Teaser trailers for the newest chapter in the James Bond saga feature plenty of car chases, and it seems that 007 will be in the seat of an Aston Martin DB5. DB5 cars have been featured in Casino Royale, Tomorrow Never Dies, Goldfinger, GoldenEye and Thunderball. Many fans have stated that the Aston Martin is the most iconic James Bond car. In fact, many people consider it their favorite. Interestingly enough, the DB5 was also featured on a more subdued note in Cars 2.

Movies often spur on sales of various products. No one would ever invest money in paid product placement if that weren’t true. One might consider what influence this might have on sales of classic Aston Martin vehicles. Many of these famous British automobiles are rare collectibles today. The classic car market might come to love these grand touring cars once again. There are a number of modern vehicles that carry the Aston Martin herald, and these could also experience some growth in popularity. Publicity is good for the name either way.

The trailer claims that M has been haunted by her past. Something threatening has come out of the annals of history. Likewise, the Aston Martin has come back for another round of action in this new movie. Moreover, it seems like Land Rovers will also be heavily featured in the movie.

Several video games have also spurred on the model’s popularity. Agent Under Fire, Blood Stone, 007 Racing and From Russia with Love all featured the iconic vehicle. Roger Moore even drove one in a parody of the James Bond series. While fans that aren’t too familiar with the automotive industry might not get too excited at first, even they might end up wanting their own British luxury car.

Some newer models have actually been made in Austria. However, this hasn’t dampened their popularity. Around 2,000 Aston Martin Rapide vehicles are supposed to be produced each year. While they might not feature the gadgets that many Bond cars have, they do feature integration with microchip technology. US versions feature satellite radio.

Standard features include a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 16 speakers. Two of these are actually installed on the dashboard and rise up when activated. The Aston Martin Virage is equally as impressive. Maybe some fans might take one home in the near future. Even if they aren’t chasing spies, they surely won’t be disappointed.

Traffic jams are a serious problem, and the bridge hopes to alleviate them to some degree.

There are 18 million people in Mumbai. One of the managers of the Daiwa Mutual Fund in Mumbai suggested that infrastructure in the city moves along but it’s ultimately not going anywhere. While repairs and upgrades are constantly made, they are downplayed by poor infrastructure in other parts of the city. The Daiwa Mutual Fund is a unit of the second largest brokerage in Japan. Mumbai is already quite an international city.

Moreover, the project certainly suggests that India is a growing market for automakers. However, one has to question whether or not the country will become a major importer. India has a developed indigenous automotive industry. As American and European car companies continue to look for overseas markets, they might turn their eyes towards Indian drivers.

The 22 km long bridge will connect the island with the Navi Mumbai district on the mainland. These improvements have to be made before 2014. A new airport will begin operation in that year, and the airport would probably increase pressures on the current transit system.

Construction work could cost as much as $2.5 billion. According to the commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, the bridge would boast two train tracks in addition to a six-lane highway. As well as serving the new airport, the bridge is supposed to aid in the development of the Navi district. This should help to alleviate the population pressures that Mumbai faces.

Dubai and Shanghai are considered regional business centers that compete with Mumbai. The city of Mumbai hasn’t received a new bridge to the mainland in over a decade. Driving between the existing airport and the Nariman Point financial district is getting increasingly difficult. Travel times have grown by as much as an hour over the last ten years, according to Mumbai First.

Fixing these travel problems could help the city to compete with Shanghai and Dubai. India might very well rival other countries in the region. Most importantly, the bridge improvements can help the city to cut back on the insane amount of time that many drivers spend in traffic. One might wonder what influence sales of the new Tata Nano will have on traffic in India as a whole.

The CeBit show in Germany featured an egg-shaped vehicle dubbed the NAME. Industry analysts are hopeful for a future where driverless cars interact with wireless networks to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. This would theoretically make traffic signals unnecessary. The vehicles would be made of lightweight material that would allow them to collapse into tiny parking crevices.

According to the general manager of the team behind Microsoft Windows Embedded, automakers would focus more on entertaining riders. Apparently the term drivers would no longer be necessary. BMW, Ford and other automakers connected with the project could provide cloud-computing technology to deliver video games or music to passengers wirelessly. If they aren’t the type to easily get motion sick, riders could also catch a few extra minutes of work.

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence designed the NAME. It claims that automobiles in the city could be rotated at 90-degree angles to squeeze them into tight spaces. That’s certainly good news for anyone who complains they can’t find a parking spot. Dashboard technology used in the vehicle resembles touch screens that appear on mobile phones. Cameras and lasers would be installed to prevent collisions with other vehicles. Some cars could be extended to allow up to four passengers to enjoy the futuristic ride. It doesn’t seem like anyone has rushed to give the NAME a driver’s license just yet, however.

