Wednesday Wait Loss 505

Jennifer Fulton — Wed, 07 Oct 2026 11:00:00 +0000

WWL is a place where you can share photos of quilts you’re working on and get encouragement to finish them from our Wednesday Wait Loss group! As you can see, I’ve been doing this for years and so our group is strong, loves to share, and is very welcoming.

Here’s how it works. Every week I start out by sharing what I’ve been working on. Then I share the projects from the previous week that most inspired me so that they will inspire you too! This is followed by the actual link up where you can share a photo of your current project. If you are new to linking up, I have a separate page that steps you through the whole process.

What I've been up to

I’ve been working ahead in anticipation of my week-long teaching cruise coming up later this month. I designed and made my November and December Quilt Block Mania blocks!

Yesterday, the October QBM block debuted here on my blog. The theme was Cozy, and I designed a Hot Chocolate block.

I’ll be participating in a Holiday Makes pattern bundle in early November so I spent some time polishing my patterns for that.

I’m also participating in the ByAnnie SewPINK Blog Hop for breast cancer awareness this month, so I spent some time over the weekend sewing up my project. I can’t wait to share it because it turned out so beautiful.

My day is October 12th, but you can visit the participating designers (one per day) now!

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Melisa @ Pinker n Punkin Quilting and Stitching shared several projects, including her quilting on Oh My Stars and Pumpkins. Isn’t it perfect for the season? I just love it and hope Melisa gets it quilted soon.

Next, Margo MY Quilts and Crafts shared two pillowcase projects she’s working on. I’m not sure if she’s making pieced and quilted pillowcases or quilts out of pillowcases, but I do know this sure is lovely and totally Margo’s modern style.

Turid @ Den Syende Himmel shared some models she’s sewn up for a beginner sewer class. All the models were pretty, but I especially liked these cute key rings. What a simple yet beautiful gift they would make, and what a scrapbuster!

And finally, Gail @ Quilting Gail shared her loathing for applique. Loathing turned to love however, after Gail discovered all she needed to so was to do applique more often. Soon, she had an incredible collection of applique projects, including this beautiful Christmas tree skirt she designed.

Time to link up!

It’s time to link up your projects - whether finished or just begun, we want to see them!

Quilt Block Mania - October is Cozy

Jennifer Fulton — Tue, 06 Oct 2026 13:00:00 +0000

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Cozy.

This is my seventh year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How to Get the Free Block at the end of this post.

I’ve been making a series of Christmas blocks, so making something cozy for the Christmas theme seemed only natural—but what?

I started by picturing a warm fire on a crispy Wintery night. And what’s better when snuggling by a fire than a lovely cup of hot chocolate?

Of course, everyone knows that hot cocoa is a great treat anytime, especially as a pick-me-up after a long day quilting. So you could make this block as a mini quilt for your sewing room, using your favorite colors instead of Christmas fabrics.

If you would like to make a quilt using the Christmas version of Hot Chocolate, there are other blocks you can collect for that future quilt. You’ll find these and other Christmas block patterns in my shop.

Celebrate

Christmas Memories

Gingerbread People

Ice Skates

Warming by the Fire

Christmas Cocktail

I call my block Hot Chocolate. It uses traditional piecing and fusible machine applique. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How to Get the Free Block at the end of this post.

There are lots of designers in this hop so be sure to visit all of them for your free pattern. Here are links to all the blocks in the Quilt Block Cozy Series:

What I've been up to

I spent the week working on patterns for my upcoming Island Batik collection. Almost done! The collection will be debut in January. It’s good to feel ready. Here’s some inspiration.

Over the weekend, I attended my high school reunion. It was wonderful to see everyone again!

Yesterday, I published my review of Electric Quilt’s Next Steps class. If you’ve been thinking about using EQ to help you choose fabrics and to make tweaks to a quilt pattern, read my reviews on the fastest way to learn!

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Soma @ Ink Torrents Graphics who shared some art journal pages from a new art challenge. This one was made using fabric scraps! What a lovely result.

And finally, Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing shared this pretty Maine quilt. Isn’t this a great way to commemorate your home state? Love it!

