Food has been a recurring theme of charity ventures in recent years, so regular readers of MerQury News will not be surprised to read that Quicksilva staff chose to mark Red Nose Day 2013 in the time honoured way - with a staff bake-fest (eaten while dressed in red, of course).

Looking back at summer

As a fantastic summer of sport draws to a close, the signs of autumn approaching are all around us here at Quicksilva. In the garden, the pumpkins are developing nicely ready for Halloween, while those sunflowers that survived their owners loving care(!) are reaching their peak.

Flying high at RIAT 2012

I attended RIAT this year with my middle son as it was his 16th birthday, plus it was a treat for the efforts he put into doing his GCSEs. Appropriate really, as both he and I feel, he should be “flying high”. Anyway, not too long before we find out.

When two Royal Naval personnel in uniform turned up one morning the office was filled with intrigue and it wasn’t long before tongues began to wag. The officers marched straight into the garden and began arranging unusual objects around the lawn…fuelling speculation of what the day had in store. A long heavy rope in one section, incongruous scattered objects (such as a banana, a bread knife, and a safety helmet) in another, and two circular roped areas a short distance apart in the third and final section.