General Motors has genuinely expressed interests in allowing drivers to interact with onboard personal computer installations. This would be a serious shift in policy from telling drivers not to text while driving. Since self-driving cars seem to still be in the prototype stage, people shouldn’t break this cardinal rule.

Some individuals are probably quite critical of these seemingly fantastical assumptions. Many people remember how journalists constantly talked about flying cars. People have become jaded to industrial promises. On the other hand, individuals in the world of computers have constantly been critical of any technology they deem to be bloated.

Using cloud computing to deliver content to passengers might seem unnecessary. Some people could be critical of automotive research into fields besides fuel efficiency or safety. Other commentators are probably weary of any self-driving robotic technology. However, the interest in these designs has proven to be relatively popular. Whether driven by science fiction or Google’s automatic cars, consumers of the future might have a variety of strange options available to them.

McKernan spent 21 years as the chief executive of the Automobile Club of Southern California. He spent 46 years total working with the organization. However, he retired in May 2012. Robert Bouttier will be taking over his post. He was previously the president of the club, and also the chief operating officer of it. Both men truly worked their way up the corporate ladder.

No state is associated with automobiles like California is. The Automobile Club of Southern California has been around for well over 100 years. Ten car enthusiasts founded the organization in 1900. Back then they were fighting to improve roads and have new traffic laws passed. It’s the largest constituent member of the famous AAA federation, and serves around 14 million members. Almost one third of AAA members are members of this organization.

Insurance policies affiliated with the club provide coverage for recreational vehicles and homes as well as cars. While regional clubs seldom expand, McKernan started to take over AAA clubs in other states. In 1996, he took control of organizations in Hawaii, Texas and New Mexico. The Automobile Club of Southern California is now active in 21 different states, but it retains its original name.

There are around 6.2 million members of the organization who actually live in Southern California. Westways magazine, which is published by the club, offers numerous travel tips and discounts to members. It’s likely that more people are paying attention to those discounts than ever before. Since McKernan took over, the membership in the original service area grew by almost 70 percent. Robert Bouttier certainly has big shoes to fill.

However, he also has a great deal of experience in the automotive industry. He started his career working as a claims representative 37 years ago. His original post was at an insurance branch office. He’s certainly seen everything from the ground up. Some people might speculate on what reforms he might enact.

Of course, such a well-run organization might not need any sweeping changes. McKernan’s legacy is certainly a positive one. He started his career at the bottom as well. In 1966, McKernan took a job as a customer service representative in Pasadena. He worked as a computer programmer and later as the chief financial officer. His original appointment as CEO came in 1991. Many people will probably compare Bouttier’s background to McKernan’s. This is certainly a very serious compliment for both individuals.

In fact, many of these economies could eventually make for a strong secondary market for US automakers. Myanmar has long been a land of uncertainty. Individuals that comment on the nation usually talk about human rights as opposed to cars. However, that might change shortly.

Myanmar was a shut off nation for many years. However, a recent survey conducted by the IMF suggests that Myanmar is set to experience huge economic growth. One of the top priorities there is to establish new macroeconomic stability. Exchange rate reform would be an excellent place to start. Reforms could also encourage importing more vehicles into the country.

Reliable transportation will certainly be important. The Southeast Asian Games are due to be held in the country in 2013. Starting in 2010, Myanmar underwent a number of reforms. There is still quite a bit of progress to go, but things have certainly changed. The government of Myanmar started to encourage replacement of old rust buckets in 2011.

A program has been in place since September 2011 to eliminate 40-year-old privately owned vehicles. Around 55,000 vehicles were canceled off the registry. The government is now allowing citizens holding foreign exchange accounts to freely import cars. The vehicles in question must be 2007 or newer models.

Everything except buses can be freely imported. The brand new regulations don’t put any restriction on steering. Both left-hand and right-handed steering vehicles may be imported. After gaining the endorsement of region or state regulators, individuals may also import 2007 or newer cabs. Taxi services are in need of new cars as badly as anyone else in the country.

Restrictions on buses are a bit more complicated. If an owner surrendered their old bus, they can receive an import permit in exchange. The owner of an old bus can then buy a vehicle made between 1996 and 2006. Anyone that wants to buy completely new buses may be given permission to import 2007 or newer buses. However, these must feature left-hand steering wheels.

