WWL is a place where you can share photos of quilts you’re working on and get encouragement to finish them from our Wednesday Wait Loss group! As you can see, I’ve been doing this for years and so our group is strong, loves to share, and is very welcoming.

Here’s how it works. Every week I start out by sharing what I’ve been working on. Then I share the projects from the previous week that most inspired me so that they will inspire you too! This is followed by the actual link up where you can share a photo of your current project. If you are new to linking up, I have a separate page that steps you through the whole process.

What I've been up to

For most of the week, I’ve been working on my third quilt for my latest Island Batik collection which debuts next year. I can’t share the collection, but I can share my quilt design in other colors.

I call this pattern Thumbprint. After I finish the version in my collection fabrics, I want to make another in Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I’ve been collecting them for years, and I think this is the perfect quilt to show them off!

Up first is Rebecca @ Rebecca Grace who shared her Stonefields project and this gorgeous quilt-tiled laundry room! Isn’t it lovely? I think those tiles would be wonderful in any quilters home—whether that’s in the laundry, bathroom, or kitchen.

Next, Gretchen @ Gretchen’s Little Corner shared her newly finished Designer Mystery quilt. This has been such fun to watch her put together. Isn’t it pretty?

And finally, Melva @ Melva Loves Scraps shared her Little House SAL quilts—one is named Caroline and the other is named Laura. Aren’t they lovely?

What I've been up to

I’ve been busy promoting the Fast-N-Easy Quilter’s Paradise Summit, an eight day quilter’s summit designed NOT to add to your WIP pile with unfinished projects.

Every presenter, including me, will be teaching a project designed to be fast to make and fully finished in a day or less! Best of all, you can use your scraps and reduce that as well.

Up first is Nann @ With Strings Attached who shared her Stars Aligned top. Nann plans to add borders, but I think the quilt looks pretty great now, don’t you? That red, black, and white color scheme is simply divine.

Next, Julie @ Julie’s Quilts and Costumes shared two Blue Onion quilt tops—one she made previously and one she’s making now. Full of quilty curves, I think both are beautiful, don’t you?

Diann @ Little Penguin Quilts shared her Lyra table runner. Didn’t she do a great job? Love the fabrics Diann used.

And finally, Allison @ A Messy House is a Sign of a Happy Quilter shared this Modern Triangle quilt top. Isn’t is pretty? Like a kaleidoscope.

Quilt Block Mania - June is Water

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Water.

This is my seventh year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.

When I considered the Water theme, I thought of other water-themed blocks I’d done in the past, especially Terry the Turtle. I just love the look of that big old sea turtle swimming right towards you, and I wanted to capture that feeling with my new block.

If you love the sea creatures as much I do, you might want to collect these other ocean-themed blocks for a future quilt. You’ll find these patterns in my shop.

Happenings Here at Inquiring Quilter

I’ve working these last weeks on sample quilts using my newest Island Batik collection and I’ve finished two! I can’t share the collection yet (it won’t be available until 2027) but I can share my designs in other colors.

Here’s Split Maple in spring greens, and Time Rain in red, white, and blue. Both patterns will be released with the collection next year. I can’t wait to share them with you!

Welcome to the Great American Quilt Hop!

Welcome!

The Great American Quilt Hop is a one-day celebration of quilt projects inspired by 250 years of American history, heritage, and freedom.

There are 12 designers in the hop, each sharing a patriotic quilt and a personal story about it.

I’m Jennifer Fulton, the artist behind the Inquiring Quilter. I’m so glad you dropped by!

Today I want to share my quilt, Patriot, and the story of how it came to be.

After the shock and disbelief of 911, my first thought was to fly a flag. Like all Americans, I needed to feel connected and strong in order to be able to face the changing world ahead, and flying a flag provided that.

A flag is only a symbol, but to me it's a very special one. In our flag I see one country, united and strong, yet flexible and free.

I designed Patriot to honor the veterans in my family--my father, my brother, my aunt. My father served in the Army during World War II. My Aunt Betty served in the Army Nurse Corps.

My brother Mike served first with the Air Force in Vietnam and later with the Navy.

My hope is that quilters will make Patriot to honor the veterans in their lives or to donate to Quilts of Valor.