Electric Quilt Next Steps Class - A Review

Jennifer Fulton — Mon, 28 Sep 2026 11:00:00 +0000

As you may know, I design my quilt patterns using Electric Quilt. Not only does EQ make it easy to made adjustments to a design until I like what I see, but I can also lay out my actual fabrics in the design to see exactly how the quilt will look when done.

I was recently asked by Electric Quilt if I’d like to help bring their online classes to your attention by writing a review of each one. I finished the Beginner class last month and you can read my review here.

Now I’d like to share my thoughts on class # 2, which is called Next Steps.

Next Steps begins with a quick review of EQ, including shortcuts which are always handy! Next you’ll be taught how to create an on-point quilt. During this segment, you’ll edit a pieced block and place it in your quilt design. I already know how to create and edit quilt blocks, but still I learned a few tidbits here and there that will save me time in the future. Being self-taught, I’m finding that these classes help to fill in the “spaces.”

Next, you’ll learn how to create a horizontal strip quilt. Along the way you’ll learn how to use the Randomize and Spraycan tools to color your quilt. I find these tools real handy for making adding fabrics from a collection to my quilt designs, and to make small adjustments to one or two fabrics after that.

Next, you learn how to create a vertical strip quilt. They used a bargello as their example and I loved the end result!

Next, you learn how to create a quilt with a custom set. A custom set simply means that you are placing blocks on the quilt as you like—and not in rows or vertical columns. This is a real cool setting for any quilt, especially for t-shirt quilts (in which the blocks are different sizes) and orphan block quilts.

Next, you’ll learn how to create an applique block. This tutorial is short and to the point, covering the basics you’ll need to start drawing your own appliques. If you’ve never used a drawing program before, you may need to watch the video a few times and practice a bit on your own to feel comfortable.

Finally, in the last segment, you’ll learn how to import fabrics so they are sized properly in EQ. If you download EQ image files from a fabric manufacturer, you may not need to do this, but the tricks you’ll learn in this part will show you how to properly import a panel and other fabric you may find elsewhere on the internet.

All in all, I found the Next Steps class to be the perfect follow-up after learning the basics of Electric Quilt. It takes you beyond the basics to a level where your creativity can grow.

If you own EQ, their classes are definitely the best way to learn how to use it. You’ll find yourself referring to the videos again and again as you design your quilts.

Purchase EQ here—I highly recommend their Starter Box. View their classes here.

I’ll be skipping October to prepare for my upcoming quilting cruise. In November, I’ll be taking the Master Skills class. I’m excited to see what is covered in this next class, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

What I've been up to

I am working ahead before my teaching cruise in October.

I finished the Quilt Block Mania blocks for October and November—designing, writing the pattern, and making them. Boy do I feel good about that!

Next, I began sewing my quilt for the All Indiana Shop Hop next year. I have a few more weeks to get it done and quilted, then shipped to them for photography. The top is almost done and it is sooooo cute! I love it.

On Sunday, I hosted a virtual retreat for my quilting members. We had such fun we ran overtime. ❤️

The Quilters Paradise Fall Summit began on Monday, but it’s not too late to enjoy the free videos!

I’m teaching how to use AccuQuilt to cut out your quilts. Many of my patterns are AccuQuilt Ready, meaning they include AccuQuilt cutting instructions, but most patterns do not do that. This session will show you how to convert your patterns for use with AccuQuilt.

Starting TOMORROW and running through Monday (9/24-9/28), I’ll be participating in the Autumn Haunts pattern bundle. If your favorite season includes crisp leaves, cozy stitching, pumpkins, and a touch of Halloween magic...this bundle was made for you.

Included in the bundle is my Fall Flight table runner pattern.

Grab yours TOMORROW before it vanishes!

🍂 Get the bundle here: https://inquiringquilter--dragonflysquiltingdesignstudio.thrivecart.com/autumnhaunts/

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Nancy @ Grace and Peace Quilting shared several quilts, including this one she quilted for her customer Patty. What a pretty quilt! I love the quilting Nancy did on this.

Next, Preeti @ Sew Preeti Quilts shared her latest quilt, Newington. I love this modern holiday quilt and the bright batiks Preeti chose for it.

