2. Duplicated Content. Google likes unique content and hates spams. Search engine spiders will probably treat your site as spam and ban it from SERPS if it is full of duplicated content.

3. Link Farms. Backlinks are great only when they come from relevant, high quality websites. Creating useless backlinks in unrelated, low quality blogs and websites will result you get banned.

4. Doorway and Gateway pages. Doorway pages are “fake” pages invisible to your website visitors which are used in an attempt to “fool” spiders. Google only ranks rich content landing pages accessible to humans, so no reason for a doorway page at all.

5. Unrelated keywords. Choosing the correct keyword and optimize for them can bring you tons of organic traffic, but irrelevant onces are totally useless. Let’s assume for example that “free ipods” is a keyword of high demand and low competition and that you can optimize for it. For a while Google will send you traffic. This means that when someone searches for “free ipod” your site will appear in the results, and you will have a visitor But, your site is about Canon Cameras! Can you convert that visitor? Absolutely not… She is looking for a free ipod and you are trying to sell a camera.

6. Blog Spamming. Commenting on blogs is a great way to build backlinks, but only when the blog is relevant and you have something to contribute to the conversation. Spamming other people blogs using software that generates text full of keywords will get you banned

7. Keyword Stuffing. This means to use many long keywords and repeat then again and again. Google hates keyword stuffing and it will flag your site as spam.

8. Pingback Spam. Pingback spam is to notify ping servers several times per day/hour/minute and give the illusion that the content is new, when it is not. Users will report you in no time.

9. Social Networking Spam. Finding targeted people and send the spam messages about your site/product is consider social networking spamming. No-one likes spam and thus user will report before you get any traffic.

10. Trackbank spam. Trackbank spam is to abuse trackbacks with links to irrelevant topics and/or  websites. Link back only to relevant and legitimate sources.

[powerpress] Guest blogging is one of the best ways to get traffic, subscribers and valuable backlinks to your website. Popular blogs have a valuable commodity, a real audience. You can submit your spun articles to thousands of directories and blog networks in the hopes of getting some link juice back to your site but do these sites actually have fans that return over and over to read the content? Probably not. However, an a list blog has avid readers who react, comment and click through links to learn more.

If you get your guest blog post on an “A list” blog your traffic will surge immediately.

This is what happened with me when I had one of my posts published on Sitepronews. I noticed an immediate increase in comments on my own blog as well as subscribers to my newsletter. When I checked my trackbacks Sitepronews had actually published a guest post that I had forgotten about!

The problem with writing guest posts is that sometimes they are not approved or the website owner does not give much priority to guest blog posts. I had submitted a guest blog post to Maxblogpress which creates excellent wordpress plugins which I use on this blog and others. My post just sat there on their site in limbo for weeks and weeks. It was neither approved nor rejected. They had other things going on and were not monitoring guest blog posts being submitted to their site.

All the blogs are in the seo or internet marketing areas, the same areas of interest as this blog.

I could have provided some mega list of blogs that potentially could accept blog posts but do you really have time to wade through such a list?

Of course many of the links would not be your first choice and it takes time to write a good blog post. You want to be submitting your quality blog posts to blogs that are high traffic, authority blogs which also WANT guest blog posts. These are several blogs where I will be submitting guest posts. Quickregister.net Marketing Blog. Ok, I am putting my blog first. The site is at about Alexa 18,000 which is pretty good. The domain is over 10 years old so posts get indexed very quickly in Google, plus I will promote your post to my list of 130,000 and to my social media contacts. If your post is good, written in correct fluent English, and original then there is a very high chance that I will publish the post. I want guest blog posts. To be honest, I need the help. I am concentrating on setting up local marketing sites which are much more profitable than running a blog. Seomoz (YOUmoz)– Now we are moving up to the big boys. Seomoz is the premier seo blog. It is the A list of the A list blogs. It has a stunning Alexa ranking of 420. This means that there are only 420 other websites on the planet with as much traffic as Seomoz. (I did not realize that SEO was such a popular subject!) They have a sub section of their popular site called YOUmoz. You can submit your quality seo articles to YOUmoz and if it is good you have a half way decent shot of getting published. Daily Blog Tips– With an Alexa ranking of 5000 and over 15,000 incoming links Daily Blog Tips would be a great place to publish an article. Fortunately for us they are publishing guest blog posts 2 times per week. If you would like to be considered see here for their guest blogging guidelines.

Johnchow.com– The Canadian, John Chow, has one of the most popular blogs in the make money online niche. I am not sure how easy it is to get published on his blog. He has a respectable 6000 Alexa ranking with 6084 incoming links.

Famousbloggers.net– How can you go wrong with a name like that? Do you want to be a famous blogger? Well, Famousbloggers.net is actually living up to it’s name. Trafficgenerationcafe– Ana Hoffman is all about traffic, especially free traffic as the name suggests. She just does not talk about traffic she gets it. With a solid Alexa ranking of 8000 Ana is doing something right. You should also be ready to diversify how your content is used on forums; following my tip in point 2 you should be ready to experiment with documents, ebooks and any other form of writing that promotes your business and contributes value to the forum members without coming up as spammy.

5. Email Newsletter

Very few people own an email list but an email newsletter is one of the best ways to gain more exposure to your content by writing.

For every visitor that lands on your site you have a potentially new subscriber. The more email subscribers you have the better it is, and by cultivating regular relationships with your subscribers you will be able to increase your chances of success on the long run.

Of course, the downside to this approach is that it depends on your existing audience, but if used wisely it can be a way to draw new audience to your blog.