Patriot is easy to piece, but there are supporting videos on my YouTube channel for those that need more help. Patriot can be cut out conventionally, or with an AccuQuilt cutter--complete yardage and cutting directions are included in the pattern.

Wednesday Wait Loss 486

What I've been up to

I’ve finished the first quilt top for my new Island Batik collection and it’s ready for the longarmer. Since then I started working on the second quilt.

I’ve got the quilt cut out and am beginning to piece it as fast as I can, as deadlines loom. I’m calling my new pattern Time Rain, which is a kind of firework. Here it is in red/white/blue, and not the colors in the collection. It looks good in any color palette! I can’t wait to share my new pattern when the collection debuts.

I’m prepping for a special patriotic quilt blog hop called the Great American Quilt Hop on June 1st. I hope you’ll return in June and participate in the hop, which will feature so many great designers and patriotic designs!

Next, Viridian @ Viridian’s Blog shared her newly finished Pie Birds top. I just love those tiny flying geese shapes in black! They really elevate this quilt. So pretty!

And finally, Gail @ Quilting Gail shared a baby quilt she made for a challenge. Isn’t it adorable? I have to say Gail’s quilting is superb and perfect for this.

What I've been up to

My new Island Batik collection arrived last week and since then I’ve had my nose down and have been working on the first quilt for the collection. The collection will debut in 2027.

I also spent some time prepping a promo for a special bundle of Patriotic patterns that’s being offered for a limited time at a crazy, gotta get ‘em price.

Let’s talk. If you had a weekend to make something special to commemorate this year, what would you make? A red, white, and blue quilt to hang on the porch all summer? A table runner that comes out every Fourth of July and gets so many compliments? Something scrappy and fun just to dig into that patriotic fabric you've been hoarding saving? 😄

On Thursday, I invite you to get cozy and browse through the bundle.

Up first is Julie @ Julie’s Quilts and Costumes who shared her Mini Storm at Sea quilt. The quilt is two-sided, with a light and a dark side. Isn’t that a cool idea?

Julie also shared another Storm at Sea quilt she’d made. Don’t you just love that border? What a cool way to finish a Storm at Sea!

Next, Leeanna @ Not Afraid of Color shared some improv bits she sewed using RSC’s orange fabrics. What I like about these pieces is how artistic they are! I can’t wait to see what Leanna makes of them.

And finally, Allison @ A Messy House is a Sign of a Happy Quilter shared her Between the Lines quilt. I really love how bright and fun this is. That black really makes the colors pop!

Wednesday Wait Loss 484

What I've been up to

I filmed the quilt assembly tutorial for Vintage Halloween, so another complete BOM is up in my membership, My Quilty Neighborhood. I can’t wait to begin the next BOM!

I’m expecting my next Island Batik collection to arrive any moment, so last week I worked on the final touches for the first of three patterns I designed for the collection. My fifth collection debuts later this year, and this new collection will arrive in shops in 2027.

Here’s a peak at the pattern, shown here in spring greens. I’m calling the pattern Split Maple and it’ll debut with the collection next year.

I ended my week with a presentation at Stone Soup Batiks. I shared a trunk show of quilts and my design for the All Indiana Shop Hop, which is going on now through the end of June. The pattern is included in the shop hop magazine which you can purchase online through Stone Soup Batiks and any of the other participating shops. I call my design Indiana Fireflies.

Up first is Allison @ A Messy House is a Sign of a Happy Quilter shared several RSC projects, including these adorable improv pineapple blocks!

Next, Gail @ Quilting Gail shared photos from her guild’s quilt show, including quilts from a challenge called Sliver of Silver. Participants made small quilts that contained a sliver of silver from the left to right edge of the quilt. That way, the silver river could run through the exhibit connecting one quilt to the next. Isn’t that a cool idea?

Preeti @ Sew Preeti Quilts shared her latest quilt pattern. So cute!

And finally, Julie @ Julie’s Quilts and Costumes shared her gorgeous 2025 Temperature quilt. I can’t tell you how much I just love this!

Wednesday Wait Loss 483

What I've been up to

I cut out a quilt for a friend who broke her shoulder and is still recovering. I used my AccuQuilt, so it was pretty fast. Some pieces had to be cut by hand, but that’s okay. I used a few of my strip cutters to cut the strips, then subcut by hand so it was still fast.