Alycia @ Quilty Girl shared her latest QOV top. Alycia supports QOV by making many tops. She also shared a photo of some recipients. What a great way to honor someone’s service!

And finally, Karen @ Quilts Etc shared her progress on her Timeless quilt. I love the fabrics she’s using here—certainly timeless! There’s a lot of piecing as you can see, but Karen is doing an excellent job with it. Let’s cheer her on to a fabulous finish!

What I've been up to

I finished watching my second Electric Quilt class and will be getting my review of it written soon. If you’ve ever been the least been interested in learning EQ, be sure to watch for my upcoming post!

I made this adorable Flexi Bag as a test for Sonia Spence and I can’t wait to fill it! The pattern will be released 9/25, so be sure to visit her shop then to purchase the pattern, which comes in four sizes.

I was recently asked by Lumin Fabrics if I wanted to recolor some of my quilt patterns using their upcoming Tide & Loom and White Owl Textiles collections. I’m happy to say they loved them and accepted 7 for their next catalog!

I just finished updating the covers of these quilt patterns with the recolorings for my wholesale shop. I also took the opportunity to redo one of my older patterns, Summer Social, to include 3 sizes! These versions of my patterns will not be released until January, so expect a big sale then. I can tell you though, these fabrics are so pretty and inspiring! I hope you’ll look for them in your lqs in January.

I’ve been working ahead in anticipation of the week I’ll be away teaching on a cruise. Last week, I finished the designs for my October and November Quilt Block Mania blocks. They really turned out well and can’t wait to share them with you!

I’ll be participating as a designer for the All Indiana Shop Hop next year and I just got the fabric. It’s so stinking cute! You’ll love it I know and my design. I’ve got the quilt cut out and I’ll start piecing it tomorrow.

The Quilters Paradise Fall Summit is absolutely free and will be held 9/21-9/25. Can’t make it? You can always purchase an All Access Pass for lifetime access.

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Melisa @ Pinker n Punkin Quilting and Stitching who shared her blocks for Lala’s Irish Chain QAL. There is something so sweet and nostalgic with her choice of yellow and red. I’ve fallen in love! Can’t wait until you finish this one Melisa!

Next, Karen @ Quilts Etc shared several quilts her daughter made and I just love them! Up first is Bird Brain. I just adore this whimsical quilt full of adorable birds. Wonderful!

And finally, Karen also shared this Pyramid quilt by her daughter Melanie. To me, this is both vintage and modern. I simply love it! Thanks for letting your mom share your work, Melanie.

What I've been up to

I finished recording a video for an upcoming holiday summit. For the summit, I will demonstrate how to make this adorable Elf Hat pillow. Didn’t it turn out cute?

The Holiday summit will happen later this year, but right now you can sign up for the Quilters Paradise Fall Summit! The summit is absolutely free and will be held 9/21-9/25 with an encore 9/27-9/28. Can’t make it? You can always purchase an All Access Pass for lifetime access.

I am beginning my prep for the ByAnnie SewPINK blog hop, taking place next month. I’m a 2-year breast cancer survivor as you know and participating in the hop is important to me. The hop takes place all month long, and my day is October 12th. I hope you’ll drop by and support breast cancer research.

I finished making 66 Make and Take kits for my cruise students! I included cuts from my Reflections and Flower Pot collections in the kits, which will make this adorable fabric cube. I use mine for my Clover mini clips. I made a second one and use it to keep my scissor snips, seam ripper and extra bobbin nearby while sewing (my seam ripper especially likes to roll into hidden places, so I’m really loving how this cube prevents that.)

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Diann @ Little Penguin Quilts who shared her recent Patchwork Hearts quilt. Diann made the blocks using the RSC color of the month. The result is a lovely rainbow!

Next, Alycia @ Quilty Girl shared her Pringles quilt. Simple and so beautifully scrappy!

Leeanna @ Not Afraid of Color shared several projects, including this lovely top in progress. Such a simple block, but what makes this so special is Leanna’s sense of color. I just love this mix of cool colors with little pops of red to warm it up. Lovely!

