book is truly a fairy tale closely resembling our own lives. It shows that when you look in the mirror you should be happy with what you see and love yourself. If not, you can change it so you will be happy. It is like taking your old living room and putting a new coat of paint on your walls. Wa-la (Wand in hand) a new living room. Something so simple that can change and brighten your outlook.

I would recommend this book to anyone going through a divorce. It is insightful and heartwarming. You can purchase Happy Beginning on Amazon.

(April 2, 2013) – When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory”—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

“Finding Nemo” won the 2003 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature; the film was nominated for three additional Oscars® (Best Writing, Original Screenplay; Best Music, Original Score; Best Sound Editing). It was also nominated for a Golden Globe® Award for Best Motion Picture–Comedy or Musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute named “Finding Nemo” among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release, “Finding Nemo” was the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time. It’s currently the fourth highest grossing animated film worldwide. The film has more than 16 million Likes on Facebook, and Dory—with more than 24 million—is the most Liked individual character from a Disney or Disney•Pixar film.

DeGeneres’ distinctive comic voice has resonated with audiences from her first stand-up comedy appearances through her work today on television, in film and in the literary world. 5 Areas To Avoid Getting The Flu

This winter season has been tough for everyone due to the Flu. Everyone knows of someone that has the flu or had it. You may even know people who have gotten it multiple times this season already.

Five places you should try to avoid so you will not get sick this season:

Touch screen self service computers.

You might ask why think about it someone is carrying the flu sneezes and then touches the screen passing there germs on to you. The screen can be found at the ATM, Supermarket, etc. Use gloves when coming in contact with one and hand sanitizer.

2. An airplane bathroom.

Think about 50+ passengers in an airplane. enough said.

3. Refillable soap dispenser.

Germs attach to things that you touch and linger. You do not clean the dispenser and multiple people touch them. These dispenser can be found in restaurants, cafeterias, mall etc. It is touched many times throughout the day so please use a napkin or paper towel when you are in contact with them.

4. Restaurant tables

Tables come into contact with customers daily. Sometimes the tables are not cleaned every time someone new sits down. Think about the mall when you go eat the next time. The tables are dirty and germs linger. If you find a matron that cleans the tables ask them to wipe it down for you or carry your own Lysol wipes. Every bit helps to kill germs.

5. Touching grocery carts.

Again we sneeze and cough into our hands and you use your hands to push the shopping cart. Your babies sometimes bite onto the handle bars. You get the picture. This is where carrying wipes with you helps. Keep your gloves on, once home if you can disinfect them do so.

Please remember to cover your mouth when you sneeze and cough. If possible wear a mask and disposable gloves. Carry a hand sanitizer with you and lysol wipes. Every bit that we can do to stop the spread of germs will help stop the spread of the flu.

Santa Ice Cream Cake

I reviewed the Santa cake for my Christmas dinner party at my home. Since I was running late, I picked this one up so I was not able to personalize it with my favorite flavor. I finished all my Xmas shopping early but Xmas dinner is another event by itself. I went to the store 4x because I kept forgetting something for the dinner table. Now you don't have to forget put this on your list and bring it to your party.

This Santa cake was filled with chocolate inside. Lots of chocolate. It was a little too much for my taste and I love chocolate. The red part of Santa was too sweet but the rest was just the right amount. I ate the tip of Santa's hat. That part had regular cream frosting not ice cream. It surprised me as I thought it was ice cream all around.

I haven't met a person who doesn't like candy. It one of the main things people give out on Halloween. Since becoming a mom, I have received tons of advice about reducing the intake of candy my children eat. I have a sweet tooth and I'm sure we all do but have you tried candy that is truly good for you. I got the chance to review SparX candy in Citrus and Fruit flavors from Moms Meet.

I tasted the Fruit favor and it reminded me of sweet tarts. It was sweet but not over powering. It left a lingering taste in my tongue after eating them. At my Christmas eve dinner with family and friends, I will have a small bowl with these goodies for all to eat.