Next, I sewed up my new Quilt Block Mania block, which debuted yesterday here on the blog. The theme was Art, but I decided quilting is an art so I made a quilting related block—Mini Iron. Jump over here to read how you can get the pattern for free!

I ended my week by creating a new block for Quilt Block Mania. The theme is Art. I’ll leave you to guess what I might have designed. The block debuts here on Tuesday.

Quilt Block Mania - May is Art

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Art.

This is my seventh year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.

When I considered the Art theme, I thought first of great artists like Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Renoir. But honestly, quilting is my art form. Whether you make an art quilt or simply sew some charm squares together, you’re creating art. Every choice and every decision affect the final look and contribute to the beauty of your quilt.

As quilt artists, one of our most valuable tools is our iron. Without a proper pressing, our blocks won’t lay flat and the resulting quilt won’t be a pretty as it could be. So my block is a tribute to this invaluable tool. I chose to depict a mini iron because frankly, I love mine!

If you love the art quilting as much I do, you might want to collect these other quilt-themed blocks for a future quilt. You’ll find these patterns in my shop.

What I've been up to

I shipped out a huge order of Broken Road patterns for my upcoming quilting cruise with Stitchin’ Heaven. It’s not to late to join us as we sail the Western Caribbean with Royal Caribbean.

I recorded the intro for my tutorial videos on Hep Cat, the final block in my Vintage Halloween BOM. I’m so happy with how he turned out!

I ended my week by creating a new block for Quilt Block Mania. The theme is Art. I’ll leave you to guess what I might have designed. The block debuts here on Tuesday.

Wednesday Wait Loss 481

What I've been up to

This week has been hard and I haven’t gotten a lot of work done. In March we had to replace our furnace. Then last week, the water heater gave up. A few days later we noticed some water and after investigating, it was determined that the water softener was also kaput.

We immediately went into the remediation phase, with a company placing fans, a dehumidifier, and an air scrubber in the hallway to dry things out and remove any mold from the air. That part is over at least. Boy those fans were loud!

Soon we’ll get an estimate for the next phase—restoration—where everything will be restored. On the plus side, although the water got into the closet of my video studio, none of my quilts or fabric was hurt. I may have lost a few things, but nothing too important.

I finished recording a tutorial on a patriotic mini quilt that I’ll be presenting in an upcoming online seminar in June. I had to record what I could in the studio before the fans were installed, then record the rest upstairs in my office but I got it done!

I love how it turned out.

Later, I recorded the tutorial for the next block in my Vintage Halloween BOM. I still need to make the Double-size version of the block then record the Intro but at least I’ve made some good progress!

Next, Margo @ MY Quilts and Crafts shared two baby quilts she made recently for friends. I love how delightfully different they are from each other. And so pretty!

And finally, Preeti @ Sew Preeti Quilts shared her new quilt, Polite Society, and some red RSC blocks. I love the cool simplicity of Polite Society, but those RSC blocks just knock me out! Aren’t they cool?

Wednesday Wait Loss 480

What I've been up to

Thank you for the birthday wishes last week. They really made my day. The celebration continued over the weekend, when my daughter came to visit. We did some clothes shopping for me, some gaming, some movie watching, and some dining out. It was such a great weekend!

I worked some more on fabric folding and organizing my new shelves. I’ve now gotten all my print fabric from my downstairs video studio moved upstairs, and sorted by color. I’ve also moved my collection of Tula Pink fabrics upstairs—you can see it on the top right.

Now I want to move themed prints that are sorted into collections like Christmas, Halloween, quilting, and so on up here near my sewing machine. Downstairs in the video studio I’ll keep my extensive collection of Island Batiks and other batiks I’ve bought over the years.

I finished designing a flag block for a patriotic mini quilt. I’ll be hosting a tutorial with free pattern during an upcoming seminar to be held in June. Watch for more details coming soon on how to sign up for free for this fantastic fun-filled seminar!

Up first is Nancy @ Grace and Peace Quilting who shared two charity quilts. In order to bust her stash, Nancy is using the RSC color prompt each month to make charity quilts. What a great idea!