Next, Preeti @ Sew Preeti Quilts shared this beautiful quilt, made for a friend’s daughter. The friend asked for a design that would reflect the bride’s new home in Colorado, and Pretti combined bits from her Arboretum and Moon Over the Mountains patterns to create this gem.

Angie @ A Quilting Reader’s Garden shared the pretty Heart blocks she made for a guild challenge. Angie plans to make them into a small table runner. Won’t it be perfect for February?

And finally, Turid @ Den Syende Himmel shared this beautifully scrappy quilt, made from upcycled shirts, dresses, and sheets. Turid hand quilted this little beauty.

What I've been up to

WWL is 500! I’ve hosted this link up now for 500 weeks. It’s been fun and inspiring! Let’s go for 500 more.

I presented my Quilting with Batiks lecture to the Muncie Quilters Guild, and it was such fun! There’s nothing better than sharing my love of batiks and how best to use them. Batiks are perfect for certain quilting techniques such as FPP, and are easy to use in quilts once you know how.

If you’d like me to present my lecture at your guild (either in person or through Zoom), you’ll find more information here.

I am teaching at the upcoming Quilter’s Paradise Fall 2026 Summit, and boy is it going to be a good one! Over 40 top-notch quilting instructors will be presenting workshops over the course of five days. The Summit is free, with videos available for viewing for 48 hours.

Grab your seat here 🫱https://masteryroute.com/quilters?orid=197554&opid=39

My new Quilt Block Mania block debuted yesterday. The theme was Harvest and I made a Cherry Tomato block!

I started prepping a Make and Take kit for my cruise students. They will be making these small fabric cubes for keeping their sewing notions in. Aren’t they cute?

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Kat @ Scrapbox Quilts shared her quilted panel from Angela Waters’ Arcs, Curves, and Points challenge. What a great way to practice your free-motion quilting! Isn’t this lovely?

Next, Julie @ Julie’s Quilts and Costumes shared a Kaleidoscope top she made using 30’s reproduction fabrics. What a great showcase for them! I love 30’s fabrics and this makes me want to make a quilt with them soon. So pretty!

Karen @ Quilts Etc shared several projects, including these lovely Flowering Snowball blocks (on the right). Made using RSC colors, don’t the blocks look wonderful displayed together?

And finally, Margo @ MY Quilts and Crafts shared her newly finished denim quilt, She’s a Star. Margo has submitted the quilt to Quilt National. Let’s wish her good luck!

Quilt Block Mania - September is Harvest

Jennifer Fulton — Tue, 01 Sep 2026 13:00:00 +0000

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Harvest.

I’ve been making a series of farming blocks, so making something for the Harvest theme seemed only natural—but what? I love tomatoes and grow them in every summer, so that was a good option. There are so many tomato quilt blocks though that I almost decided to make something else. Then the idea of cherry tomatoes came to mind!

If you love all things farming as much I do, you might want to collect other blocks for a future quilt. You’ll find these patterns in my shop.

What I've been up to

I am almost finished with the top I’m sewing for my teaching cruise. I’ve got everything in rows and am sewing the center. Then I need to add the borders.

This is Broken Road. I can’t wait to teach it on the cruise. It’s filled with tropical sunshine.

I attended the Free Motion Quilting Summit hosted by Mary Davis @ Mary Go Round Quilts, which was fun. I know how to quilt so I was mostly just looking for tips and edge-to-edge motifs I could quilt on my home machine. I walked away with plenty of ideas, so it was worth the time to watch the videos.

I spent the weekend helping my daughter with her annual birthday bash, a weekend spent with friends and family, playing video games, eating great food, staying up way too late and having fun!

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Soma @ Ink Torrents Graphics shared several projects, but this pencil case she designed caught my eye. Isn’t it wonderful?

Soma also shared her analysis of the difference in water color papers using this gorgeous owl painting. Don’t you love it?

Next, Julie @ Julie’s Quilts and Costumes shared her latest finish—Rail Fence Stairsteps. A simple block, but what makes this quilt so pretty for me is the play of lights and darks that create a dimension to the steps.

Melisa @ Pinker n Punkin Quilting and Stitching shared several projects, including these two cuties. The first is her Autumn Blessings cross stitch. Puts me in a fall mood.