Considering that commentators often talk about various slumps in domestic car sales, American automakers could look towards developing nations for new markets. Foreign marketplaces might help to reverse the trade balance. Many of these countries are held back by ancient gas-guzzlers. Buyers might look at newer vehicles as a responsible choice. While fuel efficiency and cleanliness is important to American buyers, it is even more so to those in impoverished states.

The first self-driving license has been granted only two months after the legislation passed. Naturally, Google was approved for the first testing license under the new set of regulations. The organization has been testing a vehicle driven by artificial intelligence for several years now.

Most people know Google as a search engine company, though they are also the corporate force behind the Android operating system. That doesn’t make an autonomous car any more normal. Test runs of the car have taken place in campuses and secret locations for some time now. Fans of morning television might recall when Good Morning America featured an automatic test drive in 2010.

While the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles might look particularly progressive in permitting a self-driving car on their roads, they have imposed some restrictions. Other drivers will be able to identify the automatic Toyota Prius fleet by red license plates. These feature the symbol for infinity on the left side. It’s pretty hard to miss a car with a giant laser scan system mounted on the top anyways. If that wasn’t enough to give it away, Google slapped their logo on the paint job along with a sticker proclaiming it to be a self-driving car.

On one hand, this might seem like a publicity stunt on Google’s behalf. However, Audi and BMW are working on similar designs that use a mixture of software and hardware to pilot themselves around. According to Google’s offices, the technology is not actually supposed to replace drivers. Rather, it’s intended to take over whenever the driver is distracted. This could be beneficial for those that eat or text while driving. Naturally, these activities are dangerous and shouldn’t be attempted.

Nevada currently requires a driver and a passenger in each of the test vehicles. Google has asked the state to exempt human backup drivers of automatic vehicles from laws that prevent drivers from texting behind the wheel. That being said, a human can always take control of the car by depressing the brake pedal or grabbing the steering wheel.

While science fiction fans might be rejoicing, commercially marketing the technology isn’t currently in the realm of possibilities. General Motors predicted that self-driving automotive technology would be standard in cars by 2020. Drivers certainly won’t be able to buy robotic cars any time soon.

Regular washing can stave off stains, corrosion, rust and oxidation, and it can also make your vehicle look as sharp as possible. Many drivers, however, wonder whether a hand wash is as good as an automatic wash. If you’ve found yourself in this same position, consider the following:

Hand Wash – A hand wash can do a world of good for your vehicle, no matter what type it is. Washing your vehicle by hand allows you to get into a variety of nooks and crannies that an automatic wash simply can’t reach, and it also allows you to concentrate on problem spots which may be suffering from more dirt than usual. Additionally, washing your vehicle by hand can help you to keep certain aspects of your vehicle, such as rims, healthy and clean, even in adverse conditions; an automatic wash may not be able to compare, even on a regular basis.

If you choose hand washing, it’s important to take your time. In fact, you may even need to go over your vehicle and its individual components twice. Many people who choose to wash their vehicles by hand also often choose to employ a wax or polish substance to add extra shine. When using these products, be careful not to overdo it, as this can cause paint to thin or chip when dry.

Automatic Washes – Automatic vehicle washes offer the added benefit of time saved. Many busy people choose to go through automatic vehicle washes in order to get a quick cleaning job without having to invest an hour or more scrubbing every surface. Unfortunately, even the most comprehensive automatic washes today fail to adequately clean every surface. Additionally, many automatic vehicle washes offer additional services such as waxing and polishing, but the fact is, unless you perform these duties by hand, there is no way they will come close to completely cleaning and shining your vehicle.

No matter what method of cleaning you choose, it’s important to take care of your vehicle’s paint. If and when you choose to sell your vehicle, damaged paint or corroded metal can cause the resale value of your vehicle to plummet. Taking care of your vehicle’s exterior is just as important, if not more important, than taking care of its interior and internal parts.

These ads claimed that major retailers and resellers would be setting up at a location near me and that they would be offering name-brand electronics at a fraction of their retail price. These electronics typically included radios, CD players, MP3 players, speakers, amps and more, and each was available at a discounted price that I simply couldn’t find anywhere else.

While I had mostly passed these ads off as nothing but rubbish, one day, my curiosity got the best of me and I planned to go to one nearby. The ad stated that vendors would have the latest and best in car stereos, speakers and amps, all at discounts of 90% off of retail, so I decided to see what all of the hype was about. I was a fan of upgrading and modifying my ride at the time, so I figured if I could do so without spending extra money; what would it hurt?