Next, Diann @ Little Penguin Quilts shared several projects, including her blocks from the Little House on the Prairie SAL. Don’t you just love her fabrics? So perfect for fall.

And finally, Karen @ Quilts Etc shared several projects too, including her RSC Flowering Snowball blocks. I’ve shared these before, but I had to share how much I love the mix of dark and light blocks. This is really coming together well! Love it.

Wednesday Wait Loss 479

What I've been up to

First, I should mention that today is my birthday! Happy birthday to me. 🎂

My husband is taking me out for lunch and making me a nice steak dinner tonight. He makes steaks so perfect, there’s no reason to go to a fancy place to have one. They never taste as good as his.

And for dessert, my favorite—lemon poppyseed. Simple recipe but oh soooooo good!

Last week I finished an Indy 500 pin banner for my daughter. We’re big fans of the Indy 500 and go every year. Last year my daughter decided to start collecting pins, starting with the year she was born. Some she has are even older.

She already has 42 pins with plans to collect more so I knew I needed to make sure she had room to grow. Together we decided on 6 across and 11 down (for the 11 rows of cars at the start of the race.) I had brick fabric so of course I needed to add the “yard of bricks.” At the top I added the famous pagoda.

I put the banner in her Easter basket and she was thrilled! She went home after and immediately arranged her pins on it. She told me that she’s keeping the pagoda and yard of bricks spaces for real special pins she wants to feature.

Yesterday my newest Quilt Block Mania block debuted here on the blog. The theme was Games, and I made a Quilter’s Bingo block. The pattern is free to my newsletter subscribers.

Up first is Julie @ Julie’s Quilts and Costumes who shared her Lighthouse Inn quilt. Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the bright colors against that dark background, and the lights and darks in each block. Wonderful!

And finally, Turid @ Den Syende Himmel shared her spool quilt. She and a group of friends made these for a show—each quilt is in answer to a specific prompt. What a wonderful idea! So creative, and they make a great display.

Quilt Block Mania - April is Games

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Weather.

This is my seventh year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.

I don’t know if you have ever played Quilter’s Bingo, but it sure is fun! My bee and I were in charge of games one year for our Christmas party, and as a result, we were in charge of making the bingo cards.

With Quilters bingo, you play with a fabric card. Each column is a color, and every square is a specific category of fabric. You can choose any categories you like, but for my block above I chose Dots, Flowers, 30s reproductions, animals, and winter holidays.

Every card will have it’s own unique combination of colors and categories. There may even be a category not represented on a single card at all. A caller determines the next combo (we used dice) and calls it out (such as Red Winter Holiday) so players can mark their cards. For my block, I used red markers as you might find in regular bingo. At that Christmas party, we used buttons to mark our cards so you can do that on your block if you like.

In my block, the player has just won after forming a diagonal line with their markers.

If you love quilting as much I do, you might want to collect these other quilt-themed blocks for a future quilt. You’ll find these patterns in my shop.

What I've been up to

Last week I designed and made the new Quilt Block Mania block for April. The new block will debut next Tuesday. The theme is games. I wonder what I’ll make? (And no, it’s not Monopoly.)

I also added some patterns to Quiltie. Quiltie is a place where you can track your quilt projects, browse for patterns to try, organize your stash, and ask questions of your fellow quilters.

I also started work on a project for the next Quilters Paradise Summit—Fast-n-Easy. This time, the summit is focusing on projects with participants getting free patterns and video tutorials on how to make them. The summit will be in June. Sign up for my newsletter to be sure you get notified to join! The summit is free.

Let’s see what caught my eye this week. Many of you finished your SAHRR quilts. Let’s take a look!

Up first is Diann @ Little Penguin Quilts. Diann chose a fall theme. What a lovely way to frame her embroidery!

Next, Nann @ With Strings Attached frame a small panel for her SAHRR. Being a librarian, Nann couldn’t have picked a more perfect subject for her quilt. Each border adds interest to this lovely piece.

Kat @ Scrapbox Quilts created a lovely quilt with her mix of borders and colors. That applique flower block in the center really inspired a beautiful quilt! Don’t you just love it?

Next, Carol @ Quilt Schmilt also started with a panel for her SAHRR. Here, the simple borders draw attention to that tranquil farm scene in the panel.