Another project Melisa shared was her Bee the Sunshine cross stitch. Adorable!

Next, Allison @ A Messy House is a Sign of a Happy Quilter who also shared several projects, including her version of my Zodiac block pattern. I love how she used embroidery to define the Zodiac constellation! Great idea Allison. Allison used the leftovers from her Zodiac block to make a memory quilt from her visit to Emily Bay. Great quilt!

We had two new visitors last week, and I’d like to welcome them to Wednesday Wait Loss. Up first is Ila @ Kiss My Stash who shared her latest quilt finish — Jagged X. So gorgeous! Love the stripe in that outer border. Great job Ila! Welcome to WWL.

And finally, Jocelyn @ Happy Cottage Quilter shared the beginning of this adorable pumpkin project. Will it be a table runner or a quilt? Doesn’t matter—it’s just so darn cute! I simply love the variety of fabrics she’s using here to make her pumpkins, especially that plaid! Welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss, Jocelyn!

What I've been up to

I finished my Beginners class in Electric Quilt and wrote my review yesterday. I have to admit I was reminded of a few shortcuts I’d forgotten about, so the class was worth taking even for an experienced user.

I was asked recently to render some of my quilt designs in new fabric collections coming out soon from Tide & Loom and White Owl Fabrics.

One of those quilts was Summer Social, a pattern that needed refreshing. I completely updated the pattern to my new pattern design, adding two additional sizes to the pattern during the process. I’m so happy with the new look!

I can’t share the new version of Summer Social with it’s White Owl collection, but I can share these versions—the fall version was made with Island Batiks and the summery version with a Dear Stella collection. Both are out of print but they do show the versatility of the design.

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Vicki @ Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting who shared several projects, including this lovely Maple Leaf quilt. I love those rich autumn colors. Now I’m in the mood for fall!

Next, Kat @ Scrapbox Quilts shared this cute mini quilt for Lil Bear Hugs. You know I’m a sucker for purple! Isn’t it pretty? What a great charity to support—read about it on her blog.

And finally, Melisa @ Pinker n Punkin Quilting and Stitching shared several projects as well, including her Roll n Bake gingerbread mini and her free Autumn Beginnings cross stitch. You must go and see how the design finishes out—it’s so cute and perfect for fall. As Melisa says, it would only take two shakes of a lamb’s tail to finish.

Electric Quilt Beginner Class - A Review

Jennifer Fulton — Tue, 18 Aug 2026 11:00:00 +0000

I design my quilt patterns using Electric Quilt and I simply love it! ❤️

Not only does EQ make it easy to tweak a design, I can lay out my actual fabrics in my quilt to see exactly how it will look when done. Before I cut into my gorgeous fabrics, I have a complete plan of not only how my quilt will look, but also how much yardage I will need.

When I decided recently to make a Kaffe Fasset version of my Thumbprint design, I used EQ to help me plan!

I was recently asked by Electric Quilt if I’d like to help bring their online classes to your attention by writing a review. I love their product and thought this would be a great way to introduce EQ to my readers.

Over the next few months, I’ll be taking one online class at a time and sharing my opinion of it. I started with the Beginner’s class and even though I’m way past the beginner level, I enjoyed the class.

Each class is broken down into short video segments. So you can easily carve out the time to learn EQ even if you only have a few minutes. Project files are supplied so you can follow along with the video and really learn how to do things yourself using Electric Quilt. This makes the classes very interactive and fun!

There’s a place online where you can share the quilts you create if you like. You can also browse the quilts other students have made.

I wish they’d had this class around when I was learning EQ! The Beginner’s class contains everything you need to know to get started creating your first quilts in Electric Quilt—how to create a quilt using standard blocks, how to create your own unique blocks, and how to fill your quilt design with color or fabrics. The class even shows you how to import fabrics from a manufacturer so you can see exactly how your quilt is going to look!

You’ll also learn the basics for printing out your designs and yardage amounts, and the pieces you’ll need to cut for each block in your design. It’s a very comprehensive class that will leave you feeling confident and free to play!