Unfortunately, when I arrived at the sale, I found out very quickly that I had been had. I paid $12 at the door for entry, and this only allowed me to walk around and peruse the various auto electronics on sale. As I visited each table, it became apparent that I was not going to save any money at all; essentially, all of the vendors were selling junk. Each vendor I visited was hocking no-name, low-budget electronics, many of which I had heard bad things about. Although the prices were incredibly low, I knew from experience that a $10 CD player wasn’t going to last long.

In spite of my better judgement, I did buy a pair of 12″ speakers for $20. I got them home, hooked them up, and within two days, they were blown. Of course, by that point, I couldn’t revisit the retailer for a refund because the electronics show was over. I simply had to live with my purchase.

When it came time to sell my vehicle, I had to remove the speakers, as no respectable buyer would have given me top dollar for my car with such poor speakers inside. I soon learned that, in order to get the best price on a used vehicle, it’s important to keep as much factory equipment inside as possible, and also avoid installing cheap, inefficient equipment.

I’m writing this as a warning to anyone who is considering selling their vehicle to a family member. Now, this isn’t to say that selling your vehicle to a family member is always a bad idea, but in my case, it caused more trouble than it was worth. I love my brother, and we still get along great, but during the process of selling my SUV to him, I have to admit, our relationship was a bit strained.

It all started when I decided that I wanted to invest in a new vehicle. I had purchased my 2003 Isuzu Axoim SUV from a used car lot back in 2006, and with just barely over 100,000 miles on it, I wanted to go ahead and find something a little newer. Also, as gas prices have continued to rise, I was having a hard time affording a full tank of gas each week to get back and forth to and from work.

I tried taking my Isuzu to a few dealerships, and most were able to offer me close to market value, but none were able to completely match it. I also tried selling my SUV online, but most private buyers came by and wanted to argue over the price. One day, just as I was about to give up, my brother called me up and said he’d be interested in buying it at full-market value. I thought, “Wow, this is a great idea. He’s my brother…what can go wrong?”

Unfortunately within a few days of him purchasing the vehicle, the problems started. He first called me up about the brake pads. He claimed that they were worn and that I should pay to have them replaced. Now, in any other circumstance, I would have never done this, but because he’s my brother, I agreed to pay for it, even though the pads were less than six months old. Then he called about the lug nuts, the fogged up headlights and even the windshield wiper fluid. It seemed like it would never end! Every few days, he seemed to be calling about some minor problem that he expected me to pay for.

Eventually, I sat him down and explained that, when he bought the vehicle, he assumed ownership. After that, the calls and requests seemed to stop, and again, we have a great relationship today, but for a while there, things were difficult. If you ever consider selling a vehicle to a family member, please take the time to ensure that they understand that, once the vehicle is sold, the maintenance is up to them.

Most people try to sell their vehicles to dealerships, but this process is typically a hassle. From driving your vehicle to the dealership to waiting hours while your vehicle is inspected and appraised, the entire ordeal can take a while, and often, it doesn’t produce the results that people want. One way to avoid this hassle is to sell your vehicle using your mobile device. As more and more people use smartphones as a daily tool, you may actually be able to sell your car faster and get more money by using this method. If you haven’t considered this selling your vehicle using your mobile device before, here are a few tips:

Take Good Pictures – When selling a vehicle, one of the most important aspects is to allow a potential buyer to actually see the vehicle. While you may be a great writer, the fact is, no amount of illustrative text is going to do your vehicle actual justice. Before buying a vehicle, people will want to see exactly what they’ll be getting. Because most mobile devices now include high-quality cameras, try to take some time to place your vehicle in a great setting, and then take as many pictures as possible. Try to highlight all of your vehicle’s benefits, but also be honest and take pictures of any of its shortcomings. If it has some rust, take pictures. If you installed a new muffler, take pictures. Remember, you will want to offer the most honest representation of your vehicle possible.

Use Apps – While most mobile devices are able to go online, the process of accessing and using a website on such devices can still be difficult. From formatting issues to slow loading times, most websites which allow you to sell a vehicle can be cumbersome. Instead, try to find sites which offer dedicated mobile apps. These apps generally load and update much quicker than traditional sites, and many of them will allow you to upload pictures and information about your vehicle, and buyers may be able to make purchases using the same app.

Of course, if you really want to skip the hassle and get the most amount of money for your used vehicle, you may want to visit a car buyer. A car buyer will be able to professionally appraise your vehicle and get a deal done quickly and efficiently. Additionally, a car buyer won’t haggle with you like a dealership, and you’ll often be able to get top dollar for your vehicle on the spot.