And finally, Gail @ Quilting Gail used a mix of my favorite colors (purple, teal, and fuchsia) to create this delightful quilt. I just adore those butterflies, don’t you? Her flying geese and circle borders add such movement. It’s like those butterflies are flittering around her little garden in the center!

Wednesday Wait Loss 477

What I've been up to

Last week I recorded the tutorial for my Witchy Moon block, which is part of my Vintage Halloween BOM.

I didn’t get a lot done after that, just little things here and there because on Friday we helped our beautiful Zora over the rainbow bridge. She was the best cat EVER and I miss her so much.

Zora helped me quilt and cross stitch. She’d often interrupt my videos with questions. “Meow?” “Meeeeeowwww??” “Meow, meow, meow?” The answer was always to give her some attention. Wouldn’t I love to give her even more attention now?

Miss you, Zora sweetheart.

What I've been up to

Last week I attended classes at the Quilter’s Paradise Summit, just to learn what other quilting teachers are doing. It’s my way of keeping up with the industry.

While I was watching videos, I sorted fabrics to place on my new shelves.

At the end of the week, I worked on the next block in my Vintage Halloween BOM, which is exclusive to my quilting membership. The block is called Witchy Moon.

And that was my week!

Gretchen @ Gretchen’s Little Corner shared her progress on the Designer Mystery. Isn’t this a pretty quilt in progress? I simply adore the fabrics, don’t you?

And finally, Leeanna @ Not Afraid of Color shared her answer to the Project Quilt 17.5 challenge, My Compliments. Leeanna used a painting, printed on fabric, to create her piece. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Wednesday Wait Loss 475

What I've been up to

Last week I focused on quilt patterns for my fifth Island Batik collection, which will be released next year. I’ve created (3) new patterns that I’ll be making soon, when my new fabric arrives here.

After I make my quilts, I’ll ship them to Island Batik for catalog photography. The quilts will return months later, and I’ll keep them a secret until the collection is released next year. Yep, that’s how far ahead we work in the fabric industry!

And that was my week!

Up first is Karen @ Quilts Etc who shared several projects, including these beautiful blocks she’s making for RSC. She calls the blocks Flowering Snowballs and they do look like lovely flowers. What a pretty garden Karen is making!

Next, Deb @ A Scrappy Quilter showed off an incredible number of quilt tops she’s recently finished from her scraps. Each one is so cool, including this pretty baby quilt.

And finally, Rebecca @ Rebecca Grace shared this lovely temperature quilt she quilted for a client. I love bright fabrics so this is so pretty to me! And it’s an easy block for a temperature quilt. Just love it!

Wednesday Wait Loss 474

What I've been up to

I was at a quilt retreat last week with my beemates. We shopped, traveled parts of Michigan to see the lovely landscape, and sewed!

I started sewing some of the house in Summer Village. As you may recall, I’m making this quilt with my beemates. The quilt has four rows—the first row and another row (I chose row 2) we are sewing ourselves, the other two rows are being sewn by a bee mate. I in turn will sew row 2 for them.

This quilt is easy peasy once you’ve got the fabrics cut! At retreat I sewed all of Row 1 and most of Row 2. So excited! At our March bee meeting I will get the fabrics from my bee mates to make their Row 2s, and they will get mine to make Rows 3 and 4.

Two of us are using the colors in Summer Village, and one is using the Winter Village colors. To me, both are equally beautiful so it was very hard to choose!

While on retreat, I finished the appliques for a new quilt pattern that will debut in January when my next Island Batik collection arrives in stores. I can’t show you the quilt just yet, but I can share that it includes this little guy. The pattern will include a small lap/toddler size quilt and a wall hanging. I think the quilt is going to look wonderful in a child’s bedroom!

Yesterday I shared my new Quilt Block Mania block for March. The theme is weather so of course I made an umbrella! I’m smiling because as I write this, it’s raining. 🤣

Quilt Block Mania - March is Weather

I love the rain. Okay, not driving in it, but walking in a gentle rain is fun. And watching the rain fall in my garden lifts my spirits.

A rainy day also means more sewing, so what’s wrong with that?

For my block, I imagined a bright umbrella under a dark sky, with raindrops falling down. I mean, why carry a black umbrella when you can carry a purple one?