Are you looking to purchase Electric Quilt? The best deal by far is their Starter Box, which includes the software, a Beginner Lesson book, the Simple Starts add-on featuring beginner friendly quilts, 1 year EQ membership, instructional videos and guides, plus a free mousepad and sticker. I mean, what else could you want? 😉

If you are more of a book learner, Electric Quilt is having a sale that ends today! Enjoy 25% off EQ8 Lesson Books at ElectricQuilt.com. Use the code LESSONS at checkout.

Next month I’ll be taking the Next Steps class. I’m excited to see what is covered in this next class, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

What I've been up to

To make the constellation easier to see, I added embroidery to my Zodiac block (my new Quilt Block Mania block, which is complimentary to newsletter subscribers).

The pattern includes a link to an embroidery tutorial so makers can add embroidery to their blocks as well. This is Leo, the Zodiac sign for August.

I design my quilts using Electric Quilt as you probably know, and I love it! ❤️Not only does it make it easy to tweak a design, I can lay out my actual fabrics in my quilt to see exactly how it will look when done. Anyway, I was recently asked by them if I’d like to help bring their online classes to your attention. I love using Electric Quilt and so I happily said “Yes!”

Over the next few months, I’ll be taking one online class at a time and sharing my opinion of it. I’m taking the Beginners class now and I have to say it’s very well done. I’ll share more when I finish the class.

If you are more of a book learner, watch for the upcoming sale - 25% off EQ8 Lesson Books at ElectricQuilt.com August 16-18! Visit website during the sale for promo code and details.

Looking to purchase Electric Quilt? On the home front, we got our new flooring in! We’re not really done though. 😔 We had one day to enjoy our new LVP and then we had to move everything out of the two bedrooms that were also affected and into the living room so they could install carpet in there. So now my living room is filled with stuff!

One bedroom was my video studio, and the other is a future art/music room for my husband. I have to say it had become a kind of junk room—anything we weren’t sure what to do with ended up in there. So putting things back will be a thoughtful, slow process as we consider everything and discard what we don’t need/want any more. Downsizing is never easy, but I am looking forward to having more space and less “stuff.”

I was doing the same thing in my video studio, moving some things upstairs to my sewing area/office and into the new bookcases I got for Christmas, and moving other things downstairs into the studio and into the closet storage. So it’s a process there too. I’m seriously considering moving on some sewing stuff, so watch for new items to appear in my shop sometime soon.

The Quilter’s Mega Bundle continues until August 17th so grab it while you can!

Recently I’ve participated in free seminars, in which each presenter teaches a particular project or quilt topic. Great fun except you have a very limited time to watch everything.

This bundle is different. It’s a pack of quilting patterns, video workshops, tools, workbooks, and projects from 35+ quilt designers and teachers. You will have lifetime access to everything from the get-go.

The bundle is valued at over $1200, but your cost is $69.99. In the bundle, I’m offering a two month pass to check out my quilting membership, My Quilty Neighborhood, which is filled with video tutorials and patterns, plus a lovely little community where you can gather to share your projects, ask questions, and get to know quilters from around the world.

I hope you’ll consider the bundle and join us in the Neighborhood!

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Kat @ Scrapbox Quilts who shared several projects, including these adorable paper-pieced houses she’s making from scraps! I love her color choices here—scrappy but cohesive.

Next, Melva @ Melva Loves Scraps shared her newly quilted Viola cross-stitch quilt. It’s just so pretty! And Melva’s quilting design compliments the cross-stitched blocks perfectly.

Turid @ Den Syende Himmel shared another one of her quiet books. They simply fascinate me. Turid is always coming up with cute designs for the pages that make them interactive and fun. I simply love them and wish I had a grandchild to make one for. Aren’t they cute?

And finally, Allison @ A Messy House is a Sign of a Happy Quilter shared several projects, including these beautiful pineapple blocks she’s making for RSC. I love how scrappy and cute they are, don’t you?

What I've been up to

Thursday was my 2-year cancer-free anniversary! Anniversaries like this remind us to make the most of every day, and that’s what I’m going to do!

Here I am from a few years ago, modeling my new Bosum Buddy which I made for the ByAnnie Breast Cancer Awareness blog hop.

