When you're in the Philippines and you hear about country clubs, you always picture an enclosed private place where you can enjoy sports activities particularly golf and tennis exclusively for members. However, some of these clubs actually do accommodate non members by collecting a bit more from them for the fees which is actually just fair.

Yes, country club memberships can be pricey but it will be well worth your money if you're all about finding the perfect place where you can regularly practice kicking some asses with your favorite sport, hold your very own special and private events, achieve total relaxation with your family and friends and more.

Here's a list of country clubs and their location you might consider being a part of. Top 3 choices:

1. The Mills Country Club, Canlubang, Laguna

This is one of the newest country club in the Philippines tucked in Carmeltown, Canlubang but their facilities can surely rival that of the best ones. The Mills Country Club has the top amenities you can ever ask for - banquets for different functions, sports and recreation center, spa and massage, etc. If you've got all the love for sports especially beach volleyball but can't be bothered finding a beach for it - you've got it here with the feel of real white sand under your feet!

2. The Palms Country club, Alabang, Muntinlupa City

Probably the most popular of all the country clubs here in Luzon, The Palms has become the venue for known events like the Celebrity Sports Cup. They really offer a wide range of activities for the whole family and focus is centered on the kids to have loads of fun. They even hold ballet and taekwondo lessons!

3. Wack Wack Golf & Country Club, Mandaluyong

One of the oldest golf clubs in the Philippines, having been founded in 1930 by a prominent American resident William J. Shaw. Established as an exclusive championship course in the then town of Mandaluyong (now Mandaluyong City) in the metropolitan area of Manila, it has consistently been considered as one of the best golf courses in world. I'd bet you've never heard about any of this. Unless you have been to Listverse, of course. It's a scary thought, this makes me think that I have a little bit of Stendhal Syndrome. But it doesn't happen often because I rarely see exceptional artworks. And do you want to know the symptoms? Read on and be amazed. Whether you think this is ridiculous or not, the things is...these mental disorders actually exist. :)

Stendhal Syndrome is a psychosomatic illness that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, confusion and even hallucinations when an individual is exposed to art, usually when the art is particularly ‘beautiful’ or a large amount of art is in a single place. The term can also be used to describe a similar reaction to a surfeit of choice in other circumstances, e.g. when confronted with immense beauty in the natural world.

And this one is funny....I'm glad I'm not a Japanese. Whew. I don't think I'd have the same tendencies when I stepped into Paris.

Paris syndrome is a condition exclusive to Japanese tourists and nationals, which causes them to have a mental breakdown while in the famous city. Of the millions of Japanese tourists that visit the city every year, around a dozen suffer this illness and have to be returned to their home country.

Oh, you better know about it all...you might just be resisting the impulse. :P

...including myself. Get this. :) I got this forwarded email from a friend yesterday and it said that I should forward it to all my contacts - well, why not let everybody know about it?;)

These are photos of someone's feet who reportedly bought a pair of flip flops made in China and later on developed one of the worst kind of skin irritation.

There was no clear information found on the email so I tried to investigate on it and this is what I got: (a commentary posted at Hoax Slayer dated October 2007)

This emailed message includes several photographs depicting a woman's feet with a severe skin reaction apparently caused by a pair of rubber flip flops (usually called "thongs" in Australia and "jandals" in New Zealand). The message claims that chemicals used in the manufacture of the flip flops caused the rash. According to the message, the flip flops were made in China and sold cheaply in Wal-Mart stores in the US.

The case described in the message is true and the photographs are genuine. The afflicted feet shown in the images belong to Kerry Stiles of Marion County, Florida. Stiles has created a website that features information and a series of photographs depicting the results of apparent chemical burns caused by a pair of flip flops she purchased for $2.44 at the Marion County Wal-Mart. She bought the flip flops for a photo shoot and then wore them for around an hour. But she later developed the painful and debilitating skin reaction shown in the photographs. The strap-shaped appearance of the rash strongly suggests that it was indeed caused by the flip flops.

Yes, I didn't stop until I found what I was looking for - a confirmation whether this is indeed true. Well, if you still have some doubts, you can just ignore this. I am not trying to single out Chinese people for that matter, I just mean to make others aware of the danger that awaits those who are not careful in choosing the products they buy.

Actually I have sensitive skin and I almost always get skin reactions from mild to something like this one whenever I use products which are high in chemical. So what I do is, I try to avoid experimenting with products which I haven't or no one has ever tried before. Haha. :P

Among the many ridiculous inventions, this never fails to make me laugh. I first spotted this portable cellphone booth some years ago and the dead serious look on the guy's face actually cracked me up. I bet carrying this around is like backpacking with a CRT monitor. Haha!

Aside from its known benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease, dementia and diabetes, scientists have recently found out that drinking a glass of beer - more like the ingredients found in it such as sugars, salts and bubbles - after sweating it out in the gym or any in kind of work out would help you absorb more fluid faster. Of course, this should be taken in moderation - too much of it will shrivel you up. :P

He [Professor Garzon] believes the carbon dioxide in beer helps quench the thirst more quickly, while beer's carbohydrates replace calories lost during physical exertion.
Based on the studies, the researchers have recommended moderate consumption of beer - 500ml a day for men or 250ml for women - as part of an athlete's diet.

This one is called a Hoffman's two-toed sloth - yes, who ever owns that last name is the one who discovered this little creature. You know why I admire them so much? It's because they don't mind being in an upside-down position for almost forever - I wonder if they sometimes complain though. I think they do know that they could move themselves up to a normal position, but they chose not to - they are accustomed to look at the world in that way. Haha. iPod Touch Commercial By A Student

Nick Haley, an 18-year-old student from Leeds University, made an iPod touch commercial using his Apple's Final Cut Pro which apparently grabbed every YouTube lurker's attention - includung Apple marketing employees. This just goes to show that a brilliant idea doesn't always have to come from best "brainstorming team" Apple could hire. :P

And I am glad that this young talent got recognized for his effort - even if it really wasn't intended to match up to other Apple commercials. Guess he just loves it so much that he actually became inspired to this one. ;)