My August Quilt Block Mania block debuted yesterday. The theme was Night Sky and I made a Zodiac block! Here’s Leo, in honor of August (and my daughter). The pattern includes all the zodiacs. Learn how to get the complimentary pattern here.

Yesterday they did the prep work and today they begin installing the new floor. I can’t wait to see it!

I’m participating in the Quilter’s Mega Bundle—a bundle of quilting patterns, video workshops, tools, workbooks, and projects from 35+ quilt designers and teachers. The bundle is worth over $1200, but your cost is $69.99 (or less with the early bird offer.)

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Rebecca @ Rebecca Grace who shared her Scrappy Celebrations top. She’ll be gifting it to Project Linus after it’s quilted. Aren’t those Tilda fabrics lovely? What a great gift.

Next, Nancy @ Grace and Peace shared several customer quilts, including this gorgeous Elephants quilt. Don’t you just adore it? And I think the feather motif Nancy used is simply perfect for this. Love it!

And finally, Preeti @ Sew Preeti Quilts shared her new Boxed Mix quilt. You know I’m a big fan of purple (and teal and blue.) What a pretty quilt!

Quilt Block Mania - August is Night Sky

Jennifer Fulton — Tue, 04 Aug 2026 13:00:00 +0000

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Night Sky.

This is my seventh year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How to Get the Free Block at the end of this post.

I’ve always been fascinated by the night sky, especially the constellations. So when I heard the theme, I knew I wanted to create a constellation block.

As I worked on my block design, I was hit by inspiration! I love looking for zodiac constellations in the sky, and so I thought you might too. The constellation shown on my block is Leo, a constellation I like very much.

If you love the night sky as much I do, you might want to collect other weather, sky, and outer space blocks for a future quilt. You’ll find these patterns in my shop.

April Showers

First Snow

Discovery

Nativity

Silent Witness

Snow

I call my block Zodiac. It uses traditional piecing and fusible machine applique. The pattern contains guides for all the zodiacs. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How to Get the Free Block at the end of this post.

There are lots of designers in this hop so be sure to visit all of them for your free pattern. Here are links to all the blocks in the Quilt Block Night Sky Series:

Quilt Block Mania returns next month with the theme Harvest, so be sure to come back on the first Tuesday of the month to see what I create!

My Zodiac block pattern is free to my email subscribers. Every Sunday I share quilty tips and tricks, tutorials, and news in my weekly newsletter. I also include the code for downloading the monthly pattern for free.

Before you go, let me tell you about everything that’s going on here this week.

Happenings Here at Inquiring Quilter

I’m participating in the Quilter’s MEGA Bundle, a collection of the best video classes, workbooks, tools, and other goodies from 35+ designers!

When I was invited to be part of this quilting bundle, I didn't hesitate.

Why? Because it's filled with the kind of resources I know quilters actually use—video workshops that teach new skills, patterns that inspire your next project, and creative ideas from designers all over the quilting world.

I've already been browsing the sneak peek myself, and there are several workshops and patterns on my own "can't wait to try" list!

If you'd like to take a look before the bundle officially opens, now's the perfect time. You'll get an early peek at what's inside and a special early bird discount if you buy now.

I’ll be teaching on a cruise of the Western Caribbean in October, but there is still time to sign up. Learn more here.

My weekly show and tell linkup, Wednesday Wait Loss is over seven years old! Over the years, my little weekly group has encouraged many wonderful finishes. Join us by sharing your latest project.

What I've been up to

On Saturday I judged some quilts at a local county fair. It was a lot of fun and I left inspired.

What I've been up to

I photographed my three collection quilts and sent the photos off to Island Batik. No shipping this time—the lateness of the collection fabrics didn’t allow me enough time. I still can’t share the quilts—not until my collection is released next year. But I can share these versions.

Split Maple

Thumbprint

Time Rain

I submitted my video for the Quilters Paradise Summit coming up in the fall. I’ll be teaching all about AccuQuilt.

I enjoyed a brunch with my sisters and our daughters. We’ve been trying to meet regularly and I’m really enjoying that.

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Up first is Kat @ Scrapbox Quilts who shared this pretty charity quilt she quilted. I just love the fabrics in this! Kat did a wonderful job quilting this.

Next, Pat @ Bell Creek Quilts shared a non-Christmas tree skirt she made for an upcoming family reunion. Pat decorated the tree in honor of her dad, who would have been 100!

Isn’t that a cool idea for your Christmas tree—to decorate it for special events and create a little matching tree skirt too?

Melva @ Melva Loves Scraps shares several projects, including her quilts on display at a local library. I love it when my library has craft displays!

Next, Gail @ Quilting Gail answered the Lazy Summer Quilt Camp prompt that asked for binding beauty by sharing several quilts, including this adorable one! Don’t you just love that sweet puppy?

And finally, Allison @ A Messy House is a Sign of a Happy Quilter shared several projects, including this Old Town top. Isn’t it pretty? I can’t wait to see how Allison decides to quilt this.

What I've been up to

I have been working on a video for an upcoming quilting seminar, on AccuQuilt. In the video I teach how to select a cutter and dies, how to cut fabric, and how to make adjustments to a quilt pattern to use with AccuQuilt.

The seminar is free and in the fall. Be sure to follow me to get updates as the seminar approaches.

My new block for July’s Quilt Block Mania debuted yesterday here on the blog. The theme was movies, and I made a movie projector. Read all about it here.

I enjoyed the Fourth of July with a picnic at a state park (it was hot but there was a slight breeze) and fireworks downtown in the rain.

And that was my week!

Now let’s see who made this week’s feature

Let’s see what caught my eye this week.

Several quilters shared adorable mini-quilts, displayed on a mini quilt hanger. I have one too, and love it for switching out a quilt every month. I also featured it recently during a quilt summit where I taught my Patriotic Mini.

If you’d like to get a mini frame too, you’ll find it here.

Now let’s see what caught my eye this week. Up first is Nancy @ Grace and Peace Quilting who shared several projects including the mini quilts she made for her friends’ birthdays. I have this panel too, and some of the fabrics. I might make a similar mini, Nancy’s turned out so pretty.

Next, Diann @ Little Penguin Quilts also shared a mini quilt. What a lovely display! I love how she has so many different things that fit the theme—the mini embroidered quilt, the table runner, and the cross-stitched bowlies.

My daughter asked me the other day if I still cross-stitch and I do but I must admit I don’t do it often. Making little bowlies sure would be an easy way to get back into that craft. Come to think of it, I haven’t done embroidery in quite a while either! Perhaps I’ll take a cue from this wonderful display to try my hand at that again as well.

And finally, talking about cross-stitch, Nancy @ Grace and Peace also shared this customer quilt that’s pieced to look like a vintage cross-stitch design. Love it!

Quilt Block Mania - July is Movies

Jennifer Fulton — Tue, 07 Jul 2026 13:00:00 +0000

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Movies.

This is my seventh year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How to Get the Free Block at the end of this post.

When I used to work at a movie theater when I was young, and I have many fond memories of it. I love old movies—the communal movie experience and the way the light of a projector shines out in the dark.

If you love the movies as much I do, you might want to collect these other blocks for a future quilt. You’ll find these patterns in my shop.

Hedwig - Harry Potter

Aragog - Harry Potter

Discovery - Apollo 13

Be a Mermaid - Splash

Warming by the Fire (enjoying a movie)

I call my block Movie Projector. It uses traditional piecing, foundation paper piecing, and fusible machine applique. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!

To learn how to get my free pattern, see How to Get the Free Block at the end of this post.

There are lots of designers in this hop so be sure to visit all of them for your free pattern. Here are links to all the blocks in the Quilt Block Movies Series:

My Movie Projector block pattern is free to my email subscribers. Every Sunday I share quilty tips and tricks, tutorials, and news in my weekly newsletter. I also include the code for downloading the monthly pattern for free.

Before you go, let me tell you about everything that’s going on here this week.

Happenings Here at Inquiring Quilter

I’ve finished the sample quilts using my newest Island Batik collection. I can’t share the collection yet (it won’t be available until 2027) but I can share my designs in other colors.

Here’s Split Maple in spring greens, Time Rain in red, white, and blue, and Thumbprint in Fireglow by Ruby Star Society. Both patterns will be released with the collection next year. I can’t wait to share them with you!
